hey this is stefan from
projectlifemastery.com and we're back
again I'm being joined by my beautiful
girlfriend Tatiana for yet another
interview where she's gonna share with
you guys a little bit more about her
experience her journey her success
selling on Amazon ecommerce building her
where it is today many of you guys might
have saw the original interview that we
did on YouTube that has gone viral since
we'd since we did that over
two-and-a-half million views at the time
we're filming this and it just keeps
growing every single day and we had no
idea that video would do as well as it
did and since then we've got such an
amazing reaction and response from so
many people thanking us and being
inspired and started their own business
so we thought we'll get together and do
another video for you guys and you know
pick her brain a little bit more and
we've got some of her own products here
that she's gonna share with you guys of
her first product or second product or
third product that she is now launched
and selling on Amazon I'm gonna share
with you guys some of my products and
also address a lot of the questions that
many of you guys have reached out to us
and asked as well if you haven't seen
that original interview I highly
recommend you guys check it out I'll
make sure I'll link to that original
video for you guys to learn a little bit
more about her story but maybe you start
off just by sharing with people yet
again a little bit about yourself and
how you got started just for those that
haven't watched that original video sure
alright so I started an online business
because I was working at a job and I was
you know working the usual nine-to-five
and I was attending school full-time in
University and I just didn't have that
much freedom and the only reason that I
really felt like I didn't have a lot of
freedom with my time is because I
started dating Stephan and Stephan as we
know he he works from his laptop so he
can travel and he can bring his laptop
wherever he wants and work wherever he
wants and and he just decides when he
wants to work and when he doesn't want
to work and so as I was dating him you
know he wanted to hang out I was busy or
traveling it just couldn't happen
because I only got two weeks off every
year for my vacation time and it just it
wasn't really working very fluidly and I
didn't want to start
online business because I felt like I
don't have the skills like I just didn't
even know really that you could you know
it was like a viable career path and an
opportunity right cuz you're just in the
mindset of like go to school get a job
right because they would I almost had
blinders on because I think that if you
don't really open yourself up to knowing
what's possible online it's easy to just
dismiss it and not even notice what is
going on and for me it was just like you
know finish school get a great job and
just do that for the rest of your life
and there's nothing wrong with that I
don't think there's anything wrong that
at all
but I just didn't know what other
options there were out there and so when
Stephan brought the idea of starting an
online business to me it sounded kind of
interesting but I still wasn't really
interested in it because I felt like you
needed to really know your tech you
needed to know how to use a lot of
technology and you needed to know you
know how to build a website and just all
of these things that I just I knew I
just didn't have the skills and so I
wasn't that interested but nonetheless I
decided okay I'm gonna start to try a
few different paths and there's so many
different ways that you can make money
online so many different business models
and different routes that you can take
and so I tried a few different things
and I did it for a while and I started
to make some money which is pretty
interesting but I really wasn't
passionate about it and I you know when
you're starting a business and you're
you know say you're busy you go to
school then you go to work and then
after work you have to put in the extra
hours into that business I feel like you
do need to have some degree of passion
to actually do that because it does take
a lot of willpower to go after your job
and sit there on the computer and undo
work more and work and I just wasn't
really motivated and I wasn't that
excited about it so long story short
eventually we found this course called
the amazing selling machine and we
decided okay we're gonna take it
together at the same time and just learn
about how to build an online physical
product business so prior to that I had
only been doing non physical products
and just having a physical product that
someone could buy from me and
old in their hand was really exciting it
was a nice thought just knowing that
someone can open a package from you know
UPS and they take out all the paper and
then they see the product and they were
just really excited about it and that
kind of gave me a little bit of a rush
so then I got a keyboard a real for you
right because sometimes people look at
other ways I think of making money
online and it's maybe did you know
selling digital products or whatever it
is but when it's like a physical product
that you know someone is receiving a
guess in the mail and they can use it
