My YouTube Setup And Camera Setup For Recording YouTube Videos

what's up everyone Stefan here from
project life master comm in this video
I'm going to reveal to you my entire
youtube setup and camera recording setup
for recording YouTube videos now had a
lot of people that have asked me this
over the years wanting to know what
equipment that I use and how do I set
everything up so in this video I'm gonna
be completely transparent I'm gonna hold
nothing back and show you exactly the
equipment and a setup that I use now if
you've been following me since 2012
then you'll have seen the quality of my
videos improve immensely and the reason
for that is because I'm always growing
I'm always improving I'm always learning
I'm investing in higher level higher
quality camera equipment but keep in
mind when you're first starting out you
don't need to have all these expensive
cameras and on some of the things I'm
going to show you you know when I first
started out I started with a little
digital camera and I use my iPhone a lot
of the time as well and my MacBook and
just use that for recording and starting
off to my youtube videos I believe that
the content and your energy your passion
your enthusiasm who you are behind the
camera is the most important thing and
sometimes you know having poor camera
equipment can somewhat be an advantage
because raw is real when you don't have
this amazing equipment and stuff like
that this amazing quality sometimes
people can't necessarily relate to that
it becomes a little bit further away
from their reality and so if you can
have videos that are raw and real that's
great as well so don't let any of this
hold you back thinking that you need to
know it all with film recording or you
need to have the best equipment out
there I still use my iPhone I still use
my macbook webcam as well you know I
still use you know GoPro when I'm in my
car driving so you don't need to have
the best you just need to get started
now with that being said I'm actually
gonna switch scenes right now and switch
cameras to my iPhone and from my iPhone
I'm actually going to show you the
camera that I'm recording this on right
now as well as the other cameras that I
have and it's my entire setup and all
the accessories all the things that I
use as well and how did how does my
entire process how I do everything okay
so I'm gonna switch cameras and
soon okay so right now I'm recording us
on my iPhone and what you're looking at
is my living room which is where I
recorded the previous video now before I
show you my camera equipment and all
that fun stuff I first want to explain
to you the importance of location and
lighting now anytime that you feel may
better make sure that you take time to
prepare in advance of setting up the
right location meaning you want to make
sure that you have a good background
behind you you want to make sure that
there's no distractions you want to make
sure that it's fairly quiet so that you
can record comfortably and you want to
make sure that you have good lighting
now you can use lamps and lights and you
can buy those in Amazon and I'll have a
blog posts or some links below all the
different equipment that I haven't used
however anytime you can use natural
lighting you always want to take
advantage of that so as you can see I'm
really blessed here in my apartment to
have a lot of natural lighting I live
here on the 40th floor and I have these
huge windows that bring in a lot of
natural light and so it's always very
challenging you to film and record
yourself against the light because their
face will always look dark and you're
gonna have to use a lot of artificial
lamps and light some light up your face
so I always use natural sunlight
whenever I can just because it makes
them much much easier now in terms of
background you know it always changes
but I like to fill them in different
locations just to switch it up so that
you know it looks different every time
for myself and for my subscribers when
I'm traveling I like to set up a good
location that's fairly quiet it has a
nice background and has no distractions
I feel at times where there's other
people that will come up to you and
interrupt you and it's just very
frustrating for this background here
I've actually got on my TV it's set up
for my macbook and there's our cable
that you can use that can connect your
MacBook to your TV and it's basically
just using keynote which is like
PowerPoint and having a slide on it with
my logo so sometimes I'll have a
background like this which is kind of
cool I also sometimes use a flip charts
or a whiteboard to demonstrate certain
things
let's jump into the camera so I'm
actually gonna shoot this as you can see
right now I'm recording against the
light but if I actually flip this around
don't notice that it looks a lot better
and when I use the light to my advantage
so this is the Panasonic gh4 and I love
this camera it's really high quality it
can shoot in 4k which is really really
high quality and high resolution I used
to have the Canon t4i and I upgraded to
this one I like this one a lot better I
think it's around fifteen hundred to two
thousand dollars I'm not entirely sure
but I'll have links to on Amazon so you
can find out the lens is separate I like
to have different types of lenses this
is a twelve thirty five millimeter lens
I like to have different lenses because
it allows you to do a lot more with your
shooting play around the quality of it
the focus the angles of it so having
different lenses is really useful the
lenses are really valuable and really
important you know you might change your
camera over the years but your lenses
