- All right guys, so this is a video that I've been looking
forward to doing, but I'm also very afraid of what
we're gonna be doing here.
And it's an idea that I got a couple of weeks ago,
because with the type of content I'm putting out there
on the internet, I'm attracting a lot of people
who are trying to scam others out there.
And I honestly get emails and messages from people
on a daily basis asking me, "Hey, is this a scam?
"This person wants me to send them $500 to invest
"on my behalf."
And there are just so many scams out there,
I wanted to document what it looks like to be taken
advantage of in a scam situation.
So, we got a lot of stuff planned for this video.
We're gonna be talking
with a lawyer about the legality of scams.
I'm gonna be sharing my personal experience
with getting scammed back in 2014, and then we're
also going to be contacting people who are trying to scam
others, and going down that rabbit hole,
and maybe even getting one of these people
on a phone call here with us
so we can kinda learn about what
they're trying to do, and this whole business
of scamming people online.
So, if this is something you guys are excited for
all that I ask is that you drop a like on this video
for the YouTube algorithm, and share this video
with a friend who may enjoy this as well.
That helps out a lot and allows this video to get shown
to more people.
But, yeah, let's see where this thing goes.
(gentle piano music)
So one of the first precautions that we took here,
of many, because obviously we're dealing with potentially
dangerous stuff online.
Number one, first of all, I bought a cheap laptop
so I'm not using my main computer or my Mac
to be going to some of these really sketchy websites
because they may have viruses, who knows what's going on.
Second of all, we are doing this under an alias,
Jim Lemon, which you guys who has seen my past videos,
in my video on doing online surveys, that was also
the name that I used, so I'm carrying that over.
Jim Lemon, if you are watching this video, I do apologize.
But you know what?
You do what you gotta do here.
You gotta protect yourself online.
The other thing I've done here.
I set up a Google Voice number,
that way if he decides, the scammer wants to get
on the phone with me, he can actually call me up
through this Google Voice number or text me,
and then I can actually talk to him on my phone,
and he won't actually know what my personal number is.
And the final step we took here
is we are connecting through a VPN, virtual private network,
if you guys aren't familiar with that.
Basically, that will mask my IP address.
So just to show that to you guys, we'll go on Google here
and I'll just put in, oh actually as you can see already,
opening up Chrome, we must be in some foreign country
already, but I will type in what is my IP address,
just to show you.
And so my IP address is coming up right here,
which this is not my actual IP address,
and I'll open up another site that shows you
what my location is.
And so this is showing that we are in Secaucus, New Jersey,
but based on the fact that a lot of the site
was in a different language, I'm guessing it's also
routing through an overseas server.
So we're completely protected here,
that way if, for some reason, I got hacked
during this whole process, we're going through a VPN here
so they wouldn't be able to get my IP address
and get my location.
And obviously guys, this should go without saying here,
but I'm gonna say it anyway, this is not something
that you should be doing on your own.
So this is just something I'm doing for educational
and entertainment purposes here.
You probably shouldn't be reaching out to these people.
We're gonna be trying to get scammed on purpose,
but this is just not something I would recommend doing
because you are gonna lose money.
If we do end up sending somebody money here,
I would say it's a guarantee
that we are gonna be losing that money.
So, honestly, that's the point of this video
is more or less to kinda try to spread awareness
of the dangers of these scams, and what it might look like
when you're going through them.
And my hope behind this is that maybe if you're
in the early process of getting scammed,
and you've seen this video, you can identify some of these
trends yourself and realize, okay, this is a scam.
And you may end up not going down that rabbit hole
and losing money.
So that's my hope by showing this to you guys.
And I think it's gonna be entertaining, so that too.
So, I have a little story to share with you first
before we get into some of these scams
that we're looking at,
because I was actually scammed, back in 2014.
I'm gonna sit over here by the fire where it's warm
because it's about 15 degrees outside today.
But yeah, back in January of 2014 I was trying to do
which if you guys aren't familiar with that,
you buy a domain name for 10 or $15 or so,
and then you try to sell that domain name down the road
to a different buyer for a higher price.
