But recently they went above and beyond my expectations
I had booked 3 bookings travelling in italy but the day before my flight I broke my arm.
Ruiz at customer setvices gave me all the support and advice I needed and indeed I can have a full refund despite dates being so close and past cancellation date.
All i needed was proof of my injury and that I couldnt fly.
I have also stayed in many lovely apartments around Europe.
I highly recomend airbnb

Never work with airbnb
Never work with airbnb! They are comitting fraud also to the hosts! If guests start complaining whatever issue they are giving without prior notice to the host huge money backs.

Ahh so it's not just me. Airbnb really is an awful company. I won't get into all the details (been a 5 month LONG process) but in a nutshell the "host" is requesting money for "damages" at her place that never happened. Basically extortion. She's contacted our company, claimed a review damaged her reputation which is "priceless", all after kicking out the guests that were staying at her place. Airbnb has done nothing to remove the hosts' listing after all that I've shared with them (videos, damage to personal property etc.) they must only care about making $$. So, I wouldn't trust what you see on their site. Anyone can host. One day, this will bite them in the a$$ when someone gets hurt staying in a psychopath's home.

Airbnb haven't processed the first transaction yet and are refusing to cancel the transaction. They are insisting on taking the money and then taking 15 business day to refund the money. Why waste everyone's time with this? The Agent has said they have no way on communicating to an internal accounts team to cancel this transaction.
For a large company this sounds rather strange don't you think.......

No Customer Commitment
I booked a month long stay in a place in Costa Rica 10 months before my travel date. However, the owner found someone who who wanted to stay for two months so I got cancelled at the last minute.
Airbnb didn't give a damn when I complained - in fact they didn't really even read my email. What they did offer was to book me in entirely inappropriate accommodations at a more expensive price.

I had a terrible first experience
I had a terrible first experience. The house I rented was $2000. And I was refunded the $400. The house was nasty, the toilet was nonfunctional the house was advertised air-conditioned and there was two defective portable ACs units that we could not use in the hot humid summer. There was a leak due to these units that prevented us from cooking and eating in the dining area for two days . The furniture indoor and out the word disrepair Causing us to fix it. That we sponsor from the host was terrible. Lessons learned!!

Appalling. Shocking disrespect for customer safety. Phenomenally poor experience with rental property and Airbnb denying any responsibility. Issues relating to property including lack of plumbing, mice and dangerous flooring and dangerous electrics and we were told we couldn’t raise these as an issue as the host had “offered to clean the apartment”. Genuinely shocked they think cleaning would fix live wiring and don’t think that’s an issue.

Terrible service. Had to live in a un-clean place with the shower spitting out hairs and food, the sink flooded, microwave dirty. Airbnb promised $100 compensation. Then said it was a coupon. WHY WOULD I USE IT ON THIS PLACE??? They took a whole week to talk to me about this and ended up with 4 case managers and went no where. Waste of time.
Its Not Where They Advertise—Be Afraid
I booked 57 days “in the heart of Naples”. Arrived with no host greeting, no air conditioning on 95 degree day, overflowing toilet tank and shower stall, no television, non working keys to get in and it was not in the historical center as advertised but in a very shady area that I was afraid to be out in at night. It didn’t matter. I was attacked in broad daylight, 30 feet from my apartment door, thrown to the ground, my jewelry stolen—just 21 days after I arrived. I immediately cancelled my Airbnb reservation, checked into a hotel and flew home on the first flight I could get. I was surprised when I was billed a week later for the second payment and when I again addressed my problems to Airbnb they said the host didn’t want to reimburse me. Big surprise! I had told the host that I was uncomfortable there and he had assured me it was a safe area. I am so disappointed that the only reviews Airbnb accepts on their site are good reviews. And I can’t believe they accept no responsibility for the people they allow to host and how the listings are not at all similar to the descriptions on their site.
Airbnb is the absolute worst- don’t use this service
We booked a family trip. The house in the Airbnb site looked amazing. When we got there it was everything but amazing. 2 rolls of toilet paper for 5 nights and 9 people. No soap in either bathroom, rugs trip hazards, etc etc. I could go on and on. This was our first time using Airbnb and it will definitely be our last. Customer service does everything to protect the host but not the customer. I even had dozens of pictures I sent to prove all or most of the issues. Stay at a resort or a hotel vs this sham. For what we paid , it should’ve been in tip top shape and it was an awful experience. No one should have to go through what we did.

Airbnb technical and customer service nightmare for hosts
Airbnb works when you have a good host as a customer. Not because of Airbnb. I also host and I try to be prompt and truthful to people when they enquire. I had 4 enquiries to day for overlapping dates. I answered an info request for first and informed others I could not confirm. The first person then wants to book - but is not allowed as the system stops and tells her unavailable. It is available and is shown as such on calendar and I have accepted no other enquiries. Info on site doesn't help. I eventually call. 2 dropped calls. 2 people also give me different ways to sort and contradict each other. Neither work. 12 hours later. I have to decline all requests to clear bookings and message people to explain so the person can book. It says declined on screen - but then is not declined. By now the person trying to book has had 12 hours of this and various messages and promises from me based on what airbnb tell me that turn out isn't true. I ask to escalate to supervisor - i am told I will be called back but nobody can tell me when - just in the future!!! Highly likely I have lost all bookings, look like someone who can't be trusted and have wasted hours of my time and guests time. The one thing I know is that there will be no compensation from airbnb. This is a pretend brand who just want money as cheaply as possible. When airbnb works it is due to the host - not them.
Scam! Host made $900 for nothing!!!!
I’m dishearten and sadly was fooled by Airbnb and the host. My family and I booked a ski vacation for over Christmas break 2019-2020 back in February 2019. As a first time user I paid 50% down and 50% 2 weeks before check in. The cost was almost $2000 for each payment. However in May we found out we are pregnant and will be expecting early January. Since I won’t be able to travel or ski we notified the host to request a refund. Geoff from Mt. Snow NH was very inviting and making us feel like there was nothing to worry about and we would be able to work something out. However after going back and forth for months, Geoff only refunded $960 out of the $1860 we paid already. That is a $900 profit on nothing except me being a fool and scammed by this site. He is still able to book the time which he has over 4.5 months to do and make even more money!!!! He stated it is just business and no good deed goes unpunished. So he made $900 for nothing is no good deed? The customer service at Airbnb did nothing except offer me a $200 credit for next booking which will NOT happen. I’d rather stay at a hotel and ensure I’m not getting screwed. I hope he can’t book the place or maybe I’ll find someone else to book it and then have my baby there at his condo?!?!? The world is the way it is because people screw people over left and right. Fool me once Airbnb but you’ll never see business from me or anyone else I know again.

I hate even giving them 1 star!! But who else has had issues where they take the deposit then the next day you receive a message saying they deactivated your account and you contact customer service and the customer service does nothing??!!?? I’m highly upset and this was my first experience with Airbnb.
Possibly the worst customer service ever
Possibly the worst customer service I have experienced. Property not as described, security camera in bedroom. Airbnb had no interest in refunding us. We left and got a hotel through booking.com. I've stayed in many Airbnb's without a problem but when something goes wrong Airbnb have little interest in sorting it out. Will not use again.
