to day I'm going to share with you how
much it costs for you to get started
with affiliate marketing so if you're
watching this right now and you want to
build your own online business with
affiliate marketing you want to make
money online with affiliate marketing
I'm gonna break down in this video all
the costs associated with it so that you
can be in the clear of that and you can
get started the easiest and fastest way
possible now what is affiliate marketing
if you don't know then I often define it
as the process of you earning a
commission by promoting someone else's
product or service so many companies and
products and services they have their
own affiliate program which you can join
they're free to join you can join them
you get an affiliate link from them you
use that link in your marketing so when
someone clicks on that affiliate link
and they go and they purchase that
product or service you automatically
earn an affiliate commission from that
now why were the companies give you a
commission well they're trying to
incentivize you to promote their product
because they you're saving them the
money on marketing the product by you
getting them customers and sales they'll
give you a commission from it so it's a
win-win for the company the company wins
because they now get a customer they
wouldn't normally have it's a win for
you because now you get a earn an
affiliate Commission you get to make
money from it and it's also a win for
the customer because they're now
benefiting from a new product that they
might not have known before so I always
called a win-win-win and I love
affiliate marketing because I'm always
improving myself I'm always growing I'm
always investing in myself and I come
services that truly benefit my life that
I feel it's my moral obligation to share
that with other people and to pay it
forward and I can also earn a commission
from that as someone decides to purchase
that product through me so affiliate
marketing is great now how much does it
cost well to get started with affiliate
marketing wait a minute
it actually doesn't cost anything I
almost forgot you know if you actually
think about it getting started with
affiliate marketing I mean the affiliate
programs are free to join right you
don't have to pay money for that there
might be some that you have to pay for
but for the most part 99% that I come
across are free and then if you want to
use something like YouTube which is what
I use right now
YouTube doesn't cost any money Facebook
doesn't cost any money Google doesn't
cost any money
Instagram doesn't cost any money so
these are platforms available for you
that you can create content attract
people and then in your description in
your Facebook post in your Instagram
story you could have your affiliate link
and promote that product and earn money
from it so technically it actually does
not cost anything to get started but is
that the most ideal way to get started I
mean for some if you're you have no
money whatsoever sure you could just
create a YouTube channel create a
podcast put put content out there and
leverage the free platforms that are
available for you make money from that
however I always like to build a
business and recommend to people to
build a business a smart way and to make
it easier for yourself it's hard enough
to build a business let's make it a
little bit easier for you and naturally
what money can do money can make the
process easier faster smoother and
that's why a lot of people that are dead
broke with no money I often tell people
wait a minute before you start your
business maybe you should actually get a
job first you should get some money get
some finances in your life save a little
bit of that and then actually have a bit
of money to invest to start at the right
way started easier way and to set
yourself up to win and most often that's
gonna be easier and faster than trying
to do do it the hard way so that's one
thing I'd recommend but there are
expenses that are involved if you want
to do it the right way the right way of
how I define it a way that I've done it
with my business if you want to model me
and do a similar thing but technically
you know what you could just have a
YouTube channel and have a link in the
description know that's free to do that
so I want to put that out there and just
gonna remind you it actually does not
cost anything and that's one of the
biggest benefits of a business like this
because you got to remember that as an
affiliate marketer you're doing the easy
work the hard work is actually inventing
a product creating a product investing
the money the time to create a product
which takes months or even years to be
able to do and then create the website
and the sales page and the sales copy
and deliver the product and then have
the members area or ship the product or
the inventory or the customer support
and this like all the things that these
companies have to do we don't have to do
as an affiliate marketer because our job
as an affiliate marketer is just to send
traffic through our affiliate link to
promote and share that product and then
the company duce does everything else
for you so the company is the one that
has all the expenses they have all the
overhead all the the logistics and
complexities of actually running the
business affiliate marketing you don't
need to have a team you don't need to
have much expenses involved and that's
what I'm gonna share with you so how
