I started with really like a traditional
style and a traditional color palette
you know then one day I just wanted to
do something different kind of break all
the rules of watercolors so I I did
something really quick and really
splashy and bright and the result was
overwhelmingly positive people loved it
right away

Addie's and alder rescue a lab in center
mix her human is a poet in New York City
and she's very special to him because he
deals with chronic pain and this
painting is particularly special because
it's going to be the cover of his future
book okay so I've got addy sketched out
on the canvas when I look at a photo of
an animal I really do see a lot of color
I just exaggerate it I accentuate it and
I do that by limiting myself to about
five to six really bright colors

when I see an animal photograph with
lighting or movement that I really like
I feel compelled to make it into art to
bring it to life on the canvas people
see pets more and more as members of
their family so when somebody
Commission's a painting and they get
their final piece they don't just see
artwork they see the eyes of their pet
and that's something really special
really personal to them a husband
commissioned a wedding gift for his
future wife it was special because it
was of her little brother who she lost
to leukemia and then of her dog that
helped her in the grieving process she
had just lost as well it was very
emotional for me but also it was just a
really special honor to be part of their
story and it's just very cool to do what
I do for a living
