THIS Made Us $23,000 in a Single Day! (New Product Launch Details)

- (claps) All right, so today's been really insane.
I have to show you some of the notifications
that have been coming in on my phone all day long,
ping after ping after ping, sale after sale after sale
and this is because myself and my partner Caleb
launched a brand new
product today
and within the last hour alone, we've earned $577.62.
Today, as you can see here on the Shopify account,
we've earned over $20,000 selling 500-ish units
of a brand new product that I'm actually holding
in my hands right now.
Can you see it?
- [Deep Voice] Hello.
- [High Pitched Voice] Hello!
- I'll show you what this is in just a minute
and I'll tell you why this is such an important component
of our business and how we got here,
and it was because we listened to our customers.
What's up Team Flynn?
Pat here and as many of you know,
my business partner Caleb and I,
we have been on a two year long journey
from idea to product for the SwitchPod.
This is a product that was developed
as a result of an itch that myself and Caleb
and a bunch of other videographers have,
and we just wanted to scratch it
because not only is this a great tool,
but yeah you can actually scratch your back with it, too.
But what you're seeing here is the SwitchPod.
This is a vlogging apparatus, a tool, a tripod.
It doesn't really look like a tripod, right?
Because you kinda hold your camera here,
but in any moment that you'd like,
you can just kinda whip it open
and then it becomes a tripod.
This product right here launched exactly one year ago
to the date that I'm filming this video right now,
and it launched and hit over $100,000.
We hit our funding goal of $100,000 on Kickstarter
within 11 hours and 26 minutes,
and across the whole campaign, we earned over $415,000.
Several months later, we got this thing manufactured,
put it in a nice beautiful box for everybody,
and check it out, in the back,
my son and I are even demoing the product here
on the package.
And we've sold nearly 10,000 of these bad boys.
We're already placing another order
and this business is just blowing up.
But today especially, something amazing happened.
We launched product number dos.
That's two, for those of you who don't know.
Now ever since launching this product,
we had a number of people tell us
what other products we should create,
but we knew based on the feedback from our customers
and the people who got this delivered to them
and they tested it
and they shared their YouTube videos about it,
I meant here are a ton of them out there,
that our next product had to be an accessory
that was in high demand, and it's right here in my hands.
It is the brand new SwitchPod ball head.
- Whoa! (camera clicks)
- So, here's what you do.
You pop it onto your SwitchPod,
or really any other tripod that you might have,
it's kind of a universal ball head there,
and you loosen up the little knob here,
and then all of a sudden, you can move this thing around.
And the cool thing about this is it has various settings.
If you tighten it just a little bit, you can now swivel
without the camera just like flopping down.
A lot of other ball heads, you just loosen it a little bit
and it's like. (flops over on desk)
(intro to Hollaback Girl plays)
This one, you can sort of tighten it halfway
and sort of move the camera around a little bit
just to make some minor adjustments, which is really cool.
And then you can tighten it all the way if you'd like,
and this is, it's not moving, and I'm not just a weakling.
It also has the sort of 90 degree tilt and it's,
as you can see, perfectly suited for this SwitchPod.
It is tiny, it is small, and it's much better
than the other ones that people have been using
on their SwitchPods.
And this has been an amazing day
because people are loving it, they're buying it,
and here's why.
Most of the customers are existing customers.
And that's a business lesson for you,
your best customers are your existing customers,
because number one, they're already proven to purchase
and if they like what they got, they're gonna want more.
Secondly, they're also fantastic,
'cause they're gonna tell you what you've been doing wrong
and what you can do better,
and that's exactly what people did.
They didn't say we were doing anything wrong,
they were just like,
"You know what would make the SwitchPod better?
"If you could attach something that would adjust the angle
"of my camera."
And again, it can also scratch your back, too.
Ooh, that was a good one.
You can double wield these guys.
You could go rapid fire tripod mode if you'd like.
Or you could, you know.
The GorillaPod really is a great tool,
it's been used by many people
and if you need to wrap around trees and poles,
like ours can't do that for sure.
But if you wanna vlog and just have it easily deploy
to tripod mode, this is your best bet.
And now it comes with this amazing ball head.
I'll put some links in the description below,
but I just wanted to encourage you to remind you
that even if you have one customer,
that person can be just absolute gold for you
in the future of your business, and I'm just so thankful
that we built this customer base,
first off at Kickstarter and then a lot of exposure
through a lot of the creators out there
in the YouTube world.
Thank you so much for your support.
And beyond that, we've been selling on Amazon too,
and now of course when you have a second product come out
and you already have a list of customers
from your first product,
it's so easy to launch new products.