and it just feels like more of a real
concept I guess for a lot of people it's
just more tangible and I anyways I
really liked the idea so we started
taking the course and right off the bat
you know from the first module I was
really excited because they start with
all these testimonials of people that
have been through the course before and
all their success and I was like wow
this is amazing the possibilities are
endless and it was awesome so I we took
the course and we built our first
products at the same time and it was
just a really great journey and I
learned a lot and the course was amazing
because I don't know how I could have
done it without having a course to guide
me because I feel like there's a lot of
things that you wouldn't think about on
your own and it can help you from making
too many mistakes but the same time you
know when you do make mistakes you learn
from them and it's it's a great learning
experience so I built a first product
learn from it had some success with it
then I built the second product actually
I can show you guys yeah sure we brought
the products here just to kind of give
you guys a visual of it and we'll also
do two if you guys want to learn more
about Tatiana we didn't really link to
your website and stuff so for those of
you that actually want to check out you
know we're trying to be as transparent
as possible in this video with you guys
you got nothing to hold back or hide so
if you guys want to actually check out
her website Lux health calm and a little
bit about her business probably more
suitable for the women out there
especially but once you go ahead and
share some of your products okay so this
here is my first product it's very very
light and all it is is a face sponge and
the reason I picked this product is
because it's lightweight it's something
that I was interested in it's natural I
know that it really helps to make the
skin glow and I had great experience
with it and I also saw that it was
really training at the time I think this
was I'm not sure what year it was but it
was like she doesn't need me two years
ago or so ago yeah so it was it was
trendy and and I thought okay I'm gonna
hop on this way again and launch this
product so I did and I mean it was very
inexpensive to make so that's one thing
I do have to know is that as I said a
student and working you know I was
working at the time at a restaurant as a
server there wasn't a lot of cash flow
and I think a lot of big misconception
is that a lot of people think that you
need to have a ton of money to build an
online business you know the whole
saying that it takes money to make money
and sure there's some truth to that
right but you can still start and
eventually what happens is you make
profits you reinvest them then you make
a bigger order and then you reinvest and
that's literally what I did I never took
out any loans and never borrowed money
from anyone and it gave me that slow and
steady growth I'm sure that if I did
take out loans or if I had a bigger cash
flow that I could have invested it would
have grown much faster but I didn't
really need that and I think it's good
to go at a slow pace sometimes because
it allows you to really reflect on
everything that you're learning and just
enjoy the experience as well so I think
just to dive in here so this product
like you know you had good success with
this product it was like a perfect one
for you to start with and I think
oftentimes people think like like yeah I
think they think they need thousands of
dollars to star or something like that
but this product you sourced it from
China for like cutting you know like
less than a dollar per sponge right yeah
so I think I paid somewhere along the
lines of like 50 cents per unit and my
first batch was less than three hundred
dollars u.s. so that was my very first
order including all the packaging and
the shipping and everything so cuz it's
so light right so it was the really
cheap cuz shipping overseas can be
expensive so just to explain to people
the process of what so big
what we're talking about when people
look at selling on Amazon or you know on
her website now is the process of
private labeling so what she did is you
found this product cognacs
you did research on Amazon we'll talk
more about that for you guys you know
how to you determine based on what you
learn from amazing a selling machine you
know what's the criteria the demand all
that sort of stuff you you know found
different suppliers in China and you
reached out to them you found out you
got a quote and everything from the
product and then basically you did is
you put your label and your logo and
packaging all that on it they
manufacture it
they then shipped it from China to
Amazon and then that's how you started
selling it right so one important thing
I that's good that you're explaining
this is that if you don't know what
private label lien is it's literally
pretend that there's nothing on here
this is a blank label I'm not creating a
new product I'm not inventing something
right I'm not going to the lab and like
saying okay this ingredient in that
ingredient I'm already taking something
that's been proven to be successful and
doing well in sales on Amazon I'm just
