website which would allow us to yep you
guessed it add some photo galleries so

so yeah in this video we're going to be
adding a photo gallery plugin so that we
can add some photos and show them off in
to be recommending today is a premium
plugin but it's got some really great
extensions of features to kind of expand
it from your general you know day to day
gallery plugins and give you loads of
functionality which I'm sure you're
gonna love let me show you a couple of
examples of some photo galleries that
I've recently created there's this one
here which we're going to be creating in
this video which is just a kind of box
standard simple one and then there's
also this one which I created for a
client which has got some really cool
kind of album features going on it's got
a filter kind of system so that you can
group with collections of images
together and people can click and easily
sort them as usual if you get stuck at
any point please leave me a comment
below and I'll do my best to help you
out but I think that's enough chitchat
for me let's get on the computer and get
this plugin set up okay so the program
I'm gonna be adding to our website to
create our new photo galleries is this
one here it's called envira gallery it's
a premium plugin but it's one of the
best gallery plugins I've found for
WordPress which is why I'm recommending
it today have used it on a couple of
sites and it works really well it's
compatible with things like X theme and
stuff like that and it's packed full of
features along with a load of add-ons to
add extra features going forward in
terms of pricing if we take a look and
there's a number of different packages
depending on what you're after
I've got the gold one I think which has
got you know tons of stuff with it
including Lightroom's and breadcrumbs
basically awful stuff but if you haven't
got a huge budget you could still do
most stuff with the bronze which is only
$19 now I've already purchased it and
already downloaded it so I'm now ready
to go and install it on my website so
I've got this test site here which is
running the flat Centene although this
gallery plugin will work with any theme
that you happen to be running
so what I'm gonna do is I'm just going
to create a page first where we're gonna
put the gallery but the galleries can be
put anywhere on the site you can put
them into posts into pages into the
sidebar it's basically just a little
short code that you can copy and paste
which I will show you in a second okay
so here's my new page I'm just going to
you call it photo gallery a big good
name for a photo gallery then click
publish okay so that's published I'm
just gonna add it to the menu as well so
we can easily find it
let's go into menus I'm just gonna
create a new menu this team doesn't have
a menu just yet they call it main menu
great I'll see you down to this Shirley
got pages and menus set up I'm just
doing this for the purpose of this demo
okay and I stand so I can just quickly
add photo gallery page then we need to
select but it's gonna be in the main
menu and then click Save
so now we're ready to start adding our
photo galleries so let's install the
plugin I'm gonna go to plugins and add
new then click upload and find the file
that I downloaded from the envira
gallery website seeing my downloads
there it is click open at that install
ok that's installed let's click activate
to turn it on okay so that's installed
an activator now and as mr. chair saying
that we to enter our license key in
order to get automatic updates so
obviously remember to do that you'll
find your license key within the enviro
a website in the My Account dashboard
section just copy and paste it and click
it click through there and paste it in I
won't bother doing that right now but
let's say let's get a gallery up and
running our first one so now we've got
an option down left hand side called
envira gallery we click that ok so now
we're ready to create our galleries have
to click on add new let's give it a name
so let's call it I don't know my first
gallery but you'd obviously call it
whatever it you know the photos are
about maybe it's your trip to America
I called trip to America or maybe it's
your work you did for an accountant so
it might be accountancy work I don't
know whatever you you're going to know
what you want to put so here we can add
our images so if I go here I can select
the files from my computer I've got some
images actually just a few test images
that we can play around with
in here yep these are fine they're
actually a little bit big actually let's
find you're gonna make what I make sure
that your images aren't too big you know
these are like someone over Meg which is
probably a bit too big but it's kind of
that I'm really up to you I suppose I
mean here I've got a folder optimized
where I've made the images a bit smaller
but hopefully not lost too much quality
so you can find some tools for your
computer that can do that just do a
search for an image optimizer if you've
got so many big images and you need to
make them a bit smaller so that's going
to just upload those files let's give it
a second or two okay so they've uploaded
and if we scroll down we could see the
images here say they're all very
exciting things they're pictures of
stuff to do with gates but hey there's
some pictures so in terms of sorting you
can just drag and drop if you want to
rearrange the order of the images in
terms of how they appear within your
gallery or you can set some sorting
there you know by date or name or
whatever you like we go into the config
here you can set your number of columns
in your gallery so free or for let's go
for free to start with but goes all up
to six if you like and you can include a
description um which if you want that
you can just put it in there so then
it'll put some text above or below the
gallery in here you've got the opacity
which is the transparency of the images
and we'll leave that a hundred percent
you got sorting there as well if you
like you can't select a theme it only
comes with one though I think there are
some more available on the enviro
website here you can adjust the gutter
sizes which is the space between the
images and you've got your image size
there or you can manually adjust it here
basically got loads of options for you
to play with here's the lightbox again a
couple of themes I like a lightbox and I
think it looks pretty good
because it allows people to basically
click on the image and then it pops up
in a nice sort of like boxy kind of way
and you've got a lot of options there to
do with the lightbox there's no need for
me to go through all of them and you've
got a few other bits and bobs yeah
so let's publish this gallery and then
we'll add it to our page and so it looks
like okay so that's published and now
down the right-hand side we've got our
shortcode information so if I just copy
and paste this very first one here the
envira - gallery ID equals sounds free
and then if we go into our pages and
find that gallery page that I created at
the beginning of the video there it is
and click edit then if we just paste
that shortcode in click update that
should then add the gallery to this page
okay that saved let's click view page so
here we go here's our photo gallery
looking good it's using like a masonry
effect in terms of it looks like a wall
because images are of different sizes of
CEO on up make sure that all your images
are the same size to give a nice uniform
layout if we click we've got the
lightbox which we can nicely scroll
through and yeah it's working really
good I do want to quickly mention that
there's a few add-ons available which
are pretty cool I'll just show you how
they work on another site that I'm
working on currently
now this sites using the same plugin but
it's using the album extension so
basically what that allows you to do is
is create albums of galleries so this is
an example here these are all albums and
so then when I click on one eye then get
a series of photos to do with this
particular album that one wasn't a good
example it's only every one for unit
let's have a look at this one so this
one's got two so what I'm going between
the two it's not actually scrolling
through each one of these images it's
showing us the the Bay fir'd images or
the Braham images so another example
might be if you've been traveling around
the world you might have an Australian
gallery and a America gallery and a
Europe gallery and you would place each
other
within an album and then you could show
it to presently so that when someone
clicked on Australia they pretended
Australia photos of America whatever I
hope that's clear
another great add-on it's got is where
you can filter your albums and galleries
using tags and categories you can see
that here so each photo or album is
added to a category a bit like a normal
post within WordPress and then it adds
these cool filters on the top here so as
you click it kind of filters the images
in a really coarse which you sort away