Just make sure that it's something that they want,
listen, do the research, test
and at that point, you almost can't fail.
So if you'd like to pick up one of the SwitchPods
or a ball head or a bundle,
that means the ball head and the SwitchPod
for a little bit of a discount
since you get 'em both together, you can check out the links
in the description below.
Right now, I wanna show you the video that my partner Caleb,
and I'll also link to his channel
in the description as well, my business partner on this,
my main man on this project,
we've been just having so much fun, learning so much
and we are definitely gonna be sharing
as much as we can along the way,
from how to run a successful Kickstarter campaign
to how to manage a product business like this,
'cause the margins are much smaller than digital products,
just FYI, to dealing with customer support,
to dealing with manufacturing overseas,
to all of those things.
There's so much that we've learned
across the last couple years.
We know there's a lot of you that have great ideas
in your head, you wanna get 'em out
and we didn't think that this could happen.
Big shout out to the team at prouduct.com for helping us.
But for right now, check out the video that Caleb created,
'cause it's beautifully shot,
it shows off the product really well.
If you come out with your own product in the future
that's a physical product
that could look nice on camera or in video,
definitely use this following clip as inspiration.
- Exactly one year ago to this day, January 29th, 2019,
we launched the SwitchPod on Kickstarter
and it blew us away.
Over the first 12 hours, we raised $100,000,
which was our goal,
and then over the next 59 and a half days,
we raised over $400,000 from 4,148 different people.
Still to this day I'm amazed at the support of everyone
on the internet and everyone that bought a SwitchPod.
Over the next year, we made over 10,000 SwitchPods,
shipped them all over the world
and now to celebrate the one year anniversary
of our Kickstarter launch,
we have a little surprise in store for you today
that I'll show you in a second.
So once we launched on Kickstarter,
the main question we got, the one thing that we got asked
about was a very specific add-on.
People asked us are you going to make a ball head?
While we were recommending third party ball heads,
to people that do work well with SwitchPod,
if you already have them laying around
or you're looking to buy one,
we were secretly working on our next product.
We didn't wanna just rush into throwing a ball head up
on the Kickstarter campaign to try to get more sales
while we had all that momentum
and we didn't just wanna white label some existing ball head
and slap it on top of the SwitchPod.
We wanted to make sure
that whatever our next product would be
would have the same features that a SwitchPod does.
That it's strong, lightweight, quick and really easy to use.
So when I went to the factory
that was making all of the tripods, they had a room
that was just all the different kinds of tripods
and camera accessories that they've worked on before,
and they had a bunch of ball heads there
and I tested every single one that was in that room
to see which one was the strongest and simplest.
Kind of tight, compact, but sturdy.
We worked with the factory to make this
based on what I had seen there
and what they'd worked on before.
And what we landed on
was what I think was one of the slimmest
most low profile ball heads out there
that's also very, very strong when it's tightened down.
There is a quarter inch 20 thread on the bottom
so you don't need an adapter to attach it
directly on top of your SwitchPod
and there's a quarter inch 20 tripod mount screw
right on top.
The tightening knob is dual winged,
so it's really easy to loosen or tighten
and if you wanna add a different angle,
you can always rotate it by pulling out
and it'll lock in place.
We made this thing as strong as we could.
Even with a heavier camera and a long lens on it,
it doesn't budge or slowly sag over time.
There's also a 90 degree tilt section
so if you want to rotate it down
and take a vertical video, you can.
There is a rubberized nonslip circle pad
to protect the bottom of your camera
and make sure it's secured tight,
but if you want to and you need a longer tripod screw,
you can also remove it.
Our tripod was originally designed
so that you can just screw your camera right onto the top
using this knob right here,
but now if you want more flexibility
and the ability to adjust your camera a little more,
just do the same thing with the ball head,
screw it right on like that, you're ready to go.
Just put your camera there.
So today right now, basically when I publish this video,
we're opening up pre-orders for the ball head
and if you order in the next week or so,
you'll save some money.
If you order it with a tripod also, you'll save even more.
And we're not doing a Kickstarter for this ball head
like we did for our tripod because they're basically ready.
We placed an order, we've made a bunch of them,
they'll be to our warehouse in February 2020,
so within the next one to four weeks,
we should get that first shipment
and we'll be shipping 'em out asap
to anyone that pre-orders.
If you wanna pick one up, just go to switchpod.co/ballhead.
That'll take you there
to all the information about how to order one
and if you have any questions, let me know below this video.
I can't wait to see what you make with this.
