marketing questions online business
questions you might have

I really do want to get through as many

gonna get through as many questions as I

we're all go and I'll start answering as
many questions I've got an hour for this
and just a heads up if you're stuck at
home if you're kind of feeling a little
bored like you don't have enough to do

there's my early plug you're gonna hear
that one again if you stick around for a
while but the real goal here is to just
go all in on the questions so Nicole
which she's in such a great niche I love
what she's absolutely doing so she's got
a pretty deep dive question I'm gonna
read through this with you really
quickly so she's working on her product
and the launch materials and they've got
two questions about the product in the
launch so she's doing a Jeff Walker
product launch formula style so question
number one is regarding the fourth video
which is the sales video so she's
following Jon Benson's VSL celebrator
script what do I think about using the
delay button that appears the time you
announced the price you know the answer
is test but you're hesitant to test
something to break so um a the one thing
I would test is the tech itself on every
device and every browser you can get
your hands on it does increase
conversions right like letting it be a
training video so for those who don't
know what we're talking about so her
sales video is playing below the sales
video there's no button yet because the
video is just playing and you actually
reveal the button like that whole area
that has a button and maybe a little bit
of sales copy maybe your money back
gaurantee maybe some testimonials all of
that displays when you make the offer in
the video so they're gonna watch the
video with their guard down they don't
feel like it's a sales video because
there's not an offer below there's not a
button below this does work better I
found that on wordpress based setups it
can be a little bit glitchy err on some
browsers if you're
on leadpages which is what I personally
run my pages on it works wonderfully and
that is how we have it running on ours
what you might want to do on the last
day is possibly turn it off because you
got to think about so the early people
in the first day the first few days
they're there they're new to it they
have not watched that content but when
you do that last chance email you want
to make sure that they have the ability
to buy without watching a 45 minute
presentation later in the game so if
you're going to maybe turn that off at
some point
turn it off towards the end because
they're absolutely will be a segment of
people who are like I want this I'm
watching okay how do I get it okay how
do I get it and they get bored and they
leave so you say you you kind of need to
facilitate both so I would think
starting with the button I'm being
hidden until a certain time and then
also at the end also do you have a
retargeting written sales page so people
who go to your video they watch your
sales video they go to the checkout page
and they don't purchase are you
retargeting them with a written sales
letter with some other sales content
this is another mechanism you can use to
catch the the group of the segment or
the audience who don't actually kind of
make it that far or you can use a time
delay pixel on your actual sales page
you can delay the pixels through Google
tag manager so you could say anybody who
watched at least seven minutes of the
video or if you're using Wistia for your
videos there's a way to create audiences
and tags and do fancy fancy automation
that stuff is definitely not necessary I
think having a video sales page having a
text alternative that you can send
people to is extremely common and then
on the last day I probably would reveal
the button sooner maybe 15 seconds in
you can have like a sub-headline below
it and then you could even have a sub
headline and some testimonials below
it's for the first like 90 seconds and
then you could sneak the button in
between those two things
so it doesn't really change the page
much but you're ultimately right there's
there's some challenges on how do we
display this how do we do this but when
we've hit the button in it works and
when the tech works it works really well
question number two do I have any
opinions on length of the launch you're
thinking about two options a seven day
or a ten day so we do a lot of seven day
launches
that that seems to be a really good
window for us I think irrelevant all you
would be doing on a tenday versus a
seven-day is you're extending the number
of days in the middle that you're gonna
have that lull in sales do you have
great content to fill those days if not
keep it shorter I think shorter and
sweeter and in and out seven days lets
you hit all of the the specific dates if
you're launching it say on a Friday
doing 10 days we'd give you two weekends
and that might actually be a good thing
for you there so just just rock it out I
think you're gonna you're gonna love
what you've created your audience loves
you you've built a lot of goodwill so I
think that's gonna you're gonna be
amazed at the results here so Thiago so
Thiago is in Lisbon Portugal and Thiago
works with small business owners so he's
been doing the consulting the local SEO
game and he asks what would be my
strategy if I was still doing the local
business agency thing during this crisis
most clients are scared and they're
postponing decisions some are even
canceling contracts what would be my
positioning and strategy you know be the
same positioning and strategy that it
has always been but maybe a little bit
more virtual and that is the most the
absolute most helpful person in their
world when it comes to digital marketing
and saving their business because that's
literally the point that a lot of
business owners are thinking about
whether they're technically on the verge
of going bust or if they actually are
that's the thought process you know this
mind we have runs to the worst-case
scenario and fear can be absolutely
overwhelming so people are stuck in fear
they're consuming a ton of content and
and how do I help those people focus our
energy channel the energy and maybe
modify their businesses in ways that's
actually going to help them get greater
results so I start teaching for free
I loved the meetup.com type group but
those groups aren't going on right now
so you I would just take that over to
zoom and I would just literally take my
meetup group and I would start hosting
zoom calls I would do one per week free
maybe even two per week free and then
it's about helping people with what they
really need so right now there's people
who need a strategy shift okay they just
literally they gotta figure something
out there's people who have been selling
physical products and stores they have
inventory and now they need to sell
online that would be a totally different
thing so it's it's getting more unique
the solutions you need to be presenting
to your people are getting more unique
for each individual so you need to have
more conversations you need to be
putting out more content you need to be
attracting more people in to really help
people get what they want so you could
do twice weekly office hours for 30
minutes each every Monday and Thursday
you're doing office and just just who is
