I'm going to talk to you about how to
build a business around your passion now
I'm sure you've seen the advice before
from other successful business leaders
and experts whether that's Richard
Branson the founder of virgin or Bill
Gates or Steve Jobs where oftentimes you
know the best piece of advice that they
give is that if you just do what you
love and you follow your passion in life
then you will be successful and I
remember assuring that years ago and I
didn't really buy into that because I
thought you know there's a lot of people
out there that are successful they make
good money but they're not really doing
what they love and I know for myself I
started my journeys trying to build an
online business and I was trying a lot
of different things and a lot of cases I
followed not what I loved or my passion
but really just what would make me money
just to make money I just did that and
has more obsessed with just the make in
the money part then actually living my
passion and being fulfilled by what I
was doing but then what happened was
what I learned from that experience and
as I went through my own evolution is
that while I made some money
I wasn't number one fulfilled I wasn't
really happy but also I wasn't really
motivated at the level that I'm at today
whereas today I'm doing what I love I'm
following and pursuing my passion in
fact I remember a certain moment for me
where I was making some money just
really more so at a desperation right
because often if you're just trying to
make money but you don't care about the
passion that you have and loving what
you do you're often just really
desperate you're going through a lot of
pain and that's that was me I was broke
I was struggling I just thought if I can
just make some money some passive income
I don't care how if I could just do that
then it changed my entire life but then
what happened was what if I started to
make a little bit of money then that
desperation slowly goes away because now
you become more content right now you're
no longer desperate your backs not
against the wall and I remember what
happened to me once I started making a
couple hundred a thousand dollars a
month I lost all my motivation because I
didn't I didn't love what I was doing in
fact it felt like a chore I felt like I
had to push myself and quite a
tremendous amount of
a plan to get myself to do that and I'm
sure you can relate in some
circumstances of your life you know if
you've got a job right now you don't
really love you're not passionate about
that oftentimes it can be take a lot of
effort to really push yourself to wake
up that day you know get ready for work
go to work and you're not really
enjoying the process as much and
therefore you're not gonna perform as
much you're just doing it for money and
you kind of feel a bit of an emptiness
inside a lack of fulfillment
I remember for me another moment I
worked in the family business my dad had
a limestone fireplace company and I
worked for him and my dad's goal was for
me to take over the business the family
business and even though I would have
made a lot of great money from that I
would have been very comfortable
financially I knew that I wouldn't be
fulfilled I knew that I wouldn't be
happy it wouldn't be motivated for that
because you can't just be motivated in
business by money okay if that's your
motivation just to make money then
you're not you're not gonna have what it
takes to go through the grind and to
really hustle to build the business to
achieve the success and make the
difference really that you want to make
because it's gonna take a lot more than
just the money
that you're gonna make because money
money is a limiting limiting motivator
right there's been studies done that
your happiness only increases from the
money that you have up to around $60,000
a year and then after that your
happiness level doesn't really increase
that much by having more money so
finding what you love when I discovered
this and I started project life mastery
and I built a business around and meesh
a market a topic that I was really
passionate for and for me that was
self-development that was improving
myself because I asked myself what do I
really love what is my passion what do I
really want to give and contribute and
spend every single day of my life doing
cuz you got to do something every day
you know I lived the 4-hour workweek
lifestyle at one point I was making the
five thousand dollars a month passive
income and I was like oh great you know
now I can just retire and I can just do
nothing all day and I did that for a few
months but it's just a matter of time
but I was really bored and unfulfilled
and I was like man this sucks everyone
else is working everyone else is doing
this other things and I'm Here I am just
sitting there
watching movies and you know withering
away and so when I ask myself what do I
love what is my passion and I discover
you know it's self development I'd love
to help people I'd love to learn and
grow and I thought why can't I create a
career revolving around that a business
around that where every day I get to
grow and I get to share what I'm
learning and I get to help other people
and make a difference and that therefore
I could be fulfilled and what I'm doing
and so I did that
and I started project like master in
boom you know actually not not really
boom I was like very slow at the
beginning then it was a boom where it
really took off and I hit some traction
maybe after a few months of YouTube and
blogging and putting on content and
sharing where I was able to attract an
audience of people that really enjoyed
you know what I was doing and then what