saying you know what I'm gonna private
label that product and I'm gonna see if
it's available in China or anywhere else
in the world to source and then I
contact the manufacturers and so forth
so then you differentiate yourself which
we'll talk a little bit about as well
you're essentially just putting your
label on the product eventually what you
want to do is you can tweak the product
you can enhance that you can improve it
which is why my last product was so
successful it's because I was able to
differentiate myself from all the other
competitors but we'll talk about that a
little bit later another example is you
know let's say this is my first product
that I launched on Amazon called
l-carnitine and l-carnitine is an amino
acid supplement is great for Fitness
recovery endurance and fat loss and the
ingredient so basically I sourced this
from the United States because when it
comes to supplements and consumable
products you have to there's certain
regulations with that anyways
l-carnitine was a product that I started
with but the ingredient l-carnitine
tartrate is actually really not that
different than other l-carnitine --zz
that you find at your local store or
the ones on Amazon there might be
differences of course of the
manufacturing process the quality of the
ingredients but for the most parts just
one ingredient inside this 500
milligrams of l-carnitine per capsule
but the difference is is how you brand
yourself and how you market and
differentiate okay so like if you wanted
to sell an L carnitine you can find
suppliers that will happily you know you
can source products where you put your
own you know label and logo and
everything on the bottle now you have
your own product your own l-carnitine
and you can launch that on Amazon market
it promote it and make money from it so
that's basically the process of private
labeling and just one more example is
there's been rumors that what was the
cult old Navy has the same manufacturer
as Lululemon for their sportswear so
let's pretend this is true so Lululemon
has a pair of pants and they sell them
for one hundred and fifty dollars and
then Old Navy has the exact same pair of
pants but with a different logo so Old
Navy has their logo lumen lemon has
their logo but the other than that the
materials are the same the product is
exactly the same other than the logo Old
Navy sells them for 50 bucks versus 150
the only difference is the branding yeah
the same can be said for a soft drink
right whether it's Cola
there's coca-cola and Pepsi and you know
can be essentially the same taste same
ingredients but how they stand out
differentiate is the marketing and the
branding of it so that was your first
product and that first product here the
sponge you know you did pretty well with
this right and I think the main thing
you know wasn't your big winner and you
don't really focus on selling it much
anymore but you want to share a little
bit like what you learned from this and
even like you know what challenges did
you face with it that you know you kind
of moved on to like the next product I
mean I I liked this product cuz again I
learned a lot from it without having to
invest a ton of money it did sell for
around $10 and I think that if you're
going to start with a product it's
better to start with something $15 or up
because you're just going to make more
profit that way
I learned you know there's not there's
not much that and went wrong with this
product just it's just that it's wrong a
simple product I think that I think the
challenge that you face from it remember
what I remember is that it was a little
bit hard to stand out and differentiate
a bit and you couldn't do as much the
pricing because everyone else was
selling it for around $10 as well like
all the other competitors on Amazon and
also so it was like the only way to
differentiate was really with the price
and that challenging can with Amazon
when you sell a product less than $10
oftentimes they list it as an add-on
item so that you can't just like buy
that product on its own you have to buy
it you have to have their products yeah
so I think like it was a good starter
product but you're limited and even with
the marketing to like you know there's
only so much you could really do to
really market it but I think one like
thing I you know cuz I know work with a
lot of people that get started on Amazon
and I review their products they send me
in stuff to give them the advice on that
I think a lot of people get so caught up
on the first product being perfect where
it's like they're so afraid of taking
that leap of faith and launching a
product because they're like you know
what if it doesn't sell or what if you
know something goes wrong or you know
what if I lose money or whatever it
might be and I think it's important
understanding your first product will
always be your worst product because
their first product you don't really
know yet what you're really doing you
know and hopefully you got a good course
that can kind of guide you and help you
avoid mistakes that people make but you
know it's like what you've learned from
this product is really what's allowed
you gave you the foundation for your
next product and the product after that
