what is up YouTube this is Ryan Hildreth
here with Hayden pedal the young
entrepreneur but maybe some people don't
know about that haha it's been a while
the young entrepreneur but I wanted to
bring Hayden on the channel he hasn't
posted in a bit I haven't heard from him
and I wanted to see what Hayden has been
up to he's started a new business he's
doing some social media marketing and I
just wanted to let him know or let
everyone know what he's been up to

how you doing man good thanks for the
introduction
and welcome everybody and thank you for
inviting me back on the channel it has
been a long time since I've been on your
channel my own channel at least a year
yeah it's been a long time a long time a
lot of people didn't know last time Ryan
I don't think we posted on YouTube about
it but I was at Ryan's wedding in
California last time I saw you which is
a while ago but yeah like you said if
we're talking about that started new
businesses been working on social media
marketing there's a lot of new things
I've had ups I've had downs I've had
partnerships that have that have failed
I've been involved with multi-million
dollar companies that actually failed
this year Wow there was there was a
business that I got involved with for a
while I had a bit of a partnership with
them and the company actually end up
going under they end up running out of
money so in that was on their part of
her social media and it was cool it was
actually interesting to see getting
involved to that level just like how
quickly and it's really important for
people to understand this how quickly
you could have something and then see it
slip away so whenever we talk to people
especially about social media marketing
we talk about you know making sure that
you have multiple clients because people
was something that I see in our Facebook
group a lot when we talk about social
media is that people will be like I had
three four clients and then two of them
dropped off you gotta understand like
when you're doing a business like this
your incomes and cut way down compared
to what used to be you can be going from
three four thousand dollars a month down
to a thousand dollars and that's the
significant difference so like I said
I've seen that I start up a business
using social media is what I'm doing
right now starting up a vegan chocolate
bar company a lot of people laugh when I
say it but it's something
passionate about and it's something that
it's not a huge market for right now or
there is it there is a huge market but
there's not a lot of competitors in the
market and it's something that I really
want to get going on so that's been
something I've been working on and
social media is gonna be my it's gonna
be exactly what how I grow it and I'm
gonna show you guys back on my youtube
channel we'll see it we'll do a few more
videos I'm actually gonna be documenting
exactly how it goes from start to finish
awesome that's great man that's great
and yeah I mean certainly like with
social media marketing
you don't have to just rely on you know
getting other clients like if you want
to start your own business you can
promote your own business with social
media marketing it's a skill set and I
think everyone should have it going back
to the company that you said you were
working with and their main issue was
there was their marketing was getting
like selling their product or what was a
startup okay it was so much that was the
issue the issue was that they literally
they kind of bit off more than they
could chew so you could only do much so
much people gotta understand that you
can't control everything you can't
control how much something costs on
their back end and because this this
company I was working with was a very
advanced company is in what they were
trying to do was very aggressive and it
was almost to the length of like they
needed a website just but as good as
Amazon's website they needed a lot of
security protection and of just costing
a lot more than what they thought so
also so much the branding and the social
media that was the issue it was more or
less I think just the actual development
of the company in the structure of the
company itself that cost to to collapse
yeah definitely and it sounded like
maybe maybe they were were they
bootstrapping it or were they did they
get some VC money or something like that
oh there was investors they had they had
investors involved it just it was enough
you know how the best thing I can
explain to some people who don't know a
lot about like the money you're talking
about it like if you look at shark tank
type of thing they had the investors
they had people there but it just wasn't
enough money to actually keep the
company going it ended up being again
they just ran out of money that's how it
was it's so funny because a lot of
younger people and a lot of people
but first get into entrepreneurship they
think that that's the type of business
they need to start right saying I'm
gonna put it put its perspective because
in my household here I run we run
technically three businesses out of this
house yeah
two which have had pretty much zero
startup costs so we got my girlfriend's
business she does eyelash extensions we
built a little bit of an additional in
the house for her but she started this
originally in this room where I'm
sitting in right now which is the front
of the house this is my front door right
here she originally started her business
in this room with zero money and how she
promoted it was using social media she
didn't spend any advertising dollars she
bought a bed on on we have kijiji it's
like Craig Glick Craigslist for you guys
in America yeah bought a bed for their
on there a little bit of equipment she
spent almost no money and that's what a
lot of people underneath understand it
that our young entrepreneurs that it's
not about like I'm gonna create this
brand new pencil company and I'm gonna
