in this video I'm gonna be taking you
through Kingdom version 3.0
now Kingdom is the theme that we've been
using on our Amazon affiliate websites
well if you ever lose your flat sum then
you probably been using Kingdom and yeah
they recently updated it it's quite a
big update they've changed stuff around
so I wanted to update it for you and
take you through all the new stuff and
well let's have a look

thanks for watching so the other day and
if you notice that I put up a really
long tutorial on how to create an Amazon
my previous one where we use the kingdom
theme and Woo's own to build yeah a
great Amazon affiliate website if you
haven't seen that video then be sure to
check it out I'll put a link on the
screen now however a couple of days
after I put that video up the developer
of the theme then released version 3.0
where they moved everything around and
all settings are different and all that
sort of stuff making my tutorial
out-of-date already but anyway not to
worry in this video I take you through
updating the theme to version free and
the difference is that you're gonna find
once you've done that now as you'll see
in a minute when we put the the video on
while I was updating I lost all of the
theme settings and it was generally a
bit of a pain so what I'm gonna say to
you is if you are running two point two
point two now please make a note of all
your settings your colors anything else
that you may have done to the theme just
in case because when you update the
theme you may lose those settings and
you might need to put them all back in
again which is a bit of a pain so anyway
let's I've run the tape now and you can
have a look and I'll take you through
updating and all the changes and how I
got on doing all that stuff which well
take a look okay so I'm over at boot
boutique which was the site I set up in
the tutorial video I was just talking
about the one that went up online just a
week or so ago maybe that long and yet
it's using the kingdom theme and it's
using version 2.2 point two I believe so
I'm already logged in let's just go back
into the back end and have a look at
what Kingdom looks like now as you
probably already aware if you're running
it it's under appearance and Kingdom
theme in here you find all the options
to do with the theme you've got your
layout which is the main thing you're
probably using so here you do your logo
and your colors and your footer and your
header and all that sort of stuff and
your social icons so what we'll do is I
will update the theme now and we'll take
a look at all the options it's like an
inversion free so to update the theme
I'm gonna use a plug-in that makes it
really easy to update themes because
you've got when you update your theme is
that if you don't do it correctly you
can lose your your current settings so
hopefully that won't happen if we use
the plug-in but you know who knows let's
try
plugins and add new in the search box on
the type in easy theme update and it's
this one here the first one comes up
gonna click install now and then
activate ok then I'm going to go over to
theme forest and download the latest
version of Kingdom and to my downloads
just filter it because I've got quite a
lot of downloads there it is so download
and download all files fine download it
somewhere that I know where it is that
Documents folder click save and just
just bring that up on my computer it's
just still downloading ok that's all
don't have to speed up time then it was
dragging on a bit even hunt my 850 Meg
internet connection oh well so I am zip
files here I'm going to just extract
that and I think it's about
double-clicking let's double click and
then that's created this folder here and
within there we've got a theme folder
and within there we've got this theme
zipped folder and within there we've got
our kingdom theme which is what its
gonna be using right now so back to the
website and then into appearance and
themes now because we've got the plug-in
running it should I place it all for us
if we just go to add new then click
upload theme at the top choose file and
if I find the folder which has got the
theme folder inside it and then inside
that it's got the theme zipped folder
select Kingdom and click open and then
install now
okay that's all done as you can see it
was backing up the old version of theme
and it's removed the old one and it's
updated successfully
let's click activate then let's just go
back to the website and just check that
it looks ok oh great we've lost the
settings so she doesn't matter if you
use the update plug-in or not
nevermind I'm gonna leave all that stuff
in because I still think it's a good way
to update because it's easier than
switching themes and what sort of stuff
but now let's go through and it looks
like we're gonna have to set up all the
settings again so back into the
dashboard
first off let's go through installing
these and updating these plugins out but
that could be causing a little issue but
I doubt it
so first of all let's install these runs
I'm just gonna select them all and click
install and then apply ok return to the
required plugins installer these two
need activating this just click activate
and activate ok and if we just go back
up to the updates again I think there's
a couple of plugins that needed updating
all these it's gonna update all them as
well right here yeah so it's broken the
settings which is what I didn't want it
to happen but hey it's free just because
it's a big version update and they've
moved us so they've moved everything
around which is probably why which is a
little bit annoying but not to worry
there's not too many settings to worry
about
hopefully ok
right so we're gonna need to do a few
little adjustments here or there
first I'm gonna do is actually I'm just
gonna reload the page just to make sure
my cache is clear using a hard reload so
today I'm gonna press on my Mac its
command shift an hour but if you just
google it on your whatever browser hard
reload browser you should find it okay
it still doesn't look any different
nevermind so let's go and go and have a
look at the settings so if we go into
dashboard and into appearance and
Kingdom theme okay so these are new
settings in terms of Kingdom as you can
see that kind of styling section is not
in here anymore they've got the sidebars
and and all that sort of stuff but yeah
there's none of the style stuff so to do
any styling colors logo you need to go
in to customize which is here
so yeah here's how we can change some
stuff I mean yeah it's all the default
settings gone so in here I think I had
something like we find you the best
boots I have to go back to my video and
check what I had I think it was
something like that there we go let's go
back logo is forgotten my logo hopefully
it will still be in the media library it
should be so just type logo in here
whenever your file name has to be cool
mine was called logo I think there it is
it's 300 by 81 you're gonna need to
remember that because you need to type
it in here okay there we go
the head of social options so in here
you type in your social media profiles