so it's like this first product doesn't
have to be perfect you know and you know
even if it's you know getting a lower
inventory amount you know just kind of
getting your feet wet gaining that
experience you'll learn from that and
then you can then take that you know
what you've learned and then apply that
to the next product and this product you
know when you decided to kind of move
away from it you were able to you know
sell off your inventory and stuff so
people people are like afraid of like
what if I lose my initial investment you
want to talk about that that one thing
that is important is I see a lot of
people who they want to like invest
$10,000 right off the bat but like
Stephan said your first product is a
learning curve and I wouldn't recommend
seems so much money in it because you
are gonna make it a Stakes and just
treat it as treat it as a lesson and
though there are some people that do
like I've got a friend she just hit it
out of the park over a million dollars
of this first product so some people do
I mean some people do but if you're so
worried about it and you're so caught up
in it in it and having analysis
paralysis not deciding on what the
product is because you're so worried
then just you know don't invest too much
like I did and that way you can go
through the process and then you know
after I released this I actually felt a
relief like I wasn't really too
concerned with getting a whole bunch of
sales I said okay I learned from this
what's my next product it was I think
also too is like you change your mind
just because like you're more passionate
and excited about something else you saw
that there's another niche or product
that you can sell and you know do even
better with and so sometimes it's like
that first product you might not be
totally sure about but like you might
want to change your mind and go in a
different direction that's totally fine
too and so that's one thing that some
people might go through different
category altogether so when you you make
a product you set it in one Amazon
category say this is in beauty all of a
sudden I decided hey I want to go into
the fashion category you know so it's
good to have that leeway with it yeah
and what would you say like at the peak
of how much money you're making a month
with that product I don't even remember
I think maybe it was one to two thousand
I think it was a little bit more than
that I was like up to five thousand but
this one yeah I think that was the
mascara okay all right well let's move
on to the next product then so even even
that you know one two thousand is still
like and I think one thing we'll mention
too is that when we say these numbers
are probably most sales so that's the
gross gross amount of sales that you
know you're making obviously you know
we'll talk about profit margins and how
much you profit and and everything from
that but um I think with this product
you obviously had a pretty good profit
because you're sourcing it for less than
a dollar you know so your amazon takes
their fees of course but you know you've
kinda always had like a 50% profit
margin at least right
and one thing that's funny is you know
hearing us say that now it's that when
you first start out you're like you know
I would just be so happy just to make a
thousand dollars in sales and you know I
would be so happy to make twenty five
hundred dollars in sales and then just
you know quit my job and stuff but as
you are in the business your standards
get higher and higher your goals get
higher and higher and all of a sudden
it's ten thousand a month and then
twenty thousand a month and it's just
you get more ambitious because you get
more confidence in the process you
realize that yeah this works and you
just kind of have to set that number and
you can achieve it it's often times -
it's like the money that you're making
you're like okay well I could take this
profit and then I could just you know
upgrade my lifestyle or you know spend
it on myself or whatever it is or maybe
I should take that money and invest it
back into the business and grow even
further so sometimes it's like I think
you got to know what you're getting in
the business for because like both of us
we're both overachievers and like me
both like we get addicted to like the
process of business and growing or like
we love that but by all means you don't
have to like there's some people out
there they just want to do this and just
make an extra thousand bucks a month can
change a lot of people's life you know
and maybe you don't care necessarily to
keep putting money back in to grow it
but you just want to use that money to
you know maybe quit your job or pay some
of your bills or pay your rent or
whatever that might be so it is useful
to know like what are you really doing
this for ultimately I think one of the
biggest goals that people have is be
able to quit their job right that's the
biggest thing that I see from a lot of
people they caught up in a nine-to-five
or whatever it is they're not really
passionate about it and they're trading
their time for money and you want to
talk a little bit about that because you
quit your job you know quite a while ago
now and you know you've you know at the
time you're living with your you know
