Hey, Miles here, milesbecker.com! In this video you're going to learn how to create
and publish blog posts that crush it on Google so you can get more impressions, more clicks,
and more traffic to your website, helping you grow your business case. Specifically,
I'm going to be talking about this through the lens of being an affiliate marketer, but
even if you're not doing affiliate marketing and you're just using content marketing and
and I have pretty much perfected at this point. And that's what I'm handing you here. And
if you're not doing affiliate marketing, it will be an eight step process cause there's
only one step specific to affiliate marketers. I'm doing a a case study building an affiliate
marketing website from scratch. So this is month five and at the end I'll talk about
the, the statistics and the numbers of that site.
But really I want to give you this process because up until now our biggest challenge
has been how do we really create and publish enough content in the right way? I'm not doing
all of the content anymore, so I've had to really get super specific with my process
that my wife and I have used to drive tens of millions of visits. Her site gets something
like 8 million visits a year. It's had like 35 million plus people on her website. So
it all comes out of this. And then how do we apply it? And that's what you're gonna
get is the whole process. So without further ado, the nine step process to creating and
publishing blog posts that rank get clicks and crush it. Number one, keyword research.
Now if you know who I am, you've seen any of my videos, you've absolutely heard me talk
about keyword research before.
I think I have five or six different keyword research videos that all rank really well
here on YouTube. The one that I think you need to watch if you're going to watch one
of them and you haven't is how to find the low difficulty, high search volume keyword
phrases. That's the process that we're using. So we're looking for long tail phrases and
it's all about identifying the right keyword phrase and then it's about understanding the
intent behind the keyword phrase. And this is where a lot of people missed the boat.
Okay? They'll go find a keyword phrase in the tool and they're like, perfect. That's
the phrase. It's got low difficulty, it's got high search volume, I'm just going to
write, and they go straight into writing and that as a huge risk. You need to take time
to analyze what is that search intent from two filters.
Number one is the human being who goes to Google and what are they thinking? Where are
they? Is that actually your perfect lead, your perfect potential customer? Get into
their mindset. Think of who is actually searching that. Kay. So there's the human search intent.
Part two of the keyword research search intent is the algorithms search intent. What does
Google think that this phrase is all about? How do you learn what that is? You go Google
the keyword phrase and it's a simple step and this actually leads us into step number
two. The once you're pretty sure you're confident based on the numbers from your keyword research
tool, you're like, I think this is my keyword phrase, go to Google. So step two is to write
out your title and description first. Now, a lot of people save this until the very end.
You've written your great blog post and then it's like, Oh man, I got to come up with a
unique title and a description and you have this, a little bit of a creative hangover.
You need to move this to the front because your title and your description are all that
displays on Google. Okay? Technically speaking, your URL displays as well, but the majority
of the content that a user will see when they have the opportunity to click on your website
versus all of your competitors' websites is the title and the description. So it needs
to be compelling. So you need to spend time writing this first. When you're full of energy
and where do you get the ideas of what's working? This is where you really start to frame what's
working. It's from that Google search, so step one you find your keyword and then you
search it to know the intent. When you're on that Google search page, this is where
you need to be looking at what titles are working, what descriptions are working, are
all of the posts a top 10 list will great if so, make a top 21 list, right?
Make it bigger and better. Lists are look at what is already working on Google and realize
that Google is showing you clearly by the first page results what Google thinks is the
absolute best topic angle hook for this product. Then how do you kind of Zig when everyone
else zags? You need to do what Google likes, but you also need to do something that's going
to stand out on that front page and this is really where you get the idea of the hook
or the angle from your topic, from your keyword and writing out a great compelling title and
description from this step is really ultimately the key part here. So, um, when you're on
the first page of Google, okay, so you've done your keyword research, you're searching
it so you can write your title, be sure you're looking for any of the featured snippets,
any of the Google also are people also ask boxes.
And also at the very bottom there's eight links there, the related searches. And you
want to copy all of this down because these are going to be useful when you're actually
crafting your content. Now I have another video that goes deeper into the how to write
SEO content fast. I'll definitely link to that video in the description below and up
above because there's a process that we'll talk about and we'll talk about briefly, but
I go really deep on it and it's, I actually go through the process with a blog post, which
I'm obviously not going to do here. So now you have your keyword, you have your title,
you have your description written out, and you've copied down all of those bits and pieces
from the homepage or from the first page of Google with the uh, also asked and the related
searches and any call out boxes they have their number three.
This is an affiliate only step. Now you do the actual product research. So you've got
to get into the process and whatever your process is, and great affiliate marketing
websites have a process. Okay, great. Affiliate marketing websites. This is their secret sauce.
I think a beautiful example of this is modern casel.com. Uh, he, he, uh, he reviews vacuums,
he and his team and they literally have a room in their house where they go create messes
on the floor and then they test all the different vacuum cleaners. And it's not only vacuum
cleaners, there's, there's a lot of different products, but they actually have a lab like
setting where they run all of the different products through the paces. Okay. Uh, do you
have to go that far? I get asked a lot. Miles, do I have to buy every single product that
I review? No.