would I do it what are expenses that I
believe that you will need okay first
one the first one is a domain name okay
cuz I believe that really what's going
to give you longevity with affiliate
marketing and make it the most easy and
effective way for you is by building a
brand
okay building a brand because online
with any product they are promoting or
sharing building trust and relationship
with people is one of those valuable
things it's one of the most valuable
commodities that you can have in an
internet business if you have followers
if you have raving fans if you have
people that like know and trust you
they're much more likely to buy whatever
it is that you're selling or promoting
so a domain name and building your own
website your own blog is gonna help
establish you who you are in this niche
in this market okay and of course you've
got to identify what's the nation market
you want to build your business in maybe
it's in health maybe it's in wealth
maybe it's in relationships maybe it's
in some sort of niche that you have an
interest or passion for that you're
gonna want to create content around and
build your brand around it so a domain
name I think is something that everybody
needs having your own little piece of
real estate on the internet your own
website okay a domain name how much does
that cost well if you go to GoDaddy calm
it's it's what it's ten dollars per year
okay so it's hardly anything so don't
meet you know GoDaddy calm could be a
web site you can go to for that it cost
a little bit more of course if you want
to get privacy or something like that
maybe twenty dollars a year but for the
most part a domain name is pretty
insignificant
and you know you might be wondering well
do I build my my brand's around myself
or frown or have a separate name for a
separate entity you know for me for
example I have Stefan James comm but I
also have project life mastery comm well
it really depends on what your long-term
goals are you know for me if project
life mastery I have a bigger vision
where maybe one day I could sell the
business or I could bring in other
influencers or coaches and I don't have
to have the business just dependent on
me so it gives me more flexibility
around that and it's also a name that
people can recognize and remember and
know what it is not everyone when they
see Stefan James are gonna know who I am
it takes time to build that up but
project life mastery when you hear or
see those words for the most part people
know what that is Owen this must be
about life mastery salt development it's
very clear which avoids confusion which
is something you always want to make
sure you do when it comes to your
branding so a domain name would be one
thing you can go to godaddy.com for that
you can go to namecheap.com for that
there's places you can get your own
domain name the next thing would be web
hosting okay so you got to host your
website you get a host your blog now
that costs what well if you're gonna use
Bluehost which is what I often recommend
for beginners it's three dollars ninety
five cents per month okay now can cost a
little bit more than that if you want
some additional things but for the most
part four bucks a month
hardly anything I mean it's a cup of cup
of coffee coffee every month so it's a
pretty low expense to be able to do it
some cases you know ten dollars a month
not unless you actually have a big
website and a brand like myself I use
today something called WP engine which
is super expensive I think you pay like
over a thousand dollars a month for my
website hosting so I get a lot of
traffic of course but starting out
Bluehost is great for that I'll link
below to Bluehost and GoDaddy and all
that for you and Bluehost actually gives
you a free domain name as well I think
for the first year so they have a
special where they give you a free
domain name when you sign up through
them so this will give you now the
ability to create a blog a web
now what I often use and install for my
hosting is something called WordPress
I'll write somebody's down for you
WordPress is free okay it's basically a
framework that you can use and install
on this and it gives you the ability to
get free themes and templates you can
have your blog or website you can
publish blog posts and the content pages
all of that you can do under WordPress
so WordPress is great that's what a lot
of the biggest companies and websites in
the world all use WordPress so now
you've got that now another thing I'd
recommend if you are gonna create your
own website it would be a logo how much
does that cost I mean you can get a logo
for ten dollars by going to a website
like fiverr.com okay and you can easily
find logo designers there now I like to
spend a little bit on the look a little
bit more on a logo I mean you get what
you pay for right usually for me if I go
to fiverr.com you can actually get it
for as low as $5 but if I go to
fiverr.com I like to order it from three
different people so I might spend 30
bucks and I'll order from this person
that person that person I like I like
each of them because I want to see what
concept they'll come up with so person a
gives me a logo person B gives me a logo
person C gives me a logo and I get a pic
hey you know I really like person B
person B they did a much better job than
everyone else that's the logo I'm gonna
go with now if you want to spend more
money of course you can you can on this
