fiancee Tatiana which most of you guys
know pretty well and today we're gonna
be talking about what it really takes to
succeed with Amazon FBA because I know
many of you are interested in starting
an Amazon business many of you already
have an Amazon business and you want to
know what it takes and talk to you I
thought would be a great guest to have
today to share with you guys what it
takes most of you guys know Tatiana has
made millions of dollars now on Amazon
she sells on Shopify she's built an
incredible brand called Lux curves
I'll have her explain a little bit with
that that for you guys as well but we
also want to dive into questions that
you guys have so if you're here live

can answer your questions and dive into
that anything related to selling on
Amazon getting started maybe things that
might be holding you back we want to be
here to support you guys to make sure
that we can help you break through
whatever whatever stopping you from
creating the success and the life that

and your experience on Amazon sure hi
guys
really excited to jump on a live video
on this Friday right before we start the
weekend um so uh I started my business a
number of years ago I'm not gonna go to
my story I've got lots of videos about
that but basically I've been selling on
Amazon for a number of years now most of
my sales are not on Amazon at this point
so I needed Amazon to start my business
because I had nothing I didn't have a
brand
nobody knew my name I didn't even really
have products and so Amazon was
essential to get me started because they
have hundreds of thousands millions of
on Amazon you now have access to those
customers so Amazon was necessary to get
me started from there I decided I'm not
just gonna throw any random products on
Amazon I'm actually gonna build a brand
because there's so many benefits to
building a brand many people choose not
to build a brand because it does take a
little bit more work more time where
patience but in the long run the brand
is gonna benefit you in so many ways and
present new opportunities to you that
you just might not see right now in the
beginning stages and then once I built
enough brand presence social proof I was
able to take the majority of my
customers off of Amazon and now bring
them to my own website which is a
Shopify store where my have half of
margins are way higher so now most of my
sales are done on my website so people
always ask me should I start on Amazon
should I start on Shopify and my answer
is yes you want to start on Amazon
because again you have access to all of
Amazon's customers you can use Amazon
ads to bring yourself to the top so that
people see your listing even if you have
no reviews even if you're on the 15th
page if you invest in Amazon ads you can
be seen on the first page so there are
many advantages to getting your products
noticed and at the end of the day that's
what marketing is is making sure that
your products are being noticed because
you could have the best product in the
world but if people aren't seeing it
you're not gonna get any sales and then
when you find that you've built enough
of a customer base tour getting those
repeat clients or you're just getting
consistent sales it's your time to now
transition and not take all of your
business off of Amazon but transition
some of your customers to your website
where you can just have more control
over your customer base and your
marketing and all of that so that's
really what I've done and I think that's
probably the best route and I'm still on
Amazon and I just I I don't tell people
to go and buy my products on Amazon I
tell them to buy them on my Shopify
store because again I get the customers
emails I can market to them the way I
want and it's just a lot better so we're
gonna be answering all your questions
today and talking about what
to build a successful Amazon business
yeah and I do want to mention as well

us today and really what we want to do
before we dive into the Q&A is you want
to you want to share a few what it takes
to be successful on Amazon lightly
shared before Tatiana's you know been
stolen Amazon for the last few years
doing incredibly well with it I've been
selling on Amazon for many years as well
start with publishing books on Amazon
and then getting into physical products
so we want to share a few things for you
guys whether you're
getting started as a beginner you're
looking to start this business you want
to know you might be kind of on the
outside looking in and we're kind of
been on the inside for a few years now
so we can shares you a lot of what it
takes and we've also worked with a lot
of people now coaching them and
mentoring them to help them build their
business too so we're really here to
support you and share what shares you
guys what we've learned so that you guys
can move faster and get to where you
want to go so Tatiana what would be the
first thing that you'd say people need
in terms of what it takes to be
successful in this business well so I've
done coaching for a number of students
now and I survey people at the end of
our coaching and I and I see who's been
successful with their businesses and who
hasn't and I ask them you know what is
it what's holding you back and the
majority of people who have failed to
really start their Amazon business is
just it comes down to their level of
commitment and so I tell people there's
a difference between wanting something
and being committed to it
there's a huge difference I could want
you know a nice car I could want a great
relationship I could want to be
successful but there's a difference um
when you're committed to something you
truly will do whatever it takes to
achieve that goal and so what I found is
that the people who the difference
between the people who failed and those
who succeeded is their level of
commitment
it's from the beginning establishing
that yes there will be barriers yes
there will be hard times yes there are
gonna be things that I don't know how to
do that I'm gonna learn how to do but
because I'm committed to my success I'm
committed to building my business I'm
committed to my financial freedom I will
work through those things and I'll
figure it out if I don't know how to do
something I'll figure out the way and