You could theoretically go down to the store and get your hands on them in the store and
get a lot of hands on experience with them without purchasing each and every one. But
the better job you do of actually reviewing the products, the better off your user's going
to be, right? If you're just copying and pasting what other people say in other reviews, you're
clearly not adding any sort of value. And affiliate marketers earn income when they
add enough value to convince that searcher, yep, this is the right one for me. So how
do you stand out in that world is a key. So you need to think about it. And again, I think
that I'm modern castle is a great example here and in this step you want to copy down
and prep your links. So if you're doing Amazon reviews and you've come up with your top five
or whatever it is, be sure you pull your links together at this point because now step number
four is writing your posts.
And a lot of times I'll just do this all in a Google doc and I've got a Google doc started
my titles in there, my notes are in there. Um, all of the little snippets from the first
page of Google are in there. And then also my links to the different products that I'm
going to review as the, the best the runner up and the the top budget option, et cetera.
So all of that is in there. Then you need to write out your posts. Now this is where
ultimately what you want to look at from the post level is the different H tags and [inaudible]
in each threes. Okay? These break up your content. Now you have different products that
you're going to be reviewing, which is one way of breaking it up, but you also have those
people also ask identifiers that you got from the home page of Google.
You also have the related searches that you got from the homepage of Google. These are
the sub topics that Google is showing you clearly on the page one of Google that are
important to people who search for your main keyword phrase, so you better be covering
them at minimum in the content somewhere and if they are indeed a large portion of the
idea, they probably deserve their own H two or H three and their own little section of
content. Now again, I have a different video that goes deeper into this. This is the a
how to write SEO content fast. That's the title of it here in YouTube. I highly recommend
watching that video. It's a brilliant video. I'm surprised it gets so low of of views because
of how much value is in that. So you've now written your posts based on that process.
Okay, number five. Step number five is editing. So whether you have an editor that you're
working with and you pass it on to them or whether you are doing the editing yourself,
it varies a little bit, right? So for us, we pass it off to our editor and we have somebody
who copy edits and proofreads things and tries to make sure it's in our voice. If you're
doing the editing yourself, sleep on it for a night, I highly recommend that when you
get it all written out that you don't try to loop right back from the top and re edit
it. You want to come at it with a fresh set of eyes. If you have to get it done in the
afternoon and you wrote the post in the morning, make sure you go do something different. Go
to the gym, go for a walk, go meditate, shift your kind of mental state.
Don't try to go from writing. Then looping around to editing, you're gonna miss a lot
of things because you're just so engaged and engulfed in it. Until you detach from it a
little bit, you won't really be able to come back at it with those editor eyes without
next lens. So sleep on it for night, show back up the next morning is probably one of
the best ways to do it. From there. Number six is preparing all of the layout. So once
you're editing it all in that Google document, you can prep out all the layout. And what
I mean at this point is you need to start going to get all of your free royalty free
images in place. You need to make sure you got all your different links in place, all
the bits and pieces that are gonna make this into a multimedia post.
Any video reviews that you're going to include, you need to compile all of the different assets
that are ultimately going to be on this page. Then from there we send it off to a publishing
team. So I use WP published pro. Uh, my friend Dave wooding runs that and he's essentially
giving me access to his team of outsourcers and they actually do all of my layout and
publishing for me. You might be doing this all yourself in WordPress. It's an extra step
for me because we do all of the content creation in the Google doc side of things. Um, it's
just a little bit easier to work with there. And then when you get into the actual WordPress,
that's, that's the layout. That's the, the kind of, um, the actual publishing process,
right? So if you want to just write it all in WordPress, you can, I don't love that experience,
therefore I use a separate step.
But that is step number seven. Number eight is quality assurance. So again, just like
when you edit it tid at T to it, you want to go back through and take another look at
it once it's finally published. Do all of your images fit in the right way? Are all
of your images the right size? Do the, does the content wrap around your images? Well,
did your plugin you're using in order to kind of get your Amazon links or whatever your
affiliate links are in place? Did it work? Right? Are the headings looking good? Uh,
are there things over top of each other or smashed up? You've got to take time to go
do quality assurance. You don't want to just publish it and go on to the next, publish
it and go on to the next with a glaring issue. Because if there's a glaring issue in your
tax and your layout or in something about your posts, it's going to kill your believability
and believability is everything online.
And then number nine is internal linking. So once a web post, once a blog post is finished
on your website, you need to make sure and go build your little web K. so if you have
other posts on that topic, you want to go build links back to it from those posts, and
obviously you can link out to those posts. Uh, so if it's a part of SEO silo, you can
add to where it is in the silo. Um, and that's just kinda one of the keys is to do your internal
linking. Now there's a, a tool I use a specific tool that does the, the internal linking for
me. I've got another tool for the uh, Amazon, uh, affiliate plugin. All of that is going
to be the blog post that goes along with this. So down in the description there is a blog
post that will take you to the same nine step process and it links out to all of the different
tools I use for the different steps because my team actually uses about four or five different
tools for each of the different steps to to kind of just improve the processes cause I'm
giant, I'm focused on process driven and that's it.
