As soon as the majority of UK citizens voted to leave the EU, we found out who our real friends are. If an individual decided to give up membership of an organisation, most organisations might ask 'why are you leaving us?' or 'is there something we can do to encourage you to stay?'. Not the EU. As soon as the so-called 'Brexit' vote was declared, the EU started going on about how many billions of euros they were owed for the privilege of the UK opting to leave. The EU fearmongering and scare tactics have continued ever since, with EU officials making it as difficult, expensive and ruinous as possible for the UK to regain its sovereignty. Are these the actions of real friends? Of course they aren't. The EU is another corporation with garden-variety corporate characteristics: gluttony, megalomania and absolutely no true regard for the welfare of the ordinary citizens who fund its top-heavy oligarchy. They're too busy writing legislation that seeks to standardise the size and shape of a ******** banana.
And why has no-one at the EU bothered to even ask why the majority of UK citizens wanted to leave the EU? If you had bothered to ask us maybe you'd have learned something about how sick to death ordinary citizens are with the smug unaccountability and remoteness of EU officials, or the sense of powerlessness we have over the direction and behaviours of EU officials and the distant, convoluted policies and practices that affect the lives of us ordinary people. Or the utter waste of resources and membership fees, squandered every year on bank bailouts, whilst we have to suffer the indignity of your 'austerity' measures. Or the sinister shift from the original mandate of economic cooperation between sovereign states to the unelected federalist control grid that the EU is fast becoming. Or how about the utter uselessness and failure of the EU in making the everyday lives of citizens easier by, for example, eliminating vehicle regulations so that we can drive our own private vehicles from one EU country to the next without the stupidity of then having to import and register vehicles if we want to stay in another country for more than 90 days?
EU officials have merely responded to Brexit like a narcissistic adolescent who has been dumped by his girlfriend. It is a testament to the EU's contempt for individual rights and liberties that its officials should fail to recognise and respect the democratic expression of the UK in wishing to go its own way without trying to cut a pound of flesh from every UK citizen as punishment for having the cheek to want to leave the old boys club in the first place. All the EU have achieved in behaving this way is to whip up anti-British sentiment amongst EU member states, to penalise both pro-Bexit and anti-Brexit citizens alike. It has further revealed the real fascist face of the EU for all to see.
Those who run the EU executive club are not the true friends of British or, indeed, European citizens. It's just another corporate cartel out to serve the interests of elites who have more money between them than they could ever spend.
