hello I just thought while I had my
camera on just done a video for the
youtube channel which hopefully you're
watching I just thought I'd have a
could do these kind of veen log vlog
video log type videos I wish I want to
add to the channel as well as my
tutorials and what not just me you know
me and you Chang will be probably more
chatting to you as it's more one way but
you can leave comments so then you know
we can chat but anyway and what I wanted
to just talk today about is quite often
you meet people in our industry in the
web world as it were and you know
clients and experts and you know just
people that you meet day to day when
you're doing your business and you know
you make some websites and you hear
people you know they they give comments
on websites and one thing that I hear
quite a lot of is um we need to get as
much as we can above the fold people
don't scroll I don't like scrolling or
other things that you sometimes hear you
know I don't know where this comes from
it i think maybe back in the 90s when
the internet was very new we haven't
figured out how to scroll I don't know
but there's loads of websites out there
that are quite popular you know like
Amazon and and Facebook and sites like
that well you have to kind of scroll for
them to work properly you know and I was
in product pages pretty one of the
longest pages I've seen the facebook
news feed you have to scroll and
actually I thought I'd have a look
around online and it seems that there is
actually some what more than something
quite a lot of research to back up that
people do scroll so um that's just what
I it's just been bothering me and you
know so next time you're doing a website
and you can't with a lovely lovely
landing page where home page that you
know as a nice headline it teases people
in they want to go further though you
want to scroll because you know it's
enticing and you've spent hours working
on it and you know it's looking good and
there's lovely imagery and you know not
everything is in the first 600 pixels at
the page and you think you've done a
good job and you send it to the client
and they go yeah I like to look at this
but I don't like scrolling
well send them to this video and let me
tell them for you people do scroll it's
just your problem or it's some rule that
you've heard someone say once like
people bounce off pages in seven seconds
and all those kind of old rules web
design rules that kind of aren't really
rules just just do something that you
like and you want and that's creative
and new maybe that would be came anyway
that's all I wanted to say um I was not