happened after that is the money came
because what happened what I didn't even
really have to monetize it either I
didn't really have to try to make money
in my business because what happened was
I just started putting out content and
helping people and back then because a
lot smaller I could actually talk to
people one-on-one and email each other
back and forth and comment and and it's
like a very intimate thing and then I
had some people say hey Stefan do you
offer coaching can you coach me you know
and I was like yeah I guess I can and
you know I started doing Skype coaching
life coaching and helped people with
some of their goals and help them get
results and then eventually some people
hey you know can you help me make money
online I said yeah sure you know I'd
coach them help them with that and then
eventually I was able to create products
and I was able to share products as an
affiliate that I've been able to benefit
from and you know the rest has been
history you know I've just been able to
over the last five years build my brand
in my business and the money has come
the money has come because the more
people that have helped the more people
that I add value to and and create more
products and services that can really
make a difference and the more money
that I make and often I don't really
focus too much on the money because I
know that will always follow by a me
just being consistent and adding value
and trying to help people and creating
things that can really make a difference
and let me tell you guys my life has
changed because of it you know I work
harder than I've ever done before but
it's not out of desperation it's out of
love it's not a passion it's out of this
and
the sense of fulfillment of joy in my
life that I don't have to work really
anymore you know I could just I make
enough passive income that I could just
do nothing if I wanted to but I've lived
there I've been there and I know on the
other side of that that I'm not really
gonna be fulfilled and so I think it's
the ultimate to build a business around
a passion and what you love and if you
don't know what that is there's a lot of
people not everyone knows what their
passion is then maybe something that's
at least an interest for you to start
you know maybe you have an interest in
golf or cooking or fitness or
self-development or business or
marketing or how to play the guitar or
how to sing how to dance you know
whatever your interest might be if you
build a business around that the great
thing is it's not going to feel like
work it's gonna feel like a hobby that's
how I view my business it's a hobby that
I get paid for I've networked a day in
my life
everything I do is because I choose to
do it because I want to do it it's not
because I have to do it it's a much
different feeling so if you have an
interest the great thing is when you
build a business around that every
business every niche or market you're
gonna build a business around and again
it could be any type of business it can
be a physical products business it could
be the dentist industry and your own
practice it can be being a lawyer it
could be whatever that is for you if you
have an interest for that you are going
to proactively learn and understand that
that niche in that market whereas if
you're in a niche from mark you don't
really care for it then you're not going
to put in the time to really learn and
study and get involved with that because
my business is around a topic that I'm
passionate about self-development
I'm always naturally learning I'm always
going to seminars and reading books and
going through programs and investing in
myself I'm getting coaches and going to
masterminds I'm doing all that stuff out
of my own pocket spending investing that
money because those are things I love
anyways I would do regardless of that
was my business just so turns out that
me by doing that helps me be able to
build my business as well and add more
value increase
content make a difference you know if
you have an interest or a love for golf
well I can bet that you're probably
already buying the golf magazines and
books and and following people related
to that and learning and going out and
practicing and playing why not turn that
into a business as well if you can which
you absolutely can and actually be able
to profit from that and then you can
just you know live your life doing what
you love
same thing with cooking you know if you
are already interested in that
regardless you are going to be spending
time learning and practicing and and and
and watching the cooking shows to really
master that and then you just get the
benefit the advantage of be able to
profit from your passion at the same
time too so that's a huge benefit that
you get you know I I work with some
people they're building a business
around a topic they have no passion for
and it's like they're not doing what it
takes to succeed in that because it's a
chore for them to study and learn about
that niche you know I know someone that
he's building a business he's a guy but
he's in the niche of helping women that
are pregnant and uh-huh and you know
it's such a chore for him it's such a
struggle because he doesn't even care
about it he doesn't even care about
learning about pregnant women and
studying and reading the books on that
and being involved with that so he has a
huge disadvantage there and even though
it might make him a lot of money you're
not gonna be fulfilled by that I know a
lot of entrepreneurs they're in
mastermind groups I'm a part of their
doing what they do because they make a
lot of money from it but they have no