that audience you've already grown and
how do you bring them in to get more of
their questions coming your way create
more long-form content off of these
questions just go be the most helpful
person in your world reach out to your
local Chamber of Commerce if that's the
thing in your area how can you help
their business owners you want to be the
solution provider the the ultimate key
and the part that hasn't changed is your
number one job is to improve their
business that's your fiduciary duty is
to improve their business and and
sometimes that's by doing the work and
sometimes that's by telling them what to
do sometimes you get paid for that and
sometimes you don't get paid for that so
that has not changed keep doing that
where people physically are what they're
doing with their time and their dominant
emotions have changed so meet them there
and take them where they want to be so
not that much has changed but lots of
helpful information is always gonna put
you as the trusted adviser and so I've
got Victor in here the number one way to
generate income while starting up what
you hope becomes a steady online
business growing slow like me like I
have to teach it's helping people solve
problems okay so two questions right now
um or so so when do you or we or I make
money when I help somebody or when I
don't help somebody
it's definitely when I help somebody
right okay so I make more money when I
help somebody and today right now are
there more people who need help in the
world or are there less people who need
help in the world more people so there's
more opportunity to help more people
today than there was before and people's
attention is although they have a
dominant emotion that can be paralyzing
although their attention is focused
online it's on their phones it's on
their laptops it's it's in content
they're they're going through content so
I would
the content-based business helping
people solve their problems achieve
their goals overcome their challenges in
any area I could so like literally I
wouldn't and don't and haven't changed
the game or changed the strategy at all
may be the exact choice on what piece of
content I'm making might be adapted or
adjusted due to our unique times but
ultimately the game plan is the exact
same and we got Matthew aughh born in
here rag the nuts off is his channel
you'll see him in the chat comments this
is the last one before I get over to you
on YouTube so he's all-in on creating a
Content site so he's taking this idea of
lots of content lots of reviews
essentially connect people with what
they're looking for and the primary
focus on being helpful and valuable to
real humans so he's asking what does my
current content creation team for the
affiliate site look like what have I
been impressed with would have been been
disappointed with and do I have any tips
so that's all kind of mashed up into one
question and I want to say right now at
the end of the month we're at the end of
March the affiliate site has done over
two thousand dollars in actual revenue
to me we've got my forty thousand or
more dollars in actual physical product
sales this month so it's been a great
month again I don't know if this has to
do with so many people at home ordering
online not shopping at stores it could
be an anomaly but we are absolutely on
pace to probably over shoot our three
thousand dollars per month in a year
target that we had set out with two
grand this month so current content
process so number one is it starts with
ideas and brainstorms I'm thinking what
are people looking for what are people
searching for today right now if you're
doing keyword research right now the
there's obviously a shift in user
behavior going on right now Google
Trends is actually going to be the kind
of leading indicator it's going to be
the first place that you're gonna see
the data changes because like a Google
Keyword research tool is always
aggregating the last 12 months and it
does an average of the last 12 months so
if we see a massive hundred percent
month-over-month
like you divide that out by 12 it might
be like an 8% increase and it might take
two or three months for that to get a
reading but on Google Trends you will
see that spike go to the moon so we
think what are people looking for today
right now we come up with a topic idea
we do keyword research around that and
then two things happens it kind of
splits at that point number one we pass
it off to our researcher who is an
industry expert they actually they
they're full-time in this industry they
love this industry they're they're
trained at universities around this
industry so they are absolute experts
and they're choosing the actual products
number two is it goes and turns into an
outline for a post obviously with those
individual products in there but I have
a video called the how to write SEO
content fast so we've got another person
kind of starting that structure and then
when we get the products recommended we
plug them in it gets written out and it
gets kind of from there it goes to a
layout team we use a WP publish Pro it's
flat fee for one website it's $97 per
month or it's a flat monthly fee
unlimited publishing for us so we send
them kind of a neatly organized document
and they get it all laid out and make it
all neat and tidy on our site for us and
that's just so we can kind of like
minimize the number of things that we're
taking on on our own so what do I be
impressed with so far problogger job
board is where if you just Google at
problogger job board that's where I
found the best quality writers we're
spending about five I think three cents
to six cents per word is what we're
spending obviously there's more people
willing to work for five six seven cents
a word than there is for three cents a
word but that's what we're shooting for
so finding actual experts on there who
are great writers and have that overlap
expert that has really really helped us
out what have I been disappointed with
is you know the full service content
companies that that say and claim they
can do everything and they can't we
found just so much better finding actual
individual people who are experts but
then you get to a point where you start
managing different people he mentions
later that he's like he's got the
stomach to go to five full-time content
creators the one thing I would I would
recommend you consider adding on is some
sort of a backlinking strategy whether
you have a team that you're getting to
do the backlinks for you in house or
whether you
with someone like reach creator calm
Steven Brownlee he's in the UK if you
want to reach out to him let him know
miles sent you I don't get a kickback
it's just he takes good care of my
people that's who I've bought backlinks
from he does incredibly so buying
backlinks technically means it's not
exactly white hat because I'm buying
them but they create a piece of link
magnet content that I publish on my site
they do all of the outreach they use the
process that is 100 percent squeaky
clean a legitimate process and they get
really good links and it really moves
the needle so I don't think I would
scale up to five writers I think I would
do two or three writers and then I would
figure out the backlinking game in there
as well and that's what I would do and

