How To Quit Your Job By Selling Low Competition Amazon Products

everyone this is Stefan James from
Project life mastery and let me ask you
a question how would you like to quit
your job and start making passive income
by selling physical products on Amazon
well today you're gonna learn just that
and I'm excited to introduce you to a
special guest and a good friend of mine
by the name of Steven summers now Steven
is an incredibly successful Amazon
seller he's made millions of dollars now
selling physical products on Amazon and
all over the world and the unique thing
about Steven that's different than
everything else you've never heard
before
is he's developed a unique method and
process for selling on Amazon that's
different than everyone else is doing
it's different than almost every other
Amazon seller and so today's Steven's
gonna share with you this method he's
gonna show you a little bit more about
it for getting started on Amazon and
something that's more unique and
different so make sure you give your
full attention to this video and for
Steven and I'm now gonna turn things
over for you guys to Steven so enjoy
hey everyone from project life mastery
tool or I'm gonna break down exactly how
to quit your job selling low competition
products on Amazon so a couple of things
in this video we're going to cover
number one I'm gonna give you the exact
business model that we use at
marketplace superheroes to leverage what
we call the marketplace method I'm gonna
explain that in detail we're also gonna
break down how to get to five or ten
thousand dollars per month in net profit
ie an income we're gonna break down the
number of products you need to be
selling at the type of products and a
lot more and with that in mind I am also
going to show you some actual examples
of products that we will call
marketplace super heroes approved
products gonna show you those in detail
and lots more so let's get into it first
thing we got to do is just break them
very briefly how Amazon works fulfilled
by Amazon works specifically so you can
understand our business model in three
phases so the first phase is we go to
amazon.com or an are Amazon Dakota UK
but we'll stick with amazon.com for
today and we find products that are in
demand but are low competition in nature
now I know you're wondering how do we
find those I will cover that later in
the video in detail so you can
understand that that's step one
the second phase then is we take those
products that we have found we have
validated that the competition
is not too high and we find ways to
improve the offer to improve the product
and the third phase is when we've done
that we then brand up the product with
our own brand on it we import that
product and we sell it on as many Amazon
sites as we possibly can so that's the
business model in three phases the rest
of this video is going to be breaking
down that business model how it works
why it works and a lot more
so how does it work when we actually
bring our product into stock and we send
it to Amazon well the first thing we do
obviously is we have a pre Amazon
location where where we receive the
product then we send those products to
an Amazon warehouse then once they're in
the Amazon's warehouse what happens is
whenever you make a sale on the Amazon
platform Amazon will actually ship out
your item on your behalf to the customer
and they'll also take care of the
customer service relating to your orders
you don't have to be all day long taking
questions and answering questions Amazon
will do that on your behalf and they'll
also take care of the day-to-day running
of the business as well which is a huge
benefit so we have the three phases to
find your product and get it onto Amazon
we also now have this relationship with
Amazon so when we look at all this you
can understand what how it works why it
works etc and so we're gonna move on now
and get deeper into the types of
products and how it works in a lots more
detail
now before I break down a ten and five
thousand dollar income so you can
understand how to quit your job and go
full-time with Amazon let me talk about
a couple of key concepts that are really
important when you leverage what we call
the marketplace method so first of all
what is the marketplace method well we
see Amazon like a stock market and so
you go to Amazon you check out what's in
demand what's selling right now but also
what products are lower in competition
where you can easily come in with a new
improved version of the products that
are working with your own brand and you
can compete with those items because
they're not as competitive as other
products on Amazon we say it's like a
stock market because we do our research
on Amazon we spend their time on Amazon
then selling there and our goal really
is to take the products that were
bringing on to say amazon.com and sell
them on as many different Amazon sites
as possible at the same time it's
important to explain why we actually
sell on Amazon and this is all about the
idea of traffic and what is traffic well
traffic is just people on the internet
now the interesting thing about traffic
is you can't create traffic people might
say create or drive traffic so driving
traffic is a more appropriate way to
