Back in college I used to wonder how so many of my peers had time to study work
out and be social while I struggled to find time to do even one of those things
I would stay up all night wondering what I was doing wrong that had led me to
barely get my gym workouts in well everyone around me made it look
easy then one day I decided I needed to take control of my life and use it to
its fullest potential I did what anyone in that position would do in Google for
hours ways to increase my productivity which has led me to developing seven
proven strategies for working smarter and saving hours upon hours every single
week therefore in this video I'm gonna share with you my personal productivity
secrets and make sure to watch it until the end as the last one I have never
shared with anyone strategy number one maximize your morning's it is
scientifically proven that our mind is operating optimally a few hours after
waking which makes morning work periods amazingly effective a personally
scheduled my most mentally demanding tasks in the morning want to have a lot
of brainpower and quite honestly available willpower to be expended but
don't just take my word for it Jeff Bezos you know that guy who created
Amazon he schedules his most demanding meetings at 10:00 a.m. because he too
understands that as a day grows old your brain just doesn't function as well as
it does in the morning strategy number two employ the Pomodoro Technique who
knew that a silly-looking tomato timer could radically increase your work
output but in my experiences is absolutely the case as I begin my deep
work in the morning I set a 25 minute timer that designates 25 minutes of
uninterrupted work no phones no web surfing nothing I just lock in on my
tasks and go after the 25 minutes is up I then take a five minute break which
typically involves scratching the itch to check my phone or stretch my legs and
my personal experience doing two to three Pomodoro sessions in the morning
is as much as I can handle before I need a longer break but many people can
follow the sequence all day so it really depends on what works best for you
strategy number three remove distractions if you look up antonyms for
the term productive you will definitely see the word distraction and quite
honestly you may as well also see a long list of items like
phone Facebook Instagram and every other outlet that is constantly fighting for
our attention you may not have realized it but destructions can be categorized
in three different ways there are physical distractions like the papers
left on your desk and tangible distractions like email notifications
and people like your annoying sister it should be obvious if you really want to
get more done you should remove all these distractions before you get to
work to ensure you don't break your working stride once you get going
strategy number four harness the 80/20 rule the Pareto principle or 8020 rule
epitomizes working smarter not harder sure you can work until you fall over
and die put honestly be more productive is about doing the right things not more
things the 80/20 rule states that 80% of the who put our results will come from
20% of the input or action the little things are the ones that account for the
majority of the results for instance if you're a student then maybe the 20% of
the time you spend being tutored is resulting in 80% of your grades
improvements you should be constantly asking yourself whether or not you are
focusing your time in the most fruitful activities strategy number five rely on
your system we all want to benefit from a hard work whether it's in the form of
higher grades a promotion or a raise however one thing these three items have
in common is that they are partly out of your control
perhaps you write a test that was overly hard to get the grade you wanted or your
works budget didn't increase so you couldn't get promoted the failure to
achieve your goals is not always a direct result of your efforts but what
is in your control is your system and so what is this system you're talking about
it's a repeatable process for instance if I'm trying to grow my youtube channel
I could not control how many people subscribe which you can do in the
bottom-right corner of the video but I can't control the process of producing
one video a week every single week year after year well it is inevitable that
over time your system will bring you success focusing on establishing a solid
repeatable process will keep you going in the right direction until that
success is realized strategy number six automate if the technology that you find
in your smartphone was powerful enough to put man on the moon then it can truly
be set to automate some of your day-to-day tasks take email for example
typical professionals spend on average 1/3 of their week responding to emails
of which 30% of them were not urgent or even important so what if
you automated email response after finding myself drowning in emails at
work I soon employed automated email responses using canned answers that
saved me hours each and every day allowing me to focus on my high-value
activities strategy number seven delegate why do something yourself that
you can get someone else to do for you right well certain things in life
shouldn't be delegated like raising your child delegation is a powerful tool when
trying to get more done by delegating non-core costs you not only get to free
up your time we can leverage other people's expertise making your output
not only less time intensive but if higher-quality - for example I like to
hire freelancers to take on design projects it's not only frees up my time
to focus on my business but it also provides me was graphics that I could
never produce on my own once you begin to harness the time of others you will
