got laid off during the 2008 recession

that I was able to come out of it so

answering some questions and also

about that let's see I have more than

six kind of streams of businesses and

got confused which one to choose and

following or seven seven seven principle

hope it might work yes so the seven

seven seven principle is actually let me

draw it out for you really quick let's

see if I can go to let's see so the

seven seven seven exercise let me get in

here seven no there we go seven seven

seven so that's seven problems this is

to help you discover a business idea

seven problems seven fears and seven

pains if you will or inconveniences that

you might have and you write them down

seven seven seven and what that does is

it allows you to discover okay here are

some seeds for potential ideas and

avenues that I can get to in my business

it's no way shape or form meant to have

you go oh there's my business in one of

these 21 things why seven just because

sevens a lucky number 777 sort of like a

jackpot anyway there's no real reason

why it needs to be 777 it's just sort of

a guideline a framework for you you pick

the ones that are most interesting you

get rid of the ones that may just seem

undoable

and then you can work with the ones that

you have to then dive into the next part

of the course or the book will it fly

which is the market map exercise so let

me get back in here and share with you a

little bit about what the market map

exercise is because that's a very

helpful exercise that I teach and this

is your market map so your market map is

really important when you dive into a

market maybe you pick an idea and you're

like okay where might there be some

problems what might what might my

position be in that particular space

okay so this is the three P's we need

the three P's so we need places

people and products so we need to find

all the places so this means the

websites the forums the conferences

online offline where people go who are

in that space next the people these are

the trusted leaders in this space

already the authorities the people who

people in that space already trust you

can look at the top social media

accounts the people who are doing well

on YouTube the people who are showing up

online like those are the people you

want to know about and then the products

these are what people are paying for I

don't know why edits yes that's what

people are paying for

so products services offerings what ads

are being spent in that space and I

think that can be getting called really

early in the morning here my apologies

about that team Flynn but then once you

have this layout even just doing this

exercise alone you're able to see oh

look at here there's a problem or

there's a whole there are a lot of

people talking about it this way but not

so much this way and of course whenever

you're trying to land a plane you want

to know the lay of the land and it

allows you to find the runway that you

could sort of come down and sort of

plant your flag on so hopefully that

makes sense what's up y'all great see

here we got almost a hundred people in

the room which is fantastic am I using

vmix ECAM so to answer question Michael

I am using ECAM right now which I really

love in addition to this wonderful tool

right here called the stream deck I

can't lift it up because of cords but

you could see this here it's a bunch of

buttons that I could press so I can go

from this screen to that screen to this

screen all in just like a second which

is really cool using this and it there's

plug-ins for this stream deck which is

what it's called with ECAM live which is

which is really cool alright let's go to

some of these questions here that people

are asking so let's see Martin says good

on the book and your writing starting a

new book is something that's come across

my mind during these times for sure and

I think a lot of people are gonna do the

same thing

alright REE mode media says I'm using

this time to dive into my channel and

make it even better than a side

household there you go that's what I'm

talking about I really love that idea so

big applause for you I just got to cut

it off really quick scrap happy in the

house welcome can you talk about tips

for promoting the content you make and

not just always making more yes this is

really really great so there's many

different ways to do this and I love

this positioning because you're able to

take advantage of the hard work that

you've done prior and use marketing use

promotion to sort of get some better

numbers to reintroduce those older

pieces of content to people and I think

there's many different ways to do that

so you could repurpose old stuff number

one you could take old stuff and bring

it back in a different way so you could

for example number one so there's a

whole spectrum and a scale here right

you could repurpose your old content by

bringing it back in a new form maybe it

then turns into a video maybe it then

turns into a podcast you could take that

old piece of content let's let's just

talk about blogs for a moment maybe you

have five old pieces of blog content

that's sort of been lost in the archives

bring them back in a roundup post hey

five articles from the past that you

should be reading if you haven't already

and you could sort of market it that way

and promote that way that way that way

you are still creating a new blog post

in a sense but you're actually just

linking to older blog posts from it

summarizing it and your new subscribers

even even people who need to be reminded

of those things will be very thankful

for that

you could also republish your old stuff

as new so this is a very very good

tactic today especially in the search

engine optimization world here's what I

would do actually let me write this out

for you so let's go into the steps here

step one go into your analytics you want

to

find articles or videos whatever that

are close but not yet what I mean by

that our articles that are likely

ranking on the second four six a tenth

page of Google and obviously we want to

surface them up to the to the top if

possible so that so that's what we're

looking for what articles are doing not

as good as they could and that's kind of

what we want to look for okay so that's

step one step two would be to update

those articles and that means new info I

saw some questions about what I'm using

here I'm using an iPad pro with the

Apple pencil pen pencil whatever it's

called and I'm doing this on a can live

so when you plug in your iPad you can

actually with if it's updated to the

newest iOS you can actually use it as a

separate screen and ECAM will see it as