look at it and why is it appropriate
well think about it people on the
internet right now go online to Amazon
to find a particular product because
they have a problem let's say they have
a storage problem in their house they
look for storage boxes for example so
the godown is on the type in storage
boxes so in that way that traffic was
not created per se it just exists on the
Internet and right now as we are sitting
here Amazon is where everybody is
utilizing to find products to solve
their specific problems so we don't
create that traffic Amazon is simply
diverting that traffic to the website
right now so our goal of them while I'm
gonna teach you today how to do is we've
got to look at that and say ok what are
people actually buying right now how can
we improve what's already on there and
how can we make sure as much as humanly
possible that the product we bring in
the stock is low competition enough that
we can come in with our own unique
version and we can really compete and we
can sell a lot of products in a lot of
different niches
so really quickly let me show you how to
determine the competition and I am gonna
go into more detail on product research
in just a second but I want to give you
this right now so you could literally do
this on Amazon so if you take a generic
keyword so for example let's say it's
cedar hangers these are these little
cedar hanger things you put in your
wardrobe to take moisture out of the air
and make the Wardrobe smell better right
very simple
random product I know but a good example
of the type of product we would consider
in the marketplace approach it's not
something you maybe have ever considered
selling but the market is going to tell
you that's a that's potentially
something good that you could sell when
we look at a cedar hanger then we type
it into amazon.com for example which you
can see on screen right now and when we
return that we can see the search
results if you get search results back
at less than 1000 meaning those word
cedar hangers they show up in less than
a thousand different listings on Amazon
you know you have a potentially
interesting item that is lower in
competition now if you took say plastic
shoeboxes we're gonna put on the screen
right now you can see there's over
10,000 instances of plastic shoeboxes on
amazon.com so what that tells you is
it's probably a little bit too
competitive so less than 10,000 but less
than 1,000 ideally that's telling you
that this is a potentially interesting
item I'll give you that really quickly
just so you can get a feel for that but
I'm going to give you the different
steps involved in part research in just
a second
okay so let's break down than a $10,000
income on Amazon because that's where
you're here today you want to learn how
to replace your income by selling
products on Amazon so we start out with
the $10,000 monthly net profit and the
first thing we're gonna do is divide
that by 30 to get the daily net profit
required to get to that $10,000 so
divided in how we get to three hundred
and thirty three dollars in net profit
every single day the next thing we want
to do is say what's an average net
profit we're gonna make every time we
make a sale so let's go with five
dollars just to keep it really simple
so we take the five dollars divide it
into the daily profit and we can then
see if we make 66 sales per day we're
gonna achieve our numbers and we're
gonna get to ten thousand dollars every
single month in income now let's imagine
we have five different products now
let's divided in again and we can now
see when we have five products we
divided into the menís sales we need per
day that's gonna come out to 13 sales
per product per day to achieve our 333
dollars which is then gonna help us
achieve our 10,000 dollars in monthly
net profit which is also classified as
potential income for you so what we're
gonna do finally now to really make this
simple for you we're gonna take those 13
sales per product per day we're gonna
divide it now across five different
Amazon markets so let's imagine you're
selling in amazon.com Amazon Dakota UK
Germany France and Italy for example
just five different Amazon markets we
divided in and that was gonna tell us
that every single day if we make just
less than three sales per product per
day in each country that's gonna come
right back up again to bring out our
numbers that we're looking for which is
333 dollars net profit per day which is
gonna get us to our 10,000 dollars per
month in income now let's just take five
thousand dollars just to really show you
how simple this can be when you let the
numbers work for you okay so we've got
five thousand dollars we divide that by
30 that's gonna get us to a hundred and
sixty six dollars per day in net profit
and we do what we did last time we then
imagine while we're making five dollars
per product sale so we divide that in
that's gonna give us how many sales per
day that we need that's gonna give us
thirty three sale
per day now we divide that in again by
five different products and that's gonna
give us seven sales per product per day
to get to our numbers of $5,000 per
month in net profit again if we divide
that over five different marketplaces
we're now at basically one sale ish per
day per product every single day making