Instagram is like the worst platform in
the world for actual marketing of like
things and affiliate stuff if you're
paying and you're an amazing copywriter
it can work but Instagram is the the
king or queen of vanity metrics it's
it's easy to get subscribers engagements
disappearing and no one actually clicks
on links and goes places so what do you
you you sorted YouTube channel you start
a blog or you start a podcast and then
you become the most helpful person in
that world you grow an email list we're
following the ATM strategy the top video
on my the main video my on my youtube
channel at the very top will show you
this the process but essentially you
grow an audience of people and then you
build an email list and then you offer
them something to buy so if you want to
try to keep moving forward but you've
got trying to opt in try to get them
onto an email list and then promote
products on the email list but just as
general rule of thumb I think Instagram
is complete rubbish when it comes to
marketing online for the average
individual unless you are a personal
brand going towards that celebrity
Authority route it can kind of help but
I would never put time into Instagram
before YouTube channel podcast in a blog
ever ever ever because you post on
Instagram it disappears this channel is
still growing today I've had 6.8 million
views on this channel and most of my
videos were done three years ago and
those videos are still bringing in new
visitors every single day to my
ecosystem they're growing my list every
single day even if I'm goofing off in
the garden or traveling or whatever I do
Popo bootable Galactic oh the Galactic
octopus what is up what is the best
software I recommend to do a one-click
upsell without entering the credit card
again so on my website if you go to

