'no share with you an important
productivity tip that's gonna allow you
to get so much more done and this is a
tip that i'm sure you already know i
know i know it myself and i've even done
it I'm sure you have also but I really
want to re-emphasize it because there's
a lot of power behind it now I'm gonna
share to you guys a story just with my
own life in my life I have these goals
and these projects that are really
important for me to get done and I'm
these projects are ones that require a
tremendous level of energy creativity
focus and massive action to really
complete them but I know that if I do
complete these goals or these projects
it's gonna change my life for the better
you know I'm gonna make a lot more money
I'm gonna be able to impact so many more
people it's gonna make a difference and
it's really gonna change my life for the
better
some of these projects are things like
launching and creating a new product new
video training courses that I want to
create and just some really big
important things that are just gonna
significantly increase my business my
growth my impact and my money so those
are those projects over here but what I
found though was I wasn't really taking
a lot of action towards them in fact I
was a little bit over here where I was
just kind of doing these maintenance
tasks you know or tasks that you know
they were growing my business but
definitely not at the pace of launching
a new product or wanting this really
high leverage important things and some
of these maintenance tasks were you know
checking my email and responding to
people back and forth or they were you
know logging into Facebook and and
posting things and you know even you
know putting up new blog posts and
videos and things like that and coaching
clients and different appointments and
meetings that I have and you know just
all the little maintenance things that
they do they definitely do grow my
business and expand and help me make
more money more of an impact without a
doubt but they weren't the high leverage
things they weren't the most important
things that would significantly grow my
business and make me a lot more money
and so when I start to look at you know
why wasn't
taking action on these important things
and there's a few reasons for it one I
was making it too big in my head to
actually achieve and go after and so my
first tip really is to chunk things down
into more bite-sized achievable
achievable goals achievable outcomes for
yourself achievable action items because
when you break it down then you start to
see okay these are the steps involved in
achieving that and it doesn't look as
big or as scary as when it's just in
your head and it's just this you know
monstrous gigantic goal or task that
you're gonna end up procrastinating on
whereas the ones over here they're a lot
smaller you know checking your email and
log into Facebook and doing all those
little employments and stuff there are a
lot smaller easily achievable tasks that
you get a sense of progress from also
you feel you're like yeah cool I'm
feeling good you know making progress
I'm taking action and stuff but again
these aren't the things they're gonna
get you the biggest results in your life
and in your business the other thing
that I noticed as well is that some days
I'd be like okay I want to I want to
work on this big project but I wouldn't
even get started primarily because I
didn't feel that I had enough time to
actually really get a lot done with it
so an example is let's say that it's uh
you know eleven o'clock in the morning
and I have an appointment at one o'clock
one p.m. to meet my personal trainer
let's say or I have a I don't know an
interview that I'm doing or a coaching
call or I've got to meet with a friend
for coffee or whatever it might be and
I'll have a two-hour window to work on
this project what I found though was I
wasn't really even starting it or taking
action on it primarily because I didn't
believe that even if I started it I
wouldn't be able to finish it and I
don't want to start something and get
into this flow state and start you know
making progress towards that get this
momentum and then then have to go to
this meeting that I have or go to the
gym or have that be interrupted in some
way so I noticed that if I only had a
two-hour chunk or a 3-hour chunk or
whatever
that was a bill available to me I
wouldn't even get started on this task
or this project because I didn't believe
that I could get it done and so instead
I would spend my time doing emails and
just kind of those smaller tasks those
maintenance tasks that I was talking
about instead of just really starting on
the big ones and so I got to a point
where I was like you know I'm enough of
all these little tasks these little
tasks over to here they're gonna get
done okay they will get done without a
doubt my emails will get responded to my
Facebook all these meetings and stuff
they will happen but these are of lower
importance to me right now they're lower
priority on my list and for some reason
I was treating them as higher priority I
was doing you know my emails in the
morning and I was you know doing all
these things that's high priority tasks
so what I decided to do was I booked a
day and this whole day I said there's
gonna be no cell phones no Facebook I'm
not gonna have any clients or any
appointments or interviews I'm not gonna
go to the gym I'm not gonna do any of
that stuff this whole day is it going to
be focused on working on this project
which was this video training series
okay and so I put all that aside okay no
cell phone no Facebook no email no none
of that stuff but all that aside if I
got all the stuff done then yes I could
check all that stuff later in the
evening but I'm not gonna use or focus
on any of that stuff
and what happened was pretty amazing I
started recording this video training I
got this momentum I got into this flow
state where all of a sudden time just
disappeared all of a sudden I was just
getting so much done I was recording you
know one thing after another and and I
just didn't have this that's constraint
on myself that had an appointment to go
to you or whatever might be I was able
to get so much done because of the
momentum that I was gaining from that
and it was pretty remarkable because in
that day I think I worked about nine you
know nine or ten hours just recording
content you know working on this project
that I was kind of procrastinating on
and in that nine or 10 hours I was able
to finish the entire thing that entire
thing
one day nine to ten hours of work and it
really got me thinking wow that's what
we're capable of
you know we're capable of that level of
productivity of completing that high
leverage task a product of course
whatever it is in a short period of time
if we just focus on it if we immerse
ourselves in that task as opposed to
working on it you know one hour here or
30 minutes here every day if you just
immerse yourself and you get into that
flow State you've fully focus on it it's
pretty remarkable or capable of in fact
you know one thing that I'm gonna be
implementing in my life is going on
these little work retreats you know
where I literally go and I take a road
trip you know and I stay in a hotel
somewhere that's just in a secluded area
that just has Wi-Fi and if I were just
to spend a weekend just focus on a
really important task with no email
Facebook cell phones
none of that stuff and I just fully
immerse myself in that task I'd be able
to get so much done I'll be able to
launch a new product every weekend if I
did that you know so it's pretty
remarkable that level of productivity
that we can have but it comes down to
focus and immersion and that's really
what my tip is for you is make sure that
you schedule in these really important
tasks and schedule them to get them done
in a day or two submerse yourself in
completing it it's a lot more beneficial
for you to do it that way as opposed to
doing it in small chunks here or there I
even notice notice for myself recording
these videos I'm a lot more productive
just recording a bunch of videos in a
row scheduling a couple hours just to
shoot videos as opposed to shooting a
new video every day because each time I
do that I have to set up my camera
equipment I'm gonna make sure
everything's focused the sound quality
works and I had to put myself in a great
state where I'm creative I'm in the flow
and I can communicate effectively to the
camera but if I just schedule five hours
on a record video after video after
video after video I get into that flow
state and I'm actually able to immerse
myself in it and get a lot more done and
do a better job of it
so that's really what
productivity tip is for you is it's
being a master at eliminating
distractions you know your cell phone
email Facebook all those sort of things
are distractions for you even a lot of
appointments that you might have you
know can be distractions as well and you
have to really learn how to say no to a
lot of those things that come up in your
life and or at least schedule them later
on in the day in the evening time funny
enough that day that I've recorded nine
or ten hours I ended up still going to
the gym I ended up still checking my
email and responding to people and
getting all those things done I still
got that stuff done but it was after
that that that all the progress that I
made towards recording and working on
that high-leverage
action so those things will always get
done no matter what you don't have to
put effort or willpower into checking
your email or going on Facebook they
will get done so instead use whatever
willpower focus energy you have on the
highest leverage more important tasks
and then when that's done then have your
appointments or meetings or Facebook or
email all that sort of stuff and you
know return those voicemails or whatever
it might be but do that later in the day
once you've completed the high leverage
important tasks if you do that you'll be
able to achieve so much more you'll be
so much more productive and I'll make a
huge difference in your life I promise