living with your mom you're going to
school and now like your whole
lifestyles change like what would you
say is the biggest like shift that
you've had from that so I just want to
touch on that so my goal with this
business was to be able to quit my job
and just make enough money to live off
of and then build a brand and so I've
even had some people contact me on
Instagram from that last video as saying
that oh you're a liar and you're
lies on YouTube and your lifestyle
doesn't reflect how much money are
making but that's because I don't care
to upgrade my lifestyle like I care to
reinvest a lot of this money so I can
grow the brand and like Stefan said
that's not gonna be everyone's choice so
for me just being able to pay myself
enough for my living expenses and to
just be able to quit my job I'm happy
like that makes me so happy because what
happens now is that yeah I'm actually
working a lot more hours than I was at
my day job and the thing is I enjoy it
because I'm choosing to do it and I'm
not just working for a paycheck I'm
working to build an asset so I know that
eventually this business I can sell it
if I wanted to but it's just you have a
different type of drive when you're
working towards something that you're
creating for yourself and it's exciting
and and yeah it was challenging at first
because I had a lot of resistance with
my family and nobody was supportive of
me except you and it was you know when
you're excited about something you want
to share it with people you want to tell
you know hey guys like I just learned
about this and this is so exciting and
nobody wanted to hear it and everyone
thought it was crazy yeah so I I had a
lot of struggles like it was really hard
living at home especially with my mom I
love her to death but she's very very
conservative in the fact that you have
to go to school and finish University
you know you have a bright future have
the security she's huge on security and
I get that but it just it wasn't really
my plan anymore and so I had to hide a
lot of the things I was doing I couldn't
share it with her and there was a lot of
fights it was like just a lot of
arguments and it wasn't good it was
holding me back a lot and making me feel
pretty depressed and lonely and I felt
like I wanted to quit many times just to
make her happy and eventually I realized
that you know what I need to just you
know for the time being not to share
with anyone because sometimes it's
better to just not share these things
because people just don't understand if
some people won't be supportive and
that's fine but maybe just being able to
not share it with them for a time being
and you just grow your business and then
one day you can you know ya rasol
speaker so results speak for themselves
yeah so now so I did that and I grew my
business and then I finally convinced my
mom hey look I can quit my job now this
business is paying me enough money to
live and then she's like oh interesting
yeah and that's the thing like you know
when you first kind of start a journey
like this understand a lot of your
friends a family might not understand
you know especially older generation
people might think hey you know the way
the success is that you got to get a
good job you got to go to school you got
to go to university but the world's
changed you know and like people now buy
things online they learn online there's
online courses and trainings that are
available that and a lot of cases are
more valuable than going to university
to learn business or marketing because
you're learning exact strategies that
are working right now today not from
some sort of textbook or professor
that's never run a business and you know
we live in a world where it's like yeah
you can make money from your laptop you
can make money anywhere you you know
where you might be in the world you know
we live in Canada but there's people
obviously in the US and Australia and
all over Europe and Asia and South
America Africa that can start an online
business that we all have the same
opportunity that exists you know there's
not anything that different or special
you know we're not much smarter than
anyone else we just you know decided to
go down this path and just like with
anything when you put in the time the
effort to work into it you will learn it
you'll get good and you know you just
stay on that path but I think one thing
it was helpful for you like and I think
for everyone watching is like you got to
have the belief that this is gonna work
and that you can do this and I think a
lot of people they're skeptical or they
have fear or they've maybe gotten their
hopes up before they've been
disappointed so they're afraid to like
go for it I think oh you know they can't
even believe something like this is real
like there's even some people out there
they're like they don't believe that you
can really make money online or that
yeah or you know that you're making
money online or that I'm making money
online and it's like as long as you have
that limiting belief and you can't see
it you have a
spot and it's like you're never gonna
get there and I think one thing that
shifted for us why I've been making
money online much more before you but
for you like meeting me obviously but
