What To Do When You FAIL 😧


hey what's up life masters this is
Stefan James from project life mastery
today we're going to talk about failure
what do you do when you fail you've got
goals and dreams that you're pursuing
right now in your life and then sure
enough inevitably you make a mistake or
you experience a significant challenge
or you fail which is something by the
way that we're all going to go through
you know we're all gonna make mistakes
and all going to experience failures
that's totally normal and natural that
if you're pursuing and taking action if
you're in the game and you're not a
bystander on the bench and watching if
you're actually in the game you're gonna
fall down you're gonna make mistakes and
it's not that failure is bad really what
matters is what we do about it you know
how we pick ourselves back up and a wise
man once said you want to spend 10% of
your time focus on the problem and then
90% of your time energy and attention
focus on the solution and what most
people do when they fail when they make
a mistake they put 80 90 percent of
their time and their energy and their
focus on the problem on the failure they
exaggerate it they amplify it they feel
that they link so much pain to it
instead of spending most of their time
on the solution so let's focus on the
solution and to make sure that the
failures that you go through in life if
you're watching this right now you just
went through one or you got one common
which inevitably we will I want to give
you the strategy in the game plan of
what I do and what you can do right away
to make sure that your failure is an
asset and a gift and not a liability
okay to make sure that you're failing
forward and this failure is a stepping
stone towards creating the life and
achieving the goals that you want so the
first thing I want to give you the first
strategy if you will that if you went
through a failure or you're going
through around right now or you just got
one coming first thing is to get excited
take it excited now you might be
thinking what do you mean excited why
would I get excited about a failure well
the reason why you want to get excited
for it is because you want to link in
your mind that failure is not a bad
thing
failure can be a gift it really is an
opportunity for you to learn and for you
to grow and the fact that you did fail
is a good thing because it means that
you're doing something see I believe the
only failure in life is not doing
anything not even trying see all the
people that are spectators that are
bystanders that are extra in their own
movie those are the people
piñon that are failing those are the
people that aren't doing anything
they're not going for it they're not
taking any action the reason is because
they have a fear of failure and you've
got to be very careful about developing
that fear see what happens for most
people is when they experience failure
they link so much pain to it they make
it so significant in their life and in
their mind that because they link so
much pain to that event that happened
they link up in their brain why even go
for it why even pursue the next goal why
even dream why even take action in my
life if all it's going to lead to is
failure so they live their whole life
avoiding taking action they get to a
point of analysis paralysis they get to
learn helplessness where they believe
why even try why even go for it because
I've already been disappointed so many
times in my life that there's no point
even trying so therefore most people
they settle for a life of mediocrity
they said only have their goals and
dreams just fly by they'll watch other
people achieve and grow and create an
incredible lives but they stay stuck and
most often they resent those people they
get angry and jealous towards them and
envious because they broke through and
they didn't and their success other
people's success is a spotlight it's a
reflection shining back on them on their
missed opportunities in their failure so
you've got to be very careful about
linking pain to failure because all
that's gonna do is keep you stuck so you
got to get excited realize that failure
means that you're actually in the game
you're not on the bench you're in the
game you're on the court you're on the
field you're not an extra in the movie
you're the star of your movie and of
course the star of the show of the
sports team of the movie or whatever it
is yeah they're gonna you know fail and
make mistakes and everything but they're
also going to create the life they want
so you want to acknowledge yourself for
that the fact that you even went for it
the fact that you even take an action
and yeah you made a mistake you fail but
that's okay you're further ahead than
everyone else that's not doing anything
okay so acknowledge yourself Elyse for
that so that's number one get excited
number two is ask yourself why did you
fail why did he make this a mistake how
did this failure even happen in the
first place right because here's the
thing you've got to take full 100%
responsibility for your failure you got
to take full
responsibility for you got to take
ownership of it because as long as you
deflect and you lay blame to everyone
else that's outside of your control
you're never gonna have any power to
change your life or to achieve what you
want if you come up with the story and
say I failed because of the economy
because of the government because of
that bad customer that I had or because
this person was in a relationship with
you know or I feel because I had a
mentor they gave me the wrong advice or
I failed because the program didn't work
the book didn't work whatever it is as
long as you deflect responsibility you
have no power to change so instead you
got to take ownership you are
responsible for your life you are
responsible for what happens to you
you're responsible for the actions that
you take you know you're responsible for
putting yourself in that situation in
the first place you're responsible for
choosing that person to be in a
relationship with you're responsible for
putting the foods that you knew that
weren't the healthiest foods for you and
your body you're responsible for getting
into that business deal or you know
applying for that job or working in that
environment you're responsible for all
of it and by taking responsibility
really what that allows us to do is to
learn from it okay to actually identify
why did I feel because here's the big
mistake it's failure is not a bad thing
it's a great thing if you learn right
but here's the problem if you don't
learn from it if you're making mistakes
and you're repeating the same mistakes
again and again that's when you know
that's when it's a problem so we want to
make sure we I did find why did we fail
