hey what's up miles here miles Becca
calm and I got my beautiful wife here
say hello so we are on a road trip right
now we're headed back from the family
just finished up Christmas and honestly
right now my attention is on the fact
that we're about to end a decade right
this is not just ending a year
it's totally literally ending an entire
decade so it's really important if you
want to make this next year and decade
your best ever to take a moment and
reflect on the past decade and where you
were and where you've been so what we're
gonna do here is we're gonna do a quick
bit of reflection and then we're gonna
get into question and answer because
we've got time on our hands
so again it's the end of 2019
ten years ago Melanie and I were living
in a kind of a shared house with a
shared kitchen we had just moved out
from my parents house which we had to
move into because we went flat broke I
was working a customer service job
Melanie was doing inside sales for a
company we would wake up for four to
three hours before we went to work and
we worked on the website the website
that now today has had over 35 million
visitors at that point in time that
website was maybe five six months old
and at that point in time we were
committed without fully knowing what it
could do and in fact I would have to say
our goals for that website were compared
to what we're actually experiencing now
ten years in we're tiny and the actual
revenue we're seeing now the numbers
everything the lifestyle potential we
had no vision for this at all ten years
now one glance ten years can sound like
a very long time but in another sense
it's gone by in a flash we've been in 20
30 different countries we've been able
to work from beaches around the world
and we've created something absolutely
amazing so take a little time before the
end of the year and reflect where were
you in two
2009 how is your life transformed what
have you done that's accelerated your
growth and what are you going to
implement in next year because I can
tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt in
our business and our lives what's made
all the difference was focusing our
to our audience constantly asking
ourselves that question
oh please jump on it baby yeah so that
it's really I think it's really powerful
and so we're entering the 2020s here
very soon
and there's the idea that as human
beings we often overestimate what we can
accomplish in a year and underestimate
what we can accomplish in five so
thinking about entering into a new
decade now is a powerful opportunity to
get cleared about what is it that you
truly desire to create and one little
bit we can add on there is why are you
really here as a human being what unique
talents and skills and experiences have
you had that have uniquely qualified you
to bring value to the lives of others
what talents and resources do you have
that you're able to synthesize in your
own unique way that could solve needs
other human beings have in the world
when you find this intersection that's
really where the magic of minds of
unlocking true abundance through
entrepreneurship 100% agree with that
and you have the technologies to reach
the masses at scale right we're on my
cell phone it's a $200 on a road trip
we literally have Star Trek level magic
available to each and every one of us
and what are you going to do with it I
think it's important in this reflection
period what do you want your lifestyle
to be like in 10 years from now what do
you want your days to be like what do
you want a Thursday to look like what
time do you want to wake up who's around
you spend time with your kids do you
walk them to school do not have kids do
you want to be on a beach in Bali
working from the beaches of the world
get really specific not just about the
business
that you want but the lifestyle right
because the business is a mechanism to
help you build the lifestyle that you
want and the truth is as you are able to
help more and more people improve their
lives get more joy out of their lives
solve their problems etc ah that's how
you really unlock the abundance to take
your life anywhere you can have anything
you want in this world if you help
enough people get what they want and it
takes takes putting time for that it
takes banging your head against the wall
sometimes like why is my WordPress site
not doing what I wanted to do there's a
lot of little things that go into it but
you can overcome them all you've got
access to the YouTube you've got access
to to blogs and to find the answers that
you possibly need in order to get things
moving forward and I'm gonna keep making
videos for you so at this point
Melanie's got her phone in her lap she
is going to open up into the chat of the
live so if you're with us live welcome
thank you for being your life we are
going to do question and answer at this
point in the road trip because we're
still a few hours away from home and I
figured why not jump on here and give
some value so if you have a question
type it into the chat and get that in
and Melanie will bring it to our
attention and we'll both get to have a
little answers here and there
I hope you had a wonderful holiday
Gray's though I'm gonna read a question
and then try to figure this out nice
white fog says hey my option he just has
51 percent conversion but I have no
sales and I have over two hundred ninety
three options
totally so 293 opt-ins no sales I'm
assuming you have a one-time offer
showing after the octave so just by the
numbers the 51% is a very good
conversion rate for your opt-in page but
if the offer this displayed immediately
after isn't converting it could be a
couple of reasons
the number one thing I'm looking at is
the actual copy on that OTO page right
if the copy is no good it just ain't
gonna sell but sometimes the pre-frame
sometimes the fake you're giving away
negates the need for the product that
