Samsung Galaxy S10 WATER/FREEZE Test! #Helpful Post

Samsung Galaxy S10 WATER/FREEZE Test!  #Helpful Post

Hey what's up guys.
Today we're doing the water test,
but not how you think.
Water tests nowadays I think are just totally redundant.
Every phone is IP68.
There's literally no point.
So, what we're gonna do is just really quick
test the manufacturer rating of the S10,
then do some extreme water tests so.
- This is what we like to call the ultimate
Galaxy S10 water test.
- So we're gonna be doing some not only water tests,
but rapid heating and cooling as well,

seeing how this handles it.
It does have gas chamber inside of it to handle heat.
Let's see if that helps at all, probably.
- Under pressure too, what that does...
- We'll see, we will see. - Turn her on.
- Turn her on.
Let's stick her in here and see what happens.
Manufacture rating is 30 minutes at five feet,
which is exactly what I have here.
This is the boring part.
It's obviously gonna survive.
- So to test the manufacturer rating...
How tall is this?
- So this is five, I'd say a little bit
over five and a half feet all and all.
- So about as tall as Phillip.
Here we go, let's drop it in.
- Cool.
- I love how it just lowers in there.
- Yup.
So I mean, we got it on that screen,
but we'll see if anything funny happens.
I literally expect nothing to happen.
This is the most boring part of this test.
Let's see what happens in 30 minutes.
- Dude, we said that at the same time, in 30 minutes.
- It's like we sync.
Ok, so we're literally almost an hour in
and I'm seeing the same screen.
Guessing nothing has happened.
Usually it doesn't in this case.

Okay, one hour in.
Let's see what the damage is.
Seems like there is absolutely none.
Flawless and I expected nothing less.
It seems okay, cool.
Well let's take this to the extreme part
with a boil test first.
Alright so, my logic here is water tests have
basically become redundant.
The most extreme way to test that,
I'd say is boiling water.
- The boiling test.
So we got a pot of boiling water here,
it looks like there's some olive oil left over.
(Phillip laughs)
So there might be a little extra sauce in the pot.
No worries, so we have a timer here.
We're gonna drop it in
and basically see through the boiling test
and this ultimate water test,
what happens to the S10 Plus.
Phillip, - Yeah?
- what do you think's gonna happen?
- I mean it's...
from what I've seen the screen is gonna go black,
and then it could be recovered I think.
So that's why we have another station
where we're gonna rapid cool it
with some liquid nitrogen.
So yeah, I think it's a solid plan, it's going.
This is definitely not your conventional test,
but it will go to the extremes I think.
- And with the rapid cooling with liquid nitrogen,
temperature shock I mean--
- Yeah. - The glass could break.
There's a cooling chamber in here too.
Could that interact with it, who knows.
Alright, drop it in, I'll click start.
In three,
two,
one.

- [Keaton] Ooh.
- [Phillip] Let's see how long it goes.
Honestly, I give it like 15 seconds.
- [Keaton] Really, I give it a minute at least.
- [Phillip] Yeah right.
That's really, really bad.
Like when it's hot,
I feel not only is it damaging with the heat..
- [Keaton] The battery?
- [Phillip] Could be, could be,
it could overheat the battery.
- [Keaton] But dude it has the gas chamber.
So do you think we might have an explosion?

- [Phillip] We'll see.
- [Keaton] Watch this go a minute, Phillip's gonna be wrong.
When he's wrong, comment down below, TechSmartt's better.

- [Phillip] Okay so, it's still holding strong.
Surprisingly 40 seconds in.
And now the screen seems to be dimming.
That could just be me.
- [Keaton] Nah man, it's gonna get to a minute.
Come on trooper, come on big boy.
- [Phillip] Okay, if this survives, that is crazy.
I honestly did not expect it to.
- I think we might have a new rating, IP69 proof.

