Stefan James from project life mastery

and today I'm going to share with you

how I travel the world while running a

multi-million dollar per year online

business now I know many people that

follow me here on youtube or on

Instagram they're always asking me stuff

and how is it that you're able to travel

so much you might always notice that I'm

in a different part of the world if you

watch my youtube videos for the last

year and a half you probably noticed

that almost every video I'm in a

different environment two different

hotel room a different air B&B and you

might be wondering how is it that I'm

able to live this lifestyle to give you

an idea so far this year I've traveled

to over 14 countries I'll be over 16

countries by the end of this year I

travel a lot I'm a digital nomad which

means that as long as I have my laptop

as long as I have my phone or my camera

I can travel the world I can run and

operate my business from anywhere and

I've been very blessed to have created

this business so that's providing

millions of dollars for me in income now

it did not start that way it did not

happen overnight it's not like I found

some sort of get-rich-quick scheme on

line and then I snap my fingers and

press a few buttons and I created this

lifestyle that's not how this works this

took a lot of hard work a lot of

commitments a lot of investing in myself

and learning and growing and I want to

share with you a little bit about that

journey because I know many of you that

are watching this right now you're on

that journey yourself I know many people

that are watching this you're already

building your business they're already

committing yourself and learning you

might be in those early stages that I

was you know 10 years or so ago when I

was four starting my business and then I

also know some of you that are watching

this you haven't started yet and you

might be curious you might be wondering

about you know the possibilities that

exist today because of the internet the

Internet's changed the world that

revolutionized my life and providing

these opportunities and you might be

wondering you know is it possible can I

do this how can I do this and maybe by

me sharing my story with you here today

in this video I can inspire you and

provide some different avenues for you

to explore for yourself that if you

really want to change your life if you

want to quit your job if you want to

live the laptop lifestyle or create

financial freedom I can share with you a

bit about myself and my story and maybe

that can help you and your journey to

create whatever kind of lifestyle

you want for yourself now right now I'm

here in Koh Samui Thailand rented out

this incredible villa been here for the

last few weeks with Tatiana my fiancee

she's also got a successful online

business as well and great YouTube

channel called Tatiana James and the

crazy thing is you know it's my third

time here in Thailand and the first time

I was here was ten years ago I was 23

years old and the reason why I came to

Thailand is because I was first starting

my online business you know around that

time in my life about 10 years ago or so

I was dabbling with internet marketing I

read a book called the 4-hour workweek

by Tim Ferriss I know many of you guys

might have heard of a read that book as

well but I discovered this book and it

totally shifted my mindset because I was

conditioned my whole life to believe

that I had to go to school I had to get

a good job I had to you know find a good

nine-to-five and work hard for that job

and do so and trading my time for money

until a 65 years old and then eventually

I could retire and I could be free and

then I could really enjoy my life and

this book by Tim Ferriss really shifted

my mindset to believe that there's a

different way there's a different path

that I could create passive income I

didn't have to trade my time for money I

could create a business that is

automated and is making me money 24/7

and that would allow me to have true

financial freedom so that I could be

anywhere in the world I can you know

we're semi-retire if I wanted to and

still make money still be able to

support myself and its really shifted a

lot of things for me once I discovered

that once I read that book and discover

the 4-hour workweek I decided I had to

do whatever it took to figure out how to

build an online business I you know once

I knew that existed and I was at the

stage of my life I was trying to figure

out what I wanted to do with my life

nothing else was more attractive to me

to be honest than building an online

business and creating this because you

know I remember at the time as you know

should I go to university or college I

know many people are in that boat right

now you know if you're a youngster right

now should I do this or should I do that

but it didn't really inspire me once I

discovered that you could build this

online business and create freedom once

I discovered that it like going to

school getting a regular job that was

like Saudi motivating for me and so I

thought I decided you know I gotta find

a way I'm gonna do

ever take so I fully immersed myself in

learning about internet marketing I read

all the books I went to all the programs

and courses I bought almost everything

out there I found coaches and mentors I

went to seminars I mean I went all in on

this and it did not happen overnight

like I said in fact I went through a

period where I was struggling you know I

went through a period where I was you

know lazy I had a lot of limiting

beliefs that's holding me back I was

afraid to really go all-in with it I had

some doubts I had some insecurities that

I had to really overcome was afraid to

invest money into myself I went through

this phase and journey like that where

honestly I just kind of didn't take it

seriously enough and it wasn't till I

finally got to the point where I said to

myself you know what I've got to go

all-in on this I could have stopped the

dabbling I said I saw and recognized

what was stopping me and holding me back

from success and I decided you know what