a separate screen and I can sort of move

back and forth between it so new info so

update it with you know the latest and

greatest make sure all the links are

working make sure you're linking to

newer articles that perhaps you weren't

around when you first published that

thing and then step three republish the

same article same URL same URL very

important and then read eight it is

updated now one thing that you can do is

make sure that you also if you wanted to

just be upfront with people you can add

a little bit of text up front that says

hey this post has been updated or this

article has been updated and we do this

because we want to make sure you always

have the latest and greatest stuff and

that's really reassuring when people see

an article and they're like oh this is

the latest stuff fantastic okay great

let's do that so hopefully that answers

your question

course gluten free bread school Kristi

you have a huge opportunity in front of

you people are looking for bread these

days because I went to Target the other

day and there was zero bread there was

no bread and actually April and I

discussed how can we make some bread so

I think that would be that would be

great Gary says no I don't mean your

audio Pat my question is I'm setting up

my road test for pro and the audio keeps

dropping every ten to fifteen seconds

when I'm doing test recording any ideas

hmm it could be power I don't know what

what microphone you're using so I think

that maybe there might need to be some

power it could be cutting out because

it's not a lot of power so if depending

on what microphone you have Gary go into

your settings with the microphone and

make sure there's phantom power the V 48

or 48 volts is is on that could

potentially help you there I'm just

guessing that that might be the problem

I'm not sure also making sure your

computer is up-to-date with the latest

software can be really helpful too that

way there's just not skipping for

example are you actually getting the

here's what I would do hit record on

your road caster Pro to see if it's

actually the road caster Pro that's

skipping or if it's the audio that's

coming through to your computer then you

sort of honing on the problem that makes

sense trying today to register for two

weeks adobe cloud without having an

account before that somehow that doesn't

work for people without a prior account

so I can't just can't find it that I

think makes sense

last time we chatted there were some

really good suggestions I think it was

just Samson who came on to talk a little

bit about how we could save some money

with Adobe Creative Cloud services I

think you have to have an account first

and then attempt to cancel to then get

access to that deal question says I'm

putting together courses in a membership

community would you suggest putting the

courses inside the membership or sell

the courses and offer the membership

community separately this is a great

question and this is actually something

that I cannot answer in this time period

because we have a lot more questions

that I want to get to you however if

that is definitely a question that you

structure membership it could be go

could be in addition to the courses as

more of a back-end offer so it depends

if it's a front-end offer back and offer

and it really positions all that stuff

it all yourself when you started Wow

would you mind sharing what your

workflow was when it was just you yes

so my workflow when doing when when

editing and just Samson can you remind

me if you were talking about podcasting

or video with the podcast my workflow is

record or do the interview then open up

GarageBand which is what I used before

and then record him and actually open up

a master file that I had that had my

intro music in there already so that way

the workflow was a little bit easier and

then I would hit record right on the

tail end of the of the the voiceover

intro and then record my intro leading

into the interview or leading into the

meat of the content and then I would

drag and drop an interview in there and

then I would add in an outro then I

would export as an mp3 file then upload

or actually then I would send the file

through auphonic

au pH oh and I see which allows me to

normalize the levels then I would upload

it to the hosts like buzzsprout for

example and then of course it gets

blasted out everywhere after that am i

using a Wacom no I'm using the iPad pro

to draw somehow I still can't believe

that it's live chatting with Pat magic

of the Internet

hey you know I'm trying to find some

good in this and and and I did see some

pretty fun comments history on Twitter

is like hey you know I know the world is

crazy right now but the good that's come

out of this is I've been seeing a lot

more people come come live and and and

and help out and provide some resources

that I really needed so that's that's

sort of what I'm trying to do using

meditation as a practice for your family

and you to be grounded not my family

they you know we don't we have quiet

time we have a reading time every day

for an hour

and that's fun but and and that's sort

of meditative in a way but obviously

you're reading a story or reading a book

for me I do meditate daily and I do this

for about seven minutes each day and

it's usually before this livestream but

own experiences with it I mean and

nobody could rip you off if you do that

to this is why I have been so just

forthcoming and transparent with

everything especially related to not

just business but like what's going on

in my life and my family a little bit

because that all is to my advantage that

makes me different than everybody else

and I think showing up and you being you

and you putting your personality into it

is gonna be the big differentiator and

people will want to learn from you and

would likely prefer to learn from you

than me in some cases and vice versa so

I think there's there's plenty room this

is a world that I feel has

a lot of room for abundance that I come

from a mindset of abundance and

hopefully you do too and that's that's

my answer like and likely you're gonna

have your own strategies your own

framework I would I would I would truly

encourage all of you actually to create

a framework to help you organize and

help your audience organize just how you

teach what you teach it's just going to

be something that you own essentially as

a framework and we all have a capability

to do that let's see what if my

audiences greatest need

I suck at how do I serve them in this

area number one compassion and empathy

so compassion and empathy and that will

help you understand a little bit more

about what they need help with and let

