Why I Left My $100,000+ Job at Facebook - Make Money Online 2019

I left my hundred thousand dollar-plus
per year salary at Facebook and if you
ask anyone around me including myself my
friends my family my co-workers why I
was leaving and they all would have
thought I was crazy but it just wasn't
for me it wasn't my passion and when I
actually ended up quitting and going
online and making my youtube channel a
lot of people were actually surprised
some people thought that I was crazy and
a lot of my friends said good for you
for following your passion but the thing
that a lot of people including my
friends didn't know at the time is I
wasn't just following my passion it was
because after a very short time in the
online space I discovered that there was
a huge gap in the market and potential
to really leverage that into a massive
business at first I just wanted my own
life I wanted more freedom I wanted to
be able to wake up when I wanted to I
didn't want to have to put on a suit or
a dress shirt or khakis or drive to work
and sit in a commute every single day
and so I researched every opportunity
basically Under the Sun on how you could
start making money online how you could
start making money from home how you
wouldn't have to go to the same cubicle
in the same office and listen to the
same boss a day after day after day and
after just a few short months of
researching everything under the Sun as
far as making money online I went all-in
on something called Amazon FBA and the
gap in the market that I identified was
that there was a lot more people who
wanted to learn online than they're
worth teachers there's literally a
hundred people who wanted to learn how
to make money online for every one
teacher and when there's a situation in
the economy when they're significantly
more demand than there is supply it's a
pretty simple equation and so to a lot
of people you know getting a job at
Facebook is basically like the dream
right it's basically the top tier the
top of the mountain of the nine-to-five
job I went to an accounting job where I
went to work for 80 hours a week and
they had like some sugar and some
instant coffee and then I worked at
Facebook where they had pretty much
everything you could possibly imagine
for free they had you know a massage
parlor for free that would change your
oil in the parking lot in your car for
free there was a doctor's office there
was you know a free ice cream parlor
there was free barbecue there was free
everything and you could have as much as
you wanted all day and there was people
you know staying there until 11 12
o'clock at night because of the perks
that Facebook had it was seriously one
of the best places that you could
possibly ask for when it comes to
working a nine-to-five job for someone
else but the problem is that I think a
lot of entrepreneurs face and a lot of
people who really want to create
something you
big and meaningful is you really can't
do that if you're working for someone
else and there are some outlying cases
like CEOs of public traded companies and
people who are making you know multiple
millions of dollars a year but outside
of that if you are an employee of
someone else you have a significantly
lower you know total threshold to be
able to create something you know big
and meaningful and not everyone wants
that because there's a lot of stress
that's involved with being an
entrepreneur there's a lot of
responsibility right if things don't go
right you can't afford to pay your
employees and there's a lot of different
issues that people you know don't think
about but you have to decide for
yourself if you are comfortable with the
nine-to-five job or if you want to try
to go out and do something on your own
and for me my real passion was never you
know selling ecommerce products or
selling random widgets or anything like
that
my passion has always been teaching and
reaching people and helping other people
but the problem is with today's economy
as a teacher you can't have financial
freedom right most teachers are
drastically underpaid most teachers are
living paycheck to paycheck but that's
just the way that our economy is set up
I don't think it's right a lot of people
don't think it's right but sometimes
things are just the way they are and so
the only way that I was gonna be able to
actually pursue my passion and also have
the financial freedom that I was looking
for was finding a way to teach at a
larger scale and so when my youtube kind
of started to take off and I started to
get you know a couple thousand views and
then ten thousand and then a hundred
thousand and I started to get you know
hundred subscribers and then a thousand
and it was building incrementally what
happened was I kind of had a light bulb
go off in my head and you know I
realized that Kevin you can do YouTube
and you can follow your passion you can
teach people you can really reach people
and change people's lives and make a
serious difference and you could also
have the financial freedom it was just
beautiful
epiphany probably the only epiphany that
I've ever had in my life when the light
bulb just went on and everything made
sense and there was like this moment of
clarity and you know maybe that sounds
cliche because some people may never
have that moment of clarity but unless
you actually stop and ask yourself okay
Kevin what do I actually want from life
what do I want like how much money would
be enough for me how much time freedom
do I want do I want to spend more time
with my family and my friends or do I
want to spend more time working and
building a business because for every
action there's an equal and opposite
reaction so if you want to spend more
time on your business you'll probably
make more money but then you'll have
less free time or if you want more free
time and you spend less time on your
business you'll probably have less money
and so unless you take the time to
actually sit
and think about what you personally want
you'll never be able to get to what you
want right because a lot of people you
know just complain how they are stuck in
a job they hate or they're stuck here
and they're not making any progress in
their lives but they haven't actually
taken the time to identify what exactly
it is they want and at first when I
started my youtube channel I was making
significantly less money than I was
making at my you know quote-unquote
dream job which was Facebook and I loved
Facebook like I said right they had
everything you could ever want from a
nine-to-five job and they were paying me
significantly more than I was making
when I first started my youtube channel
but when I started to see the actual
reactions and when I started to get
videos from people on my Instagram and
through email you know people that were
emotional saying that you know I changed
their life or they were finally able to
quit their job or they were finally able
to you know help their parents move into
a new house or whatever the case may be
just from what I was doing and what I
was spending my time doing I was
actually affecting people and I was
helping people and I was able to change
people's lives and so even if I was able
to change one person's life it's totally
worth it to me from a fulfillment and
happiness perspective versus just
working at a nine-to-five job you know
making Mark Zuckerberg even richer than
he already is and so I don't know what
the future holds I don't know where my
channels gonna go from here but what I
do know is there's a lot more people out
there that I can help and even if I just
help one more person then all these
videos I make all these scripts all
these cameras all this stuff that I do
even if it helps just one more person
makes all of it worth it I'm gonna keep
doing this for as long as I possibly can
so I can help as many people as I
possibly can
be free from the nine-to-five lifestyle
be free from feeling trapped by their
day-to-day life be free from you know
somebody telling them what to do and
just really living life in my opinion
how it's meant to be lived living on
your own schedule having the time to
spend with your friends and with your
family and to do the things you want to
do and to travel to Thailand in the
morning right that's the beauty of life
and that's my mission on this planet and
I'm so happy that you are here to share
it with me and so if you are feeling
lost right now and you need direction on
what you should focus on in your life