passion for it and they would trade in a
heartbeat
to make less money and exchange that was
something that they loved something that
the more passionate about okay so I
believe that's where it's at that's
what's gonna sustain you long term and
as a practical exercise if you're
watching this video think about what are
things that do interest you you know
what are things that you do every day
anyways what are the things that you
search and look for online the things
that you follow if it's maybe it's
sports I love basketball although I
don't really play it that much I like
watching basketball and I watch ESPN
First Take and I'll watch on dispute
on Fox Fox Sports and I watched the
Cleveland Cavaliers and I follow what's
going on
well I if I wanted to because that's
something I love I can build a business
around that and you know what I'm
already watching the shows and learning
and studying and watching the game
anyways so that's an advantage that I
have and I'm gonna be motivated for it
so if I wanted to that would be
something that I could build a business
around I can start a YouTube channel
around that I could sort of blog around
that a new site I could be an affiliate
for some of these other basketball
related courses and programs that are
out there and merchandise etc that could
be a business that could profit around a
passion that I have right so make a list
make a list of all the things that
interest you again they don't have to be
a strong passion but least an interest
is really the key so activities hobbies
that you might have and if you're not
clear then maybe you got to try new
things
maybe you've got it you know try new
activities and get involved different
things that you can learn to enjoy and
be a part of you know I've got a friend
of mine who is a guitar player he's got
a great youtube channel called campfire
guitar star and so he was a guitarist
and his name is will Ripley you know he
there's a roommate of mine and
everything and he decided you know what
I should turn this into a business and
so he started doing guitar lessons in
person in Vancouver and they started
doing it on skype and then he created an
online course and then he got credit a
YouTube channel and now he's got a whole
brand on how to play guitar right so he
was able to turn a passion and interest
that he had something he was doing
anyways into a business and now he loves
it he's fulfilled by it so make a list
of all the things and even know here's
the thing a lot of people this is what
holds a lot of people back they'll still
hold themselves back of starting the
business because they'll say you know I
don't know how I'm really passionate
about this or I don't know if it's gonna
make me as much money as I want or
whatever it is and so they don't do
anything at all
listen doesn't mean that whatever
business that you're in
doesn't mean that it has to be for life
okay I was once a dating coach for four
years and doing dating coaching and
being involved in that business
that's not what I do today
but that was a passion that I had at the
time that I pursued and built a business
around and doing coaching and built it
up and that's fine I you know your
passions change as time goes on you know
within a few years I say you know this
isn't only my passion and I did
something else instead so that's okay
guys and it's not like just get started
as a key thing get started with it and
build it up if it ends up not being your
passion you don't really get excited for
it
don't look at it as a loss look at it as
a gain because in the pursuit of
building it you learned a lot you gained
a lot of useful skills and knowledge you
know around setting it up you've gained
a lot from that experience that you can
then take with you to the next business
that you might pursue or your other life
endeavor that's how I view it you know
the years that I spent as a dating coach
we're not wasted I learned so much about
business marketing and speaking and
coaching during that time that has been
able to help me today
and what I now do so everything has a
benefit and a value the key though is
getting started with it pursuing that
passion pursuing that interest and
getting your you know your hands dirty
don't be afraid to get some dirt between
your nails and grind it out and learn
because that's how you're gonna that's
how you're gonna be able to create the
life that you really want and worst case
you could sell the business you could
abandon it you can just benefit from the
passive income and then start up another
one pursue your passion after that okay
so I want to encourage you in this video
to pursue your passion whatever that is
if you've got a job right now you always
been thinking about it do something
towards building your business okay it
all starts with deciding on that niche
that market and then get some training
get some help get a course get a
step-by-step I've got my affiliate

you're passionate
outdoor activities and camping well why
not create physical products around that
why not publish books around what you
love what you're interested in and just
you know of course make sure there's a
market there's a demand there for it as
well but you're gonna have much more of
an advantage doing something you'll love
there's something that you don't have
any interest for okay
so take some action towards it okay even
if you don't have much time spend
whatever time that you have building it
because as time goes on you're gonna
have built something and you're gonna
built an asset of value that will then
be able to be able to be turned into a
business that is making you money okay