so I'll do that later I'm going to do it
right now it's a little bit boring but
you get the idea and I don't have a
Google+ not going to turn that one off
see it's kind of updating I think it is
it yeah as I'm making changes that's
quite handy I mean these options are
better than the previous ones that we
had before but it's just a pain that
it's forgotten my previous settings and
here we got the theme fonts the font to
me looks different to the one that we
had before and there's also a weird
little square thing on the cart which is
a bit annoying so look at that as well
later I think I'll have to raise that
with a 18 I think it's his menu fun
that's changed wonder what it was before
- I could probably have a quick look
I've got still got zombie Merc which is
running on the old version and let's
just see what this font is cuz I'd like
the font that it had before I don't know
why they've changed it insert it anyway
well she's an inspector just so I can
see what it is and open sans yeah good
I'll open sans you can't go wrong with
it so let's see if we can set that back

okay
and of course you can go from here and
adjust all these settings as you like
it's good because there are a few more
options and there were on the previous
version so that is handy I thought that
Google API keys for nevermind you don't
know the shop settings there they all
look fine
anything is these colors they've all
gone wrong again so I think I had the
primary color as purple
I think luckily I've got a note with
these colors on hang on but well purple
is this color so I think that was the
primary let's have a look and then the
secondary I'll go for the pink color
like that menu the normal state is you
know I want that to be the purple again
doesn't like that hang on let me just
copy and I think it's good I copied a
space like that
the menu background color I wanted that
to be purple as well I think there we go
okay I guess this needs to be white I
got a bit confused there that should be
the one who's out looking all right now
yeah perfect so that's all saved what
else we've got here the menus yep that's
all fine it's actually remembered that
setting and I think the widgets are all
they're all still good so that's good
few of the fonts have changed I think
I'll have to have a look at that again
but there we go and it has actually
remembered my additional CSS which is a
bonus so it's only lost a few settings
not all of them so let's come out and
just have a look at the site it's nearly
back to as it was where's the top bar
gone now because I'm logged in just
gonna pop open another browser just one
I'm not logged in and just have a look
nope the top bar has gone man they
really have changed a few things because
that that font size is different as well
now that's the H for you I'm gonna have
to go back in and adjust that and also
this menu has got some weird things
going on because why is that one smaller
it makes no sense that's a different
font size to that oh okay let's just
close for it I'm gonna need to do a
little bit of CSS and see what's going
on here
so in terms of this menu it's like the
spacing has been increased or something
cuz it actually changed my font size
change the font to open sans as I
requested yeah so why is that one a
different size makes that's weird let's
have a look so I might need to add a
little bit of CSS yeah that's so the
font size there if some reason has been
forced to be 15 which makes no sense at
all when this one is what is it is 18
why why so let's just put that up to 18
it looks better
see what this padding is okay I'm going
to adjust that on all of them so let me
just put that down to 10 for now cuz I'm
gonna just heal the one so maybe 10 as
well on that side 10 10
then we're gonna copy this CSS I'm just
gonna go into the customize button there
do it in another tab just so I can keep
keep this open
okay save and publish so let's adjust
the padding so it goes top right I want
the right to be ten I want the left to
be 10
that's better I want the top to be more
actually let's put that 20 that's
looking better now what they done to
this thing to paste that in okay let's
go back and just close this from refresh
okay that's looking better where's the
top bar gone let's let's have a look at
that
it says it's on definitely says it's on
that's off no top are on there's a
doctor why is it not showing how
annoying let's go back to the side and
just see maybe it's magically appeared
Oh as turn it off turn on again like all
good tech support
ok last few things then before we wrap
this video up which I fear may be a bit
of a long ramble of a video now I hope I
hope you get the idea what I will do is
I will create another video very soon
where I just cut to the chase and just
compare version 2.2 options with version
free like for like so it's very easy for
you guys that have watched the tutorial
that I put up just the other day for you
to kind of carry your settings across
and set up version free hopefully but
anyway while we're on this let's go down
and just do this font size that I
mentioned earlier so if we go into
customize we should just be able to
tweak this within the settings quite
easily and for nothing to take whose own
yet and the fonts here then if we scroll
down we should be able to find the H
free so I wish is there 24 pics so I
just scroll down the side we should be
able to adjust this and see it change on
the fly
it's pull out to 34 so you remember in
the previous versions
that's not changed it is at h free is it
h free i just have a quick look you
remember on the previous version the HP
was actually bigger than the h2 which i
thought was a bit weird yeah definitely
h free maybe I need to save it let's
have a look sometimes the preview thing
doesn't always work so I open and need
to have let's have a look close these
tabs to keep it neat
okay
that's big I don't mind big that's fine
so yeah that's how we adjust the heading
sizes all within here and you might want
to adjust the fonts because again I
think it's changed the font a little bit
but that's not unpleasant so we'll keep
it as that in terms of this a little
square just to finish off let me come
out of here the little square that I'm
seeing on my checkout which looks a bit
of a mess it seems to be just on this
Chrome browser that I'm running on the
Mac so I've cleared the cache still
there if I look at the site on Firefox
for example it looks absolutely fine so
I'm not worried about that it's just my
browser being a bit silly so that's the
end of this video
supposed to do to make sure that you
check out the channel because I will be
uploading a new video very very soon why
I'm just comparing the options like for
like so if you're working through my new
tutorial 2017 Amazon a food tutorial
which obviously goes through 2.2 options
and you've got version 4 and your bit
confused please check out that video and
hopefully that make it a little bit
clearer so that didn't quite go to
planned it hopefully you were able to
update your theme okay and your managed
to kind of reset up your settings or
maybe didn't lose them