So I ended up purchasing a bunch of domains
and one of them I had somebody contacting me saying,
"Hey we're interested in basically purchasing
"that domain from you."
And so what I wanna do now is I'm gonna walk you guys
through what those emails were with us back and forth.
And I did end up getting scammed.
I fell for it.
I went through the whole process and I ended up sending
them some money.
I think it was $130.
Basically thinking that I was going along
with the typical process of selling a domain name.
That's what I wanna do now.
I wanna go ahead and read you guys through
exactly what this scam looked like.
The domain that I had purchased was called helpmewire.com.
At the time, I was in school for electrical construction,
and I was thinking, hey, that might be a good domain
name if somebody was making a blog on how to do
residential wiring, for example, for your home.
So I bought helpmewire.com, and on January 18th, 2014,
I got an email from David Duncan,
who was the Vice President from who knows what,
it just says Vice President here, of Switzerland,
which that doesn't make any sense.
And this is what the email said, he said, "Hello!
"I represent a wealthy investor from Macau, China,
"who wants to purchase helpmewire.com.
"My investor has $386,000 as a budget
"for 30 to 50 domain names.
"Please respond and specify a desired price
"in the subject line.
"My client has $415,000 USD budget
"for 40 to 50 domain names."
So right off the bat, that should have been a red flag,
because in the very first line, he goes,
"My investor has $386,000."
Two lines later, "My client has $415,000."
So the dollar amount changed, literally, in two sentences.
"He is very interested in financial shopping,
"adult, gambling, mobile phones,
"and weight loss related domains."
Which why he would be interested in helping
somebody wire their house, a domain about wiring,
that doesn't make any sense.
"Please let us know your preferred payment method,
"PayPal, Western Union, Escrow, et cetera.
"If this is your first domain sale, I may help you
"with the sale/transfer processes.
"Are you a member of domain seller communities/forums?
"Probably, we know each other under some nicknames?
"Regards, David Duncan."
So one of the things I noticed is that he was immediately
in this email trying to identify am I the first,
is this the first time I've been involved in a sale
or transfer process.
And I'm guessing that's because he wants people who
are brand new to this, which I was,
who have never seen this scam before.
So, this is what I responded about two hours later.
I said, "Good evening David.
"I've received your inquiry regarding helpmewire.com
"and the domain name is for sale.
"I understand your client has a budget of $415,000
"for 40 to 50 websites.
"If he purchases 50 websites,
"it would be roughly $8,300 per site."
I basically took 415,000, divided that by 50,
came up with 8,300.
I said, "My offer for the domain is 8,300,
"which is essentially his asking price
"if purchasing 50 domains.
"I do not belong to any domain forums,
"so I do not believe we have met.
"I would accept payment via PayPal,
"and I can give you that information in a later email.
"Regards, Ryan O. Scribner."
So, I was being as professional as possible.
I was thinking, man, I was in college, I didn't have
any money, I'm about to make $8,300 on a domain name
I purchased for 10 bucks.
So I was pretty stoked, I thought this was awesome.
And so shortly after I got a response from Duncan.
So David responds and says, "8,300 bucks, okay great!
"Before we proceed my investor needs
"only one thing from you."
And this is where things get juicy.
This is where the scam begins here.
"As you may know, all major domain brokers
"does not allow listing above 1,000 or higher
"if you don't have an official apprasial."
Which right off the bat, not only do we have some spelling
issues in that sentence, this doesn't make any sense.
"Major domain brokers does not allow listing
"above $1,000 or higher
"if you don't have an official apprasial.
"Since the sale price is not low in our case,
"my client needs an official
"certificate of price, appraisal.
"He also needs to know you have no trademark problems.
"It won't be a problem because I know an official
"appraiser that offers this option,
"trademark infringement verification, for free
"as part of the appraisal service.
"I'm also interested in a good valuation
"and a high sale price, because my client pays me
"a commission, 10 to 15% of the sale price
"on every domain purchased.
"So I'm not interested in low sales too."
So he's making it seem like he's my friend
in the situation, because he's representing this buyer,
he's gonna get 10 to 15% of the sale,
so he doesn't want a low ball, he wants us to charge
the full value for this.