and get a really great designer I like
to use something called 99designs that
gives you the ability to host a contest
and get tons of designers to submit
their logos and whatnot you've got to
pick which one you want but that can
cost a couple hundred bucks I think
around three hundred dollars to do a
contest with them I've spent in some
cases over a thousand dollars on a logo
but do you really need that to start no
you could start with a cheap logo for
now and then build up as you go as you
make money you can always reinvest back
into these things and I often believe
when you're starting your business to be
cost-efficient Casta ficient as much as
possible to save money you don't need to
put money into a lot of unnecessary
expenses at first that really aren't
going to make a difference your logo
isn't going to make that much of a
difference
not unless you get thousands of visitors
in traffic in which case if you're
getting that you should have the money
to invest in a better one and improve it
as you go okay so this will give you the
ability to have a website your logo also
is going to help you if you create your
YouTube channel your Facebook page or
Instagram page your Twitter page all of
that because now you have a logo
branding that people that you could have
right that you can have there if you're
building a personal brand maybe you're
not doing a company brand and at least
maybe getting some great photos of
yourself if you are going to be a
personal brand and put yourself out
there in that way professional photos
whether that's what the photographer or
grabbing your friend and taking some
great photos on an iPhone or something
like that that can increase your
branding if you are the brand to make
you look professional and credible and
all of that so whether it is a logo or
whether it's you it is worth investing
in to get some great photos or at least
a logo you can put up on your social
pages for that okay so I recommend
having this okay and and if you have a
blog you can do that to WordPress and
put up some content put up some articles
you write it yourself if you did want to
hire someone you could do that but for
the most part i always recommend
creating your own content especially at
the beginning to be more cost efficient
now let's move on to a few more things
that I'd recommend
so another tool that I'd recommend for
you would be something known as
clickfunnels clickfunnels is going to
give you the ability to build to build a
funnel like a landing page or an opt-in
page where you can collect people's
email addresses so you could create
content on a blog you can create content
on a YouTube channel on a Facebook page
on a podcast all of those things you
could put out content out there that's
what attracts people to you right they
consume the content they find it to
searching they attract them to them to
you you could through that content just
link through your affiliate link to
promote someone else's product but if
you do that you've got to understand
most people that consume your content
most people that go to your youtube
channel your Facebook page or your
website or whatever it is most people
will never come back that's the reality
of it I mean if you think about any
store that you walk into you know you're
walking down the street you're going
through the mall you walk in a store the
moment you leave the chances of you
going back to that star store are very
rare not unless you are a frequent you
know consumer of that store so it's the
same thing online you have your real
estate online your website your videos
your pages and content very few people
ever come back and so that's why it's
always your goal to make sure that you
can get that person's information their
contact information which gives you the
ability to follow up with that person
and build a relationship a long-term
relationship you're not in this for a
one-night stand okay one-night stand is
you know they consume your content they
might buy but then you miss out on the
long-term relationship the long-term
value of that customer okay so I'm
always in it for the long term so what
you want to do is you want to build a
funnel okay a funnel you you know if you
click below in my description I always
linked to my funnels below because
that's the number one goal is to get you
to go through my funnel which is
basically a series of pages that lead to
a sale or a customer so for example a
simple funnel is just having a page
where you offer something for free and
someone puts in their name and email
address and now they're on your email
list okay and that you can send them
emails over time and build a
relationship with them or they yeah or
you can you know get people of course
the
follow you on Facebook or YouTube or
Instagram the challenge with those
platforms is they limit the reach so
it's hard to reach all those followers
versus the email list gives you the
ability to reach a lot a lot more of
them so clickfunnels is great for this
it's basically a drag-and-drop builder
to help you put together your funnels
it's what I use in my business is great
does cost a bit of money $97 a month
that might seem like a lot but honestly
the the benefits it provides for you is
incredible so I highly highly recommend
click funnels for it you could
technically you know do it on WordPress
as well but is this gonna be a lot
harder
I think click funnels just makes things
so much easier and better for you so