are basically tools you're going to keep
around for for a very long time in terms
of my sound quality what I use for my
audio I'm just going to unmount this it
is a lavender mic which is the sine
Howser GW 100 and this basically this
receiver connects to your camera through
the mic Jack and I just mount it here on
the top of my camera and the other level
here I have right here in my pocket
which is right here and there's a
microphone attached the other side which
I just attached to my shirt okay so this
is the mic they're going to have on you
and it links to the receiver right here
and and therefore your camera can
capture the audio with the sound now
another cool thing that I have is right
here attached to my camera right here
this is an AC adapter and this basically
connects to the back the battery port
and it goes all the way to the wall and
I found this really useful for filming
indoors because you always sometimes
worry if you're recording for a few
hours but your
every dime so having an AC adapter is
what will allow you to record for long
periods of time which I typically do
another thing that I have here on the
side is the memory card I always use 64
gigabyte memory cards turn that upside
down 64 gigabytes it allows me to store
a lot more data on it especially again
if you're recording for a long period of
time
you don't want your memory card to get
full and I usually have backed up memory
cards as well if doing a lot of
recording and I want to store them on
two different memory cards so that's
what I use for my memory cards let's go
to the my second camera I have two
cameras but you don't need to I have two
for a multi camera shooting which is
might be a little bit more advanced for
you but I recommend start off with one
and as you get more advanced you can
have a second camera which is really
useful for editing if you want to shoot
a bunch of takes from different angles
and makes a lot easier for the editing
and editing process but for this camera
as you can see is the exact same camera
as other ones the Panasonic gh4
and I wanted to keep the consistency the
same and I already know a lot about this
camera and how to use it so I just
wanted to keep it simple however I have
it completely different lens on this
camera okay another thing is the tripod
so right here you can see is my tripod
which stands the camera up you can buy
some fairly inexpensive tripods this
one's a little bit more expensive the
things are at $600
this one's really lightweight and really
compact which is really useful because I
like to travel and you need something
that's really light that can fold up
when you want to travel so this is the
tripod that I use however you don't
really need a really expensive one
here's another one that I have which is
much cheaper and you know I mean I
remember when I first started filming I
just used a stack of books so you
definitely don't even need a tripod or a
really nice camera you can just
basically just get started with anything
don't let anything hold you back from
starting to record okay over here I'm
gonna show you some more camera
equipment that I have this here is my
GoPro
zero four and I use this for recording
typically when I'm in my car but also if
I'm gonna do any extreme fun stuff this
here is a suction mount so I can mount
this on my windshield on my dash on my
car and I can record YouTube videos when
I'm driving which is really cool and
it's another way to leverage yourself if
you're gonna be recording videos there's
a few other accessories that come with
the GoPro as well one that I have right
here this little cord this cord allows
me to hook up my sign Heiser w100 mic a
lavalier mic to the GoPro so this will
help me with the sound quality the GoPro
has a built-in mic but I want to make
sure my sound quality is really good and
I guess the last thing I'll show you
right here is this thing you're probably
seeing this before you know what it is
this is a selfie stick and I use this
just with my iPhone for a lot of the
recording that I do because sometimes
it's not always practical to carry
around camera equipment with you and
have you're not always gonna have your
expensive camera and your tripod and all
that sort of stuff
and oftentimes it's a pain in the butt
setting all that stuff up but if I'm
traveling and if I'm you know out in the
boat or whatever I'll bring my selfie
stick and my iPhone and if I want to
record a video I'll just pull this out
this folds out and it connects as well
to the port on my iPhone and I can use
this to record a lot of my videos so you
don't need to have perfect quality
videos all the time in fact I find it to
be really useful to switch it up because
it kind of shows subscribers a different
look and feel all the different videos
that I have so that's my camera
equipment set up I'll have a blog post
that will have all the links and all the
different camera equipment that I have I
use my macbook to edit my videos I use
iMovie for that but honestly I don't
even adit my videos anymore actually
have an assistant that does all that for
me to edit some that uploads them to
YouTube optimizes them does all that for
me so at a certain point once you start
making money you want to leverage
yourself as much as possible
I pulled it purely now just record
videos and I'm the content creation guy
that's my skill set that's what I'm good
at and I just do that and send all the
video files to my assistant and then
they take care of all the rest so
hopefully this video has helped you in
some way I want to thank you again make
sure to leave a comment below let me
know if there's any questions and I'll
talk to you soon
you
