5 Tips For Achieving Your Goals And Resolutions

you
you
hello everyone this is stephanie from
bali right now and i want to give you
some tips for achieving your goals and
resolutions this year and these are some
strategies that I think about that have
helped me achieve goals in the past and
some just kind of food for thought for
you guys that you guys can start to
apply in your life toward some of your
goals to make sure that you're taking
action and achieving them so number one
I would say that behind every goal that
you have you want to make sure that
first and foremost you have a really
powerful why behind that goal and what I
mean by that is you need to have
empowering reasons that are going to
motivate you to take action towards
those goals setting a goal is not enough
you can't just say that I want to
achieve this or I want to achieve that
you're going to make sure that you have
the reasons behind it which is going to
be the rocket fuel it's going to push
you to take action every single day to
make that goal reality if you don't have
strong enough reasons then that's where
people end up coming short coming up
short and kind of giving up on their
goals and perk at procrastinating and
and you know being lazy and all that
kind of stuff you don't want that to
happen to you so you're going to have a
strong why for me you know I've always
believed that people change their lives
either at a desperation or inspiration
in my case it was desperation you know I
was just so unhappy with my life I was
struggling in so many different ways I
was depressed and I got to a position
where I had to change because the pain
of not changing was so immense it was so
strong that there's no way that
I was gonna that that not achieving
these goals are not taking action would
be even an option for me so for me you
know a lot of the reasons before were
driven by a pain it was driven by the
pain of not being enough the pain of
being alone the pain of being broke and
being in debt and struggling in
my life for me that created so much pain
and driving me that I just did not want
to be mediocre I didn't want to settle
in my life I wanted to achieve greatness
and the pain of not being enough is what
really motivated me when I had some
experiences
a pain in my life of frustration I would
use that as fuel I would use that as as
you know rocket fuel to push me towards
my goals even further for example I
remember traveling at some point to my
life and living in hostels and just the
pain of that just really pissed me off
and being able to go to a hotel or go
somewhere and try to do something and
look at the price not be able to do that
that created pain in me and I used that
pain to take action or in the case of
like dating or something like that if I
met a girl and she didn't like me for
whatever reason that I used that I used
the pain the rejection whatever it is to
drive me to get better and better and
better and so I'd encourage you to use
the pain in your life whatever there
might be for you to drive you even
further for me at this point I'm not as
much driven by the pain even though in
some circumstances I do experience and I
do use it as fuel still but for me now
it's more the passion of just loving so
much what I do and being motivated to do
more and create you know greater things
and just that vision is what really
pulls me to drive even further in my
life so I would say number one know your
why no other reasons why you want to
achieve your goal just make a list of
them you know I've got a great video
blog on my life plan that goes more into
just kind of setting up the entire plan
of your life of what you want why you
want it all i canna stuff make sure to
go through that i'll have a link to that
as well number two is having a strategic
action plan having some sort of plan or
some sort of map that you can just
follow with each of your goals that can
ensure that you get there so for example
if you want to lose weight or if you
want to put on muscle whatever you're
going to have to make sure that you have
a step-by-step action plan that as long
as you follow it you're going to
achieve that goal so it could be working
out a certain number of days a week five
days a week it can be you know Bolin
certain diet plan maybe certain
supplements may be cardio whatever it is
you got to make sure that you have a
plan and you do not deviate from that
plan in any way having a coach or having
the right plan is really really
important because if you have a shitty
strategy then there's no hope for you
there's no way that you're going to
achieve that goal and you're going to
make sure that the plan reflects the
goal you have a crazy-ass goal of like
you're going to make me
million dollars but your plan isn't
going to get you there then then then
you need to kind of change your goal or
just kind of change your plans so that
you have something that is going to be
guaranteed to make sure that you reach
that goal so make sure that you have a
plan in each area of your life don't
just set out a goal randomly and not
know how are you going to achieve it or
what you're going to do make sure you
have the plan with that because the plan
is going to give you the certainty that
if you just follow this plan you're
going to achieve the goal I have a lot
of certainty in belief and my goals
because I have the plan I have the
strategy in place that gives me the
confidence that I can achieve them I
know that as long as they follow the
plan and I just do it consistently day
after day then I'm gonna achieve those
goals so know your why have a plan
another thing that has really helped me
is make sure that you chunk down your
goals and the smaller more bite-sized
achievable goals so for example a one
year goal a year's a long time here is
something that you know some of your
goals you might be thinking how am I
going to achieve that that's just so far
away in the future and sometimes when
you have a goal it's so far away you can