right so we point the finger at
ourselves we look ourselves in the
mirror why did I feel why what did I
what could it you know what could I have
done differently or what could have done
better you know maybe I could have
anticipated things a little bit better
maybe I could project it and thought and
plan things out a little bit more maybe
I should have done more due diligence
maybe I shoulda done more research maybe
I should have talked to a few other
people a few other referrals
maybe I sure if it created a better plan
maybe I should have found a mentor a
coach or someone that could guide me or
a course or a training program to help
learn from other people's failures so
that I didn't have to repeat them and go
through them okay so that now is
starting to turn this failure into a
gift you see how that's happening we're
reframing things we're extracting the
good from this failure from this
disappointment
so I want you to ask yourself now
questions here's the next piece ask
yourself questions to extract the good
the questions you want to ask yourself
anytime you feel or making mistakes is
number one what was good about this okay
what was good about this or what was
great now your first year mine's gonna
say on nothing you know it was horrible
and come up with all the negatives but I
wanted to actually find what's good
about it so that we have some balance
maybe what was good about this event is
you know what you learned along the way
you know you learned throughout this
experience it's gonna make you stronger
it's gonna make you emotionally stronger
and mentally stronger that if you can
get through this then you can get
through anything in your life every all
the other challenges and mistakes that
you make up on the way I'm gonna seem so
small compared to what you just went
through right or maybe it's a you know
is something that can lead you down a
new direction a new path in your life
that you never thought of before
right sometimes you know failures of my
life in the moment they're disappointing
and hard but when I look back they're
the greatest gifts of my life because
they made me better so what was great
about it ask yourself what can I learn
from this okay what can I learn from
this okay extract the lessons from it
ask herself what could I done
differently or what could I done better
if I were to do this all over again what
would I do differently or better how can
I utilize this or how can I use this to
my advantage how can this liability
become an asset how can this failure
this is disappointment become a gift in
my life and how can I change my
perception of it so that I can look at
it in a positive way as a stepping stone
towards creating the life that I want
okay so extract as much good as you can
from it okay and once you do you took
the good I mean this failure we can
leave it in the past we don't need to
continue focusing on it we got to focus
on the present and moving forward from
it okay so let's take the good from it
as much as that's available for you and
then let's move on and and adapt to move
in the direction of where you want to go
so asking questions is key analyzing the
situation maybe there's things you could
have done better or differently the next
piece is to get help get help you see
you can't be afraid to ask for help
because listen achieving
there are coals or whatever you want is
way too hard to do it on your own okay
we got to humble ourselves we're gonna
have a little bit of humility
we gotta understand that there's other
people out there that can help us that
can help us accelerate and help us avoid
the pain and the disappointment we can't
be inner ego we can't think that we know
all the answers and then we can just
figure it out why why not ask for help
why not get help from other people that
have been there and done that
I mean if they've been down the path
that you're on they've made mistakes
they've gone through the failures and
they've gone through it so that you
don't have to why reinvent the wheel I
mean it's one of the stupidest things
that we do but it's all ego it's all
being self-centered and egocentric so we
got to release that and ask for help
especially when you fail you definitely
got to humble yourself you know and that
failure and realizing that you did
things wrong you took responsibility for
it so who can help you maybe it's a
mentor maybe it's a coach maybe it's a
therapist right I mean people in
relationships or relationships
struggling but they refuse to go to a
therapist to get help they want to try
to figure it out on their own you can
understand that your best thinking is
what got you in this situation okay your
best thinking got you in that situation
but to get to where you want to go
you've got to upgrade your thinking you
got to get a different perspective that
you don't have right now okay so if you
keep doing what you've always done and
keep getting what you've always got
you've got to get help and get outside
of that so is there a mentors there
coach maybe it's friends you could reach
out to your friends and say you know
what this is the challenge that I'm
dealing with this is the failure that I
had what do you think can you give me
some advice can you give me I love
appreciate your perspective on it you
know so reach out to people for help
you'd be surprised sometimes one person
one new idea one new support system can
change everything for you okay sometimes
getting a coach or a mentor can set you
on the right path or show you what you
did wrong and then help you correct it
to make sure that you're doing the right
things
okay so always ask for help don't be shy
don't be hesitant of that if you reach
out someone's not want to give it just
reach out and find other people they're
willing to help you okay sometimes you
got to pay for the help you've got to
pay for the course the program but
that's okay okay that's okay it's going
to be worth it because you don't you
want to make sure that you solve your
problems you don't repeat the same ones
again and again okay so the next piece
is to change your approach and adapt
change your approach and adapt see all
failure really means is that you try
something and it didn't work and that's
ok all you can do is learn from it and
try something else
and if you try the next thing it doesn't
work what do you do you try something
else
and if you try that and it doesn't work
what do you do you try something else so
you just keep changing your approach and
every time you change your approach
you're you're learning from it and
you're making better decisions it's
helping you improve your decision-making
process ok so you're getting better and
better every single time and sure enough
you try many different things it is
going to lead to the right action and
