to day I'm gonna share with you what I
wish that I knew when I first started my
affiliate marketing business now I've
been doing affiliate marketing for over
ten years now
I've had a lot of success with affiliate
marketing it's one of my favorite ways
of making money online is a core part of
my business with project life mastery
and I've done many different things
online I sell courses online I do events
and masterminds I sell physical products
on Amazon I publish books on Amazon I
have a software there's many things that
I've done online but a Philly marketing
money because I don't have to create a
product I don't really have to be the
expert I don't have to deliver the
product I don't have to focus on the
sales page and delivering the product
and customer support and have a team to
do it I can just focus on just sending
traffic to someone else send traffic
just someone else through the affiliate
link that they give me and I can earn a
commission from it so it's a very simple
business model and it's great for a lot
of people that are just getting started
but over the last 10 years there's a lot
that I've learned that I can shed some
light on for you if you're just getting
started things that I wish that I knew
when I started that after being at this
for over ten years now there's a few
things I'd love to share with you so the
first thing that I wish that I knew when
I first started affiliate marketing is
that it's a lot harder okay it's a lot
harder and takes longer than I
originally thought
okay now I'm not sure if you can relate
to this you know most people I think
when they start a business they start
really anything new not just an
affiliate marketing business but most
often we underestimate really what its
gonna take okay we don't know the
process it we're kind of naive getting
into something right because we don't
know the process we don't have any
experience doing it we've never done it
before so our only references really
that we have is we're like an outsider
looking in looking at these other people
that have done it and we just gonna look
at them and you think well if they can
do it I can do it and that's true you
know I believe that anyone that anyone
else can do that we can do it as well we
can model and learn from them so they
paved the way for us but we often don't
realize really what it took for that
person to be successful we don't realize
the hard work that they put in behind
the scenes that we don't see or not you
know acknowledging in any way we're just
kind of seeing the outside success and
results that they're having so one of my
favorite sayings is that we get rewarded
in public for what we
in private so we're not seeing the
private work and the sacrifice and the
hours and the time and the learning and
the mistakes and the failures that these
other people are making that have got
them to that point where we all look up
to that person and they're a success
story and an inspiration you know I know
with what I do
it might seem like it's easy but you
know there's a lot of things behind the
scenes in my life in business failures
and challenges that I've gone through
that helped me get to where I'm at today
so you know the realization of its you
know kind of going into something
realizing it is gonna be hard I mean
especially if you're a brand new to it I
mean if you're brand you've never done
it before then there's new things we're
gonna learn and you're gonna make
mistakes you're gonna have to go through
that learning curve and most often it's
gonna take you longer than you
originally thought you know I know for
me with most schools that I set for
myself I always think okay I'm gonna get
this done in a month or three months and
I'm gonna launch this product or I'm
gonna create this funnel on the launch a
new website it's gonna take this this
amount of time and then sure enough it
always ends up taking longer so I've
learned I've learned that now with
myself just you know how much longer
most often it takes because really when
you set a goal when you get into it
you're just speculating you're guessing
you're projecting how long it's gonna
take but you don't really know really
what's involved and how long that goal
is gonna take for you to achieve because
again you've never done it before but as
you've been through it and you gain
experience then you're able to project
things and plan things it kind of know
more about what to expect so really
understanding that I think is a key
thing and by the way it's just not for
affiliate marketing it's really anything
in life I mean I remember when I first
wanted to learn Spanish I thought you
know how hard could it be right I mean
there's millions billions of people that
speak Spanish you know I can learn that
too I can do it of course and that's
true that I could learn Spanish but most
often I thought it wouldn't take that
long wouldn't take that much work pretty
easy I was gonna get this app that's
gonna teach me how to speak Spanish and
then sure enough you come to the rude
awakening that it's a lot harder than
you thought it's gonna take more of your
time if you really want to learn Spanish
to be fluent you got to practice it
every day you've got to have
conversations with people you might have
to hire a tutor to learn you're gonna
have to try to talk to people in Spanish
and you're gonna sound like an idiot to
them and you know mispronounce things
and everything I have to go through that
learning curve same thing I remember
learning salsa dancing and I thought I'd
how hard could it be
and then sure enough you realize you got
to practice it a lot right you got a you
know most often you're the person in the
salsa dance class and you feel like an
idiot right you're looking yourself in
the mirror and you can't keep up with
everyone else so it's really the same
thing with anything and most people I
think they struggle because they have a
certain expectation and it's not met
early on and they get discouraged and
they give up instead of realizing no
it's gonna it's gonna be tough it's
gonna be hard it's a process I've got to
commit and go through it okay that's the
first thing I think the second thing is
changing the mindset from short-term
gratification to long-term gratification
because you can't go into a business
thinking it's a get-rich-quick it does
not exist guys does not exist I don't
care what anyone says does not exist
there's maybe some people out there that