five dollars net profit we go right back
up and that gets us to our 5,000 dollars
per month in net profit or potential
income so you can see like when you have
multiple products in multiple markets
making a small number sales per day
making the right amount of profit you
absolutely can scale up your income so
that you can quit your job and do
something like this part and eventually
full-time
now I know I've talked about these weird
products that we sell from the
marketplace approach let me just give
you some quickfire examples so that you
can imagine what we're talking about
before we get into the process of
actually finding them so the first one
is this carboy carrier I had never heard
this before in my life
but when we did some research on it we
saw it's a potentially interesting
product I'm not telling you to go and
order it right now but it's a good
example of a type of product that would
work well here why does it work well
well number one the listing is really
poor you can see the title is really
short bullets aren't great the
description is not great also you can
see the product images are really poor
as well they're just not good at all
there's two images and they're not great
at all they're not detailed or not good
and the product itself could be improved
a lot more there's no bonuses with the
item so there's no real reason to like
why would I buy this one they haven't
done anything like that
there's not even pack sizes that you can
order two of these or three of these or
more because if you think about it this
is these these products were used
actually when you're making cider
believe it or not and so people would
buy more than these but there's only one
available in this listing so that's just
some examples of what you could do to
improve this product get a better title
improve the product prove the offer and
you can easily compete with these people
and actually dominate that listing very
very simply indeed and when we search
carboy carrier in Amazon you can see the
search results are much less than 10,000
the second one kind of a funny one it's
an emergency toilet seat I know it looks
strange it's something a clip on through
a bin but again it's a similar scenario
the competition is not that high the
listing isn't that great and there is a
potential to do pack sizes and things
like that to come in and improve the
offer so like they're two just random
examples but I wanted to give you some
context because a lot of people say to
me Steven I get the marketplace approach
I get you're gonna sell those in
multiple countries but like what kinds
of products are we talking about and
honestly I would say to you mostly the
types of products that are gonna work
the best are ones you probably have
never used and when you find them on
Amazon through the process I'm gonna
show you you're gonna be like this
really sell but when the numbers tell
you they're selling you know it's
something you can look into further so
don't go for I like yoga I'm gonna sell
you
products because you know while they do
sell they're probably very competitive
these items there's nobody gonna really
compete on these in the way that other
people are competing on Amazon why
because they only make a small number of
sales per day but we know when we get
them into multiple markets that can help
us achieve what we're looking to achieve
which is freedom from our job freedom
from a lot of other things and also some
really nice passive income at the same
time
now I know we broke down the different
income levels but I want to show you a
strategy that is the entire strategy
behind what we do what marketplace
superheroes is the entire strategy
behind the marketplace approach and I
guarantee you when I break this down
it's gonna get you thinking in a much
different way than you thought before
about how Amazon works I'm more
importantly how simple Amazon can be so
let's just imagine for now you find five
simple products kind of like the
products I've just shown you a second
ago let's now imagine you sell those in
five different markets so like we talked
about
amazon.com Dakota UK Germany France
Italy those kind of markets you're
selling in multiple places then we're
making five sales per day per product
per country and we're making an average
net profit of five dollars just to keep
it really simple now when you're selling
in Amazon you might make four dollars on
an item which is fine because it's on a
percentage basis but for now it's five
dollars but don't take it as it has to
be five dollars and you can't do
anything else that's not entirely how it
works but I want to keep it simple so
you can imagine well if I've got a small
number of products in a small number of
countries walking this turn into on a
monthly basis so when we multiply that
out five by five by five by five over a
30-day period that actually comes out to
eighteen thousand seven hundred and
fifty dollars in net profit so what does
that teach us well small number of
products small number of countries
making a small number of sales that
compounds very quickly whereas if you
only sell in one Amazon market you're
not going to necessarily get that
compounding effect and that enables us
to sell much less competitive items much