Then he goes, "Of course, you should not use a free
"automated service like Estibot or similar services.
"My client won't accept them.
"I was working for Estibot and knew they were using
"automated scripts for free appraisals.
"In our case we need a real manual valuation."
And then he sent me a link to a Google Answer thread here.
He said, "To avoid mistakes and wasting money
"on useless automated services, I asked in the forum
"about reliable manual valuation/TM verification services.
"Please read this."
And then he included a link to me of a, basically a forum,
which in my opinion, he just basically responded
with a bunch of different accounts talking about this
type of appraisal service for domains.
"The process is very easy", he says in the email.
He says, "God to the appraisal site and order the valuation
"with the trademark verification, submit your domains
"to them and let them know you have a buyer
"with $XXXX offer, so you need the appraisal
"near this value."
Which, right off the bat, that doesn't make any sense.
Because, if it was a true appraisal,
you wouldn't really be giving him a benchmark
of hey this is what we're trying to hit for the appraisal.
"After several hours you will get the results.
"Step number two, then send me these results
"via email and we will proceed with the deal."
All right so at this point I respond to David.
I said, "I understand the need for the appraisal,
"and I reviewed the information from the website provided.
"Do you suggest using icann-valuations.org
"from the link you provided to me?
"I am not worried about the cost
"associated with the appraisal."
And obviously, I was in the situation where I'm like,
I'm about to make $8,300.
If I have to spend 130 bucks
on a website appraisal, who cares?
Because I'm about to make so much money.
So then after that, I was very eager.
I sent that email at 6:54 p.m., 10 minutes later
I sent him another email.
I said, "David, I went ahead and used ICANN
"for an appraisal, expect to hear from me tonight
"once I hear from them."
And then he said, shortly after, "Okay, let me know
"the appraisal results.
"I Hope to close the deal so you and me will get the money."
So then I responded, and at this point it was 3:11
in the morning, and this was when I became woke to the fact
that, wait a second, what if there was in fact
no buyer in Macau who was looking to buy this domain name.
And what if, in fact, Duncan runs this appraisal site,
and he goes out there and sends these emails
to all these people who buy domain names,
make sure that they've never sold a domain name before,
and also make sure they're not involved in any forums.
So he qualifies to make sure you a grade A moron
who knows nothing about domain names, domain sales,
and then he hits you with this domain appraisal scam.
That's when it hit me.
I said, well, you know what, I just blew $130.
But I what I ended up doing, is I was able to contact
my bank and explain what happened,
and we were able to dispute the transaction.
So I didn't actually end up losing the $130,
however I did lose my entire debit card
in that process.
I had to start from scratch and change everything over,
so it was a major inconvenience.
So here's what I said to Duncan.
I said, "I now understand this was a scam.
"I would like a refund from the fake appraisal site.
"You can deal with me or my attorney."
I was throwin' out the big guns.
I was gonna hire an attorney
as a 19-year-old college student, you know.
So obviously I didn't have an attorney, but I was
trying to flex my guns a little bit here.
And so Duncan responded, surprisingly,
and he said, "What's wrong with you?
"Just switch your brain on."
That was what he said in the subject here,
or in the body here.
"If some people think I earn money on appraisals
"I don't care.
"Did I send you any affiliate links?
"How can I earn money from the appraisals, any idea?
"A lack of technical knowledge make people think
"such bogus things."
So right off the bat, he's coming off extremely
confrontational, and he's trying to, I think,
get me to feel, like oh okay.
He thinks I'm somebody with a lack of technical knowledge,
and that's why I'm thinking such bogus things
in this situation.
He says, "I'm not interested in making 10 bucks
"on referrals for appraisal services.
"I earn much more money on actual sales.
"My investors pay me 10 to 20% of every sale.
"I earn money on reselling domains.
"I'm working with many clients all over the world
"and many of them are happy because I really sell domains.
"Did I disappear?
"I'm still here and I'm ready to work with you.
"You did not pay me a penny, so your attorney may contact
"me at any time.
"If you still wish to work with me
"please send your excuses.
"If you don't send your excuses within 24 hours
"I will contact he buyer and cancel the deal.
