hey everyone's Stefan here from project
life mastery calm and in this video I'm
gonna share with you how to overcome the
shiny object syndrome how to say no to
distractions and how to focus on mastery
syndrome is a condition that a lot of
people struggle with a lot of people
have to deal with it because online
you're constantly being bombarded with
new opportunities new products new
business models new diets new whatever
right everything is always new and it's
always bombarding you constantly you're
always being marketed to non-stop
whether that's on your facebook or
social media or on YouTube or on your
email inbox whatever it is and it's very
overwhelming and so as the result you
become a dabbler the dabbler is someone
that struggles with the shiny object
syndrome and they're always jumping from
one opportunity to the next they crave
the instant gratification they love the
newness the excitement of something
brand new and sure enough they get
distracted easily they never master
anything they never achieved success
because they're always making a
commitment and then they're breaking it
because they're always pursuing the next
thing I've spoken many times before
about mastery my brand is project life
mastery my course is affiliate marketing
mastery K money mastery
they each have a very important lesson
if you ever invest in my course a lesson
called a mastery mentality which goes
into exactly this the dabbler versus the
master and how to actually commit to
mastery because I want to make sure
people invest in my courses they have
the mindset of mastery they don't get
caught up with that now with that being
said the shiny object syndrome is
basically for people that are always
looking for that get-rich-quick the
shortcut they're looking for the the
latest gimmick or trick and they they
don't want to they want the shortcut so
that they don't have to put in the work
to really master something that again is
the dabbler you got to recognize that
this is a problem for you and you've got
to make sure
you commit from here on out to mastery

that I got made up I wear these to
remind myself to commit to mastery okay

there's a link in the description but I
like to remind myself of that mastery is
when you commit to something you're
all-in you're committed there's no back
door there's no plan B there's no if I
change my mind after 10 days I'm gonna
get my refund and then I'm gonna pursue
the next opportunity and then after 10
days I'm gonna refund that and then do
the next one and those are the people
that never get anywhere okay if you come
in to a business to a diet to a workout
program to whatever you got to commit
fully and you got to commit to mastery
that means that you have to be careful
with your commitment you don't just
commit to anything because if you commit
to something you got to make sure that
you follow through on that commitment
okay because the problem is if you
commit to something oh I'm gonna do this
diet I'm this workout program you do it
for ten days you quit then you do
something else
you're constantly breaking your word in
your commitment so therefore you're not
gonna believe your commitment the next
time that you commit to something
because you're gonna destroy any trust
or belief that you have that your word
and a commitment actually even means
anything okay so commute commit to fewer
things when you commit to something go
all-in to focus pull out and then say no
to distractions if you can't say no to
distractions another opportunity is now
then what are you gonna do when you're
successful when you're successful you
get a hundred times more opportunities
and distractions than you get when
they're first brand-new starting out
like I can't tell you how many every day
I get hundreds of emails of the latest
opportunity people that want to partner
with me people they have this investment
opportunity this this this all these
different things that are constantly
being bombarded in my way hundreds of
comments and messages all that sort of
stuff and so I have a learn okay I've
got to learn to say no no to this note
of that no to this and I've already
committed to my goals I've already
committed to this or that and I'm not
going to let anything else interfere
with that very important so you have to
learn how to say
no people that want to hang out with me
Stefan I'd love to go for coffee with
you no I can't right now I'm busy I'm
focused on this if you don't fit within
these goals that I have then I'm gonna
have to say no and really that no just
means not yet because it doesn't mean
that you can say no to this opportunity
forever it just means that not yet I'll
get around to it at a later point I'm
gonna schedule it in so for example
sometimes there are opportunities that
you don't want to pass up right you want
it you want to be strategic about that
so for example you know maybe there's a
course a product an opportunity a
business model I get those offer all the
time a course comes up there's a webinar
course that I recently bought but I was
like man I want this but I can't focus
on it just yet cuz I'm really busy right
now with this project and this project
so what I'm gonna do is I bought it but
I said I'm not gonna go through it yet
I'm gonna go through it three months
from now and I'm gonna schedule it in my
calendar once I'm done this project then
I have the time to focus on it and go
through it but I bought it because the
opportunity was there it was at a
discount and I want to take advantage of
that and so I just said no for now not
yet but I will get to it on my Kindle
here I've got like 150 books here
whenever someone recommends a book to me
a friend even a follower a coach a
mentor I buy it right away I have my
Kindle on me or I have my phone and I
buy it right there on the spot that
doesn't mean that I'm really suffering
from shiny object and I'm just jumping
ship from what I was already reading
what that means is that I'm gonna buy
the book because the person recommended
it to me I value that person's opinion
and I have people in my life because I
appreciate and value what they say so
I'm gonna listen to their advice I'm
gonna buy it but it's gonna be here on
my Kindle and I'm not gonna read it
right away but I'm gonna read it once
I'm done the current books that are
reading so the shiny object syndrome it
doesn't mean that you you have to say no
to every opportunity could say I'll say
yes but not yet that's what I'm trying
to come across in this video so what
that means though as well is that
focusing on a few things at a time and
being very strategic about how we were
spending your time and saying no to
certain things at different times
a very important skill you have to learn
how to say no more if not more than how
much you say yes in your life and again
you have to really look at the things
that are presented your way and ask
yourself is this gonna be a distraction
or is this gonna support me and what I'm
trying to accomplish right now in my
life and the goals that I currently have
and if it's not you got to say no I'll
give you guys a quick story before I
wrap up this video Richard Branson the
founder of Google I started the founder
of virgin Richard Branson he speaks at
different seminars of different events
you can pay him to speak at your event
this one person contacted Richard
Branson's assistant so you want to have
Richard Branson comes to get our event
and we're gonna offer him $25,000 and
the assistant responded back and said no
you know Richard Branson is not
available we're sorry but he cannot come
and speak well these people are
committed to getting Richard Branson to
come speak at their event so they
offered more money they said well we're
gonna pay $50,000 and I don't remember
the exact numbers but let's just say for
the sake of this story we're gonna pay
fifty thousand dollars assistant
responded back sorry no you know Richard
Branson cannot come and speak they upped
the ante we're willing to pay a hundred
thousand dollars for Richard Branson to
come and speak from one hour at our
event and Richard Branson's assistant
responded back and said there's no
amount of money that you can offer that
will make Richard Branson come and speak
at your event because right now Richard
Branson is very focused on these results
and outcomes in his life and anything
that is not aligned with that or it is
taken away or distracting from that no
matter how much money you offer the
answer will be no and so here's a person
that had such strict boundaries knew
what he wanted what he is focused on
would not let anything interfere with
that no matter how great the opportunity
was he was still willing to say no even
if it meant passing up a great
opportunity because he knew what he
wanted he was focused and that doesn't
mean that you know maybe he's gonna open
up his time in the future maybe you know
when he has more time when he's open up
to it you can come speak at his event
but at that time he
what he wanted and there's one to say no
so learning to say no knowing what you
want focusing on what you want learning
how to say not yet being strategic with
your time that's how you overcome the
shiny object syndrome and that's how you
develop that skill to be able to focus
in your life in your business to create
the success that you want so if you