you're trying to sell an example of this
would be if I sold you a facebook course
or if I gave you a free Facebook course
and then I tried to sell you a Facebook
course of course you're not gonna want
to buy at Facebook course if you just
got one for free so look at the offers
separately and ask yourself does the
one-time offer that you're presenting
after the opt-in is it the logical next
step so what I mean by this is let's say
I put together a facebook advertising
checklist and that's my method is get an
11 step checklist to running great
Facebook ads then the next offer on the
oto I could make a how to write a
Facebook ad that converts training and
so my sale would because I know they're
interested in getting their Facebook Ads
to work because they're opting in for
the checklist so what's that next thing
they might want well maybe it's just how
to make a great Facebook ad and then I
know one-click upsell of how to run
campaigns the right way and what I'm
trying to show you here is how the
opt-in self so add 300 clicks or so you
have very small data if you got a sale
on the next one you would have a point
three percent conversion rate if you got
two sales in a row tomorrow which is
totally hot
sometimes you would have about a point
six percent conversion rate and I think
for most people a half percent to one
percent is normal and if you're totally
new if this is your first one welcome to
the world of trial and error it can take
on several iterations to really find
that one that that ultimately works keep
with it
great work be sure you're emailing lots
of value to your list be sure you're
you're really truly committed to helping
them achieve their goals because if
everything you do comes off as you try
it from them they're not gonna be
interested in you but when they feel
that you understand them that you really
are there to help them they're gonna
open your emails they're gonna listen
they're gonna pay attention to you and
they're gonna want more of what you when
you have an offer okay did you figure
out your fun text I did that was known
as married I just have to like close
everything in we're gonna I have your
question so typing questions you have
for the you know the next question is
from Eric Morris what would you
recommend as startup capital for
affiliate marketing and where do you see
the industry going over the next year
perfect so startup capital I would say
about a hundred bucks is what you need
maybe over the first year you're gonna
get to about try five hundred dollars
total investment over the course of an
entire year we started our entire
business has brought in millions for
ninety five dollars and forty cents
that's the cost of a domain and web
hosting and from there we used three
themes you can use the WordPress 2017 or
2018 theme it's a great free theme and
you need to drive traffic and grow your
audience but that's what the trick is
how do you do that lots of great content
keyword research we have the right
search intent and you're playing it out
with good SEO if you don't know how to
do all of those things perfectly right
now great star
to post one make it as good as you can
and get better and better and iterate
learn as you go
Melanie didn't really know keyword
research and SEO when she first started
I didn't really know keyword research
and SEO when I first started we just
started and now she's a badass at it
right so as far as where affiliate
marketing is going to go in the next 10
years I think this is a great question
and from my perspective the affiliate
marketers were going to be are going to
thrive or are going to be a fun day are
going to be very brand focused so
building a brand around to your
affiliate marketing business I think is
so essential because it's really people
are more tech savvy than ever and so
really like really connecting with
people through your brand to offer them
value and then that's what's going to
make them want to buy the things that
you recommend you know I think that the
days of like skeezy affiliate marketing
science being hyper profitable are
actually already long
and like miles has is affiliate
marketing case study here on YouTube the
use the products the video is about and
it's like I can almost oh he gets a test
right so he's not putting his face and
brand and personality behind it if he
was doing that it would be doing way
better
that's my intuition is the truth and the
truth of it and so it's not so like if
you want to do Philly marketing in 2020
don't try to hide behind your website
and hide behind your computer look at
I was like you're not doing affiliate
marketing you're building a brand you're
building an audience how do you value to
that body is in the realm of your
selected image that's the name of the
game how do you become their trusted
advisor that's kind of the question so
and it can be a brand as in like a brand
so modern castle modern castle calm they
head l-vector calm is the personal brand
right is in theory
so I think affiliate marketing is going
to continue to grow as an industry but I
think the number of people who get it
right will continue to get smaller and
smaller because there's a bunch of
copycats coming out there there's a
bunch of people who can get rich quick
it's not it takes 3 5 10 years to really
establish yourself as the trusted
Authority for your audience there's
actually a big real levels you know
tremendously well yoke's affiliate
marketing but it's not this like
half-assed like little easy site that
you like tricked people into buying
through here it's not a shitty review
site right like I'm actually creating
the kind of content that helps them you
have I guarantee you you've been on a
blog before and you load it and you look
at it like this is rubbish and you click
the back button if that's the kind of
content you're putting out you're never
gonna make it and here's the thing most
my competitors who are ripping me off
