5 Ways To Get Motivated

hey what's up guys Stefan here from
project life mastery calm and a bit of a
change of scenery today I'm recording
this video right now on my rooftop in
beautiful Vancouver British Columbia
Canada which is where I live and just
enjoying this beautiful city view right
now although the Sun is going down soon
so I've got to record this video fairly
quick before it gets a little bit too
dark but it's nice to be able to get
outdoors and enjoy this because I don't
really get to enjoy it that often in the
winter time and most of the year here in
Vancouver it's fairly cold a little bit
rainy and by the way this is my little
rooftop office right here behind me
where I like to work from every once in
a while and bring my laptop and I do a
lot of my rituals out here and watch
videos out here and whatnot so it's kind
of fun but right now I decided to shoot
some videos outdoors and there's one
subject I want to talk to you guys about
that I think can help and benefit a lot
of people I get this question a lot and
it's something I've already addressed
quite a bit on my youtube channel and a
lot of people haven't gone back to watch
the content the videos that I've done I
recommend you do because a lot of the
questions that you probably send me I've
already answered got over 700 almost 800
videos to have done on my youtube
channel and so sometimes I don't like to
be redundant although I know that
repetition is the mother of mastery and
so sometimes unifo discuss something
before the repetition is key and that
mastery requires you not just knowing it
but doing it and living it so let's talk
about motivation motivation is what a
lot of people been asking me about and
it's a really big subject because
anything that you desire in your life
any goal dream or ambition that you have
you obviously know by now that it's
going to require a lot of hard work it's
going to require sacrifice it's going to
require time it's going to require you
may be going through challenging times
uncomfortable times uncomfortable
moments of not feeling like you want to
do something but pushing yourself to do
it and that goes without saying for
anything that you desire whether that's
achieving financial success freedom
changing your body your relationships
your spiritual eyes your emotions
whatever it is that you want if you know
it's going to require motivation and
that motivation is that energy they're
going to feel within yourself that's
going to pull you towards what it is you
want what it is that you desire
this might be times in your life when
you don't have the motivation you know
motivation can go up and down and that's
why today I'm going to show you guys 5
ways 5 ways that you can have more
motivation in your life these are things
have helped me times in my life where I
haven't been as motivated and I've also
had times where I'm on fire toms I'm
super motivated I'm sure you've had that
as well at different moments of your
life too and I noticed for myself today
that I don't very often not have
motivation you know I almost have too
much motivation to be honest with you
guys where I just love what I'm doing
and I enjoy it so much it doesn't feel
like work it doesn't feel like I need to
be motivated to do it it's just now
habits and behaviors and and things that
I value and enjoy and I think that's the
ultimate place to get to you know where
you know you know pursuing your goals
and your dreams doesn't require
motivation it's just things that you
enjoy doing because they're part of your
identity they're part of who you are and
obviously that can take some time to get
to you know oftentimes you know if I
were to ask you what do you what did you
spend your time doing you know what do
you enjoy doing and maybe for you it's
playing video games or maybe for you
it's watching TV or maybe for you it's
spending time with friends or you know
some hobby that you might enjoy and if I
were to ask you does it require
motivation for you to do that your
answer will probably be no you know it's
just I enjoy it you know I feel I enjoy
playing video games or I enjoy spending
time with my friends or going out or
reading or whatever it is that you do
and what's fascinating is that there's
people out there that are motivated for
different things but you can change what
you associate pleasure to you can change
what you enjoy you know there's one
thing as I'm sure you can relate two
times in my life things I never enjoyed
doing you know I just thought it was at
or maybe was going to the gym for the
first time and I just hated it and
required a lot of hard work and as
uncomfortable as painful but now today
when I looked at I loved it
I enjoy it you know it doesn't require
motivation I almost feel like my day was
not right if I didn't go to the gym you
know it's like I just don't feel the
same way I don't
you know feel good about myself and I
often times you know always find a way
to go to the gym because of that because
I enjoy so much oh that's a sign my
batteries get a little bit low so one
thing I want to mention before I get
into the five byways and I kinda already
mentioned one for you but I'm reminded
by a good quote that Tony Robbins shared
which is that change is never a matter
of ability it's always a matter of
motivation okay I'll say that again
change is never a matter of ability it's
always a matter of motivation so
everyone is capable of change you are
capable so much in your life you haven't
even scratch the surface of your
potential and neither have myself you're