the right path and you're gonna get it
and you're gonna get to where you want
to go ok you can't just keep doing the
same thing again and again like I said
keep your voice down keep getting what
you always got if you don't learn from
you just repeating the same mistakes
again and again the same actions you're
gonna continue to fail you're not gonna
get what you want you've got to always
be adapting and evolving and learning
from it ok so change your approach
create a new plan of action based on
your new understanding or maybe your new
the help that you receive that can that
can help make sure you get to where you
want to go ok
the next piece is to build strength from
this to make sure that the experience of
failure does not discourage you ok
because that's really the danger of
failure is that people let failure and
falling down discourage them from trying
again in the future see really what you
got to do when you go through a failure
is we got to get you strong again ok we
got to get you into a state of
confidence and certainty because when
you fail you lose some of that certainty
you lose some of that belief and that
confidence in yourself or in the goal in
the vision that you have you start to
doubt yourself you start to question and
think oh maybe this is not for me or
maybe I can't do this after all right
and you go backwards in your life and
then again you fall into the trap of
settling for less than you can be so
instead we got to get you strong and
gonna make sure that you have a ritual
in the morning ok I'm a morning ritual
guy every morning you put yourself at
level 10 okay you put yourself so that
you're in a bigger state you're in a
bigger you're bigger than any problem
that shows up for you or bigger than any
challenge or failure see if you're a
level 3 person you've got eleven seven
level seven problem the problem is gonna
consume you you got to be a level 10
person when you deal with the level 7
problem is a level-10 person you could
destroy and rip through that problem you
can rip through that challenge and get
through it
so really you got to have a ritual and a
process to build muscle mental emotional
spiritual muscle everyday now I'm big
into mourning rituals to do that I've
got a course and resources called

ritual like that to get strong and to
have that certainty and build that up
you're going to build a breakthrough
anything that shows up okay so we got to
make sure that you manage your emotions
your mindset and that we don't we don't
we don't create cracks in your
psychology and your mindset that's gonna
weaken you in the future
okay so we're going to make sure that
you have that right mindset from this
point forward and then the last piece is
to have faith okay you need a little bit
of faith see I had the belief that
everything happens for a reason and a
purpose and it serves us I'm not sure if
you have any spiritual beliefs but
tapping into faith which is really when
you trust when there's no evidence
around to support it you know every
every goal or dream that you have or
anyone has ever pursued is require a
little bit of faith you know even you
just watching this video right now
required a little bit of faith you know
you didn't know who I was maybe or
clicked on a thumbnail or a video and it
takes a little bit of faith to do that
and we've got to exercise our faith a
little bit more often to still trust
that things are gonna work out the way
we want and even though we went to a
failure a challenge in our life that
when we have a deeper belief in the
faith that maybe this is happening for a
reason that we can't understand quite
yet but it will serve me in the future
it will benefit me and I was meant to
maybe go through this you or maybe meant
to go through this to go through it
because of what you become my friends
gods delays are not God's denials just
because you failed and just because
there's delays it's not that you're
being denied by God it's not that you
can't have the success of what you want
but maybe God is challenging you a
little bit maybe the universe is
challenging a little bit to see what
you're really made of
to see if you really want it to see if
you're really committed and now one of
my favorite sayings is that God is not
as much interested in your convenience
is interested in your character and who
you become
because what you are is a gift from God
and what you become is a gift that you
give back to God now I'm not sure what
your beliefs are but for me that faith
that belief serves me in my life it
empowers me so much and how it keeps me
going strong in that but all hell is
breaking loose and I'm going through
hell I just keep going you know I just
keep going through it and I learned and
I totally believe have faith that this
is gonna lead to a more beautiful place
in my life that sometimes these failures
of what you go through forces you to
become more so that you have something
to give you know my failures my
challenges in my life became my greatest
gifts because every problem that I had I
overcame it and it gives me the ability
to serve and help you here on project
life mastery and what I do for my living
my mission in life so if I didn't go
through those I wouldn't have the
passion that I have and be the person
that I am to be able to help other
people go through what they're going
through you know sometimes when you
don't get what you want it's part of the
larger plan of life because sometimes
you not getting what you want
allows someone else to get what they
want you know so a lot of failure and
disappointment is like you obsessing
over yourself like you had an
expectation you wanted this you didn't
get it and you're you know so
self-centered and a lot of times this
focus just on you instead of realizing
you know I remember when I was single be
a great woman that I'd be attracted to
you're interested in and I failed it
didn't work out the way that I wanted to
with that person but I could just focus
on myself I didn't get what I want you
know I went to a breakup with someone I
loved and liked them a lot
it didn't work out but you know what
sometimes that's part of the larger plan
because by you not getting what you want
and being with that person then maybe it
led to that person being with a person
that really meant to be with or maybe it
allowed another guy or girl to be with
that person and have what they want
right it's the circle of life in that
way or maybe the gift of it is that it's
forcing you to become more and become
stronger and to maybe be a little bit
less focused on yourself and more focus
on humanity and serving and getting
outside of yourself it's finding the
good and the gift and having that faith
along the way guys that's really the
secret so listen I really wish you well