also like going through training but
even like when we went to the ESM event
you know in Vegas in Vegas and you met
other people and you're around them like
so I think like there's gonna be
negative influences in your life and
whether it's people like online or
friends or family you got to love them
but just understand they might not be
the most supportive and so you got to
find I think community or other people
that are on the same path as you that
you can learn from and be around that
support you and I think that's one thing
that you know I think you've had it just
gives you that confidence going into it
it's so important guys and that's
definitely when I went to the ASM event
which is where everyone congregates
who's taken the course they're all in
the same journey and then they have
these keynote speakers who are super
successful with Amazon and that really
just completely shifted my mind because
I went from thinking okay this could
make it be make a maximum of like two
thousand dollars a month to thinking I
could make a hundred thousand dollars a
month you know and it is hard to find
these people you know even online like a
lot of Amazon sellers who are super
successful they're not on YouTube
sharing with you their success you know
they're pretty much transparent not as
transparent so it can be hard to find
these sources but you got to find them
because you have to have references in
your life of people who have success
doing what you want to do and I think
that's why we're doing this video
because we want to show you guys that
yes I mean some there's always gonna be
people who won't believe us that will
say that some for some reason we're
lying and whatever but if you can open
your mind to thinking that this is a
possibility for you your life will
change dramatically my life did and I'm
so grateful for that and I wish that
there was somebody on YouTube that I had
to help me with my belief mindset I mean
I'm grateful that I had Stefan because
he's all about the mindset but it wasn't
until I really went to that ASM event
where I saw people that are just doing
phenomenally well that I really was
determined to make everything work
sometimes you see you know figures and
things like that and it's hard to wrap
your mind around that you know you know
in fact that you're doing over 50,000 a
month like you would have it's like when
you first look at your brand-new you
hear something like that you're like
how's that possible like is that really
it's thinking like there's people that
like we know people they're doing a
million dollars a month like it's well
like it's crazy when you get into this
world in this community the
possibilities that exists but you know I
like I know for both of us were just
been very open to that and open to
learning from others and humbling
ourselves and like you know I'm I've
like I remember when I got started I'd
look up to those people and I'd like
it's hard to wrap my mind around it but
you know I just decide you know I'm
gonna suspend my disbelief I'm gonna
learn from others I'm gonna have an open
mind and now I'm one of those people you
know and and I you know people that
follow me on youtube or know my
lifestyle and everything you know it
speaks for itself there too but you know
it is real and I think like having that
belief and maybe even not even just
belief but faith because faith is when
you believe when there's no reason to
believe you know and you got to have
that faith because that faith will allow
you to dream big and have those
possibilities exist and to really go for
it and try because if you don't believe
you're not gonna put in there all you're
not gonna do what what it takes to
really succeed so I think that's just a
really important thing we'll talk more
about mindset in a bit do you want to
dive to your next product now we're kind
of intertwining a few different things
but hopefully you guys are engaged with
it by the way if you guys are enjoying
this video hit the thumbs up or leave a
comment below and let us know questions
you have we're probably going to do
another video as well to answer more of
your questions like a Q&A or a live
stream or something and so if you guys
make sure that you're subscribed we can
get notified of that next video that
we'll do together but let's dive into
your next product okay so my next
product I wanted to do some so first of
all I was looking at okay what is
something that's really popular right
now in the Beauty category because I
wanted to do something in Beauty
category and I saw that you know there's
this 3d fiber mascara that a lot of
women love because it makes their
eyelashes super long and thick
there's you know this one brand called
unique that's a multi-level marketing
brand dominating the market and I
thought why not private label a similar
product and see how it does on Amazon so
I created wow lash so while ash is a 3d
fiber mascara and it's got you know
acute case it's got this is how I don't
know how how good quality this is but
this is a little instruction and these
are the two tubes so it has fiber and
gel and you know the funny thing is I
got the name Y lash because I was
working on a bank at the time and
everyone that came in I was using my