me just give you a quick story so this

website here that I'm about to show you

let's go to so I started this website

food trekker calm which recently was

sold by the way I don't know if you know

that but it was sold that was pretty

awesome very very thankful for that

sorry I just like playing those it was

sold but anyway I started this website

in 2014 to help people start food trucks

I don't own a food truck I was probably

the last person in the world to know

anything about starting a food truck

before starting this resource so how did

it get to the point where it was getting

traffic making money serving people and

then later become sold well I didn't

take the position as the expert I took

the position as somebody who is so

curious about this industry that I

wanted to find all the answers for

myself and for everybody else and so I

took the position of expert curator do

you all kind of get that that's a really

really great word that we could all sort

of understand where if you don't feel

like you're an expert with something

well you can be the expert curator

alright the expert curator when you're

the expert curator you're doing all the

hard work for people now

how do you know what to curate well ask

questions have conversations and how did

I do that with the food-truck website I

had conversations with food truck owners

asking them exactly what they might need

help with how I can help them and all

that sort of stuff so that's the

position I would take if if that seems

to be the case tips for managing a

membership website managing the

expectations that people have when they

get in developing systems for you and

your team to understand all the

different components of it and how you

could still show up determining

wayfinding through the membership

website to make sure people can find

their way through and get exactly what

they need if the community is a big

aspect of it you want you definitely

want to make sure there is conversation

happening and conversation being stirred

up and perhaps that might mean having

somebody come on to be an admin for

example so just some tips for you to

help out hopefully by the way how y'all

feeling everybody happy everybody good

I know it's crazy times right now but

well for many industries but not all

and it did not work so that's that

trying to be a little bit more mature in

this situation so people could trust me

more I'm just kidding if this is like my

lab coat in this space right with the

stethoscope here in California on

lockdown that's right we are and we're

having some fun we're trying to make the

best of it what does this make possible

is the question I would ask myself and I

am asking myself and that's why I was

like hey what does what does this make

possible if I'm going to be home every

single day

I want to make sure I wake up in the

morning and serve others first so let me

wake up and come live here on YouTube

every single day so blog traffic fast

either Google or Pinterest yeah either

one of those will work you just got to

put in V you just got to put in the work

and determine sort of the foundational

items and there's a lot of people you

could learn from in regards to that the

the lady right so I want to learn how to

build a membership site for readers that

combined with an app so there are some

likely membership site programs that you

could use that do you have apps you

could check out mighty networks for

example there's a lot more that are

coming into play now community dot in I

think is another one that's more

text-based so just keep that in mind but

mighty networks and there's some other

other programs that are coming out check

out circle dot s o circle dot s o Lada

says how can you market your valuable

content extremely fast if you have time

pressure and can't afford waiting two

years or so talking about growth hacking

viral marketing and so on ideas

purposefully trying to go viral is very

difficult there are people who can do it

if you've heard of yes theory on YouTube

I mean they they they create stories

they come up with ideas that are very

viral and it's really smart what they do

and it's no reason it's no surprise why

they've been able to sort of grow so

fast so that's a yes

theory here on YouTube I think a lot of

virality comes as a result of is this is

just noteworthy enough to share right

nobody's gonna share anything unless

it's worth sharing so coming up with

ideas for you and your brand is really

important and and and really coming at

it from an angle of what is different

what is what is gonna get people to talk

and it's gonna be a challenge but at but

perhaps this sort of time pressure is

gonna force you to get to understand

okay what would be the most extremely

helpful thing that could do right now

and the biggest bowl is actions I could

take to sort of get to that level right

now

so that's kind of the positioning I

would take and that combined with well

what is actually gonna help others can

turn into great business

website but not been able to gain any

success from almost seven months and now

demotivated any tips well what have you

been trying would be my question where

might you where might you re shift and

pivot your focus we know what your goals

are hold on one second

so I'm checking something I would try to

determine what new routes you might be

able to take because if you've been

doing the same thing for seven months

and it's not working well we have to

stop doing that we have to do other

things

pivoting doesn't mean changing your

goals pivoting means changing the

direction that you are getting to your

goals too so that's what I would

recommend doing just exploring new ways

to take bolder actions to try and get

that traffic or to try and convert

people into whatever it is that you're

trying to sell for example Michael says

have groups that are a part of a

business support community think

mastermind networking hybrid moved

online via zoo many ideas for making

these virtual meetings or for marketing

these virtual meetings of folks outside

our region you could potentially record

them and share bits and pieces snippets

of them and repurpose them on your

social media for example or other places

online that you might have access to

maybe an email lists for example so

that's potentially what you could do I

think that doing an application or an

invite-only sort of situation could be

really great so sort of individual reach

out so I think a lot of people are

craving and wanting to connect with

other people in a very similar kind of

way so I think doing that would be

really interesting just a couple ideas

for you Chad says awesome that you are