have made money fast and get amazing
results fast but most often you don't
realize there's a lot of factors
involved in that that person that you
might see that's an incredible success
story and whatever 30 days they
transform their body or they build their
affiliate marketing business but maybe
before that they already had a lot of
experience maybe before that or maybe
they had a mentor maybe they had money
that they could invest or maybe they've
you know maybe they're just an anomaly
right there's some people that's luck
out sometimes and they just make
everything goes perfectly for them and
it leads to success but most people it's
not that way right we're gonna make
mistakes we're gonna learn all of that
sort of stuff so you have to embrace the
short-term gratification okay if you're
just doing this to get rich quick what's
gonna happen is you're gonna go at it
for a month to three months you're not
gonna make the money you're gonna get
discouraged give up and you're gonna
move on to the next thing and you're
gonna suffer from the shiny object
syndrome that so many people do when you
jump from one thing to the next to the
next to the next and you never master
anything you never get success whereas
if you had just stuck with that one
first thing from the beginning you'd
have success by now okay if you just
stuck with it long enough so you got to
make sure you don't fall into that trap
you can't go at this thinking I'm just
gonna you know this is gonna solve all
my problems all my financial problems
it's not okay if you're struggling
financially get a job get something
where you can trade your time for money
because an online business you're not
trading your time for money you're
giving time time time time time effort
energy with no money no financial return
in the short term only the potential for
return financially long term
okay so you've got to delay the
gratification you got to be willing to
maybe create content and YouTube or a
blog or social media put it out there
and go through the the point of not
getting any results nobody watching you
or consuming it but you learning and
just trying to get better and then the
results follow from that those that are
willing to stick with it so it's almost
like you're planting seeds in the soil
you come back a week later you think
where's my plant I'm not seeing any
results no that's not how it works you
plant the seeds you come back you water
it consistently you keep planting more
seeds some of those seeds will sprout
and blossom and turn into results
they'll make you money others won't okay
so you have to have the patience and
understand the process of building a
successful business which takes time or
money all of that to actually get to
where you want to go other thing that I
wish that I knew is that it's too hard
to do it on my own okay and I remember
when I first got into building a
business I thought I was gonna figure
this out on my own and I spent a few
years trying to figure it out on my own
with no results maybe you can relate I
it's almost like I was too stubborn in a
way to ask for help or to get help and
never I always refused to pay for
something I'm not gonna pay for a course
the information is pretty out there why
would I pay for it realizing that you
know I'm so scattered and I was
scattered and lost with all the free
information out there I didn't all of
it's conflicting with each other I never
knew how to piece together step by step
what to actually do and I didn't even
know who was learning from if there give
me the right advice the right help if
it's gonna be relevant to my situation
and beyond that even when it's free I
wasn't even taking action with it
because I didn't value it enough and I
realized when you actually paid for
something or you're accelerating the
process you're learning from other
people that I've already achieved what
you want and it's just so much easier
and faster and it's so obvious but yet I
know for me and I struggled with that I
just was living more in an egocentric
place I think I didn't have the humility
I didn't humble myself enough to realize
you know what even though it might cost
money to buy a course or to get a mentor
to get help the money is actually saving
me time and money long-term right versus
if I try to go about this up myself the
failures the disappointments the lost
money and time
I can never get that back but instead if
I could be smart enough to invest a
little bit into the right resources and
help I can succeed so much faster so I
wish I knew that when I started today
and you know really to get to where I'm
at when I had that breakthrough I
invested a lot into myself man I invest
in all the courses and programs that I
can I get mentors I go to seminars
several seminars a year and events I'm a
part of mastermind groups all of that
because I understand the value of that
that's how you really compress decades
in the days right you're really paying
for speed you're paying for a shortened
learning curve because why go through
the experience on your own when someone
else has already done it and you know if
it took me for example years to figure
it out and I could package together the
best of what I've learned and give that
to you and that could save you years
then doesn't that make sense to do that
rather than go through the years that I
went through I mean if you want to go
through the years that I went through or
someone else went through be my guest
but it's not necessary it's not
necessary to do that when things are
getting easier and faster today effort
than ever before because people are
sharing their experiences and they're
providing guidance and help for those
that are looking for it and that are
willing to invest in it so always learn
from other people it was one of the most
valuable things that I wish that I knew
that I know now and I don't around
with it all the next thing that I wish
that I knew was how important it is to
build a relationship with people and
value is really the key you know when I
first started a business it's all about
myself I was like I got into it and all
my goals were about me me me me me me
I'm gonna make this amount of money I'm
gonna have this lifestyle going to get
this car this house having traveled the
world did it up but it wasn't about
anyone else and I realized that that was
keeping me stuck because my shift in my
psychology is that you got to realize