I'm gonna go travel to Southeast Asia

I'm gonna go to Thailand and I actually

was inspired by a friend that we also

went to Thailand and I realized there's

actually fairly cheap to live in

Thailand and I could kind of get that

taste of the laptop lifestyle while

being there and I could really focus I

could you know go all in I have any

distractions like I did from back home

and I was you know able to support

myself for a few months save up some

money and just really go all-in on that

while traveling around Thailand and

that's what I did in fact I remember at

one point I was in the Beijing Airport

on a layover going to Bangkok and I'm

from Vancouver Canada so that's where I

came from and it was also the winter

time too I wanted to get away from the

rain and a cold and all that so Thailand

was perfect for me but I remember I had

my journal out and I was in the airport

and I was writing down I'm gonna make

$300 a month passive income in my online

business and if I don't make that then

I'm gonna stay here for however long it

takes for me to be able to create that

so I put so much pressure on myself

where I said to myself I'm not coming

back to Canada till I make that 300

bucks a month and I didn't know how I

was gonna do it but if you have a strong

enough why if you have a strong enough

purpose for doing something you figure

it out you find the way and that's what

I did so at the time I was kind of

dabbling around with a few different

things and one of the first ways I

started making money online what's

through affiliate marketing affiliate

marketing is a process of promoting

are people's products there you go

promoting other people's products and

you earn a commission from it and I

discovered this method of doing

affiliate marketing where I could find a

bunch of products that I wanted to be an

affiliate for they had affiliate

programs so for example some of them was

a confiding mix blender a Blendtec

blender these are like very expensive

blenders andr dollars a Fitbit if it was

like a new device that came out at the

time and it was like a an activity

tracker there's another one called the

body bug I don't even know if it's

around anymore but I found all these

little products at affiliate programs

and I realized that I could create these

little blogs these little websites and I

could create content on it and I can

learn search engine optimization where I

could optimize the content and these

blogs so that when people search for

these devices they're looking for

reviews of them and it can find my

articles my content they can come to my

blog and then on my blog it had

affiliate links where people click on

them and then head over buy the product

and either earn an affiliate commission

from that and you know it wasn't gonna

get me rich but I realized but if I had

a bunch of these website ups up up and

running and automated it and I can make

a couple hundred bucks for each website

that that could you know provide some

incredible income for me so I started

doing that and I you know started doing

doing pretty well and making some money

with it sure enough I did accomplish

that goal in Thailand I'm making 300

bucks a month which is pretty cool you

know being here when I did that now

being back ten years later but I was

able to make some money doing that and

then what happened was Google changed

their algorithms you know for basically

you know basically what they changed was

they no longer were ranking these

websites they're really small little

websites because my blogs had like five

or ten articles on it they instead

changed their algorithm where they're

now trying to rank websites that were

more authoritative websites websites

that had more credibility to add more

content on it they weren't just these

little small blogs that I was doing

before nose kind of based on this little

tactic and technique that I learned that

worked for the moment but didn't last

and so my whole business was wiped out I

lost all the money that I was making and

I went back to the drawing board and

after that I actually got into

publishing books I learned that you

could publish ebooks and people are

looking to buy books that could help

them solve their problems and I

discovered Kindle

Publishing the fact that you could

publish a book on Amazon Amazon has a

platform called Kindle KDP Kindle direct

publishing published a book on Amazon

and Amazon similar to ranking in Google

you could rank your books on Amazon

which is a search engine accept Amazon

is a buyer search engine people go to

Amazon to buy stuff people go to Google

they're looking for free information

mostly but on Amazon they've already got

their credit card and they're looking to

buy and so I realized I could write

these books and publish them on Amazon

and I could make some money doing that

and then the more books that I publish

the more money that I can make so I did

that and I started publishing Kindle

books so then paperback books so then

audiobooks and then I realized that I

didn't have to write the books myself I

could actually hire ghost writers to

write them for me and instead I could

focus on being a publisher building a

publishing company and a marketing

company and I could you know I didn't

have to write the books but I could

focus on publishing and marketing them

similar to you know these big publishing

houses like HarperCollins and Simon and

Schuster and this big you know Penguin

Books they're publishing companies they

work with authors and ghost writers and

they handle the publishing and marketing

so I started doing that and that was

really my big break online where all the

sudden has making you know eight

thousand nine thousand ten thousand

dollars a month and at this stage I was

around twenty four years old and that

totally changed my life guys it really

did I mean first I want to say actually

make my first money online like the

first hundred bucks 300 bucks when I

achieve that goal in Thailand that blew

my mind and it wasn't really the money

the money was nice the money you know

could help me pay my bills a little bit

more but really what changed things for