that's what really makes the difference
it's never the technicalities of the
business it's never the strategies those
things are easier understood than you
might think it's usually
comes down to the mindset and that's
where people falter is just not having a
strong enough level of commitment to
their goals and and I think that's one
of the biggest things and you talked a
lot about mindset and how that holds
people back not just in business
personal life every area of life sorry
yeah no I think it's just it is so
important because you might have heard
this before I've heard it many times in
my channel that 80% of success is there
psychology it's your mindset and only
20% is a strategy and a lot of people
you know most often when they don't get
results they're blaming the strategy it
must not work Amazon doesn't work or is
because this strategy this technique
didn't work but truly if you have the
right mindset you make it work you know
because I can give you countless
examples of people from all walks of
life all stories all circumstances that
have found a way to succeed in this
business because of their mindset in
their commitment right so that level of
commitment or it's like I'm gonna go
all-in on this
I'm gonna do whatever it takes to be
successful I'm willing to put in the
time the money whatever it takes
and if I make mistakes which we all do
I'm gonna learn from it and I'm gonna
keep moving forward I'm gonna fail
forward in this process and I think
that's the first place you got to start
because that's gonna make or break the
success there's everything else that we
could share in terms of strategy and
technique and you know all that to build
your business but if you don't have that
then you're gonna struggle and I think
another piece of that to you is
confidence belief certainty I think a
lot of people they start a business and
they're like oh is this gonna work for
me or not you can't be questioning their
ability you can't be questioning the
process the more that you question
something the more that you're you're
kind of loosening that you're you're
creating a weaker belief system because
a belief is a feeling of certainty but
what something means and it's like a
tabletop that has legs and when you got
legs to support a belief it's solid but
if you start questioning yourself when
the belief that you can do this then
those legs are gonna get wobbly and
you're not gonna take action so you
really got to believe that you can do
this and one of the best ways to I think
to get that belief in that confidence is
to find role models and people that have
already done what you want to do
so yeah I mean we've got so many
interviews and content on our YouTube
channels where we interview people we
share people from all walks of life that
have been able to build their business
and the more that you find those role
models it's creating references for you
that are supporting the belief that if
they can do it then you can do it too
right so you've got to take on that
mindset and and I think also getting the
right information the right courses all
that that gives you confidence as well
going into this but if you go into a you
know a business and they're like oh I
don't know if it's gonna work for me of
you know promise it's probably a scam
it's you know it's probably it's never
gonna work out
you're gonna manifest that you're gonna
find a way to create that and then
you're gonna say oh I knew it didn't
work because you're gonna look for ways
to justify your beliefs because you've
already sabotaged it because we had
limiting beliefs going into something so
I just really think that belief and the
confidence and also like confidence
around whatever a product that you pick
because a lot of people are so scared to
take action and pull the trigger on a
product they're afraid of failure
they're afraid to make mistakes but
that's the only way you're gonna learn
as well as by being willing to take on
some of that risk and really go for it
that's the difference between your wants
and your must and Tony Robbins always
says you don't get your wants in life
you get your must and so if it's a must
you'll figure it out and I think that so
many you know touching on the references
you know a lot of people who follow my
channel and my content they followed me
because I am one of their references
they see me as oh that's a young girl
who started a business who didn't have
any business experience if she can do it
then I can too and that's why it's so
powerful to not just spoil a stephan and
i but collect other people as references
to support that belief in your life
because I understand that you're
probably watching this at home and maybe
your friends your family nobody has an
online business it's not that comment
and so it's hard to talk to people about
it and it's hard to find those beliefs
and those references in your local
vicinity so it's important to go online
and seek those people out and follow
them and really build those strong
in the process in that this works this
is real building an online business is a
real thing you can make money online
there's still people who see us
traveling or see me on the beach and
they're like that's not true like you
can't make money while you're doing all
those fun things and that's just not the
case and that's why we're so passionate
about sharing this with you because we
live such an abundant amazing lifestyle
thanks to our online businesses I
personally feel indebted to share my
knowledge of my the information I've
learned with you so that you can also
create that lifestyle for yourself so
the second thing that is important let
me actually just kind of share one more
piece there too is like in terms of also
I think what it takes is being willing
to take on a risk because there you know
there is some risk we're not willing to
risk anything that's gonna be no reward
and I think a lot of people if you over
value calmly comfort and security then
don't be an entrepreneur because you
know basically be an entrepreneur and
starting a business means being willing
to go to uncertainty and the unknown and
being willing to take on some risk and
losing a little bit at times as well so
I think that's an important piece of
