Passive Income Ideas 🤑 ($500+ A Month With Amazon Affiliate Links)

how's it going today guys I hope you're
having a fantastic day and in this video
we're gonna be talking about how to make
passive income utilizing Amazon
affiliate links now I have so many
people that are always asking me how do
you make passive income how can you make
passive income online how do you have a
side hustle how can you make an extra
stream of income and so I was thinking
about doing a weekly video on this
channel here talking about something
related to passive income whether I do a
couple of videos in a row on a certain
method of earning passive income or
maybe a different one every single week
so if you guys would be interested in
seeing that on this channel drop me a
comment down below just so I know how
many people are actually interested in a
weekly video on pass
ive income now I use
Amazon affiliate links it is one of my
sources of income for my online business
it's not a huge piece of it but it is
definitely enough to be you know
significant and so maybe in a different
video I can walk you guys through
exactly how much money I'm making using
Amazon affiliate links in my YouTube
descriptions on the topic of passive
income though I did just release a
course that is all about my main source
of passive or residual income which is
my membership site as well as my
investing course and this is a course
that is all about creating online
courses or a membership site and
educating people online it is called
course creation companion and it is
completely free this is about a 50
lecture course I put together that's all
about how to make money being an online
educator whether it's through a course
or a membership site and so if you guys
want to enroll in that free course I'm
going to be including a link down in the
description below and that is the where
the majority of my revenue comes from as
far as uh you know my online business it
comes from my course and my membership
site okay so first of all I want to
briefly explain what exactly affiliate
marketing is I know a lot of people are
familiar with this but if you're brand
new you might not understand what
exactly affiliate marketing is affiliate
marketing is essentially when these
large retailers are going to be paying
people for directing traffic or
directing sales to their platform and so
essentially what they're going to be
doing is they're going to be giving you
what's called an affiliate link and when
anybody clicks on that link it's going
to track their activity and if they make
a purchase on that page
they enroll or maybe visit that page
you're going to get credit for that and
you'll get some kind of commission in
the process so what Amazon does is they
allow people to refer sales to Amazon so
let's say you're recommending a
particular product and somebody clicks
on your link and then they buy that
product while now you're going to get a
commission check from Amazon as a result
so there are essentially four different
components to the Amazon affiliate
process and number one starts with you
as the affiliate site now this could be
your own blog this could be your
Instagram page or my case this is my
youtube channel and this is where I am
deriving the traffic from and so there
are a number of different ways you can
incorporate Amazon affiliate links the
way that I do it on my channel is often
by recommending books or recommending
products to other people and 99% of the
time all I'm recommending is books
that's primarily what I recommend is
books to people and then they click on
my affiliate links and they're directed
over to Amazon but you could be doing a
product review or a product endorsement
of some kind and as a result people are
going to be clicking on the links in
your blog or in the case of YouTube down
in the description of your YouTube
videos the second piece of this is the
affiliate network and in this case it's
going to be Amazon with the Amazon
affiliate network and so what they are
doing is they are supplying the
affiliate links to you you have a back
end dashboard where you can view how
many clicks you're getting how many
referrals you're getting and how much
money you're making and so what Amazon
is doing for you is they're supplying
the links and they are tracking the
traffic you're sending to these links
and paying you a commission on the sales
that count towards your commission based
on what product you're recommending the
third piece of this is the buyer that is
somebody who's going to click on that
link they're directed over to Amazon via
your affiliate link and now they're
going to hopefully make a purchase over
on Amazon now here's where things get
pretty interesting with the Amazon
affiliate links what you have is a
tracking cookie and that tracking cookie
is active for 24 hours so whatever that
person buys on Amazon in the next 24
hours you're going to earn a commission
on it it doesn't matter if they buy one
thing or if they buy ten things but you
make commission on the first order
placed within 24 hours now a common
misconception is that you're gonna make
money
on every order in that 24-hour period
but you're only gonna make money on that
first order so if for some reason
somebody went to Amazon and they did
five different orders in one day under
your affiliate link you're only going to
get Commission on that first order but
this is why people love Amazon affiliate
links myself in particular because you
can make Commission pretty much on
anything these people are buying as long
as it's in a category where you can earn
commission we're going to go over that
later on in this video what categories
on Amazon you can refer to and make a
commission on and what that commission
percentage is and then forth and finally
once you have referred that traffic over
to Amazon once that person has made a
purchase you're going to get your
commission check the Amazon affiliate
checks come out every single month and
you have to meet a one hundred dollar
threshold in order to receive payment
but as long as you do that you'll be
getting your Amazon check every single
month for the orders that are qualified
for a affiliate Commission okay so now
we're going to go over an example of