"It's not a big problem for me since I have many other
"sellers and buyers who need my service."
So then I responded and said,
"The appraisal came back at $9,250.
"The only reason I called this a scam is because
"I saw the same email you sent to me on a website
"about domain scams."
I'm not kidding guys.
I literally copy and pasted a section of this email,
and this exact same email was on a forum
about domain appraisal scams.
I said, "Is there anything else you can do
"to testify the legitimacy of you and your buyer?
"I am willing to work with you."
So even after I knew this was a scam,
after I had contact my bank, I fell back into it,
because his email was so convincing.
He really beat me down and made me feel like an idiot.
So, then I said, "When the time comes that you can
"show me you are real there will be an apology on my part."
Just because that, at that point he hadn't responded
for a good part of a, or actually, no, I sent that
shortly after, so I guess I was trying to appeal to his
more sensitive side.
So at this point now, going forward, we basically go
back and forth here.
David continues to be very confrontational with me,
kind of trying to beat me down, make me feel like an idiot
and make him seem like this really legitimate investor.
But it ultimately goes nowhere.
But it was a huge waste of time,
and not only that, it was actually a huge letdown for me
too, because I was young, I was in college,
and I thought I was going to make a bunch of money
selling this domain name.
So this right here is what scams can look like,
and luckily I was able to contact my bank,
get that $130 back, and I was a college student
at the time, so that was a lot of money for me.
But a lot of people would continue to go down
this rabbit hole.
And I don't know where it would continue from here.
Maybe after that there would be fees you'd have to pay
to transfer the domain, or broker fees.
This could have been the very initial scam
of the $130 for the appraisal, and that could lead into
all of these additional scams and fees
that he's trying to tack on here
for this fake domain purchase.
So this is what scams look like.
I have been scammed, accidentally, and we're gonna get
scammed on purpose now later in this video,
and we're gonna go through it and see what it looks like.
(tense music)
I just don't know what we're gonna run into here.
I mean, these are not the best types of people
that are running scams like this.
You gotta think about, they're going after,
for the most part, low income people,
like people that don't have any money.
So, it's not, like it's one thing if you're scamming
the wealthiest 1%, you know what I mean?
But when you're goin' after people that literally
have no money, you have to be a real messed up person
to really go after somebody like that.
So I just don't think we're gonna be dealing with
the best people here.
What if they find out who I am?
Well, the good news is I literally just installed
this yesterday. (laughing)
Which has nothing to do with this, but I just installed
my SimpliSafe security system, so if they send someone
to my house at least I'll know they're here.
All right, so I wanted to briefly explain
the Google Voice here, which is what's going to allow
us to anonymously communicate with these scammers.
So let's say for example one of these guys wants to call
me up on the phone.
I don't want him to have my actual number here.
So this is free to set up.
It took me about five minutes.
And it's Google Voice.
So basically, when he calls that number,
it's going to be routed through the Google Voice number
and then it's gonna go to my friend Rob's phone, right here.
Because, frankly, I don't want it going to my phone.
Actually just kidding, I already have a Google Voice
number so I couldn't set another one up
otherwise I would.
But, Rob generously said I could use his phone,
and it helps that I'm paying him,
because he has to say (dramatic music)
yes to these things, otherwise I'm going to fire him,
and then I'll find a new videographer who will allow me
to contact scammers with their phone.
But anyway, let me demonstrate how this works now,
'cause I'm calling from my phone to Rob's phone right here.
And I'm already in his contacts.
But I'm gonna show you, I'm not dialing Rob's phone,
I'm dialing Jim Lemon from Houston, Texas.
That's who I'm calling.
So let me put that number in
and I'll show you guys the number I've put in here.
And I guess there's no way that you would know
that this isn't Rob's number,
but you're just gonna have to trust me on this.
You will notice that it is a Houston, Texas area code,
but that is Jim Lemon's number.
We better remember to actually delete this before
we post the video because otherwise I bet you everyone's
gonna be calling this number.
Anyways, here's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna hit call, and you're gonna see,
it's gonna route through Google Voice,
and then it's gonna show up here on his phone.
First thing I have to do is just say my name.