that mindset and then also like the
mindset of willing to like always trying
to grow and improve and learn I know for
us like that's one thing that's always
constant our lives we're always growing
and improving we're you know going to
courses we're going to books or listen
to podcasts we go to seminars a few
times a year or a part of mastermind
groups we're networking with people
we're always learning you know having
that thirst for knowledge and growth and
trying to get better that's something
that you always need because there's so
much to learn you're gonna you're gonna
realize that soon enough once you get
into this business there's so many
different directions and past that you
can go and so much to learn especially
when it comes to internet marketing that
you know the ones that really succeed
are the ones that are willing to keep
learning it's not enough just to do one
course or just watch a few YouTube
videos like you got it it's a
never-ending journey of growing and
learning and mastery so that you're
improving their skills you're improving
your business you're improving your
product or improving yourself they're
improving all of that so I think people
that that are the most successful
they're always trying to learn grow for
sure and I
a lot of messages from people saying
Tatyana I just I don't know how to do
social media marketing I don't know how
to do email marketing I don't know how
to do this or that and my message to
them is well you have to learn like you
don't know how to do something until you
do it and so that's again the level the
difference between wanting something and
being committed not enough people are
actually committed to achieving their
goals because if they were they would be
willing to do all the things that they
have to do in order to learn the things
that they don't know right now and I
like what you said about the risk thing
because this is huge to so many people
not to discourage you but not everyone
is meant to be an entrepreneur not
everyone is able to tolerate that risk
you know what you need to know what your
threshold is if we look at these mega
entrepreneurs like Elon Musk Jeff Bezos
Bill Gross these guys they are just
next-level
but their risk tolerance is insane I
would not be able to have that much risk
but as an entrepreneur you that's
inevitable you need to be able to take
on those risks and if you know that you
really value comfort and you like
certainty then it might not be for you
it might be challenging or you might
have to hire someone who is an
entrepreneur to run your business for
you because if you're an artist and I
know you have videos talking about the
difference between entrepreneurs artists
and operators if you're an artist you
can wear all the hats but it's only
gonna last for so long and in order to
scale your business you're gonna need
the entrepreneur the artist and the
operator and so yeah we won't get into
that that's a negative awesome okay so
mindset is the first thing that you need
okay we're gonna dive into questions a
little bit later so make sure that you
stick around and by the way you agree
with the mindset component give us a
thumbs up here on YouTube we appreciate
that what's the second thing second
thing
investing in a training program and I
know you saw this coming
because we talk about it all the time if
you're serious about this business show
it
invest in a training program why try and
learn how to do something that you've
never done before by paving your own
path it just doesn't make sense the
slowest route to success is trying to do
it yourself the fastest route is
learning from people who have already
achieved things that you want to achieve
and learning what worked for them what
didn't work for them because they're
gonna accelerate your rate of success
and they're gonna help you avoid making
some costly and time-consuming mistakes
so I tell people like if you're just
looking to make some pocket change on
Amazon maybe a thousand two thousand
bucks a month just to kind of have a
little bit of income you don't
necessarily need to invest in a
comprehensive training course you could
probably learn how to do that on your
own it's not that hard but if you want
to do like what I did or what Stefan did
or what other people on YouTube - in
terms of actually building a real
business and building a sustainable
business or even building a brand that
can really create financial freedom for
yourself then this course sorry keep it
eNOS of course you should invest in a
course because it's going to build the
foundation that you need so that you can
grow your business with that solid
foundation instead of growing a business
and not having that foundation in place
and then having to restart all over
again because of all the mistakes you
made and yes we're all gonna make
mistakes even with a training course
you're gonna make mistakes but there are
things that can be avoided by learning
from people who have paved the path for
you so I highly recommend a course Stef
and I we both recommend the amazing
sewing machine because we both went
through it and it's the four it's the
first course that I ever took I was very
fortunate to having that as the first
course because it's the most
comprehensive course out there but since
then I've been through a number of
different Amazon training programs just
because I wanted to make sure that I
know
that recommending ESM is still the
number one recommendation and after
going through all of these other
people's courses online i can stand by
the fact that ASM is definitely the best
course out there the most comprehensive
yeah I know ASM is great we did that in
2014 and I had already been selling on
Amazon for a few years before that but
by publishing books on Amazon Kindle and
paperback books and I was already a
various experienced internet marketer I
would have not had been able to do this
business or start or even know what the
heck to do if I didn't have a course
like amazing sell machine so I was not a
beginner when it came to online business
online marketing and I still needed a
course so I always humble myself and
have humility at least the best that I
can to realize that if I'm starting a
new business there's a lot that I don't
know there's a learning curve to this