exactly what this Amazon affiliate link
process might look like by looking at a
video by refusing to settle that is a
book review on the book Rich Dad Poor
Dad by Robert Kiyosaki it's a book most
of us are familiar with and this is an
Avenue a lot of people use to make money
with the Amazon affiliate links you do a
review of a product and so in this case
you do a review of a popular book and
you link up the book in the description
below hoping that people will click on
that link and decide to purchase that
book after hearing your review so this
video in particular had 143 thousand
views and let's go ahead and assume that
2% of the people who watch this video
are actually going to go down into the
description and click on that Amazon
affiliate link meaning that that
generated 2,860 clicks now of those
2,860 people let's assume that 10% of
people are going to buy so of all that
traffic let's say you get about 286
people to actually buy a copy of Rich
Dad Poor Dad well how much money have
you made so Rich Dad Poor Dad is a
relatively inexpensive book you can get
a paperback copy for $7 and so when you
multiply the 286 buyers by $7 it's going
to result in two thousand two dollars in
total sales now the books category on
Amazon pays out a 4.5
percent advertiser fee so for being an
Amazon affiliate you're going to get 4.5
percent of that total sale and so on
these sales of Rich Dad Poor Dad you
would make about $90 and nine cents now
I know that might not be very exciting
but keep in mind we are talking about a
$7 book here and recommending books is
actually not a very good way to make
money with Amazon affiliate links
because it's such an inexpensive item
and different categories on Amazon will
pay a different commission rate and at
the end of this video we're going to go
over that and look at that under the
guidelines as far as what Amazon is
going to pay you as an advertiser fee
based on the product segment but the one
thing you have to remember is that most
people are not going to only buy a book
and maybe in another video I will show
you guys this but I have sold so many
different things under my Amazon
affiliate links when all I do is refer
people to purchase a book and whatever
people buy they're in that first 24
hours in that first order you're going
to make a commission on in fact I would
say that about 40% of my sales for my
Amazon affiliate links are not ebooks at
all or anything that I recommended that
person to take a look at they end up
buying things entirely different I've
sold people cat food I've sold a $1500
vacuum cleaner that was my best
Commission ever maybe I'll do a video on
that and show you guys that but you can
make a commission on whatever these
people are buying and so I would say
almost half of what they're going to be
buying has nothing to do with what you
sent them there to buy in the first
place just because that tracking cookie
is active for 24 hours and you're able
to make a commission on whatever they're
purchasing in that first order in that
24 hour window and so while ebooks are
not going to make you a lot of money
they are going to generate a lot of
clicks over to Amazon and you're gonna
make the bulk of your money with these
products that people are buying that
have nothing to do with what you
referred them to and I know it's kind of
a crazy concept but that's actually how
I make most of my money with Amazon
affiliate links is by selling products
that I've never even used looked at or
recommended ever alright so if the book
example that we just went over wasn't
exciting for you I'm hoping this Amazon
affiliate link example is going to make
you more excited about the potential
you have here to earn passive income
with the use of Amazon affiliate links
and other affiliate marketing avenues so
this was another video I found that was
a review of the Bose QC 35 headphones
now as I'm sure you can imagine it's
more expensive to buy a pair of
headphones than it is to buy a copy of a
paperback book that's been out for over
25 years or something like that
so let's go ahead and go over an example
here looking at these Bose headphones
and how much this person is
realistically making from this video
that is recommending this product so
this video got in total two million two
hundred thousand views and I would say
that again about two percent of the
people are going to be clicking on to
that page meaning that probably resulted
in 44 thousand clicks of that Amazon
affiliate link now in the example going
over Rich Dad Poor Dad I was assuming
that 10% of the people would actually
buy that book but for this example
because these headphones are $349 I'm
going to assume that one percent of
people are actually going to buy ninety
nine percent are going to see the price
and then walk away and not purchase
those headphones so even if one percent
converted of those two percent who
clicked that's going to be four hundred
forty buyers on those 2.2 million people
who viewed that video and keep in mind
guys this is terrible conversion here
these are probably worst case scenario
numbers on those 440 sales at three
hundred forty nine dollars a pop that is
a hundred fifty three thousand five
hundred dollars in sales now the other
thing that makes this also interesting
is the fact that you're gonna make a six
percent commission on referrals for
headphones not a four point five percent
because books physical books only pay
you a four point five percent advertiser
fee and that six percent advertiser fee
is going to be just over nine thousand
dollars in revenue from Amazon affiliate
links so hopefully that example there
got you a little bit more excited about
the potential you have here to make
money with Amazon affiliate links now
the one thing I will say is this it's no
secret out there that you can make a
killing by doing reviews of headphones
and other electronics and so as a result
that is a very competitive niche there's
all kinds of different niches out there
that you can
- as far as creating an Amazon referral
website or creating a YouTube channel
where you review different products and
I could go on for hours about different
examples of ways you could do this and
so there are categories that are going
to be extremely competitive and I can