less trendy items items that most people
will never consider selling because most
people are trying to find what are the
products that make the most number of
sales but let me only sell those but if
you flip it and you go for simple items
and you sell lots of them you can see
how we can really simplify your life and
change the game and with that said we're
gonna jump into the product research
strategy and really blow your mind but
just how simple it is
all right so let's get into product
research now we're not gonna have time
to go into our entire research strategy
right now because it would take us a lot
longer
but I'm gonna give you a really solid
overview so you have a really good
understanding of how this works okay so
the first thing we're gonna do we're
gonna go to amazon.com and then we're
gonna go to the shop all departments
area and we're gonna go into a product
category okay there's lots of different
categories you can look through them
yourself we're not gonna go with the
obvious ones that we wouldn't go into
like you know Kindle and stuff like that
we're gonna go with a product category
I'm all we're gonna do then is we're
gonna find the top 100 bestsellers in
that category now why do we start there
number one they are the products that
are selling right now on Amazon and
they're selling the best obviously we're
typically never gonna sell any of these
products I know you might be saying well
why do we start there we start there to
create product ideas so we click through
these different products and the top 100
we scroll down on the screen and we look
at what our other products people bought
that are relating to this item then we
open those in new tabs and we start to
look at okay how well are these selling
we're now looking at what we call the BS
are within Amazon which is the best
seller rank okay and in amazon.com
typically we're looking for anything
with less than 20,000 BSR that's a
product that we would say is in range
now if it's over 2,000 BSR typically
it's getting a little more competitive
but just to keep it simple today it was
less than 20,000 you can say to yourself
that is in range that's something I can
look at further we then take the keyword
of that product so we take the generic
keyword so let's say it was like a Dutch
oven liner that's a product we've looked
at before we take that keyword we then
open a new tab we put it into Amazon and
we see how many search results come back
if it's less than a thousand like we
talked about before we now know that is
potentially interesting we should take
it further we should find suppliers we
should figure out the profitability of
the items that's how we start and you
can find a lot of product ideas doing
that maybe you're wondering why are we
not using a software tool the reason we
don't use software tools for our
research process is simple when you use
a tool most people are looking for the
most competitive items number one
therefore they don't find these we
call hidden gem products the second
thing is when you use a tool it's really
easy to get lazy you don't learn the
market in-depth you're just looking at a
tool and the tool is feeding you back
some information that you've asked for
whereas when you go through Amazon you
start to see the relationship between
products you start to learn a lot more
about what's selling what's not selling
and you can get to a place where we are
now or like I can look at a product and
I can pretty much sense straightaway
whether that's gonna be interesting or
not in order to build that $0.06 though
it takes time it takes practice and this
is a really good way to get started just
know software go through find product
ideas that's how we get started and
that's how we simply validate whether or
not something is too competitive or not
so we cover two steps there finding and
validating now the third step what we're
looking to do is we're looking to find a
way to improve the existing offers that
are on Amazon right now so let's just
imagine waiter Dutch oven liner we type
it into Amazon we can see all the
different products that are available
for that keyword what we're looking for
here is go into the customer reviews of
that product and we want to find the two
and one star reviews the reason we want
to do that is we want to see what are
people complaining about was the quality
poor was there things that they needed
extra that weren't included was the pack
size too small all these things we want
to identify at this point because it's
gonna inform our next step so we go
through customer reviews and we start
noting them what are the things people
said they didn't like and on the other
side then we find what are the things
people said they did like and we find
those in the four and five star reviews
so we build a little list of those
things and we now have almost like a
shopping list of ideas that we can take
when we're sourcing the product to find
a better version of it and that brings
us on to step number four we're gonna go
to Alibaba typically sometimes people
use sourcing agents but we'll just take
what Alibaba for now and again we would
go to Alibaba and we would start trying
to find what suppliers out there right
now are offering say Dutch oven liners