Jim, oh, It already went through.
And there we go. (phone ringing)
Not only that, it's ringing through this.
This is currently ringing.
So I could be potentially pick it up here,
or I could pick it up through his phone,
and the entire call remains anonymous,
because I am calling this number
which is not Rob's number.
So that is how we will be communicating
with the scammers.
(phone ringing)
I mean, I feel like we've done the preparation we need to.
We tested out the Google Voice.
I think it's time to start reaching out
to some of these scammers.
So in preparation for this, what I've done,
as I've been seeing comments, 'cause here's the thing,
on my channel guys, I probably get 20 of these comments
a day that are just absolute scams.
And so I've been taking screenshots of some,
and this is how we're gonna start out here.
We're gonna pretend like you're somebody watching
a YouTube video, one of my videos, or one of maybe
these other financial people,
and you see one of these comments.
And let's say you don't understand investing,
you don't understand what any of this,
so you see something like this and you believe it.
So here's the first one right here.
"If you invest your BTC, Bitcoin, with her,
"you will never regret that you invest with her,
"because she's 100% per legit, via."
And then it includes a phone number.
Then there was somebody who responded
and said "You're gonna be thrilled
"of her Bitcoin investment service."
And it includes the same number.
So, let's see.
Let's send her a message, and what I'm gonna do,
let's, 'cause I'm an older person here.
Jimmy is born in 1964,
he doesn't really understand Bitcoin.
So we're gonna send a message, and we're gonna kinda say,
hey you know, I'm new to this whole Bitcoin thing,
I'm a little bit wary of it, and we'll send that message
and we'll see if we can get a response.
(mysterious music)
First one sent.
I'm nervous man. (laughs)
We'll go to the next one now.
So this an interesting one.
This is a comment that said, "This video is good,
"but I think this guy's method is much better."
And it's a link to a YouTube video.
So we're gonna see what this method is.
And the other trick they do is they'll have a bunch
of fake accounts upvote the comment,
that way it just gives it that look
of, oh this is legitimate if all of these people agree.
So, we'll see exactly what this is.
Rg V4.
I wonder if the video's still gonna be live even.
And coming to the link, yep, so video unavailable.
So I'm guessing because, someone probably reported it
as a scam.
I'm guessing that's why the video is unavailable here.
So that one isn't going to work.
The next commend that we have here gives us a website
called FunOnlineWork.com.
"It's a cool video, but the only method
"that made a profit is FunOnlineWork.com."
So let's assume you're looking for online work
and you want it to be fun, so FunOnlineWork.com,
what more do you need in life, you know.
Okay, so look at this right here.
It's showing us searching available spots
in the United States.
Two seconds left to get paid, redirecting us.
And this is essentially bringing us to...
Where has this brought us?
At just a blank white page here, so I don't know.
Okay, we're still connected to the VPN,
so we're still safe here, where they don't know.
Okay, there we go.
All right so this is where this brings us.
(computer chimes)
"Get paid $100 in just two easy steps.
"Congrats, 76 spots left in the United States."
Oh now it's 73, it keeps goin' down.
"What you have to do is copy text below."
Ooh, this is getting, this is getting interesting here,
'cause this is what they're trying to get us to do here.
"Copy text below and paste it in seven
"YouTube video comments, then return here.
"Comment detectors notify us when you're done."
So this is how comments like this right here,
see this on my video, this was on a bunch of my videos.
This is how these comments are getting there.
When people go to FunOnlineWork.com,
their task is to comment this on seven YouTube videos.
So, basically, the more people who see this comment,
the more it's getting spread all over,
and then the more people are gonna click it,
and more people are gonna plaster this all over YouTube.
So these may not actually be robots,
this is people who stumble upon this website
and they think this is gonna get them paid.
And you see this countdown here of the spots,
it's showing them, they have 28 spots, 27 spots left.
They're trying to get you, the urgency is here.
So this is what they're saying.
"Why we pay you?
"Shared comments go viral
"which is the cheapest advertising.
"Try it, just takes five minutes.
"You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain."
And they want me to copy and paste the same comment
that was on my video here.
So, and then they're saying we're gonna get $100.
