hey guys been here I
thought I'd show
you my latest project this is a model of
a 3d printer that I'm going to use for
demonstration at a school so let's take
a look ok so this consists of a
commercial glue gun that's just mounted
to a wooden frame and it's got a wooden
plate on the bottom and then here we've
got a linear slide another linear slide
and this is a lab jack so I can adjust
the height very easily and so the idea
is that with one hand I can dispense hot
glue onto the lab jack and then with the
other hand move it along and one axis or
some are sort of even both with a little
bit of jerkiness there and the idea is
to show kids how a 3d printer works and
very sort of hands-on real terms so I
was thinking maybe one person can
control one axis and another person
could control the other axis and yet a
third person could control the
dispensing of the hot glue it's not
really meant to make you know useful
parts at all I think probably one of the
best sort of example parts that I've
made are just alphabetic alphabetic
letters you know I mean you can at least
see these and they aren't even really 3d
it's it's more of a to deform but I
think it gets the idea across people can
at least get some hands-on experience
with something like a 3d printer and
bring it makes the technology quite a
bit more approachable it's also really
quick to build this and if it doesn't go
over too well it won't be such a loss
the only other thing I might add is I
put teflon tape on top of here so after
the hot glue cools down just peels right
off that was a nice nice addition and
I've got a little fan back here just to
blow some air across the the hot glue
after its dispensed to make it harden up
a little bit more quickly ok well i hope