samples and everyone that came in said
wow your eyelashes are so long and I was
like ah it's such a good name for a
first pro second product so I named it
while ash and while ash did well it
really did especially in the beginning
people were really into it i leveraged
using you know getting reviews and
social media that's when I started to do
more social media at the time and user
to market to it is you could do it on
Instagram and even YouTube and stuff and
also you get immediate results right
with this product as great as it is you
don't get immediate results with this as
soon as you apply it you can see how it
works so people love immediate results
right so they share it on Instagram and
all that kind of the challenge I even
faced with supplements here because like
supplements on it like you don't get
result from taking a supplement right
like you've still gotta exercise and eat
well like the only negative reviews that
I've gotten really on Amazon or
someone's like it didn't work well it's
like well did you like it's not a magic
sure pill or anything like that right so
I think people so that's like it's
something like that it's like an
immediate difference result you did a
really good job here so you want to
share like like the packaging is really
great and the branding of it but you
also same process right you private
label this in China every everything
here is the same process you just you go
on Aliexpress Alibaba if you want to
source in China you can search anywhere
in the world of course China's a little
bit cheaper for now so I went on Alibaba
I found a bunch of different people I
typed in 3d fiber mascara that's it a
bunch of
of different suppliers selling the exact
same product and I started talking to
them kind of got a feel for who's
responding faster who has good English
who really cares for my business and
then I ordered maybe 10 samples tried
them all over different suppliers all
from different suppliers see that's
important you need to have samples
because you need to see which one has
the best product because you want to
sell the highest quality and the best
product so I finally landed on one
supplier because they had a great
product and their service was good and
they had a good response time and I
basically just put my logo on the tubes
and put my logo on the case so they were
already giving this case with the with
the products included and I just
imprinted my logo here it's actually
really cute now that I look at it and
and I created this logo for five dollars
on a web site called fiverr.com I just
told them that I want it to be called
Welsh and I want the Oh to be the I and
they created it and it cost me that's it
that's all it cost me do you remember
what it cost to source the product this
was it so for this product you realize
that you wanted to price it at a higher
price point and this one cost a bit more
than the sponge yeah so I wanted to
price this one about fifteen dollars and
I think I paid for each unit around like
ooh I John I have such a bad memory
sometimes I think maybe four point eight
dollars so around five dollars I think
that's what I paid yep you knew I had
big potential and I think it was because
of what you learn from the first product
you're like hey you know this product
has you know I could you know do even
better at this one so you kind of had
that confidence going in whereas maybe
if that was her first product you might
not have had the same confidence or had
the money financial means to be able to
be able to launch it exactly and that's
exactly it so once you do your first
product you just know the process and
you just you feel more confident even
contacting suppliers you know you say
hey I have a business now and you just
feel more confident I'm the problem with
this one is that it is a product that
goes near your eyes and of course I want
to make sure that if I'm selling
something to someone I want it to be
very safe and they did have you know all
the certificates that they needed
Amazon's very strict with that so you
need to get all of the document
which was good but at the same time
there are people who have very very
sensitive eyes and some people might
have reactions and in all honesty I just
didn't want to continue with the product
because I didn't want to have any
liabilities I didn't want to have
anything that could be a potential
liability for my brand and me personally
I wasn't even incorporated at that time
I was sole proprietor and when you're
sole proprietor if someone Sue's you
they're suing all of you they're not
suing the business so I learned soon
after that that it's a good time to
incorporate my business so if there is
any complications it's a little bit
better and and yeah so I decided that ok
this is a good product and I sold a lot
of it I think I made at that point
around five thousand a month with this
one and and that one also another
challenge that you kind of had with it
was that if it because it's like a
liquid if it if it dries up if it's like
in a warehouse for too long so I don't
know you can order so with things like
this liquids or anything
adjustable you can't order a huge amount
because if it's there for you know three
months well then the liquids gonna dry
