Redirect a Wordpress Page or Post with 301 #Best Education Page #Online Earning

hello Alex here from WP or calm now in

this video we're gonna do some

redirecting so basically you might have

some old URLs which out-of-date and you

need to redirect them over to some new

pages or posts on your WordPress website

and that's what we're gonna do the

redirects we're going to set up a called

301 redirects and basically all that

means is that they tell Google when

Google finds on these redirections and

that the page is moved and you know this

is the new site and the new page so go

and take a look here so we're gonna do

this with a plug-in so let's get started

okay I'm on me test site here so this is

test WP TOCOM if you want to have a look

and what we'll do is we've got a couple

of pages on here already from previous

tutorials page a and page B and what I

want to do is redirect a URL to page a

so let's get started I'm logged into the

back end here so if you log in to your

own dashboard we're gonna install the

plug-in first

so the prefer to do that is to go to

plugins and add new and just type into

the search box

redirection and the first one that comes

up should be the plug-in that we're

looking for let's just have a look

yep let's just called redirection it's

by John

Godley so just click install and

installed the plug-in that should only

take a couple seconds and then activate

and the plugins installed

blimey that's taking a couple seconds

here we go right so we're live and the

plugins installed so you'll find the

options under tools are there in

redirection basically in here is where

we're going to type in the old URL and

then type in the new URL it's quite

straightforward really so let's just say

that the old one was called old URL I'm

just gonna type it like that you don't

need to include the domain and the new

URL as I said it's gonna be page a so

I'm just gonna go to page a just to

double check the URL and obviously it's

just page a so I'm just gonna copy that

make it easy and paste that in there and

click add and that's it

hopefully that's done so we can test it

if I visit this old URL so I'm just

gonna type it into a dress bar paste it

in because I'm lazy and press ENTER and

so happens hey there we go we're

redirected back through to page a so

that's it it's pretty straightforward if

you need to edit them you obviously can

go back in here and then you can tick

which ones you aren't doing you can then

move them you can delete them you know

click delete you can reset hit so it'll

actually start counting up how many

people have gone through that

redirection so you can see if they're

working I'll see it is really important

to do this if you do move your website

and you've got old URLs just to maintain

your search engine rankings so it's

always very wise to go through here and

an add a wheel out-of-date URLs you can

actually find out if you've got any 404

and by going in here there won't be any

in there just yet but that means if

people are coming in from old URLs and

hitting a 404 they'll be listed in here

then you can easily just add add them as

a redirect hey that was useful if you've