capable of financial success abundance
you know to be able to create it
whatever kind of lifestyle you desire
any materialistic thing that you desire
you're capable of that you're capable of
changing your body you're capable of an
amazing relationship with love and
passion a better spiritual life friends
great family life you're capable of all
of that you're capable of anything you
want and it's been proven time and time
again what a human being is capable of
you know just look at all the success
stories of what other human beings to be
able to accomplish and human beings are
not that different and we're all born
you know start from scratch in a certain
way some people might have better
opportunities when it comes to education
or finance finances or different
upbringing as to whatnot but for the
most part there's been many examples and
role models of people that have been in
much worse circumstances much worse than
you you know you and I I had a rough
upbringing but there's people out there
then be able to turn that around whether
that's an Oprah Winfrey or the other
success stories that you've heard of
before and so you're capable of so much
okay and the only reason why you
wouldn't be taking action and working
hard towards your goals and your dreams
and your desires because I'm sure you
know by now whatever it is that you want
it's going to require a lot of
motivation and a lot of hard work and
the hard work oftentimes is
uncomfortable for a lot of people and
they associate pain to the process of
doing it and so that's where the
motivation the energy is going to pull
you towards it it's going to be so
so motivation is really what we all need
we have to have that motivation if you
have that you can do anything you can
achieve anything become great at
anything and again that's been proven
time and time again so five ways five
ways to get more motivated and somebody
is already shared I'm going to share
them again number one you got to have a
vision you got to have a vision for your
life you're going to have something that
you visualize that's much greater than
what your current conditions are your
current state of living and not just any
vision it has to be a vision that's
exciting to you has to be something that
you look forward to something you want
so bad that you're willing to to to go
through the discomfort and the
challenges of life to be able to pursue
it and be able to obtain it and you've
already had moments like that you've
already had moments in your life where
you've had a vision you've had a vision
maybe of eventually one day graduating
from high school or university and that
motivated you or the vision of getting a
great job and so you wanted to go to
university and work hard towards that or
the motivation of getting a job or the
mote or the vision of getting your
driver's license you know we've all had
certain things like that that motivated
us to be able to go through the
uncomfortable times to be able to make
that happen so you got to start with
that but often times when I say that
people are like okay great
have a vision what I really mean by that
is take the time to write it out take
out a pen and paper
after this video perhaps and actually
write out what your vision is visualize
it see a picture it but write it out you
know create a vision board if you got it
you know take images and things that
might stimulate you and daydream dream
about any student you want to create in
your life whether it's nice cars or
houses or traveling or contribution or
relationship or fitness whatever it is
it doesn't matter as long as it
motivates you there's no right or wrong
you know that there's nothing wrong with
having more in your life because
naturally we all desire that we all
desire the need for more for growth in
our lives and there's nothing wrong with
it
you know if you could be more happy in
your life and should you of course if
you could be more loving more passionate
that should you of course if you could
give more should you of course if you
could have more to get have more money
than showed you of course if you could
be healthier than should you of course
nothing wrong with that whatsoever
okay so create that vision write it out
get images pictures and oftentimes just
by having that and focusing on it and
visualizing it that will pull you that
will make you excited to start taking
action okay so that's that's the one way
that I'd recommend first number two is
have reasons why that's important to you
okay I have reasons why you really want
what it is that you want to be able to
achieve in your life the more reasons
you can have the better the reasons are
almost like the fuel for a fire okay and
the reason can be anything it can be
pleasurable reasons benefits that you
want let's say for example you want to
build a business and you want to create
freedom for yourself why do you want
that what are the reasons that will pull
you further towards that well maybe at
first some of the reasons you might have
or so that you know they're pleasurable
for example so that you can have money
so that you can travel so that you can
be your own boss so that you can you
know be able to give to others so that
you can go to seminars and prove
yourself and grow so that you can take
care of your family and your friends so
that you can buy a nice car
you know maybe there's a certain car
that you really desire or have a nice
home or apartment or a second home
whatever that might be those are