me was the belief system of what was

possible because now all of a sudden you

know this thing that I had read about in

a book and that I heard about and saw

other people living now that I got an

experience of it where I made some money

myself it validated this is real this is

possible and it made my mind think if I

can do this then what else is possible

if I can make 300 bucks in a month and I

can make 500 then I could make a

thousand five thousand eight thousand

and it really shifted my mindset and

then actually motivated me even more

just to go deeper with it and really go

all-in and so when I really started

publishing books and ramping it up even

though I had some failures and

challenges along the way again it wasn't

just I'm giving you the

short version of this but the books blew

my mind

we're all of a sudden is in a position

where I didn't have to work anymore you

know I kind of semi-retired for a little

bit because I thought what I wanted was

just to you know have passive income and

be financially free where I never had to

work again and I enjoyed that for a few

months to be honest but I didn't I

wasn't fulfilled I wasn't really happy

and what happened for me then was I sort

of asked myself the question Stefan if

money wasn't a factor really what would

I do with my life that if I didn't need

the money what is my purpose what is my

passion what would I want to give what

would I want to contribute what would I

want my legacy to be and when I asked

myself those questions from a place of

abundance now versus scarcity because

before I was in a desperate point of my

life where now is in a position of

abundance and I had more choice in

freedom I said you know my real passion

is self-development my real passion is

learning growing developing my life and

then sharing what I learned with other

people so that when you share it it

comes back to you and you feel so good

and fulfilled because they're helping

other people as well being a giver being

a force for good in this world and so

that's what I realized that I needed to

start my own website my own channel

I started project life mastery this is

back in 2012 was 25 years old at this

stage and project life mastery I decided

is this going to be a YouTube channel

and a blog eventually later became a

podcast as well where I was just gonna

share my goals you know share what I'm

committed to my life share on how I'm

improving each other in my life share

what I'm learning with other people so

that maybe they could benefit from it as

well you know sharing you know sharing

how to build a business eventually is

what it kind of turned into as well

because what happened was I started

putting out YouTube videos and putting

up content on a blog people found it and

then follow me and they'd ask me

questions stuff and how is it that

you're making money online how is it

you're doing this and that and

eventually I started teaching that to

other people I started I started

actually teaching people how to publish

books on Amazon and I was doing

one-on-one coaching at first helped

people have great success with that and

then eventually I created a course that

would teach people step-by-step how to

publish books and how to make money

doing that and then I realized also

through project life mastery you know

there's all these great things that I

was buying for myself and learning and

growing in my life

that I saw these affiliate opportunities

where I could share the things that have

benefited me with other people so I come

across a great course and it really made

a difference in my life

and then they had an affiliate program

so it shirts my audience and then other

people would buy it and benefit from it

and then I can earn a commission from

that so you know essentially project

life mastery what happened was I started

making money in different ways you know

I started making money from doing

affiliate marketing and then creating my

own courses and training programs

helping other people I started doing

some coaching and some mastermind events

where you know people would come out and

spend some time with myself and had

coached them and helped them build their

business and give them feedback on it

you know eventually I also started doing

I was doing books as well actually on

project life mastery where I published

in my own book so then some of these

other books I published on Amazon a lot

of them were self-development books I

realized those books I could link in

those books to my website and also the

books that I was you know selling on

Amazon there's opportunities for me to

do affiliate marketing with that too

because a lot of people that were buying

these books on these certain topics they

wanted more once they read the book they

wanted more information they wanted more

in-depth training that I could then

provide for them by promoting other

people's stuffs as an affiliate and

earning commissions from that too so you

know I started making money in all these

different ways which is kind of cool and

it became so much easier and faster once

I was doing it around my passion and

what I really loved now 2014 what

happened was I discovered that really

the big opportunity on Amazon is

actually selling physical products

building a brand and selling products on

Amazon because you know you could

publish books and that's a great way to

start but you know you're not gonna make

much money selling books because the

royalties you get are less than ten

dollars versus you know if you can

actually sell physical products and

build a brand you can make much higher

profits and there's much more of a

market on Amazon for physical products

than there are for books and so then I

was trying to figure out how to do that

and I was really looking to build

multiple streams of income in my

business because I learned the lesson

the hard way back when I started not to

depend on one platform or one stream of

income you know if you remember my story

I shared with you how Google changed

their algorithm and it wiped out my

business I had to start from scratch

so I wanted to create multiple streams