there's mistakes I'm gonna make and I'm
looking to avoid those mistakes I'm the
worst way to learn is from your own
experience because that's way too
painful you know you're it's gonna cost
you a lot of money in time but if you
can learn from other people's experience
if they've already made the mistakes and
the failures and they know what to do
and what works or what doesn't work
that's gonna save you so much time just
by learning from them and following in
their footsteps so that's always the
smartest way to learn I think a lot of
some people they're not willing to
invest in a course and oftentimes you
know what I've noticed from that is
they're just not committed or serious
enough about it or maybe financially
they're not prepared to start this
business I wish a case that's okay to
you know maybe this business is not for
everyone because there's obviously money
that you do have to invest in it you've
got to invest in not just a course but
also inventory and product packaging and
you know some expenses involved to
actually launch your product and get it
out there so for some people that are
like if you're struggling financially
and you're broke most often for you
don't even consider in all my business
because it's not gonna make you money
right away you know it's not like you're
trading your time for money you get paid
a paycheck every two weeks it's it's
putting in time and money and investing
that for the long-term potential of what
its gonna provide for you so if you're
like someone watching this and you know
we get people like this they're like
I'm broke I've got no money in my bank
account like I'm looking for a solution
the solution is to get a job the
solution is to get something that can
provide immediate income for you and get
yourself financially secure and stable
and then in a few months once you're in
a better financial position then to
start a business and then to really go
after it and make sure you're starting
it the right way with the right you know
money that you can invest into it you
can stomach the wrist and you've got the
money for a great course that can guide
you and help you otherwise maybe
something like affiliate marketing could
be another option - which is like a an
easier business lower-cost business to
start and operate but getting a course I
mean that's something that you're
deathly gonna need it's not just one
course either it's like even once you go
through a course you know and you've
gotten certain results from that you got
it to a certain level you're still
learning and growing like you're going
to seminars you know you're investing in
other training programs - like the
learning never stops you know like it's
not like we just did one course and we
became successful like we've gone
through so many other courses to learn
about Instagram and YouTube and social
media marketing and Facebook marketing
and and and Amazon and like all of that
stuff are continuously doing and growing
and that's really what's made a
successful long term it's another
powerful thing to mention is that as the
entrepreneur the responsibility lies on
you and you make your business
successful and sometimes as an employee
you just don't have those burdens and
the responsibilities not on you you go
to your shift you do your job you come
home and then you can enjoy the rest of
your day but as the entrepreneur you
have to constantly learn and grow
otherwise your competition will beat you
and your business will be gone and
shortly especially an online business so
that always comes down to learning more
and being willing to learn more I know
again I mentioned that early a lot of
people just aren't willing to spend the
time and educate in themselves and
that's so so important
cool the next thing and what it takes I
think this is an important one obviously
is a well researched product okay so if
you want to be successful in Amazon
obviously you've got to have a great
product and that means you got to do
some great
research on that you really got to know
to make sure that the product that
you're selling is in high demand right a
lot of people are searching for it on
Amazon you do a lot of research we like
the tool of jungle scout which is great
that really helps you to go over all the
analytics and and just kind of you know
make sure that whatever product that you
do launch financially it makes sense
the profit margin has to make sense and
of course whatever product that you do
launch got have a good supplier for that
product as well and there's got to be a
quality product it has to be a product
that people want it's got to be a
product that when people buy it may
purchase it they're happy with the
product that they're gonna be compelled
to want to leave a review on Amazon
they're gonna want to share it with
their friends they might want to come
back for another product that you might
have in the future and be a raving fan
customer if you're just trying to sell
in Amazon you can do everything else
right but if you have a crappy product
you know there's no marketing that's
gonna fix that you know you can send all
this traffic to a crappy Amazon listing
and a crappy product but obviously
people aren't going to buy it so you
know really making sure you have a great
product the product that you do pick is
different than other products out there
or stand so in a way it can be a small
way it doesn't have to be like a big way
to to really differentiate yourself but
at least having a product that's a
little bit more unique that's different
that meets an either solves a problem
it's high in demand a lot of cases if
you do a really great job with the
research a lot of sales can kind of
happen automatically in a way not always
it's not with every product so you don't
want to bank on that but a lot of
products if you really do a great job
with research you can start getting
sales right away with it and it can just
kind of have a huge snowball effect and
I've seen that amongst a lot of sellers
is sometimes they just have a winning
product from the start it's not everyone
you know we didn't necessarily have
winning products from the start but if
you can do that then that that's
obviously key and your first product
might not be the best one that's okay