need like a million dollars to start it
we need to manufacture like there is a
ton of different businesses that people
can start for it next to no money and if
you're passionate about it a lot of
times again I'm finding the money that
you need or finding ways around it let's
face it starting something like a
marketing agency could be done with
money easily I was in the car today I
heard an advertisement for my local area
for a marketing company and I thought to
myself I'm like how easy would it have
been if the first thing I did was went
and got a ten thousand dollar loan from
the bank and just bought a new office or
rented out an office and just spent a
ton of marketing money I could have
easily gotten a bunch of clients as soon
as I started but instead what I chose to
do because I didn't have the money at
the time when we when we first start
doing slowy marketing is I went
door-to-door and I got the clients that
way so like like you said like you you
there's two different ropes you can go
but at the end of the day if you're
doing something that you're passionate
about or and you don't have the money
you don't have to keep building a lot of
the times you're gonna find ways around
it when you hit rock bottom that's when
you're the most creative in my mind it's
so true it's so true and I remember when
I reached out to you like
I saw what you were doing like some of
your videos and guys go check out his
channel some of the older videos when
when Hayden would go door to door kind
of like with an undercover Mike I was
like damn this guy is like just really
going out there and building his
business building his agency in like
bootstrapping it he had you know no
startup capital and he went out there
and just or not you know I mean so I
remember that being very inspiring so
hopefully that can inspire some people
that are watching this video that are
just getting started like you don't need
to create some product or invent
something you just need to be passionate
about a certain something and you know
figure figure it out from there in
social media marketing is a great like
first business to start and then
eventually evolve it into something else
if that's what we want
you know man is that like you said as a
skill set yeah but with that skill set
it allows you to get into places and
learn more about businesses that you
might be interested in let's say that
you are interested in starting up a bike
shop or you want to repair bicycles or
something like that some people that's
their passion I wanted to do that at one
point just that's why I'm bringing that
up I want one point my family a lot of
people don't know this my brother and
sister they were the top bikers in
Ontario and so we our family was really
involved with with not dirt bike like
mountain biking and road biking and one
thing that I want to do one thing I was
always good at is just repairing the
bike so I'm like I want to open up a
bike repair shop but if you don't know
that business sometimes that's a little
bit risky to start up with so it's a
good idea if you're doing like social
media marketing go and do marketing for
a bike shop see how the business runs be
involved in it a little bit it's kind of
like an internship but you're getting
paid mm-hmm yeah definitely definitely
and yeah you could work with some
businesses that you've always dreamed of
working with you know and it gets you in
the door number one it gets you familiar
with the business and it gets you
familiar with how to sell their product
you know so if you want to start your
own bike shop you know at least you know
how to market effectively you know how
to sell the product and you later on
down the road when you have the capital
you can open up your own bike
so um yeah it's pretty it's funny
because I think social media marketing
is kind of like at first it was like
this trend like people are like oh you
know it's just trends but it's no it's
actually a skill set that's been around
for hundreds of thousands of years it's
just it's evolved right it's marketing
but it's always through a different
platform different like I can't I can't
stress to people enough that like I just
I always talk about my girlfriend's
business because I'm so proud of what
she's done with it in the fact that I
can now see firsthand like the powerful
for me because I Richard when I thought
when I started I always used to go to
people and when I would give my pitch
thing like Oh a pulse can make a big
difference because just post up
something when I first started I didn't
know the actual power of it I really
didn't until really my girlfriend opened
my eyes a ton when she started doing her
business here and liked to see her
literally she'd be like okay I'm pretty
slow this week with clients I need a new
client okay so what are we gonna do
we'll make like a quick little video and
just say like hey guys I've got a sports
shoe just doing like an Instagram story
I've got a spot open on Tuesday if you
guys want to come in and you'd be
surprised at all some of these people
are like I'm free Tuesday well when they
booked an appointment she'd be full all
week all she had to do was post about it
all she had to do was maybe make a
little bit of a deal for somebody like
she was able to keep busy and be a stay
at home who runs a business which makes
four hundred five hundred dollars a day
doing it yeah and that and that's pretty
amazing that's pretty amazing
I'm sure a lot of women out there too
want to start their own business they
just don't know where to start so well
we have obviously been working on some
things Hayden and I have been you know
revamping for relaunch of social media
marketing mastery we have currently I
believe close to 700 students in their
agency owners but we are adding some
things because 2018 is gonna be is the
things in 2018 I feel are not all gonna
be working in 2019 and and some of the
topics are you know getting your