Dude this is crazy.
And we just hit a minute.
- One minute, okay, I take that back.
- [Keaton] Alright, we do have the tongs for an emergency.
- [Phillip] Let's, pull it out a little.
Let's see what's up.
- [Keaton] Okay, I think we got something.
We got-- - [Phillip] Turn off
your device it's overheating, to cool down.
- [Keaton] Oh it's overheating, do you think?
- [Phillip] Okay, throw it in for just a little bit.
- [Keaton] So don't turn it off?
- [Phillip] Yeah and then I'm gonna set up liquid nitrogen,
so we can throw it in right away.
Oh take it out, let's go, come on.
We gotta cool it off man.
- [Keaton] It's hot, dude I can't get it out.
Here you go.
- [Phillip] Alright. - [Keaton] Here we go.
- [Phillip] We gotta cool her off.
Alright, pop her in, let's go.
- [Keaton] Alright, S10's in.
- [Phillip] Let's see if this does the trick.
They wanted some cooling.
We're definitely giving it that.
So imagine this actually fixes it
and it ends up turning on right now.
And some more for safe measure.
Okay, let me see those.
Let me see a pair.
- It took my hands.
Here we go, oh whoa, whoa, whoa.
- [Phillip] You need the grip ones, these are useless.
Here, let's team work.
- [Keaton] We're having a lot of problems up here.
Here we go, do you think it's...
Um.
- Oh take--
- I wouldn't touch that. - Take a look at that.
- I really wouldn't touch that.
- [Phillip] So the cameras are fogged up.
Yeah, the water's-- - [Keaton] Is it warm?
- [Phillip] It's actually hot, wow.
- [Keaton] Really hot? - [Phillip] Wow.
- [Keaton] Put it back down dude.
- [Phillip] We gotta cool that off.
- [Keaton] You want me to hold it?
- [Phillip] Actually, literally just pour it in there dude.
This is pointless.
- Alright come on, 24 hour fitness.
This is why I've been going.
- Okay, alright that should be good.
Let's let her rest.
- Wow that's fully submerged, look at that.
Keep it on yeah, keep it on.
- It's gonna crack.
- Look at that. - [Phillip] It's gonna crack.
It always does, oh man.
- [Keaton] That should be a timer.
How long it takes to crack, whoa.
I shouldn't put my face near that.
- [Phillip] It's pretty harmless actually.
- [Keaton] Yeah it's Corning Gorilla Glass baby.
- [Phillip] Ok.
- [Keaton] That's gotta be cool, that has...
- [Phillip] So, okay now it's cold, cool.
- [Keaton] Like to cold to the touch,
where you're gonna hypothermia?
- [Phillip] Oh. - [Keaton] Oh.
Whoa, I don't know why I put my hand up to my ears.
That was-- - [Phillip] So.
- [Keaton] Because of the explosion.
This isn't a Note 7.
 Okay that was good, gold.
 So display crack yet?
So what happens is that the top layer
of the glass separates and I see this all the time.
That's how we get the clear glass back.
I would genuinely be very surprised
if this were to turn on.
Make it the first S10 clear glass back here?
 We could...
Oh it did turn on, wow.
Somehow this has water inside and it--
- [Keaton] Dude I feel like Shaq.
We did the icy hot combo.
Brought it back to life.
- It worked.
Hey so, if you're Samsung Galaxy S10 is overheating,
hey a dunk in liquid nitrogen could get it
to wake up again.
- You know, just got to your local liquid nitrogen shop
cause it's turning back on.
Do we have a fingerprint on this one?
I'm gonna hold it over the boiling pot.
See if we can fully revive this.
Device powered off automatically.
Your device overheated.
It turned off to prevent damage.
Gives us a nice warning about what--
 Ok. - you can do.
I mean appreciate the kind gesture.
Let's see if we can thaw this baby out.
Do you feel like we're cooking?
Like we actually are cooking. - [Phillip] Literally.
Throw in some spices.
- Yeah, Give me a little salt, a little pepper.
- Whatever you need.
Okay, I don't know how that survived,
but it did and that's kind of impressive.
I'm seriously amazed.
Let's just liquid nitrogen it all the way dude,
see what happens.
- You can definitely tell the glass has separated
from the display.
He loves the S10.
 Yo, get out of here.
- Loves it that much and it's cool to the touch.
Works perfectly fine, I mean I can't really notice any lag
and camera's just gotta thaw out a little bit.
They're defogging, so we're gonna whip it
back in the liquid nitrogen.
And give it all we got.
 Oh my gosh, okay.
It might be a little too much,
but it's still alive.
That is just boiling.
That doesn't look healthy honestly.
So I think-- - [Keaton] Look at that.
- the top layer is literally completely--
Dude if we're careful, we could bend it
and make the Galaxy fold.
Whoa, bend it.
- Okay, honestly-- - Oh don't do that.
Let's get the gloves, hang on.
- Yeah. - We got 'em.
Some how this thing refuses to die.
We're making the Galaxy fold, here we go.
Alright, you know it's a high product.
It cost 1,980 dollars, we got the hype gloves.
- Damn.
- Here we go.
- Wait, you're actually gonna break it?
No way.
- Nah I shouldn't. - No you shouldn't.
I don't know how it survived,
but the Samsung Galaxy S10 is exceeding my expectations.
It survived boiling water, liquid nitrogen.
Yes the glass may have separated a little,
but it's still working, somehow.
- Update on that, I don't know if it's still working.
Gotta like really just--
- That's crazy.
- defrost it like a car.
- Let me see, I got the fingers.
Yeah so I think that the display's busted.
- He's got the fingers, apparently.
- Yeah it's gone, period.
- Oh. - It's still working.
- Finesse it.
- Nope, the touch layer has been damaged,
but still it's alive.
This thing is probably negative 10 degrees right now
but still somehow working, that's cool.
So alright, we did one more, one more solid.
We froze a Samsung Galaxy S10 and it's in the garage.
Let's go check on it.
I actually don't know how it's doing.
Keaton do the honors.
Let's see what we've got.
So I think they've been in here for a good four,
four hours, four, five hours.
Let's see how--
 Those are frozen. - Powerful.
I'm just gonna tell you right now.
- So--
Those are not all the way frozen.
- Yeah, they're not all the way frozen,
but we've got a pretty healthy layer
and just some water bubbles.
- [Keaton] We call this, the super water test.
You're getting the full experience.
- You know, that's not doing it.
Right here, VD thaw-er.
- With the mag.
- Oh, here we go.

- Oh. - Oh.
You burnt the ice, I see black ice.
Oh, that was so sick. - Oh, that's so cool.
That was was so sick, touch it.
 That is interesting.
It's like one of those satisfying videos.
That's not enough, we gotta cook it.
- Whoa, what's going on?
 I think that's
from the plastic melting honestly.
 Oh.
 Do not breath this.
Oh, iPhone is too.
 That's so sick.
 Alright guys, so I'd say
the Galaxy S10 exceeds expectations in the water.
Manufacturer rating is correct.
Both the iPhone and the S10 Plus survived
the flame and ice test, which was a nice surprise.
The liquid nitrogen proved a little bit too much.
It's still working, the backlight just gave out.
You can see the text here is just...
Once in a while the backlight will work or not,
and this separation here happened,
but all in all I gotta say this phone is a trooper.
This is above and beyond where you're gonna
experience in your day to day.
But still it has survived and that's really cool to see.
So all around great, great test man.
- Dude great test, thanks for not punching me in the face.
That would have been a close call
and assault is not okay.
- Alright guys. - So that's it for this video.
Hope you guys enjoyed.
We'll catch you guys next time.