the only way that you receive and you
get for yourself and you make money is
by first providing value to someone else
right it's not the other way around it's
not like you give me money and then I
give you value no it's I gotta give you
value I've got to put out good out there
on the internet I've got to serve I
gotta meet needs of other people I gotta
solve problems create valuable content
out there that I've got to be willing to
sacrifice my own needs in a way at least
in the short term to serve other people
and so the mindset is I what I wish I
knew it's not about me
that if I focus on serving other people
and helping them get what they want then
I too can have what I want right that if
I make my focus my obsess about just how
can I add value how can I create content
just give it out for free and if I do
that enough times I'm sure people are
gonna come and click on my affiliate
link and buy for me or they're gonna
check out my Prada they're gonna reach
out for help right but I think a lot of
people they're so focused just on what
they're not getting that they don't
realize that if you're not getting if
you're not receiving it's because you're
not giving enough you're not serving
enough and you might think that you're
giving you might think that you know no
no Stefan I'm putting out videos I'm
putting out vlogs and then that' but are
people consuming it are people
benefiting from it are people thanking
you for it are people reaching out to
you afterwards to say thank you so much
that video that content the blog post
really helped me in my life and thank
you you know like actually sincerely are
they thanking you for it
because they are going your audience and
the people that you attract are going to
judge and tell you determine whether or
not you have any value that you're
providing and if you're not getting that
you got to go back to the drawing board
it might mean you got to improve
yourself you got to improve your content
you got to deliver it better you got to
serve more right and when you do that
like I built my business just being a
service to other people and just you
know not even worrying about myself that
much it's trusting and having faith if I
helped enough and put out a lot of good
there it will flow back to me you know
that will just naturally occur people
have reciprocity built in and the
relationship from that long-term is the
most valuable thing
affiliate marketing successfully an or
in any business is all about long term
the long term lifetime value of a
follower of a customer right I'm not at
it for the short term so you've got to
realize you know for me I might just on
YouTube alone I've been over seven and a
half years now and I put out over a
thousand plus videos and I'm just giving
try to give so much value to other
people that when I do promote something
or share something I built so much great
goodwill you know people can sincerely
tell and feel in my heart that I'm
trying to help and serve and when I do
share something it's great it's quality
it's something that I believe in that
can truly help people and people get
that for me they know that and and
because I have that long-term
relationship I have people that bought
from me again and again and again and
again you know I'm not looking for the
one-time trans
I'm looking for a raving fan follower a
customer someone that that I can
continuously meet their needs and help
them get to where they want to go and I
can lead by my example and Who I am to
inspire and help and they can follow me
because really as an entrepreneur you're
a leader you're a leader from other
people and you got to go first right
especially when you share and promote
something as an affiliate is you got to
share what your experience with that
product was and that you believe in it
and that you can really help someone and
as a business owner as an affiliate
marketer I believe that really meeting
people's needs and we're sharing with
them products and services that can
truly benefit them and that's really
what our job is our job is really just
selling transformation your your the
products and services that you promote
as an affiliate marketer are a vehicle
of transforming this person from a less
desirable state to a happy state of what
they want and we really got to know and
care about the people that were
interacting with online if you have an
email list if you're running ads if
you're you know building content these
are other human beings that you're
communicating with and you're reaching
and for me my caring is my power because
I care about people and I know that when
you care about them you're gonna be
curious and interested to find out what
their challenges are what their goals
are and that gives you the ability to
find products or content or things that
can really help and support them based
on what they want so getting again
outside of yourself business is a
spiritual game that's the beautiful
thing about it it forces you to grow and
it forces you to give that's the only
way you ever get rewarded in business as
an affiliate marketer if it's all about
you and you making money you might make
some money doing that but it's not gonna
last
the ones that get rewarded the most are
the ones that focus on growing and
giving I know the more that I grow the
more that I give then the more money
flows to me that's how it works
I wish I knew that when I started
hopefully that's a light bulb moment for
you guys right there watching this the
other thing you know so again the
relationship is so key adding value is
so key another thing that I wish that I
knew is that to focus more on high
ticket products than low ticket products
you know you're obviously gonna make
more money as an affiliate marketer when
you promote things that are higher
ticket if you promote a product that is
a $500 product or course or a thousand
dollars or more then you're gonna get a
higher
affiliate commission from that and
finding great companies and products
that you can support that you believe in
that you benefited from that can serve
people they've got great customer
support it's you know when you believe
in something you feel it's your moral
and ethical obligation to share it you
know and for me there's a lot of things
I'm always investing in myself that I
buy and they've got affiliate programs
and I benefit I got to share it you know
I feel like I'm doing people a
disservice by not doing so but obviously