And look at this in the bottom.
"As seen on ABC, NBC, MSNBC, Fox News, CBS."
Everything about this tells you this is just not legitimate.
And the countdown timer is still at one, so that countdown
timer is totally bogus.
And you've got these things popping up at the bottom
telling you about people who are making $100.
So, right off the bat, this explains
where a lot of these comments
are actually coming from, that's crazy.
Do you wanna, think we should make a fake YouTube channel?
Commented on seven videos.
You know what I'm gonna do?
I bet you there's no way they're verifying
that you left these comments.
I'm just gonna say that we did it.
'Cause there's no possible way they would be able
to verify if someone left those seven comments.
So let's just hit the button and claim that we did
and see what the next step is here.
Same exact thing.
We're gonna click here to copy.
So that's copied, and then let's assume we did it.
I don't think there's any way they could possibly verify
that we did.
And there we go.
So basically, we, had you done this and copied and pasted
that on seven videos, nobody would know that you had.
- I immediately started getting results.
- A testimonial for Misha Wilson,
who has helped us earn 12k

- Had you followed this, this series of steps here,
you would have commented this on seven videos
because you think that's part of the process.
'Cause they're gonna verify that you commented,
and then you're gonna make $100.
So let's say you actually did that.
You actually commented this on seven videos,
then you click on your button to redeem,
and you get $100.
And it simply redirects you to a site that's trying
to sell you some bogus thing here
called TheCommissionMultiplier.com.
I mean, just think about how disappointed you would be
from that entire process.
You're gonna post it on seven videos,
and people are gonna see that comment,
and they're gonna end up on the site,
and they're gonna post it on seven videos.
And they just know that a certain percentage of people
are gonna sit through this bogus 32 minute video
and then sign up for whatever the opportunity is.
I can almost guarantee you, they're gonna sell you
a digital product here on something related
to passive income, The Commission Multiplier,
I don't know what this is, but we're not gonna sit
through this 32 minute video here.
We're gonna continue on.
But this scam right here, what it appears they're doing
is just collecting as many leads as possible
through that bogus comment to get $100 opportunity.
And then they're just redirecting you to, essentially,
the top level of a funnel here, where eventually they're
gonna try to get you to purchase
some kind of digital product.
And they're showing all these testimonials.
Maybe they're legitimate, maybe they're not.
Guys, what do you think, you know?
Use your own commonsense with this.
But this is absolute bogus right here,
what they're doing here with having people comment
just go get more views on this landing page.
Guys, so the very next comment here is from Dimitar Kosev.
This one is EasyLaptopLife.com.
If it brings me to the same website,
I'm gonna be like, my mind is gonna be blown man.
What if all these scams funnel to one offer,
that would be crazy.
But we'll try this one, EasyLaptopLife.com.
- [Woman] I immediately started
getting results. - It started over!
Get out of my life!
Get away, get away!
I don't wanna see this.
- [Rob] I thought it actually--
- No freakin' way.
- Oh, did it really? - It's the same exact scam.
It's gonna ask me to paste this in seven comments.
Same one, but now it's given me a different website
called Get Paid Home.
That wasn't the name of the first one, was it,
let me look.
The first one was Fun Online Work.
And then this one was called Easy Laptop Life,
and now they want me to paste one that says GetPaidHome.com.
And let's see.
Let's click here to copy, and then let's click here
to get $100.
As seen on CNBC, CBS, and it brings us back
to the Commission Multiplier.
- I immediately started getting results.
I've just made over $5,000 - It doesn't stop!
How do they do this? (laughs)
(Rob laughs)
- [Man] We wanna share a quick--
(upbeat jazzy music)
- Right, I got a friend.
I could reach out to him and I could see if he could
do some research on this and see if he could track down
the location or find out anything
about who's running these sites.
Oh I have his text, I can text him, that'll work.
Oh my god, I Just looked down at my phone
and I saw the text I'd sent myself, "Hello Ryan",
and (laughs) I'm just like, no way.
But I forgot that I sent that to myself.
(sighs) Oh man.
All right, I'm gonna text Tyler, because he knows
a lot about this type of stuff,
and I'm gonna ask him if he can somehow track down
who owns these websites.