too but eventually like if you really
want to succeed it's a you know it's
finding that product that has the
potential to really grow and you can
build your business your niche and
really expand from that one core product
so when you're doing your product
research the most
thing to think about say you've narrowed
it down to your top three products when
you look at your competitors you want to
be the one who adds more value than
everyone else at the end of the day
that's what Commerce is that's what
business is and that's why I love
business it's figuring out ways how to
serve your customers when you do more
than anyone else those customers will
come to you and it will become easier so
look at your competitors see what
they're offering see the value they
bring and figure out how can I add more
value how can I deliver more how can I
give more to those customers and so when
I for example recently did an interview
with someone who had this great product
on Amazon but it was just like everyone
else's and then he said okay how can I
add more value he thought about cake who
are my customers that are buying this
product and he found out that the
customers are parents and they're buying
the product for their kids so what could
I add as a bonus item to this product
that would benefit those kids and then
he added a little plush doll a little
plush animal stuffed animal nobody else
was doing that and so because he added
value and because it was unique he
ranked to number one even though the
product itself was the same the price
was the same as his competitors he found
a way to add more value than anyone else
so that is the key and that's what I see
the difference between those who are
really killing it on Amazon it's because
they found a way to differentiate
themselves with the value that they're
adding the next thing I want to mention
is that yes there are products if you do
your research and you put them out on
Amazon they can just start getting
traffic and sales right away just
because there's so much demand for that
product but you cannot count on that you
can't just say I found a great product
I'm gonna pop it on Amazon and I'm gonna
sit there and I'm gonna refresh my tab
waiting for those sales to come in
that's just it's not gonna work like
that for most people at this stage with
all the
petition that there is you really have
to take that extra step to do all of the
marketing that you need to do it's a
game of marketing at the end of the day
like I mentioned earlier you can have
the best product in the world but if you
don't know how to market that product
nobody's gonna buy it and so the the key
is the marketing and so one thing that I
really love doing is social media
marketing because it's probably the
cheapest form of marketing that you
could take on and it has such a high
conversion rate a high impact you know
influencer marketing and then there's of
course traditional you know PPC Amazon
ads Facebook ads all of those things but
you have to be able to do all that stuff
and I see a lot of people who aren't
willing to do those things again it
comes down to the commitment they're not
willing to put in the extra work to
build an Instagram page or to you know
set up an account on Facebook and all of
those things and those really contribute
to the success of the product yeah it's
not the best product that wins is the
best marketed product that wins and so
you can't just think I'm gonna you know
if I build it then they will come that's
not enough you actually have to have a
marketing plan for your product and I
think a lot of people they they don't
think beyond that like they just say
okay here's a product you know I'm just
gonna sell it on Amazon based on the
keyword ranking for it and then turn on
Amazon ads but those are only two ways
of marketing the product and it could be
competitive depending on what niche that
you're in you know all the other
products and your needs are doing the
same thing so it's not that you can't
still rise above that do well just with
ranking the product and turning on
Amazon ads but you got to think beyond
Amazon right when you think beyond
Amazon you no longer have to worry about
saturation competition any of that
because now you're driving traffic from
Facebook or from Instagram or from
YouTube or from your blog or from the
search engines or from other influencers
right you're sending traffic from all
those places to your Amazon listing or
you're building your own email list your
own funnel and that gives you the
ability to build a business that can
grow beyond Amazon like tatianna sells
on Shopify she's got her own store and
that gives her more controlled long-term
and allows her to build that brand
so you've got to think bigger picture
than just I'm gonna sell products on
Amazon like that's just where you start
yeah start there and then as you're
building it up you got to think about
how am I gonna maybe turn on Facebook
ads or create content on on YouTube or
Instagram or whatever it might be so
that I can get sales to my listing by
doing that it boosts your ranking on
Amazon because now you're getting
traffic your competitors aren't getting
so you've got an advantage in a ranking
boost on Amazon
and interactions building a sustainable
business rather than a lot of people
they they are into like building an
online business but it's really not a
business they just want to make money
online and that's why you see people
that they're like dropshippers or
whatever let you know things like that
where they really don't have a
sustainable business they just are
making a bit of money but it can easily
fall apart it's not something that you'd
really want to quit your job off of it's
not something as sustainable it's not
something that's secure so if you're
actually gonna pursue this I assume that
you're doing this so that your I can
actually build a business that is
sustainable enough for you to quit your
job to live off of it if you've got a
family if you've got a home if you have
expenses
you can't like build a business and
expect like just Amazon to sustain it
for you you've got to build something
more you've got to build some of your
own assets in your own brand and
business and that that's that's a more