That's the nine steps keyword research, right? The title and description while you go really
figure out what Google thinks about this product research, write out your posts, follow the
process. I'll teach it video below. Um, edit. Make sure you hit it with fresh eyes or a
fresh cumin, a different person or you take some time. Then prep the layout, get all your
stock images in place, get all your headers in place. Then you publish it. You actually
get it onto WordPress. Whether you're doing that or you're outsourcing it, run quality
assurance. Make sure to go back through it with a fine tooth comb and then build your
internal links once you're all done. So you can point your relevance from your past content
that's already ranking and already getting indexed and crawled by Google. You can link
those to this new one and Google's gonna be like, wow, this new post is relevant to all
four of these other posts.
It's going to understand the relevance of that post more quickly. And that's the process.
Now I'm going to jump into month five and give you my scorecard on how we did. So we
are fully up to speed with our content publishing for the first time. It took five months to
get there. So we published three new posts per week each week of last month. So that's
awesome. We've hit our target and that's kind of why I was able to teach our system because
our system is refined and cranking right now. Um, I hired an in house backlinks guy, the
process of, of applying and going back and forth and interviewing and I ended up hiring
three people. So I judged all three of them. And we have one guy and he's, he's on with
us, so he's doing the prospecting portion right now. So he's pretty deep and research.
He's going to start outreach in month number six, which is exciting because as we start
to get more links and more, um, kind of links to us from the other websites in our space,
we're going to see our rankings significantly jump, especially when mixed with the fact
that we're publishing 12 great posts per month right now.
Um, so then specifics on the data up 400% more clicks from search month over month.
So that's a great increase that's happening there. Our click through rate went up by three
X from last month. Um, so it was a 300% increase in click through rate. And the number of impressions
that we got from search went up by 60%. Now these are kind of the, the leading edge indicators
for me, right? In the early days, I'm in month five, we're still getting just, you know,
dozens of searches. I don't have a hundred or something. I don't know the exact number,
but I don't care about the exact number yet because the exact number of visits right now
is not the number that matters most to me. How many impressions am I getting on the search
engine? Now that number tells me that my content is structured and created and built in a way
that Google likes.
Then what is my click through rate on that content that tells me that my title and my
description, right? My headline and my call to action. Essentially my title of my description
are actually compelling the users to click on my content. Remember we started this whole
thing with what are those two different levels of search intent, the human and the algorithm.
So these are the data points that I look at in the early days. Now, if my site continues
to grow with 400% more clicks from search each and every month or 300% more click through
rate, um, each and every month or my impressions on the number of times my site gets seen in
the search engines continues to grow at 60% per month. I've got the power of compounding
on my side and by the time we hit year one or year two, we're going to have a major behemoth
of traffic and that's why I focus on these leading indicators and we have made zero at
this point in time.
We're getting dozens and dozens of clicks. I think we got something like 150 or 180 clicks
to Amazon from our posts at this point. No sales yet, and again, I don't care about this
because I'm working on the long game. Okay? I still believe, and I've said so many times
on this channel, it's a three to five year plan to build out a successful website and
I'm doing all I can to compress this down at what can I get this thing firing off in
a year? That's a big question. This is a big challenge for my team and I, but either way,
I know exactly where I'm going to be at year three or year five, just like this channel,
this YouTube channel that grew to 100,000 plus subscribers in three years to generating
$30,000 per month income in three years. Right? I didn't expect major things in the first
year.
I had my mindset on, right? I had my perspective set correctly so I was able to follow through
for the long game and that's right where I'm at right now. Most people look at the data,
Oh my gosh, I'm not making any money at five months of work and I'm not getting started.
Well, I just know from building multiple businesses online that have drive driven multiple millions
of dollars into my bank accounts, right? I now know from all of that effort that it takes
longer than we humans want. We're impatient. Delaying gratification is not a normal human
emotional response. This is something we have to develop as entrepreneurs. So whether it
takes me one year to hit my goal of $3,000 per month income or whether it takes me three
years to hit my goal of $3,000 per month income, I really don't care. I'm going full speed
ahead at the one year goal.
But either way I'm going to get there because it's that mindset of I'm going to overcome
every challenge and stick with it until I hit my goal. That's the mindset that creates
success. It's not the system. It's not the training. It's no special sauce. There's no
secret magic bullet to this. No webinar taught me some fancy secrets. That's a shortcut.
I'm just going to do the work until I get to where I want to beat and that's the approach
you need to take. Um, I spent $3,400 on the site this month and I've made $0 million in
income. This is an investment for me and my brand. I'm outsourcing 100% of this with little
more than a couple of 20, 30 minute conversations with my, uh, key teammate. If you're doing
this all yourself, your monthly expenses this month probably would have been less than $50
a 30 to $70 depending if you're using any of those tools I linked to on the blog posts
and on that point, on that note, I'm going to cut it.