they really don't know how to monetize
it and they really have no actual

social media marketing are you actually
looking for right so to me social media
marketing is always the absolute lowest
priority it's the bottom of the barrel
it's the last thing you want to focus on
it's the main thing to ignore for most
people for the first two years plus okay
so in the miles Becker brand this
channel that has 127 thousand
subscribers this brand that's bringing
in a thousand dollars a day on average I
didn't do any social media marketing for
three years zero I did nothing but
youtube as far as content creation
it was YouTube for one year straight why
because I wanted to become a master at
this process of how does it YouTube
there's so many subtle nuances in every
single platform and why I think social
media is absolute bottom of the barrel
Pinterest is the only one poking up out
of the barrel that's worthy of anytime
is because you post and it DISA
piers that you post again and it
disappears and if you stop posting you
stop earning you stop getting attention
now paid advertising on social media I
do it all the time and I'm reinvesting
profits that came from the organic
content strategy so if you have a blog
that's going you're publishing multiple
great posts per week your blog if you
have a YouTube channel that's growing
your posting multiple great YouTube
videos and then you're getting your
youtube video on your blog your blog on
your YouTube and all that's getting on
your podcast and you're getting all of
that done and you still have free time
sure six minutes a day of social media
marketing is fine but what happens is
it's an absolute trap for most people
and they think they're doing work but
it's not actually moving their business
forward they're chasing vanity metrics
so that's that's the kind of dangerous
area there Louis Pretorius you recently
created your own parody religion based
on the philosophies of rock music aside
from a membership site and podcast which
channels do you think would be best to
promote a concept like that so I mean
becoming a guess of JP Spears right like
I would just go look at him so who is
creating the who has built a business
around parody in a way that you are
interested in so there's like the spinal
tap movies so obviously there's movies
there's video content is what we can
gather from there
JP Sears what does he do there's
comedians who do like ridiculous Trump
impressions and stuff so like go study
what's working for people and find the
medium where you're able to communicate
the most and go all in on that medium
and if it's YouTube you can build this
massive YouTube channel and then
advertising can do a pretty cool thing
from there and then you can also sell
merchandise you can come up with your
own branded hashtags your own branded
ideas and you could put the merch self
which I should do I have t-shirts made
that I haven't put on and they'll sit
right below your videos and people can
click and buy but it's just just go grow
the audience where do you want to grow
the audience what medium are you most
comfortable in once you see the audience
growing at that point it's time to start
thinking about like how to monetize it
but advertising is generally speaking in
the world of comedy and the world of
spoofs and those sort of things ads are
often the the number one go-to oh my my
disabled veteran noise individual you
have been an absolute champion in the
videos I've seen this a few times from a
few P
at some point you're gonna disappear and
you're gonna go off and create and I
wish you the best of luck but um I'm
excited to see you taking action my man

advertising if so what platform lots of
paid advertising on Facebook that's
where my paid advertising budgets go I
would say 90 plus percent we do a bit on
YouTube advertising and we do a bit on
Google advertising and I want to rule I
want to increase those and I want to
increase the amount to tabouleh but
what's going on right now is I'm getting
lower cost per thousand cost review cost
per click on cost per lead on Facebook
so it just it still is it's the best for
us for my niche it's not for every
single niche by any means it's very
niche dependent if you will and then
I've tried Pinterest several times but I
just haven't been able to get it to
convert anywhere near what what Facebook
does so what I do my approach to paid
advertising is I go do a little bit
advertising on all of them I separate
out my funnels I'll test you know a
thousand dollars in five different
platforms Google YouTube Facebook
Pinterest etc for platforms and then I
see which one brings me a better ROI
right which one brings me a better
customer and which one brings me a
better lead and I let the data say okay
my advertising budget deserves to be
here and for me in my niche with my
content with my copy with my stuff it's
definitely Facebook ads do my live
stream to Facebook and YouTube at the
same time no I have before I usually
just set up my phone right next to it
and I do both but I might actually do
like a Facebook livestream separate
later today and I just didn't I just I
don't like feeding Zuckerberg was beast
too much I honor that that YouTube is
where I kind of came up through the
ranks and I like to stay folk
on you guys and versus having two
platforms that are going and I just I
don't trust Facebook much at all I don't
really post there much at all

to make money online ASAP this is from
Nathan I understand the importance of
creating content that helps people but
that's a it's a long-term process you
were temporarily laid off your job so
honestly should you start freelancing so
you kind of you kind of went there
Nathan the absolute fastest way to make
money online is services it's physically
doing things for other people okay so
other people who know they need their
blog to grow they know they need to get
more traffic from Google they're just
not taking time to write the blog post
because they own a business and they're
really busy etc etc so selling service
is is the fast way it's more difficult
now because the the game was relatively
easy when you could start a meetup group
and meetup.com would actually attract
people to your group for you you
probably could still use that and then
just do like live zoom webinars or
freeconferencecall.com would be a way to
get
no time limit because zooms got like a
40 minute time limit free conference
call has a video conferencing software
that you could use and and you just
gotta build an audience of people who
know you like you and trust you and
realize that you can help them and you
do so by creating content for them with
that said like that there's I know of no
way to quickly if you don't have amazing