pleasurable reasons that you might have
they could even be emotional reasons
like you know by doing this I'm going to
prove to myself and others of what I'm
capable of or I'm going to get more
confident so I'm gonna get more pride
more self-esteem I'm gonna increase my
happiness levels by achieving this okay
those are all reasons that will pull you
towards this vision and the goals that
you have yourself but you also want to
think about reasons of consequence the
pain that you want to avoid that are
going to pull also push you and pull you
towards what you want so that might be a
reason that you want to be successful
and build a business so that you can
quit your job so that you never have to
do anything that you don't enjoy doing
in your life so that you don't have to
be in debt anymore you don't have to
struggle financially you don't want to
be in scarcity anymore in your life and
have to
deals a lot of financial challenges that
maybe your parents went through or you
see other people around you or you don't
want to be depressed and worried about
money so those are more consequences
that you're looking to avoid in your
life that will also motivate you as well
okay so think about that the pleasure
okay
Sigmund Freud taught many years ago
about the pleasure principle and also
think about the pain and the
consequences of also not achieving the
goals and the vision that you have
yourself often times just by thinking
about that can change it can give you
that immediate motivation that will pull
you towards what is you want okay number
three okay so number one have a vision
and that can even me goals to read a
vision board number two is have reasons
for it and number three would say is
consume content and information that
motivates you that that pushes you that
challenges you in some way that could be
watching videos like what you're doing
right now okay that could be reading
books that could be you know investing
in training programs or going to
seminars or events in putting yourself
in experiences like that that can really
light a fire under your ass and give you
that motivation you know I've been to
different seminars again and again and
again and you know I've used them at
different moments of my life to give
myself a huge boost an example of this
is you know I remember back in 2012 I
was in a fitness competition and I just
really you know it's a big goal for me
at the time and I really wanted this
extra boost to motivate I was already
fairly motivated I just wanted to be
unstoppable I wanted to make sure my
beliefs my mind said everything was
aligned with that I was struggling a
little bit I think was my eating at the
time the consistency around it so I
really wanted to get a boost with that
and what I decided to do was I went to a
seminar that had already been to several
times before that gave me a lot of
motivation and I just knew it would just
light a fire under my ass and really get
me going for achieving this goal and the
seminar was a Tony Robbins seminar at
least the power within and so I flew all
the way to New Jersey to go to the
seminar and man I playful oh and that
someone are actually helped me achieve
that goal it just gave me a lot of
motivation at that time and I think also
another point when I was really focused
on my fitness competition
I started picking up books about fitness
that could just motivate me even further
I started watching YouTube videos about
fitness I invest in different training
programs and online video courses just
tojust to spend you know time every day
just looking at that and visualizing it
and seeing and feeding my mind with that
just support it in the headspace even
though a lot of the information wasn't
that relevant for me it was just putting
myself in that mind space so if you want
to build your business read a lot of
business books read biographies about
Richard Branson and Sam Walton and Elon
Musk and Steve Jobs and these incredible
people who have achieved so much because
you know that will motivate you that
will get you excited right or you know
find training programs or online courses
that can also help you too and of course
YouTube videos and podcasts interviews
all those things are great so I don't
think there's anything wrong at you know
oftentimes people said you don't want to
be dependent on external things for
motivation and that's somewhat true but
at times you're going to need to at
times you're going to add need to give
yourself that boost when you really need
it and you know it can be helpful to be
able to use resources like that now the
other tip that I have the other way is
to get a mentor get a coach or get an
accountability buddy or mastermind okay
surrounding yourself with other people
that are motivated is going to have a
huge impact on you other people that
have high standards other people that
are achieving great things that are
taking action they're making progress
being around that is really really
powerful and I know for myself whenever
I go to masterminds or hang out some
friends that I have I always I always
just leave really inspired I always
leave really motivated by what they're
up to what they're doing and you know
oftentimes I get some good advice from
them that really excites me or they
share something with me or ask for some
input or feedback and I share it my mind
starts racing I get super stoked about
it I just can't wait to start
implementing that and taking action with
it so your environment is powerful your
environment can really motivate you in