of income so I wasn't dependent this on

one platform or one stream so myself and

actually my fiancee Tatiana at the time

we started getting to selling on Amazon

we bought a course called the amazing

selling machine which taught us how to

do it and I launched the supplement

brand on Amazon had some great success

with that for a few years eventually got

out of that business and now in a

position where I started partnering with

other e-commerce businesses and brands

because eventually I got to a point it

was just too much to manage at all and I

could instead just partner with other

people and offer my expertise and my

knowledge and be an investor and working

smarter than having do the nitty-gritty

stuff like I did at the beginning and so

got into that so so you know it's a long

story but hopefully you're seeing by now

I mean my story started just with one

strategy

okay just really what it started the

hunger the desire the commitment the why

the purpose and then finding the

strategies that can help me and then

making money from that and then slowly

growing and transitioning into other

opportunities that existed as well and

Here I am today 33 years old now and

I've built an incredible business and

I'm proud of and I make money you know

in a variety different ways from

affiliate marketing to my own courses

and training programs to YouTube ad

revenue that I make when people watch my

youtube videos to I've done drop

shipping I still do drop shipping in

fact I also do print on demand I've got

you know a merchandise brand as well

physical products and e-commerce

businesses I'm also an investor so I do

invest got a big portfolio that I invest

in the stock market a lot of dividend

paying stocks a lot of different things

that I've done coaching consulting

mastermind events a lot of things a lot

of different aspects of my business

including books still as well and you

know really what I want to share with

you is what's possible you know this

journey guys that was not easy it's

incredibly challenging there's a lot of

ups and downs there's a lot of failures

I lost money so many times and you know

by watching this 20 minute or so video

you might think that it's easy or you

know it's easier as fast or something

like that it's not the case you know

maybe for some people it is but I know

for me it wasn't for me it was a

struggle especially at the beginning but

what kept me going

was just the belief in the faith of what

was possible I always knew that you know

I was gonna find the way that's gonna

figure it out I believe that if you're

committed enough to something you find

the way or you make the way and today

there's more and more examples there's

more and more opportunities as more and

more possibilities in fact today's

easier than has ever been before guys it

really is I mean when I look back when I

started and I had to create some of

these blogs and websites so so much

harder back then there was little you

know tricks and loopholes and stuff like

that but though all those clothes and

they didn't work they weren't

sustainable and really what I learned

you know when I start a project like

mastery because before when I first

start us quitting his little thin

websites and looking for tactics when I

shifting my mindset to building some

something a legitimate a legitimate

business an authoritative website a

brand putting myself out there

connecting with people trying to serve

people trying to add value trying to

help when I made that my mindset and

that my mission everything else followed

from then you know my caring and my

passion I think have been some of my

greatest attributes that helped me be

successful because if you really care

about people and you want to serve and

help them you'll go through the training

is the knowledge you'll find the answers

and you'll do the best you can to do

that and communicate and create products

and services that can truly serve and

when you have a passion for something

that's infectious and contagious to

everyone else so for me you know guys

this has really changed my life I think

this has been the greatest opportunity

that has existed in my life but also for

so many people as well

the fact that anyone can do this from

almost anywhere in the world and as long

as you have an internet connection you

can build a business you can start

creating content you can start you know

selling on Amazon there's so many

different paths that you can take and

opportunities but really what it comes

down to is just committing yourself and

saying you know what I'm gonna do

whatever it takes and so I'm so blessed

to be able to travel the way that I do

now and experience would have

experienced 10 years ago guys I mean

staying a little guest houses in

Thailand and hostels and struggling

financially to now today renting out

this incredible villa it's pretty

amazing how your life can change so

hopefully this can inspire you guys

hopefully can motivate you guys that if

you're on this journey don't give up

keep going keep learning keep studying

you know sometimes you could be so close

and people give up you never know the

next opportunity the next action the

next idea the next insight just you know

really taking that action can change

everything for you I'm so grateful that

I didn't give up and then if you're

more but at a certain point you got to

commit a certain point you got to do

what I did and so you know I'm all-in

I'm gonna figure it out I don't know how

but I'm gonna commit I'm gonna study I'm

really go for it and you know you're

gonna learn so much to this journey and

it's all gonna be worth it I can promise

you that I'm so grateful I look back and

I remember the hard times and today I'm

like you know it was so worth it because

yes you might have to sacrifice at the

beginning you might have to put in work

put in money at the beginning to learn

this but once you do you can live the

rest of your life free and that's a

small price to pay to have freedom for

the rest of your life so you can do what

you want when you want whenever you want

with whomever you want