kind of often put it off a lot of the
time what I do is I take my yearly goals
and I chunk it down into quarterly goals
and I chunk it down into monthly goals
and I found excuse me I find monthly
goals are a lot easier to manage than a
huge yearly goal and so I know that if I
just achieve each of the goals I set for
myself every month over the course of
the entire year twelve times then that's
going to leave me to achieving that
yearly goal and so for example if your
goal is to you know lose 20 pounds or
something like that and you got to
figure out exactly how many pounds is
you're gonna have to lose this month
right and it might be just a small
little bite-size goal but that's more
achievable than losing 20 pounds losing
two pounds this month it's something
that you could easily do losing four
pounds this month that's something
that's more in your control and
something more achievable for your brain
to wrap yourself around to make sure
that you can make that happen and i also
find by doing that I mean my monthly
goals are what I think about most every
day I don't really think about my yearly
goals as much although I might have that
on a conviction board or on a whiteboard
or so Mike
that but it's more the monthly ones that
every day you know I'm writing those
ones out those are the ones that are the
short-term the short you know short
focus focus goals that i can move
towards on a daily basis and i can make
sure that i'm measuring myself every
month because of that another tip that i
have when setting goals is making sure
that you're kind of following the smarts
acronym and i see a lot of people make
this mistake when setting goals they
just kind of sit just crazy goals that
are way out there without kind of
following this principle and I've
learned this principle I think from
Brian Tracy or something like that and
it's really good so smart is an acronym
it stands for specific measurable
attainable realistic and having a
timeline so you want to make sure your
goals are specific so don't just say I
want to lose weight I want to make you
know I want to make more money make sure
you have exactly how much money you want
to make exactly how much weight that you
want to lose down to the number the body
fat even the waist measurement or
whatever it is be specific with that
number two is smart specific measurable
right so that's part of it being a
specific as you can measure it on an
ongoing basis so it has to be a
quantifiable goal like some sort of
number or something you can measure
every single month attainable and
realistic so don't set goals that are
way too out there I always like to say
goals that I know that I can achieve
that are attainable for me because when
you set a goal it's way out there often
times your brain has no idea how it's
going to happen you have no belief for
it and you're setting yourself up for
failure you don't want to be coming up
short year after year on your goals
because after a while your brains give
me like why even set goals what's the
point of doing this because I'm not even
achieving them so you start to associate
pain to goal setting and you don't want
that to happen I'd like to set small
goals that I know I can achieve and by
achieving them it gives me more
confidence more momentum to set the next
school and then having a timeline is
super important as well making sure you
have a specific date that you're going
to achieve them by people perform better
under pressure when there's a certain
time line for yourself to achieve those
goals another thing I'm going to say and
it's starting to rain here so I'm going
to wrap this up here but get a count of
bill
accountability is so powerful I've got a
mastermind group that I mean with every
Monday morning even here when I'm in
Bali right now we do a skype call or a
google hangout every Monday morning and
we basically share our goals and hold
each other accountable towards our goals
every single month and throughout the
year and every week we set our weekly
accountabilities and there's
consequences to not achieving them we
give each other feedback we push each
other we support each other it's
basically a group of individuals that
are living life at a high level setting
goals for themselves and there's a lot
of power in that and the book Think and
Grow Rich it goes a lot into
masterminding and the power of that this
is something that all successful people
that I know of they do they surround
themselves with other people that are on
the same path and are also very
successful as well so accountability it
doesn't have to be just a mastermind
group that's one idea it could be just
an accountability buddy you know have a
friend or just find them some random
person on the internet or something down
on a message board or a group and do
regular check-ins with each other
check-in maybe once a week or whatever
and just kind of hold each other
accountable towards your goals having a
coach is a great thing as well for me a
big believer in coaches I've had coaches
for the last so many years of my life
and I attribute that to my success that
I have now but I've got a coach for my
fitness competition I got a coach for my
internet marketing business I've had
just general life coaches in my life
having someone that is there for you
their entire job that you're paying them
for is to make sure that you're
achieving your goals that you're on
track you're taking action there's a lot
of power in that as well so those are my
kind of tips for you guys you know with
my goals and with your goals rather the
last one that I'm kind of mentioned
before is making your goals public
sharing them with other people so that
you're going to be again more
accountable to take action towards them
but i think if you apply some of these
steps and some of these kind of tips if
you would then it really kind of guide
you towards your goals this year and
really help you to achieve them make
them happen so hope you guys enjoyed
this video and I'll see you in the next
one