so we search that in there and we start
finding the different suppliers we then
want to communicate with two to three
different suppliers it can take more
depending on what happens when you start
communicating and we want to find out
do they offer and do they produce a
product that takes in all the things
people said they didn't like about an
item are these people producing these
better versions of the product in other
words is the quality better than what's
on Amazon right now etc so that shopping
list becomes important because when you
communicate with one of these suppliers
you can stipulate these are the things
that I really want with this product is
this something you can do for me or you
already do and that is really good
because you're gonna make sure then when
you get your samples which is the next
stage that the product is up to scratch
and something that's going to work for
you and your business that brings us to
the next stage we're now going to order
samples from the supplier this can be
kind of costly but do not skip this step
it's really important that you do this
because you want to test the quality and
you want to actually purchase the
product on Amazon which you found that
was almost your seed item as we would
call them you purchase that you bring in
your sample you test one against the
other and you see is this better quality
than the one that's already selling and
you see are all the things that are
wrong with this product actually right
with this one this is important because
you're gonna make sure when your mom
comes in it's not gonna get bad reviews
it's gonna be healthy for your business
and it's gonna parry your business on
for a long time and so step six at that
point we've got our sample we've tested
it we never want to go back to the
supplier and negotiate what we call our
ml q less than ml q order we call it a
trial order right and so an ml q is the
minimum order that the supplier will
accept from you you don't want to order
that straight away though because you
want to test it in the market so we try
to order 60% or less than the ml q the
supplier is offering and again we have a
whole process for how we do that in our
programs haven't got time really they
have to show you all the scripts and
stuff like that but that is what we do
and then we're gonna test the item in
the market now they likely will say your
cost price is gonna be a little bit
higher now because you're trying to
order less than we would like to produce
it's totally normal
also remember you're looking to put your
own brand on the item as well so
whenever you say that it's likely that
supplier will say in order for me to put
your brand on it and order less and give
you less I'm gonna have to charge you
more this is fine this is something you
want to do in your first orders because
you want to test to make sure the
products gonna work so again we have
profitability calculators that you'll be
plugging all your numbers into
you can see him on screen right now if
they kind of look like it's gonna tell
you your exact profitability before you
bring it in it doesn't matter if you're
not making a lot of money on your first
order because you're validating this is
going to work now typically the price
that they quote you it's not gonna be so
high that you're not making any money
it's likely just gonna be you're making
less than you'd like to be making and on
that point well we always look for when
we're selling a product on Amazon is
that we're at least doubling the value
of her original investment that's really
really important so every time you make
a sale you're turning $1 into $2 after
all the COS events have been paid for
half to Amazon and to everything else
and so then it's just a matter of
getting your products from the supplier
over to a pre Amazon location and
sending a quantity of those products
into stock on Amazon then the good news
is we've devised a lot of ways to make
this really easy a marketplace
superheroes we actually have our own
warehouses in the US and Australia in
Europe as well to manage all of this for
you so don't worry if you're thinking
I'm gonna have to go and find all these
different things we can absolutely help
you with stuff like that no problem at
all I just want you to know that we have
that there but if even if we didn't have
those things it's just a matter of
finding a freight forwarder bringing
your products into the stock and getting
them into Amazon this is all stuff that
we'll cover in detail at a later time
but just so you know that's where we're
going and it's a lot simpler than it
sounds trust me
so that's a very quick overview of how
the entire process works how you can
replace your income on Amazon we showed
you that we broke that down in really
good detail we showed you the types of
products that you should be looking at
we also showed you the process for how
we find those products we showed you how
we speak to suppliers how we connect
with them all of that in this one video
I hope you really enjoyed it I hope you
got a really good sense of how all the
pieces work in this thing and of course
you're probably thinking well I'm gonna
need a little bit more to actually put
all this together and that's something I
hope to be able to provide you in future