up and then you're gonna get so many bad
reviews so any product that has the
potential to have negative reviews I
would reconsider it so for example I
have a minus a negative reviews every
product will get negative reviews by
some rare example anything with
technology is amazing
but anytime technologies involved
there's always room for complication and
whenever there's room for complication
or braking or anything like that you
just have more risk of getting negative
reviews versus if you have a product
that is say in the bait I love the baby
category I really do because there's
just so many simple products the more
simple a product the better it is so if
you just have this little towel for
babies I mean how many things can go
wrong with that if you have a good
quality towel cute design you're just
gonna have a lot of positives while
you're small like yeah so always keep
that in mind the more simple the product
the better yep great alright so let's
move on to your next prize so what so
what made you like you're doing pretty
well with that one but I remember at the
time you got really excited because you
saw a new trend a new opportunity which
is now this product so
well not surely so what happened this
actually kind of dropped off so again
what I didn't realize is that this was a
trend so I told you that I was looking
for a trend that was a mistake
and I shouldn't have looked for a trend
because every trend has a peak and then
it goes down and people just stopped
being interested in 3d5 people thought
you hadn't experienced me with that word
that when we were also out of stock for
a little bit of time too and that
affected things so with with Amazon it's
like it's really important how you
launch your product because it was on
it's a search engine and you want to
give it a boost right off the gate and
so when launching a product you do want
to make sure you have enough inventory
to like sustain sales because if you do
go out of stock then you're basically
gonna stop selling for a while and then
Amazon's gonna rank and reward other
products and brands that are selling and
now you're kind of lower and you kind of
have to reinvigorate yourself and kind
of get that boost you know again to the
top of Amazon so there are there are
things like that that you know you just
got to be aware of when going into it
just have a good strategy and I think
with with that one you just didn't you
hadn't you know you hadn't realized that
yet and there's obviously different
mistakes and stuff people make along the
way but okay so so anyways that kind of
went downhill for a little bit so I was
a little bit I felt bad that you know
well I I was at a peak and I was making
you know 5,000 and all of a sudden I'm
making 1,000 or whatever it was and so I
felt kind of bad and so I was kind of
taking a little bit of a breather from
the Amazon business and I heard of that
too though we'll talk about this is that
you're that product sales was dependent
just on Amazon right where it's like now
you don't we'll talk about that Amazon's
a great place to start but you can't
just depend on Amazon because then
you're at the mercy of them right
whereas you want to actually build what
she's built when I built which is a
brand and in business that has other
ways of marketing and selling your
product beyond just Amazon because if
it's just Amazon that's how that's how
everyone else focuses on is like hey how
can I just rank on Amazon and run Amazon
ads and that's all they do to market the
challenge with that is that then you do
have to worry about competition because
you know everyone else is doing that as
well
but like what you realize is hey you
know what I can differentiate if I start
to market and sell my product on YouTube
on Instagram on Facebook and utilize all
these other marketing channels now you
don't need Amazon as much and we'll talk
more about that later so I'm planting a
seed for you guys on that yeah that's
important I want to touch on that way
too okay so then I was kind of just
stepping back and looking at okay well
you know I don't order a lot of things
on Amazon and I am a consumer I'm in
Canada the reason I don't orders cuz
can't amazon.ca doesn't have that many
options but I looked at my cart to see
past order history and I noticed that I
was a repeat buyer for a certain product
and I saw that it was this waist trainer
and I was buying them you know very
frequently and I was saying oh you know
why am i buying them frequently well
because I like the results I'm getting
but they keep on falling apart and so
because I had this experience with these
products on how to private label I
thought you know this is a product that
I buy all the time I can save myself
some money and create my own product the
same product so I can create my own
waist trainer that doesn't fall apart so
that's kind of my initial train of
thought with that product so I sought
out again suppliers and did the whole
process receive the product loved the
product and I was like okay it's time to
sell on Amazon so I started to sell it
on Amazon and it just blew my mind how
it sold out immediately people just
loved it because I was able to find a
really high-quality supplier and
compared to all the other ones on Amazon