So we sent that.
I'm not gonna reveal his identity on this
'cause he's a friend of mine,
but I'll put this on two, that way if he gets back
to us, it'll ding.
All right, well I think it's time for,
time for the next one here.
(bright electronic music)
They responded, right here.
I can't believe that, the old number that we texted.
All right so we got our first response.
All right, she says, "Hello, welcome Jim.
"I can help you whenever you are ready."
All right, I think, if you were somebody who was,
you know, 60, what'd I say, 57 years old
looking to invest in Bitcoin to retire soon.
It seems like my only path, but you have a lot of questions.
How can I purchase it?
Can I have the coin mailed to me?
You're gonna be skeptical right?
So I think I'm going to, (sighs) I think we should
try to get some information
about who we're talking to here.
So, I am ready but I have some questions
because this is all new to me.
"For starters I did not get your name,
"and where are you from?"
So, do you think that's good?
I don't wanna overload her or him.
Who knows who we're talking to here.
It said her in the comment, but who knows.
I don't wanna send them too many questions
to where they may say, oh this person's, you know,
but I mean, a lead's a lead, so I guess.
We sent this at 11:59, they responded by 12:10.
Took 'em 11 minutes.
And then it took me 11 minutes to respond.
We both responded in 11 minutes.
All right, all right. (laughs)
(Rob laughs) Let's continue here.
What's the next one?
So these next ones are other websites.
I think I kinda wanna have sent, I wanna get another chat
going on here, so, here we go.
All right, this is another one.
It says, "Kevin helped me so much with earning money."
That's pretty big.
And then Alyssa Curry responded, "Contact Kevin
"and earn legit money."
What's the best kind of money out there?
The best kind of money is obviously legit money.
I'd like to earn some legit money, you know?
Workin' a job, I wanna learn how to work without,
let's say I'm, you know, doing manual labor.
I've got a bad shoulder, I wanna try to earn
some legit money without that.
So, that's gonna be the dialogue here for Kevin.
Let's get this one going.
We already got a response.
Wait, why is she identifying herself as a hacker.
"I'm from Texas and I'm hacker Olivia."
We'll continue this dialogue in a minute.
I wanna get another one going here with Kevin.
See this is, I really wanna try to appeal.
I would love for somebody to hear a story about somebody,
and then say, you know, I'm not gonna scam this person.
I know that's not gonna happen at the same time,
you know? - No.
- But I really, I would just to love to see
a shred of empathy from these scammers.
I've a bad shoulder, and I have less
than $1,000 in saving.
Can't make ends meet.
If I go back to work I know
I will just injure myself further.
My body is giving out, is that too far? (laughs)
- [Rob] (laughs) Yes
- Okay, "Hey Kevin, I'm 56 years old,
"and I was just laid off from work.
"I have a bad shoulder and I have less than 1,000
"in savings, just can't make ends meet.
"If I go back to work I know
"I will just injure myself further.
"No options really, but I saw you help people earn money,
"and I'm hoping it does not involve manual labor."
Okay, the message has been sent to Kevin.
All right what so, "I'm from Texas and I'm hacker Olivia."
I think what I'm gonna do now is mirror her a little bit,
so I'm gonna say, Hi Olivia, I am from,
I'm from Texas too.
That's my, look, wait a second.
Did she look up my area code?
Maybe she's doing that to make me think,
Oh wow, this is a person from my state.
I'm gonna relate to this person,
because what are the odds of that?
I mean, I don't know.
That's a weird coincidence, if that's the case.
I'm gonna mention that.
I'm gonna say I'm from Texas too.
We'll find out what part of Texas,
and then we're gonna Google some stuff
about that area, and we're gonna fact check Olivia,
and make sure that, you know, these details
are all lining up.
I'm gonna say, what part of Texas?
Oh I wrote Rexas.
(Rob laughs)
(laughs) That's gonna give me away.
"Hi Olivia, I'm from Texas too, what a coincidence.
"This is good because I always like dealing with people
"in my own backyard.
"What part of Texas?"
And then we're gonna fact check her.
All right, until the next response.