if higher ticket products can make you
more money you know I still promote low
ticket products as well because for me
it's always secondary to make money
number one is to serve so if there's a
product that's affordable that's cheaper
that's better that can meet their needs
I'll share that first and foremost
regardless of whether it's high ticket
or low ticket but if you're promoting
for example if you're just trying to
make money which you obviously do in a
business if you're gonna sustain the
business and hire people and you know be
able to grow the business you need to
make money of course too so some low
ticket products like I promote sometimes
ebooks and low ticket stuff but they're
not gonna make money from them and so
that's not that primary core parts of my
business you know you Amazon has an
affiliate program you can make some
commissions from that but most products
are gonna pay you less than 5%
Commission and they have a lot of
overhead and they're you know they're
not gonna you know gotta sell so many of
those to make a lot of money from it so
higher ticket products what I actually
find is like I like courses and training
programs and resources that are higher
ticket would actually find though is yes
you make a higher commission from that
but also it actually allows you as
affiliate marketer to create an
irresistible offer because you're
getting paid a higher Commission you can
actually support the person provide
bonuses to them when they purchase the
product through you that further helps
them it makes it even more irresistible
for them so I love finding great
products that benefited me they're
higher ticket they pay me more but then
I can provide more you know services or
products with them that can bundle
together that they also get for free by
buying that product from me so it leaves
a lot more room there also I've actually
found when people invest more into
something they value it more and they're
more likely to do something with it you
know I've promoted all different types
of products and whatnot and most often
when something's free or inexpensive
people don't value it they don't have
any skin in the game they're not
invested
other ones that notice you attract a
totally different customer and person
that actually gets results from it when
they actually pay more money for
something because now they've got
something on the line they've got skin
in the game they're more likely to take
action with it and apply it and get
results so all right I love higher
higher ticket products that I like to
find and I like to attract people and
try to reach people that you know are
the ones that are more serious and
willing to invest in that those are the
people that most often are gonna be
higher quality people to work with
versus some and I hate to say it I don't
like to judge anyone but you know
sometimes you get people that you know
they're just kind of lazy they don't do
anything with it when you know they're
buying something they're not committed
enough to it is really what it is
so that's another thing that I really
wish that I learned with this and I
think the other thing that I wish that I
learned was just you know there are so
many tools and software's and things
that can also help
I mentioned paying for help and getting
guidance and mentors and coaches and of
course is all that's really valuable but
also there's a lot of tools and software
and you know for example like I use my
affiliate marketing business click
funnels for my funnels which i think is
a must is so valuable allows me to
create a bunch of funnels to build my
email list but also use Aweber and
active campaign to build my list new
email marketing and there's a whole host
of other tools that I have and those are
things they cost a bit of money yes but
they're actually gonna make it easier
and faster for you and so one thing that
I wish that I knew was that yes there
are ways you can do this very
inexpensively and you can you know try
to cut corners and try to do these
things for free but I think that's
actually gonna hurt you more long-term
because the quality of everything is
gonna be diminished and it's gonna be
very hard to build your business and
actually what I wish I knew is that
sometimes it's better just to make sure
you're financially you're stable to
start your business like get for example
like a job like for me when I was
building my business I did like
construction work on the weekends you
know like 20 25 bucks an hour type work
I did demolitions at renovations we go
to a house I'd be there like 10 12 hour
shifts and everything and I'd get make
it you know a good amount of money in a
day or two but I was willing to do that
rather than spend that time just on my
business because I knew that money that
extra money that I was making I could
take and freaking buy click funnels and
put some that money to make me be
running
or or just kind of get further ahead in
my business rather than like if I just
spent the time the money is valuable the
money is a tool a resource that can help
you get there faster so that's one thing
that I wish that I knew is that there's
value in having a job and working some
extra hours here and there if you need
to because that money if you really
manage it correctly and you put it into
your business will help you grow your
business to get there faster so as a
business owner we got we got to
understand we got to invest into our
business time and money time isn't
enough like you got to maybe sometimes
if you have too much time I'd much
rather see a lot of people and do this
for myself where I like if I had 40
hours a week to work on my online
business I'd rather instead take 10 of
those hours and work 30 hours a week and
then put 10 hours into like maybe a
construction job or some other type of
job out there I don't care what it is
just to make some extra money so at
least I have some money to put in my
business that would be a much more
productive and effective way of building
a business than just spending all your
time on it like having the money is
useful the money can actually help you
get there faster and speed up the
process a lot more than the time that
you spend into it so that's a lot of the
things that I've learned that I wish
that I knew and hopefully I can pass
that on to you and help you and building
your affiliate marketing business and
going for a lot further with it if
