How To Be As Productive As Bill Gates - 5 Proven Practices

We've all heard of Bill Gates he's the inventor of the personal computer and
several times world's richest person who in the business of his life leading
Microsoft still manages to be very active in his philanthropic endeavors
but Gates didn't him out to this little success by sheer luck he's well known
for being a master of his time which makes a much more productive than most
people therefore in this video I'm gonna share with you five of Bill Gates's
proven productivity practices that you yourself can implement if you want to
emulate his level of output and be sure to watch it until the end because the
last practice is the one he attributes most to a success practice number one
place immense value on your time in a 20-17 interview Bill Gates who is joined
by Warren Buffett spoke about how important timeless to him he shared a
powerful comment stating that time is the only commodity money can't buy which
are impact rewards coming from someone who can literally buy anything he
desires because of this fact Gates is meticulous about how he schedules his
days making sure each and every moment is maximized it's been said that Bill
Gates his net worth rises by more than a hundred dollars a second which further
supports his reasoning behind making sure he uses his time wisely practice
number two structure your time as I just mentioned Bill Gates is meticulous with
his time and in order to maximize his productivity he likes to break down
tasks into manageable chunks sometimes the smallest 5-minute increments in the
world of productivity this method is called time boxing and if you want to
learn more about time boxing you can check out my book the productivity
playbook which I'll link down in the description time boxing is where you
create time slots and document what tasks you will perform during that
period for instance you may block off 30 minutes in the morning to respond to
emails for an hour in the afternoon to write a report that is coming due by
planning out your time you limit time being wasted trying to figure out what
has to do next ultimately leading to much greater
output practice number three protect your sleep a common trend I see when
saying the world's most successful people is that
majority of them get ample amounts of sleep and Bill Gates has no exception
book it swears by the fact that getting a good night's rest amplifies his
creativity levels and keeps them sharp throughout the day
well sleep makes Bill Gates feel better this fact is also well supported by
numerous studies of which one of them was from the National Sleep Foundation
that says that sleepiness can impede job performance and notes that when you're
groggy the brain is unable to process and retain information well therefore if
you want to get more done every day the name to get adequate sleep practice
number four prioritize your time understandably Bill Gates has lots of
commitments that demand his time and attention but in order to remain
productive he is diligent in prioritizing what tasks to tackle each
day for example Bill as the team that manages his Microsoft inbox filtering
thousands of emails a day leaving him with just a hundred of the most
important ones to address which he admits he doesn't usually even get
through in addition Gates avoids using to-do
lists as he finds they tend away the importance evenly across all items on
the list which simply isn't the case therefore
when demands for your time mounts staying productive means completing the
highest value tasks when possible practice number five maximize deep work
if you're even slightly interested in the world of productivity then you've
probably heard of the book deep work by Cal Newport deep work is a working state
where you were operating at your peak level for extended periods with full
concentration on a single task free from distraction and Bill Gates is no
stranger to this concept from an early age Bill Gates would park himself in
front of the computer for days at a time and not think twice about it maintaining
a flow like state as he trained himself on this new age technology some may call
this workaholism but deep work allowed gates to excel in his field and by the
tech giant that we all know and love today therefore if you want to ensure
you take your productivity to the next level remove all distractions and
leverage the power of deep work thanks for watching if you enjoyed this video