so many ways to move forward and
sometimes you might have to hire a coach
I've got many coaches in my life and
many that have hired Rhodey
even times I had no money I still found
a coach that I could hire and work with
other times it's get an accountability
buddy although what I think is better
than the county accountability buddy is
actually a trio at least three people
because it's challenged with an
accountability buddy was just two of you
is that often times if you're not
following through if you're not living
at a high standard then you're not going
to call out the other person as much and
vice versa so at least having more than
two people I found any more beneficial
and today you can find so many people
online that you can do Skype calls with
you know if you're part of any my
programs and my Facebook groups you know
we've got awesome communities through my
courses of people that are looking for
accountability buddies that you could
just post a message in the Facebook
group and you'll be able to find a few
people that are also going through the
same program as you they can also
partner up and share the journey
together and I found one thing that's
helpful for that too is you know when
you when you have someone else that you
can be accountable to right so by you
declaring to them your goals what you're
committing to or even do a Facebook
group when you do that and you commit
you declare this is what I'm committed
to you there's an incredible power that
happens that motivates you just like
that you know that's one of the reasons
why I still do my monthly goals reports
and I share my goals every year is
because it forces me to be accountable
to a large amount of people I can't just
be accountable to myself only
accountable to myself I can easily back
out I can easily change my mind I can
easily say all notable no there's no
consequence if I change my mind I don't
do it but by me sharing it publicly or
sharing it with a group of people that I
respect it forces me to really step up
and move forward with it so the
accountability aspect of that is very
very powerful that's also why in a lot
of my courses I make people post in the
Facebook group and share their goals
share your goals with the group so that
we can help each other achieve them and
be accountable and I found that could be
incredible motivation for you as well
and then the last piece is I've already
mentioned which is um you know finding
way to love what you're doing and I
think you know part of that is initially
you might not enjoy it and it's just
like if it anything you know you have to
build the habits and the hardest part is
always at the beginning but once you get
past that beginning point that's when
you start to really in
that's where you get the momentum from
what you're doing and I think a key
thing is falling in love with the
process not the results because results
will come and go results are not
guaranteed you have no control over the
results you always have control over the
process so if you're trying to build
your business but your only motivation
is making money well there's no
guarantee that you're going to make
money and who knows how long it might
take you might take longer than what you
expected but if you fall in love the
process the process of creating content
the process of learning and creating and
you know setting up marketing funnels or
you know doing some of the things you
might be doing you enjoy that then it
will lead to the results in the same way
if you're only attached to the results
of you know trying to change your body
you want to lose weight you're so
attached to that well sometimes you
don't lose weight sometimes you gain
weight sometimes it takes time sometimes
you know it's lower than what you
expected but if you fall in love with
the process of going to the gym each day
or eating healthy foods you know and you
scale that pride that self-esteem the
confidence you get from that often times
you enjoy that you might not see the
results right away but they will come if
you're only attached to the results then
when you don't see them fast enough
that's when people give up they get
discouraged they lose their motivation
so fall in love with the process enjoy
what it is or to enjoy the journey of
what you're going through because you're
going to spend most of your time in the
journey anyways and you have a hundred
percent control over that that's why
when you see my goals when I post them
on my blog and YouTube channel I have
some result oriented goals but most of
them are processed goals the process
goals of publishing 250 videos I have a
hundred percent control over that making
two million dollars a year I don't
really have as much control over that I
have some influence over it but I have a
hundred percent control over how many
videos I publish what new courses that I
create promotions that I do the events
and seminars that they go to the
programs I invest in I have a hundred
percent control of all those things so I
focus on those and I know that by doing
it then it's going to bring me closer
towards the result than a matter which
is maybe two million dollars in a year
okay so that's a very important
distinction that I see a lot of people
that just get caught up in the results
not the process process is more
important than the results
okay so those are my five ways I
probably gave you guys a lot more than
that in this video
surprise my battery is still working
right now to be honest with you guys but
I'm going to wrap it up thank you guys