tell you just from looking at it that
headphones are one of them that's a very
competitive category but there are so
many different potential ways you can
make money with Amazon affiliate links
that you just have to be creative and
figure out your niche and figure out how
to get some traffic and get people
clicking your links and end up getting
that passive income from those sales so
now what we're gonna do we're gonna jump
over and take a look at what Amazon is
actually going to pay you for commission
based on the product category and this
should give you an idea of what category
or niche you might want to get into if
you're gonna start some kind of Amazon
affiliate business so first of all if
you planned on doing a wine website or a
wine YouTube channel you're going to
want to think of a different idea
because Amazon pays 0% on the purchase
of any gift cards and any wine from
Amazon if you're going to be doing video
games and consoles this is not a good
niche to get into they only pay a 1%
advertiser fee on video games and
consoles if you're referring to sales of
television sets or digital video games
you earn 2% pcs PC parts DVD and blu-ray
you're looking at a 2.5% advertiser fee
if you're referring to sales of Amazon
fresh or to the toys you'll earn a 3%
advertiser fee if you're referring to
Amazon products like the Amazon fire the
Amazon - or Amazon Kindle you'll earn a
4% advertiser fee using our Rich Dad
Poor Dad example and also what I do by
referring physical books Health Products
personal care sports kitchen auto and
baby you're gonna make a 4.5% advertiser
fee if you refer sales of digital music
groceries physical music handmade
products on Amazon or digital videos
you'll make a 5% advertiser fee if you
refer sales of outdoor products and
tools 5.5 percent in my opinion that
could be a very interesting category
that pays on very nice advertiser fee of
5.5% 6% is where our headphones exam
but came from with the bose qc25 you get
6% on headphones beauty musical
instruments business and industrial
supplies if you refer sales of a payroll
Amazon smart tvs amazon firetv jewelry
luggage shoes handbags and accessories
watches or Amazon echo devices you earn
a 7 percent commission so just for an
example of an idea there maybe you
wanted to start an Instagram page all
about luxury watches and then once a
week or twice a week you make a post of
a watch you can buy over on Amazon and
you link it up in the description or in
your Instagram bio you just have to get
creative and think of different ideas to
get these products in front of potential
buyers and now we're moving into the
most profitable categories you earn an
8% advertiser fee on furniture home
products home improvement lawn and
garden pet products pantry and just keep
in mind guys this is as of right now and
these figures are probably going to
change and so I'll link it up down in
the description below the actual page
where you can view what amazon is paying
you for these product categories but
just do your own due diligence and check
this out yourself before you go ahead
and invest a massive amount of time or
money into carving out some traffic in
one of these niches and I'm sure at some
point down the road these numbers may
change as well and then finally you'll
get a 10% advertiser fee on Amazon
fashion their private label men's in
kids so those are actual products Amazon
is making themselves and selling under
their private label and then you have
luxury beauty products and Amazon coins
now if you're not familiar with Amazon
coins these are basically virtual tokens
that are used during in-app purchases so
if you wanted to buy something in a game
or pay for something within an app on
the Amazon devices you would use Amazon
coins for that and you can earn a 10%
advertiser fee refering sales of those
Amazon coins and anything else that was
not mentioned is going to fall into the
4% category as far as the advertiser
fees go so you can make anywhere from 1%
to 10% advertiser fees on the products
you're recommending on Amazon excluding
as we said gift cards and wine purchases
and so that's why it's very important to
consider what category is going to
either
- a lot of clicks or it's a category
that's going to have a high enough price
item that the commission percentage is
actually worth it and like I said ebooks
is probably not the best category
because you're getting a four and a half
percent commission on a very inexpensive
item however I do get a lot of clicks on
those links as a result just because a
lot of people are interested in reading
ebooks and I also get a lot of bounties
on referrals to the kindle services and
audible but that's something we can talk
about in another video if you guys are
interested the bounty payments you can
get from Amazon as well for referring to
some of their subscription businesses
but anyways guys that's gonna wrap up
this video I want to cover a couple of
key points first of all keep in mind
like I said about 40% of my sales are of
items that I did not refer people to in
the first place whether it's vitamins or
supplements or a $1,500 vacuum cleaner
you're gonna find a lot of people are
buying stuff that you never recommend it
in the first place and that can actually
be where you earn the bulk of your money
doing Amazon affiliate links second of
all every niche out there is going to
have a different level of competition I
think the headphone niche is probably
very crowded but what you're going to
want to do is do some market research
and try to find a niche that's not going
to be terribly difficult to break into
and you know generate some traffic to
get clicks on your Amazon affiliate
links and when it comes down to looking
at the advertiser fees you're gonna want
to make sure you're looking at products
that have higher advertiser fees or high
ticket items that are gonna earn you a
very nice Commission so you can look at
it from both sides you may be a 2%
doesn't seem appealing but if you can
earn 2% on a $1000 item while all of a
sudden that became a lot more appealing
so you have to look at both the average
ticket cost of the products you're
recommending as well as the Commission
bracket that that falls into but thank