buying video testimonials from
professional testimonial makers people
on upwork make fake testimonial after
fake testimonial they put that on their
three thousand dollar course and they
sound all fancy and they got accent
smite and they're like oh I'm so good at
this might look at how good I am watch
all my testimonials and then the
testimonials are just fake and like he
so he literally reverse engineers and
dice X how shady the world of I will
sell you how to get rich fast the truth
is you can get rich online absolutely
you can build an amazing lifestyle
it just takes years like there's so so
what you can do is you can start
immediately today on my most recent
project I've got it up to two thousand
dollars per month and income it's taking
me 11 months of absolute extreme amounts
of hours I'm talking like 50 to 60 hour
weeks every week for 11 months and I've
been making money online since 2003 I
know how this works I've done this
multiple times over this was not my
first nor was it my second rodeo and it
still took me about it it's gonna take
me about a year to get to the three
thousand dollars per month income which
I think a lot of people can kind of
you're getting to that livable wage area
even though you still gotta pay taxes on
it they're still costs associated with
it etc etc so um so just start keep
going but man be just on it how can you
help how can you serve like can you
clean people like I don't know it's and
we live in a weird time of the hustles
the you know go clean your neighbor's
window
hustles the go cleaner neighbors rain
gutters hustles that are relatively easy
things that do are a little more
difficult because social distancing and
whatnot so it's kind of challenging but
that's it so Nicole how Berlet says got
you on the retargeting during the launch
you get the concept of how it's gonna
help any ideas where you can educate
yourself on a step by step on how to
execute this correctly so on my youtube

conversions video because what you do is
you put your pixel on every step of the
process right so your pixels on your
sales page your pixels on your checkout
page your pixels on your product
delivery page and then you go into
Facebook and you set up a custom
audience for each of those so if they
land on the sales page they get into
that audience then if they go to the
checkout page they're in that audience
and then if they go actually purchase
and get to the Thank You page they're in
that third audience so you have all
three of these audience one person could
be in all three and then you just set up
your ad sets to include and exclude the
different audiences based on what you
want so you would include people who
reach the checkout you would exclude
people who reach the thank-you page and
right there that's your audience that
that's what you do and Facebook there is
your audience and sometimes like if
you're using active campaign you can
actually build this sort of thing out
based off your email list as well
because active campaign has a tracking
pixel that you can put on the bottom and
you can kind of run automations if they
reach the checkout page and they don't
reach the thank-you page within one hour
trigger this email in two hours and
that's kind of a carp abandonment
sequence Dave Wooding and integrate Pro
set up all of my advanced automations he
doesn't really do anything in the
Facebook pixel world but those are kind
of the two sides of it from there
you're referring to belt so what do I
like best and least about this method it
works it moves value forward it it helps
me follow through on my commitment and
my philosophy that if I give enough
value to other people they're gonna line
up to buy my stuff which has absolutely
transformed I'm gonna usually cost me 20
to 30 dollars to sell a specific product
sometimes it's 50 dollars I'm selling
for like $5 each
it has dropped my cost per conversion
down to an obscene level and I'm just
pouring all that money back into the
belt method the thing that the
challenging thing with the belt is its
complex it's it took myself and my ad
manager who I taught personally from
from the ground up and Facebook Ads
stuff so he he'd already been running my
Facebook Ads it took us like almost a
month and a half maybe even two months
to really get through all the video to
really understand all the pieces then to
build it out and then to kind of start
to because you build it out and it's
okay you just kind of like stick it up
and then it's like okay it's like if you
build a race car you put the engine in
you start the engine for the first time
it ain't running smooth right you still
got a dyno it you still got a tune it
there's there's all tuning is what I
guess I would call it so we had to tune
it then but yeah it took it took like
six weeks to really build and launch but
I mean it's incredibly worth it's been
amazing

got a 20 acre parcel here one of my
goals in life is to protect forest lands
I'd like to protect native forest lands
but they're too expensive so I want to
follow and buy land from timber
companies and I want to put them in
wildlife trusts and essentially lock
them up forever so no one can ever steal
them or timber cut the timber today I
just want it to be like just oh I want
to help create more old-growth forests
so I got 20 acres of timber we got like
a half acre that's gonna go to the