click funnels is is great you could
build a website on click funnels too by
the way but it's not really designed for
that I mean if you're creating a website
you want to do a to wordpress and
wordpress it will make it easier for you
to do search engine optimization the
site speed will be faster you'll have
more control over different plugins and
themes there are websites like Wix calm
and Weebly but that's not really for
intermediate or advanced marketers
that's more for beginners you pay every
month for those and they're not they
don't give you a lot of customization a
lot of options so that's why I always
prefer WordPress and click funnels for
creating funnels just makes it really
great and easy so click funnels that's
great they actually even have marketing
funnels that you can use that are free
or that you can pay for as well and it
makes it really easy for you to put
together that so this is more geared
towards the cafee Liat marketing and
building a funnel now you've got to link
your funnel page with something to
collect the email addresses okay what I
use for that and what I recommend is
Aweber okay Aweber missed the be a Weber
com I'll link to those below in the
description for you but a weber is great
because you can link that with click
funnels you could even link it with your
website but you're gonna need something
like this to collect email addresses so
aweber gives you the ability to build
your email list you log in you can send
a broadcast email to all those that are
on your list so if you want to promote a
product or share your latest content you
could do that through your email list in
Aweber you could also build an
autoresponder series so that when
someone goes through the funnel they are
dan put in their name and email now
they're on a series of emails that
you've already pre written in advance
that they go through and they
automatically get an email from you
every few days so it's all automated and
you can do that to build a relationship
with them over time the long term is
where the value is I've been for example
just through project life mastery over
seven and a half years I've had people
that because they're on my email list
they've bought from me multiple times
they bought products from me years ago
today latest products or things I
promote and that increases the overall
customer value because I built that
raving fan relationship with them some
people they're all my email list five
years ago they never bought anything
till yesterday you know so you never
know how that works but because I kept
building value in relationship for them
and I eventually had something they were
interested in then they end up becoming
a customer so the email you know often
the common phrase and marketing is that
the money is in the list the money is in
the list because that's what allows you
as a marketer to send an email and make
money just like that to send an email
promote something that your affiliate
link and immediately make money and it
becomes like an ATM machine in some
cases but you got to nurture the list
and build it up and cultivate it now
these are the the main expenses that I
think would be involved that I would
recommend for anyone at least the way
that I teach affiliate marketing now
these would all be optional I mean you
could not even have a website if you
didn't want it if you want it to for
example to focus on YouTube or a podcast
or Instagram you could do that but I
just think a website it's gonna help you
more long term it's a long term play but
you don't need it to get started but I
would recommend at least having those I
mean click funnels and Aweber I think
that you're are gonna need to build a
list there might be cheaper options and
click funnels but there's not going to
be as good and I would just always
recommend the best and click funnels is
that an a weber is great for that too so
also you got to keep in mind some email
service providers ok ESP is like Aweber
and some of them don't allow a filthy
marketing some of them look down on it
like MailChimp for example even though
it might be cheaper you can actually get
your account terminated because they
don't like affiliate marketing so you
got to be aware of that too so these
would be the main ones that I'd start
with ok and this and this is what this
is a hundred bucks
20 bucks per month that's a one-time
expense so 134 144 this is like $1 per
month $135 per month okay so that's a
little bit over maybe to $1,500 a year
I mean think of how inexpensive that is
to run and operate a business I can't
think of many businesses that are
cheaper to start than this right I mean
other businesses out there an Amazon
business of course there's money and
inventory and everything versus this
business you don't have to have any
inventory and the great thing about this
business too is that you get pure
profits for the most part I mean there's
not much overhead involved and you're
promoting and sharing these products you
don't have to have a team you don't have
to have a staff a lot of those things
you don't need now there are other
things of course that are optional that
if you wanted to do it you could okay if
you really wanted to scale it even
further great you could absolutely do
that so let me share a few of the things
that I'd say would be more optional that
I would consider this might be just more
the beginner starting cost these are
things that you might want to consider