that's the kind of content they're
putting out in the audience can tell so
they're just wasting their time they're
just gonna simply what are those what
are those sites that you frequent for
whatever niche your area of focus that
should have so much value and you like
the personalities behind it you
appreciate the content there's like this
dobson richness and
in there that's what you're striving to
recreate in your affiliate marketing
online business so the trends for the
next ten years is like yeah I think
there's there's more competition than
ever before which means in order to
stand out you need to be better than
ever before surely you're not ill again
you're not building this like shady
affiliate marketing site at least you
shouldn't be you should be building a
real brand bringing real value to the
world into the marketplace and to go
back to what we we're sort of talking
about a minute ago and we did a live
stream on my social media earlier and
we're talking about this so it's very
much the theme for the day and for this
time period is that what talents do you
have but you can cut to service of
others to help other people solve their
needs to help bring value to the world
into your niche into your marketplace if
you live that be your focus in 2020
truly bringing value through your
business in your niche that's what leads
to success way more than checking KPIs
and monitoring click-through age and
like okay all that stuff kind of has
simply usual but when you lead with
value and helping people the the
monetization has
taking care of it I think the backlinks
is a good example with a lot of courses
are gonna tell you like okay put out a
great his content that go build
backlinks like we've nor backlinks for
like ten years because the content was
so good that she attracted thousands of
them because she wrote from her heart
and she really did that just as much the
best she could and also remember your
first posts aren't going to be amazing
your hunt pure doesn't post isn't gonna
be amazing just like my first videos
were can't get better as you go and as
you keep showing up for your audience
they realize you're there for the long
term and they can trust you and that's
the real win you you're gonna have
competitors there's no niche that has no
competitors they just have a head start
on you so it's a race to a thousand
iterations it's a race to you know how
many how quick can you get a hundred
post was 500 posts and beyond she's got
over a thousand blog posts on her site
it's $850 per month I got 400 ish posts
on my site I get about 50,000 visits per
month there's not a direct correlation
to the number of posts and the traffic
there's not like a mathematical equation
there cuz every niche is different but
there is a correlation that the more we
pose the better we get at it the better
it's optimized the people we reach the
compounding results are there
affiliate marketing is just
recommendations like for me to recommend
things to people we know yeah for sure
it'll always be around
you use international do you pay for
international contractors work virtual
assistant absolutely our team is in the
20s of people yeah we got like
20-something people on our team and I
would say 80% of them are international
and all over eastern Russia I got a guy
in Central America
I've got teammates in Africa know we
have a committee in Africa right now
Asia for sure Philippines for sure yeah
and speed with the US as well like right
the the best person for the specific
role based on their talents their
abilities and value they bring in the
cost value ratio yeah I got a lot of
videos on that as well feel free to look
at outsourcing on my channel next up
make a video a video about YouTube ads
food or an online course that's 100%
meat and value
oh um so I've got a YouTube video ads
training inside of a membership and
content and conversion dot-com that kind
of came out and is there it's already up
it's love I'm not gonna teach that
publicly here for free on YouTube at
this point because we're still dialing
it in and I have way too many copycats
who rip me off and steal my stuff so
I've had to keep some things locked up a
little bit and so yeah it's in it's in
the membership if you're in there just
David asks what would you do today if
you were just getting started
[Music]
commit to an audience like I did I mean
so so for me the Myles Beckford brand
really kinda had its genesis in 2016 was
it a personal development conference and
I have been doing a bunch of marketing
conferences and the people on stage or
teaching like old stuff that doesn't
work like these guys are chumps dude
like they don't know what they're
talking about on stage and I felt kind
of like dissed to be honest like I
should be getting respect but like why
would anybody know who I am I haven't
done anything yet
so I committed to being the most helpful
marketer in the world which has put me
on a path of putting out over 500 videos
for free to teach datameer everything I
know for free in the world now I have
the membership because some of the
things I've been teaching for free have
gotten stolen and sold and people are
repurposing it really shady ways so I
gained some of my content but 550 videos
to teach everything I know about this
space has been my path so that's what
you need to do you need to commit to a
group of people who have a common unmet
that's an audience or an inch and then
you need to go all in on getting them
the answers that they need right you
need to go all in on solving their
problems for them because that's what we
do as digital marketers as affiliate
marketers if you think about it the busy
mom at home who wants to cook more
healthy plant-based foods and she
doesn't know how and she goes to Google
and she finds the minimalist maker or
some other brand who has done the
research for her they've found the
recipes for her they've made beautiful