Facebook ad account shut down Facebook
Facebook's new policies
how to get clients right what are some
things Hayden that like you notice that
are changing and in probably in 2019 are
gonna be it's gonna be better to
implement for people your skidding
started well the fact is that I think in
my mind depending on who you are you may
have noticed that maybe a lot of people
are shifting away from Facebook and it's
more Instagram headed and what it used
to be story ads this time last year we
wouldn't have even been talking about
story as first of all Facebook didn't
have stories this time last year a lot
of things have changed in the Instagram
Facebook root area and also where you're
spending your advertising money has
changed what's effective then may not be
as effective now along with the types of
ads and like you said what used to be
okay and acceptable for Facebook on your
advertisements are no longer acceptable
you have to be a lot more careful with
what you're putting out there so a lot
has changed and that's why we've got a
we've decided to revamp the whole course
and go through and kind of like pick out
the things that are no longer working
and the great news is like you said
we've got seven hundred students in the
course what we're able to do is look at
what they have been telling us go
through the Facebook group and say okay
a lot of people are having trouble with
their ad account getting shut down why
is that what happened and we can make a
video and kind of tell people how to go
around that yeah a new apps are coming
up - there are new new platforms we're
talking about oh trying to think mostly
this visco visco I'm in my saying I'm
right do you know what I'm talking about
a lot of a lot of girls no offense
not a lot of women they like to use that
app and there's there's some areas there
that I've seen people doing a little bit
of advertising on summers there's
different apps are coming out that we're
no longer here lost you you know how it
is in this world now an app can come and
go within a few months and so there is
new new platforms that are coming in and
so it's really important to talk more
about where advertising dollars should
be going now and what works and what
doesn't exactly so we're gonna be
covering that what works what doesn't
we're also adding in like just
diversifying your agency being a
full-service agency so that because
they're there
tons of people that are door-knocking
and cold calling and doing all this
stuff and how are you gonna stand out
you know from that competition well
you're gonna have to have a full-service
agency
meaning you know how to do use Google
Ads new platform right that's gonna be
in the course how do you snapchat at how
to use Pinterest at ins things like that
you know just being more diversified so
that you could stand out from your
competitors and you know when your
facebook ad account gets shut down it's
not a big deal so yeah
Pinterest adds they've been one of my
favorite lately I because I never really
went onto Pinterest until I owned my own
home and then I realized that Pinterest
is tool and for everything that you ever
need
you're looking to design anything it's
Pinterest you guys can't see what I'm
looking at from here but I have got a
stand up desk obviously that's why I'm
kind of looking up to catch you and all
this was pretty much just like look it
up on Pinterest and the amount of
advertisements that are on Pinterest are
actually really well hidden mm-hmm
that's what got me interested in
Pinterest but I realized I was clicking
on things and like oh this takes me to
the Home Depot's website yeah you know
like I use little things like that that
I'm like okay this is a good area for
affiliate marketing it's good area for
just selling little things I saw like
men's products being sold on there and I
realize that's the another area that we
didn't talk about much in the course and
honestly I just think not that it was
different than I think it was just that
we were in different places and over in
our lives and we can use the platform as
much yeah now we as we go on we learn
more things it's important to add those
in as we go yeah and we're learning kind
of where the eyes are shifting to and in
just being just again being a
full-service agency and being able to
provide that value yeah man I mean did
you have anything else that you wanted
to talk about as far as kind of social
media marketing where you see the
landscape changing like where are the
opportunities at I mean how can someone
just get started all the time do you
think social media marketing is dead I
get that answer every time I post a
video and at the end of the day guys if
people are asking that it means that
it's not and the reason for this is
because if they people are asking this
because they are kind of shifting away
from it they're gone like I don't really
want to get involved in that that's so
2018 a lot of people
and agency last year back when it got
really popular yeah people did and then
ton of people died off and they didn't
want to do it anymore
so you're gonna look at it as an
opportunity if all these people tried it
and then they dropped off so now there's
that area for you to come in there and
sweep up all the clients that are now
available yeah so I just want to let
people know that no swish means
marketing's not dead it's and it's never
going to be dead at least as long as
there's social media but at the end of
day is this gonna continue to change
there's always gonna be markers out
there there's always gonna be
advertising out there so long as we live
in the world that we live in that's how
our economy works somebody's got to sell
you something in order for the world to
go round so remember guys it's never
gonna go away it's just gonna keep
evolving next thing you know we might
not be talking on screens in 10 years
from now think of it like that I mean
like only 18 years a
