3 Things To Do With: TOMATO JUICE #Tasty Food

in case you don't know our mission here
at sorted is to get people into the
kitchens talking about any cooking great
food because of this the guys at Tesco
advised us to take celebrity ingredients
and use them to create three incredible
dishes
this week we're looking at tomorrow June
other three things you can do is smarter
- most definitely and we're going to
show to you both sweet and savory I'm
making a tomato juice cake I'm making a
vegetable bean chili and first up I'm
making a tomato and chive vinaigrette
cooking doesn't get easier than mix fact
we're starting off with literally the
easiest recipe ever the vinaigrette
though is not to be underestimated
it's a very powerful tool in the right
hands yeah this is a very tasty I'm
gonna make it the ginger or a clean jar
so pour in our tomato juice all gonna
happen in the same jar it's as powerful
in the right and what if it got in the
wrong
mixed up a good quality extra virgin
olive oil if you can plug in two shot
glasses of that yep perfect Rhett it's
all that ratio and I would normally put
one part vinegar so three parts oil one
part vinegar to three parts bread but in
this one it's a bit different because
it's more the juice is not oil or
vinegar but it is quite tangy but it's
not quite vinegar so it's a bit
different so follow the recipe for this
one it's not intimate to a standard
vinaigrette so just one tablespoon of
that ports up ridwan vinegar thank you
there's only two more ingredients garlic
peel it but keep it whole okay well I'm
gonna chop up some fresh chives as fine
as possible
now not gonna lie to you I always buy my
vinaigrette off the off the shelf you've
got 10 seconds to convince me why this
is better than buying off the shelf
Jamie because it's taken us about eight
seconds to do this you put that on there
I'll put this in here we'll shake it up
and that easier ten seconds whereas it
would take a good half now to go through
shops and back Plus this one you can
personalize if you want it more tangy or
more spicy more salty you can
personalize that bought jar you're just
gonna use what they give you and it's
cheaper but what if I change my the want
Caesar dressing instead of that one then
I can refer you another video okay here
we go to finish it off the choice go in
the garlic goes in butthole okay that's
just gonna give enough flavor over
parent because raw garlic is very strong
it is something little yeah do my little
Tom Cruise and pressure always wear a
red shirt just in case you do spill any
no no does the garlic have long enough
to have a flavor
yeah William cause babies you're shaking
and bashing up the oils come out like
when you make a panzanella and you just
rub it around the outside of the bowl
perfect plus you're not gonna use all
this at once it will keep in the fridge
for a good week or so just shake it
every time you want to use it and it'll
get stronger and stronger garlic but
absolutely taste that it's the same
thing when you rub garlic on place
toothbrush I can taste that flavor are
way less spirited yeah that is our
tomato and chive vinaigrette sorted and
next up we're making a vegetable beam
chilling a really hearty dish with
obviously beans at the focus of it but
also tomato juice it really quick simple
sauce okay so it starts with our root
veg and you want to chop up the chili
then it seeds in oil if you like it hot
take the seeds out if you don't prefer
the heat oh I'm going to peel and dice
celery and carrot
with all the main shopping done a shot
of oil into a pan and stop the fry off
all of those Bay's that really had any
chopping involved in this process other
two flavors go in in a minute a clove of
garlic and some fresh thyme so I'm just
going to chop those up yep Barry can you
drain off our three tins of beans and
now it couldn't be easier into the pan
with the veg already softened garlic and
thyme three different dried spices so
we've got ground cumin ground coriander
and cayenne pepper a bit more heat there
teaspoon of each how spicy is this chili
well Jamie spice here was it Ben Spies
it's been spicy
I like a wolf to give you a bit of a
glow but not a blow your head off but
you can personalize your smiles we're
actually making this vegetarian yeah
could you add meat in to make a chili
con carne smoky bacon with you're good
with all the beans you don't need a huge
amount of meat because the beans are
doing that job for you
but the flavor of bacon would be amazing
the beef in whatever you like but
actually with all these flavors
vegetarian is always good next up in
with all about tomato juice so God's
kicking out the fray just makes it
easier sauce ever and all of your beans
and they're good on your heart beans
beans good for your heart
indeed generous pinch of salt and pepper
and leave the whole thing to bubble away
for about 20 minutes so the source of
juices in the meantime we can place the
rice into salted boiling water to cook
and look at all that beanie goodness we
can serve it right up with our wild rice
that would make the best basil on toast
if you've got any left over the flavors
get better the day after you are so
right Oh some have Ricardo been look
without the card on top along with some
sour cream and fresh coriander oh and
that is our vegetable bean chili
sorted yeah
believe it or not this does work and
here's why well carrot cake works and
we're going to do is take out grated
carrot and putting grated sweet potato
and we can take out orange juice which
you often put into carrot cake so I'm
that citrusy tankiness and put in tomato
juice still a liquid steel tangy it's
gonna work a treat you've convinced me
first up crack the eggs into a bowl and
whisk with the sugar and oil and then
take your tomato juice and place into a
pan reduced by half and allow it to cool
until you have back
at the last liquid into your mix which
is our reduced tomato juice I think I
was saying we have made this recipe
before a similar one your houses
differently you're right
thank you we made tomato soup with cake
before which had a whole tin of tomato
soup in it and we cooked in a tin yeah
this one has a sweet potato it's a bit
more body that comes from sweet potato
more like a carrot cake texture as
opposed to the tomato soup cake texture
which is just liquid no I saw so I'm
gonna peel this and then grate it when
it comes with a grater sweet potato you
need a very set weight and it needs to
be the grated weight so you need to
grate it and then weigh out all the
weights and measurements are available
down below was that heavy what you mean
you made it look like it was heavy
hundred 75 grams you can wish that into
there along with all of the flour and
our spices we've got mixed spice
cinnamon and baking powder so it's nice
and light and fluffy plus two types of
flour whole milk and self-raising I've
got a question this cake looks like it's
got a load more ingredients and there's
a quite a bit more involved than a
normal cake why should I go to this much
effort rather than just make a little
bit tourist fun you haven't tasted it
yet when we get to the end you taste it
it is incredible it's like any kind of
muffin or carrot cake or he's got lots
of spices he's got lots of nuts we're
gonna put on top it is worth the effort
because it just tastes and looks
phenomenal
Oh transfer your mixture into two line
sandwich tins and then they go into an
oven they need to bake at 180 degrees
for 25 minutes
I can do this bit cream cheese frosting
cream cheese and icing sugar in a bowl
while I chop up snot
and all you have to do is buy your cake
so one base with a dollop of cream
cheese and spread all the way around
then the next base more cream cheese
more pecans job done how much we going
from liberal nuttage I can do that look
at that
I do believe that that is our tomato
juice plate sorted who thought you can
make all of this food tomorrow I don't
think you can make that tell us what you
think
really I have done such a good job there
all right after chilling well I think
this is gonna have quite kick to it
no it's not station that has got a warm
fit let's warm it up all that needs is
from spice out it's yeah bad some spice
it out a great night as well this one
the vinaigrette last forever forever
ever well don't quote me on that but at
least a week or so in the fridge I think
I like about that if you get the
vinegary kick but then it's sort of
mellow you mellows vomit all smarter
they are all so different I don't know
which one my favorite is I believe which
one is this that one there yep this one