blog posts with pictures and ingredients
lists for her that blogger is saving
that mom time and that's the value that
blogger has taken sell products like
this of courses they can affiliate with
products etc etc they can have an
advertisements the monetization is kind
of irrelevant the blogger minimalist
baker calm shout out love with some
recipes um she fully committed to the
audience to help first and that's it
that's what you need to do first is
commit then figure out what is your core
content strategy are you a video person
like me is doing videos easier or are
you a writer and a blogger and writing
content is actually easier figure that
out and then start it's a race to 1,000
host is a race to the thousand videos
and you have to get you'll get better
and better each step and that's it
that's right
this is a good question so Jay Carlos
fit lab says are we doing another yearly
plan into five concepts yes I'm gonna do
so the GST roadmap is there right and
like absolutely go through that I'm
gonna do it's the gold strategy tactics
roadmap it's of course at a it's like a
3 part 4 part course it's got like a
downloadable worksheet that you do and
it's got a bunch it's it's kind of like
a goal-setting process
I am gonna do a live I'm gonna do a live
on New Year's uh New Year's Day I think
in the afternoon local time I'm gonna do
a live and I've got a new system I'm
testing something in common maybe get
more banter going on the lines on when I
came into doing more lives but um so
like kind of it's there for you like you
don't need me to initiate not definitely
do it but I've got a and you're on live
like even a thumbs up we don't hear 10
thumbs up on those being
scores of people here
[Music]
shut down guys wow that's gonna walk
okay it's real the baking for thumbs up
okay how often should post on YouTube
because the beginnings go a brand when I
don't I mean I was a daily like you know
how how often can you put a great
content because Italy very consistently
right like over long periods of time so
I get daily because I wasn't I just had
to learn it I had to get comfortable
talking on camera I had to get
comfortable of the process I had to get
comfortable the titles and the uploads
and it takes there's you know there's a
lot of different theories on you know
takes 67 times of doing something to
build a neural pathway it takes 30 times
in a row to build a new habit everything
like if you do something a hundred times
over it's gonna be kind of like second
nature and that's right it I raced to a
hundred videos and I did in 100 days in
120 videos in 120 days so marketing if
you so move my dad made updates for some
of them did get feud so them still get
views them don't get feud but I'm now a
better video creator from that flurry of
activity and I found a few topics that
I've been able to go back to over and
over and over that resonate with my
audience
so yeah like daily can you not do daily
than every other day got 19 kids the
YouTube 9 you she was like unacceptable
course to teach teach
boss make videos you know Mike Wallace
references Tom make videos write blog
post what's in your DNA right like don't
don't leave so a lot of people have this
I before you teach them go study Jay
Abraham there's videos here on YouTube
Jai Ram the strategy of preeminence
those who've been at the game especially
the games of media and digital marketing
and digital content are those who do not
wait until a transaction to create a
result in the life of their audience
members ok those who are willing to help
their audience members get
transformations first win it's part of
why I was able to grow to over a hundred
thousand subscribers fill the membership
program that's generated hundreds and
hundreds of thousands of dollars I've
made five hundred plus thousand dollars
as an affiliate marketer with this brand
here because I didn't wait for people to
give me money in order to give value I
just started giving and when you give
give give and you're the most health
person and your most frequent and you're
good at what you do and they like they
find you if they show up they like you
they ask you if they have if you have
something they can buy it just moves the
business or it so start giving give up
self first remember the path audience /
trust second monetized third so what
you're saying is I got a course for
monetization will you need the audience
of the trust so that after you start so
that you can help them by breeding them
kruky annum can help them prove to them
you could be trusted right through to
them that you won't go flake out on them
right and that all happens from putting
out a year or two or three worth
abundant okay so Paul Phelps was asking
what is the best place to start on
Pinterest so miles Beckler dock on the
for slash interest - course we were
talking about this actually the other
table - the black stream and we talked a
lot about Pinterest Pinterest is very
much a different animal other social
media networks YouTube so Pinterest is a
social bookmarking site and a visual
search and so it kind of operations by
and a social network site operates
differently it's like it's not as
important as we can get followers or
even to have engagement from your
followers you want to create
that act as doorways I do a lot on
pitches and this is the course that
really helped me four five five interest
strategy so they covered not only like
what is essential as far as getting your
interest titles and descriptions what
you need it not because interests also
the keywords on pages are pretty much
differently than YouTube keyword for
Google SEO of Hebrews and then there's a
really cool strategy you'll learn in
that course about how to cite both games
are different boards totally get easier
on you and increase your reach a lot so
I got like I'd like to Queenie million
monthly reaches we've gotten over 1.5
million visits to our actual website
from Pinterest sorry I had to get on a
