Get REAL Wireless
Charging on Old iPhones! 7/6s/6 Mod #Helpful Post
u
guys are gonna love this this is an
iPhone
6s from years ago and it has real
wireless
charging check this out no pat
on
the back
true
wireless charging on a 6s and it
did
have a headphone jack you can still
keep
it I'd have to drill it out but
yeah
this is just a new shell with
wireless
charging built in for $30 for
an
iPhone 6 6s or the 7 Series of course
the
pluses are included and it gives you
real
wireless charging so upgrade the
look
of your phone get real wireless
charging
without having to spend
hundreds
for a new iPhone and the
success
is super capable for years to
come
I think this thing will be very
nice
to use and with wireless charging
it
makes it that much more tolerable
this
is an amazing mod and I'm gonna
show
you guys how to do it okay so we
will
need several things in order to get
that
mystical wireless charging feature
going
here and I'm gonna be using an
iPhone
6s so I have several of these
laying
around I think this is a perfect
subject
not too old not too recent you
guys
will know it's definitely gonna be
something
special to get wireless
charging
on this bad boy
so
obviously can do that with a aluminum
chassis
so we're gonna need a new shell
and
this is where this guy comes in
they're
very cheap about thirty to forty
dollars
depending on where you get them
from
and the two benefits it provides is
of
course wireless charging and two
it'll
update the look of your phone to
look
just like an iPhone eight so you
get
two two and one
you
don't need to upgrade your phone
just
to get a wireless charging feature
I
think that's a very cool aspect about
it
so let's take a look at this kits
here
and I got two sizes I didn't know
which
one I would actually want so I got
one
for the iPhone at seven plus series
and
I got one for my iPhone 6s here so
let's
see what we got here this is the
one
for the iPhone 6s and as you can see
it
gives it a fresh new look fresh new
color
this is a different shade of gold
it
matches the iPhone eight series
actually
almost want to I'm gonna go
grab
it and look at that that's an
amazing
match the fonts are on point
here
they look good the logo itself the
colors
the shading looks so dang
realistic
and the borders very very
similar
here so aside from a slight
Franchi
Asian here in the lenses because
this
one is larger into the left
it's
an off-center a little bit but it
will
do the job and yeah you do have to
get
rid of your headphone jack unless
you
want to drill into this not a
problem
but this one does not have a
headphone
jack on it so you're getting
the
full realistic look and experience
of
the iPhone aids so very similar to
the
one found in the iPhone 8 we're
gonna
be using this pad here and as you
can
see quite complex looking but it
will
do the job and it's not fast
charging
it's the fastest charging that
these
guys are capable of but Apple
didn't
add that feature to these phones
alright
so let's take a look at the 7
plus
version oh and looks like they sent
me
the wrong one but anyways this is for
the
iPhone 6s or no the 7 and it's a
product
to read back so you can get an
updated
look in the form of product red
as
well this one's quite nice has the
same
cutout it's basically a one to one
of
the iPhone 8 but just for the iPhone
7
so that's actually really really cool
I
might thinking about doing this one
now
looks way better
let's
check this pad out they do have
some
sort of instructions in here let
see
how detailed they are so one little
page
okay replace the phone shell and
the
wireless charging receiver module is
gently
folded inward along the white
lines
at a 90 degree angle the
connecting
cables are folded back and I
need
to grease so that doesn't help very
much
with pictures that's small buts
they
do have an install video so I'm
going
to go ahead and check that out it
seems
like it hijacks your connection
with
the battery so it can go right in
between
there okay otherwise I think I'm
ready
to begin so this is mostly a shell
swap
with this coming into play once we
strip
it down completely of course I got
my
trusty tool kits here
I
do recommend one of these this
basically
lets you know where to put all
the
screws and whatnot if not print out
a
picture of the iFixit guide and then
just
pop them along where you see the
screws
and of course if you have an
iPhone
6s or above there is a seal
inside
of it you want to order one of
those
to reinstall and get your water
resistance
back so basically we need to
get
to a point where we swap everything
over
into the new case and I mean every
thing
except for the battery so leave
the
battery out and have everything else
in
place and that's that's basically it
and
that's the hardest part of this
entire
thing so I would recommend using
iFixit
guide as I'm just gonna be
fast-forwarding
through these parts just
wanna
get through this as fast as
possible
but it's not a difficult
experience
it's just the seals they have
to
reinstall and stuff it's a it's very
particular
you have to follow it step by
step
just so you know what you're doing
make
sure to remember all of these screw
positions
and that's exactly why I
recommend
one of those boards alright
and
here we go got in there loosen it
very
carefully on of course I always
forget
to turn it off so do turn it off
beforehand
this is like an old one
running
Iowa's Nye and I just dug it out
of
the closet I have so many phones guys
I
forget I even have some older ones I
actually
funny story is I ordered a
bunch
of iPhone tens when they came out
last
year and only a couple weeks ago I
found
a box of one that got shipped to
me
that I just put away there was an
iPhone
10 256 gigabytes just sitting in
my
closets for a while like eight nine
months
until I find it I was so funny I
was
like wow Christmas okay so once
we're
inside Lucis panel remove the
display