investing in long term these are things
that I use regularly in my business and
I think one thing I should mention it
really depends also what direction you
want to go like some people they want to
do a YouTube channel others don't want
to do that some people just want to do a
blog and they enjoy writing content
other people they just want to do a
podcast some people want to use Facebook
or Instagram so you've got to get clear
on what you're gonna use to market your
business and get traffic and promote I
use all of them in my business but you
don't have to yourself I actually have a
course affiliate marketing master it
goes into all the different ways that I
do this if you're interested I'll link
to that below for you but here are some
things that I use so let's say you want
to do a YouTube channel like myself
really you know I started my youtube
channel with like a little crappy
digital camera okay like it was really a
piece of garbage it was actually not
even made for video really owes more for
pictures but I just had a video option I
did not have a quality mic I did not
have a tripod
I literally just put it on a stack of
books back in 2012 you can see my videos
back then stack of books and that was
that that's all I used so most often if
you're doing YouTube I recommend it for
people
start with whatever you have most
computers have webcams built-in most
phones have a camera and I still record
videos on my phone I use the iPhone but
this quality is great today it's a lot
better than what I had when I started
and the most important thing you got to
remember is not the quality it's you
it's your content it's how you speak
it's how you communicate that's what's
gonna matter the most I could deal with
my videos in a much crappier camera than
what I use and it might make like the
five to ten percent difference it's not
going to make that much of a difference
as much as you think but a camera can be
worth investing in now the camera that I
use is not I you know you don't need to
use something like what I'm using
oops is known as the Panasonic gh4
that's what I'm recording this on right
now now this camera is a bit more
expensive I looked it up on Amazon today
2200 bucks is what it cost with the lens
the lens is you know mostly one of the
more expensive parts of it but do you
need to spend that on a camera no I did
not start with this camera I started you
know I think my first DSLR was a Canon
t3i right and you could buy second-hand
cameras use cameras you don't need to
have a camera like what I have but
there's many that are cheaper and like I
said even little digital cameras that
are available today are incredible
quality so I think a camera can be great
if you are going to invest in YouTube
and you wanted to have you want to have
better quality content than a great
camera can help now you can either use
the built-in mic on the camera which I
avoid using usually it's not that good
or you can use a lavalier which is what
I've got right here a lapel mic what I
use for that is it's called I can't even
spell it but this is known as the sine
Howser II W 100 okay sine hi sorry W 100
ah I got a resource page on my website
project like master comm / resources
that go into more resources as well but
I'll look that up today on Amazon it's
about 600 bucks okay it's gonna give you
this quality that you can hear right now
it's great mic now let's say you don't
want to do YouTube you
want to do camera that's fine you can
instead do let's say you want to do a
podcast well what are the expenses of
that you would need a mic and what I use
for that is known as the Yeti blue
microphone and I looked this up today on
Amazon is only 120 dollars so the Yeti
blue mic is great for doing a podcast
and you also need hosting for the
podcast as well so what I use for that
is something called buzzsprout I'm not
sure if you guys can see this or not
just say barely plus my writing sucks
it's ok sorry it's actually twelve
dollars a month 12 dollars a month ok
that's what it costs for hosting for a
podcast so bus produce great for that
too
the other optional things might be you
know Facebook ads you know if you wanted
to build your list faster and pay for
traffic right you could pay influencers
out there to promote you there's options
like that of course but those are
optional I mostly focus on making money
just from these assets right here and
primarily this is how I built my
business I haven't really spent much
money on advertising until this year and
I've been doing project life mastery and
affiliate marketing for I mean project
like master for seven and a half years
but affiliate marketing even years
before that so don't think that it needs
to cost a lot of money money can help
you accelerate things go faster make
things easier yes you could hire people
to help help you put out videos content
faster to take over things for you yes
you could do that but for the most part
you don't need that to get to a couple
thousand dollars a month this right here
I think is more than enough to make even
a hundred thousand dollars a year you
know even a good six-figure income I
think you can make just with these
assets right here alone okay so the
other thing is don't think that you need
to have everything to get started this
is what I'd recommend for most to get
started I'll link those below for you

be the best ones and the expenses that
are involved in starting this business