trucker messing with me and you think
but this the strategist toilets of
course are still totally what I'm doing
and Edinburgh through if he sounds like
she just lays it out so well like he
just just any kind of like actually it's
free like we've learned this strategy
from that course it's like exactly what
we're doing now and so we're not gonna
like ripped her course off and did you
teach a to hear how to do so and what's
I guess the even cooler part is so we we
learned it we built systems around it we
kind of like integrated it and
implemented it and then we actually hand
it off to our virtual assistants and now
they do pretty much all 80 90 plus
percent of it if you are a new course
creator
they're great if you're good at making
ads that convert it's the question is
more than their workers are good are you
a copywriting how good are you at the
handwriting how much have you studied
have you read 20 copywriting books have
you been running ads on stop and landing
pages non-stop for 5 years that's like
how do get someone to take a specific
action is all persuasion it's all
copywriting and like that's the actual
skill your courses irrelevant how good
is your marketing is the olds big
question here and there great I love
YouTube ads are fantastic it's a great
value right now but if you are good at
converting people they're gonna flop
just like Facebook ads are great if you
can write good ads and even like thank
you okay so wait Nora says if never you
see my ocean sorry white my man sorry
hey are you doing happy holidays boy
what's - I said you'll find himself yeah
where'd you go - white we're looking for
your comment okay I know it was
something oh gosh we're gonna come back
to you it's like great questions we got
throw an interim question that you see
right there and then go find white
between Facebook and Google Ads which
one is most effective and why yeah
brilliant okay so go find why in soham I
hate this answer but it's the true
answer it well it depends on test right
but so for me here's how I went about
answering that question for myself cuz
that's what I needed to do I needed to
know I was like okay I'm ready to invest
my profits into paid advertisements so I
want to invest his money in a location
that has a high likelihood of bringing
back more of the monies right I don't
want to put it in the fund of Zuckerberg
or put it in the fund of Google and let
it just disappear so what I did is I
duplicated out my funnel and I ran the I
ran ads Google and I ran ads on Facebook
and I measured the effectiveness of both
and for me for my space by ditch and
everything that I was doing Facebook
dominated the cost per lead was lower
the cost per new customer acquisition
was lower so there I had my data that
said beyond the shadow of doubt my
advertising dollars are most effectively
spent on Google now with that said I got
a buddy he actually runs my Facebook ads
the one of his other clients there at
the greeting card space Google hats is
the absolute most effective use of the
advertising budget for that company how
does he know he's tested it and he still
goes back in tests Facebook every once
while I still test Pinterest ads every
once in a while but it ultimately takes
figuring out where they are and the
users behavior is very different a
plumber who does 24 hour emergency
service is not going to do well with
Facebook Ads a plumber who does 24 hour
emergency service their user is is going
to Google the moment that their water
heater explodes and if that bad we were
sitting on top of Google and says open
24 hours a day
show up within five minutes emergency
service they're getting the phone call
right but they're not like browsing
Facebook like looking at cat and cat
pictures and baby videos and then a
plumber had pop something like if
there's there's that side of it so like
how does your product they need it so
that's the idea is it a once poured
meter he's selling a want or a need
because like when you need a plumber you
need a plumber right but like you might
just want a Snuggie nobody wants that
every searches for that but if it pops
up on Facebook is like wow we're gonna
blank it with our egg whites push it
that's right we're bashful man
okay if we have very little time should
we just do the work of making
high-quality videos that keep learn you
make more than other types then you make
them into high-quality blog post
yeah totally and and so I think the one
other kind of player slash question on
that is I'm assuming I guess assumption
that goes along with that and the
assumption is that you're faster at
making the video content that you are at
writing the blog post that was my
situation 100% man right like it just oh
I got it start a blog post I'm right out
of bonds you to get into draft mode and
I like need a copy edit it and do this
at bat and I just I wouldn't do that
stuff and it would sit for three four
days whereas a video I turn it on and I
like publish it same day so it was like
I was able to iterate faster I was able
to get one more idea out one more idea
out or ID out more quickly and that is
that is the goal is to build that system
and then from there it's like how do you
build a system around you to get it into
that blog post I did it myself for the
first dozen or so times running through
Tammy that's at the other but ultimately
I was able to replace myself in that
side of things
so are you using like a talk to text I
would recommend trying that because
sometimes the process of taking a video
and running it through the actual
[Music]
transcription it needs so much it would
almost be easier to just redo that same
idea so Google dog I believe has the
ability for you to do type to text in a
Google Doc so I've got a video here on
the channel it's um the trick to writing
SEO content fast and I show the process
to look at Google and to get your h2s so
essentially you can be kind of like you