anyways one screw left it's a
very
odd one here so you actually need a
socket
to remove it all right and out
comes
the logic board so there will be
an
antenna oh and don't forget this
hidden
screw by the speaker and be very
gentle
peeling the Flex cables back
because
we will be reinstalling them
here
alright so got that out I would
recommend
immediately transplanting
everything
over to the new one and you
will
need all of these seals and gaskets
I
believe well actually on the speaker
grille
grab this one and the one from
the
microphone over here and I'm leaving
my
least-favorite for last two battery
always
have terrible luck with these
stickers
but so once we get this off we
can
get into the rest of the cabling and
the
side clamps for the display and
we're
pretty much ready to transplant
everything
back over and almost done
okay
in this awful part that I hate peel
back
these stickers and you want to make
sure
that you have an extra battery
adhesive
are these stickers are really
cheap
on eBay
and
if you're doing this on a success
might
as well get a new battery $10 for
an
OEM one and so basically make your
phone
feel like new again the success is
surprisingly
capable like this thing is
gonna
be good for a while longer had a
very
powerful processor ok surprisingly
that
one hold through oh my goodness
somehow
this adhesive was still fresh
usually
gets crusty and doesn't want to
come
out flawless nice so that one came
out
all I gotta do now is transplant the
rest
of these cables and because the
buttons
are so similar in color I don't
even
think I will switch those now these
can
be a bit tricky but you want to take
your
time it's a very very sensitive
flex
cable very thin so be very gentle
and
compared to older models success has
it
easy with the whole button situation
alright
and in the kits there are these
so
the new buttons they come with a seal
on
them that's a very nice change so you
don't
have to do it yourself go ahead
and
reinstall these and apply the flex
cable
back up to the new one and I just
thought
I'd make an observation I'm so
satisfied
with the quality of this case
I've
been through many housing swaps and
this
is by far the easiest one I've done
just
because they make it so much better
they
actually have guidelines where to
put
the Flex cables the flash unit sits
flush
here usually you have to do some
trimming
and adjusting like everything
fits
so naturally they finally got it
down
and the buttons come with the seals
on
them already so you'd have to mess
around
with that just all around the
easiest
housing swap I've ever done so
far
so I won't be drilling out for the
headphone
jack down here I need that
uniform
look
and
besides don't remember the last time
I
used one of these sorry iPhone but I
will
be tearing off the headphone jack
I'm
gonna peel this off by the way
before
it's too late ok and I think I'm
just
gonna set the pad in there for now
because
it is an adhesive yeah so the
coil
needs to be facing downwards and
that
we do need to fold on this line
where
the little white line is just fold
it
90 degrees just like
that's
or so alright so as you guys can
see
this is how it sits it Nestle's
right
into the corner here between the
logic
board and the battery it's a
little
bit of an awkward fits you have
to
deform this part a little bit to push
it
down just so this can reach the ports
but
basically you're going to wrap it
around
the connector it goes right in
between
the connector and the port and
you
push in and before we turn the phone
on
we're actually going to test it with
everything
taken apart just so if we
need
to do some adjustments we can okay
so
everything has been transplanted
everything
secured but the battery so
just
want to show you how I'm doing this
just
slip it in sideways like this and
before
you put the adhesive in it'll
close
without an issue just want to test
final
test here make sure it is charging
something
went wrong so I'm gonna open
it
up and play around with this I
believe
we do have to put the pads in
there
so it applies some pressure on top
of
it so I'm gonna use these included
little
rubber seals or spacers just
place
it's right in between the
connector
and the metal casing just like
that
okay and final test before closing
pop
it on everything's good make sure
it's
tucked away right in between the
battery
has a little bit room and there
it
is so if you did everything correctly
it
should wireless charge just like that
sweet
that is so freakin cool on a 6s
now
here's the new SIM card tray to
match
the body color that is so nice
this
feels like a brand new iPhone 8
alright
let's take a look at that
finished
product so not only do you get
a
beautiful new shell and this can be
had
in all of the iphone colors of
course
you can do this with the product
red
as well the Space Gray the silver it
looks
so great updating an old design
making
your phone feel brand new
basically
for pennies on the dollar
compared
to buying a new one you do have
wireless
charging now it activates it
very
quickly and the coverage isn't as
good
as Apple's original one so as you
can
see there's the breaking point
it
has to be put directly in the middle
of
this wireless charger to work but it
does
work you don't need one of those
pads
sticking out of your Lightning jack
you
do have true real wireless charging
on
your phone and that is freaking
amazing
so surprisingly easy well
housing
swap won't be easy for everyone
but
this took me what like 3045 minutes
not
bad at all
so
I would definitely recommend this to
anyone
with a 6 6 s even a 7 if you
don't
want to upgrade to Apple's new
iPhones
and make yours feel and look so
much
better of course with the wireless
charging
functionality this is the mod
to
do alright thanks for watching guys
stay
tuned all of the new iPhone videos
coming
soon here enjoy wireless charging
on
the cheap with your old iPhone base
